The fact that their moto literally is “890 sq. ft. of Reality Surrounded by Boulder” should tell you everything you need to know. An alternative could be, “The breakfast we wanted, the diner Boulder needs”. Perfect diner pancakes.Overheard conversation at the table next to us included; “Of course I’m going to study abroad… all my other doctors said it’s fine.”
Visiting Boulder for the first time, looked for a “breakfast place near me.” Google said come here- so we did. 5-star Reviews well earned! Great food, great service, great prices. Omelets were loaded with stuff (I had the bacon and cheese) but were nice and thin. (I hate spongy omelets.) Totally recommend!
Village was amazing!! We got the village virgins greetings and from the start they let us take coffee to the car until we get our table. The food was in our table immediately and the pancakes where simply the best Ive had in my life. Highly recommend the chocolate and blueberry ones.. all of our eggs (seen in the picture) were delicious.. thanks so much for a great experience.
Always amazing. It had been too long since I had been there. Best diner ever. Biscuits and gravy, eggs, bacon and perfect hash browns. The staff is a wonder to watch. Efficient is an understatement!
I love the people who work here and the food. Definitely a good place in town to get breakfast and support local business.
I used to love this place... Fast forward 10 years and the prices are like California and the portions are half
This place is a local favorite. They have standard dinner fare, and a few things you might not expect! Staff are fun and friendly, and those hash browns are the best anywhere!
The staff was some of the nicest people I have ever met. We ate here at the start of a 6 hour road trip and got extra to have on the roadThey packed us up with jelly, silverware and napkins to go.If you want an amazing breakfast and a home style experience I cannot recommend this place enough
Quaint, efficient and absolutely delicious! Our first time there and we will be going back! We had the Denver omelette, pancakes, sausage and French toast. Perfect! Not to mention the hash browns cuz those were divine!
Everybody was very sweet & the food was very good! During our short stay in Colorado, we are very happy that we visited here & will definitely tell our hosts about this place! We love diners & like to visit new ones whenever we stay somewhere new & this was a great choice. :-)
Ive been coming to the Coffee Shop since 1986 and enjoy the food and atmosphere just the same. I will never come back to Boulder and not eat at my favorite place! See ya next time.
Food was decent. Very friendly staff.Thing that ruined it was a pair of young men who came in with such intense body odor it made my gf gag and nearly throw up and made myself very offended. Other people left. We tried moving to a table far away but it was too intense. The entire restaurant smelled like a dumpster in summer.Staff inquired about our move and asked if there was something actionable she could do. We said no and left. What could she do? Especially with Colorado laws the way they are.
Fast, friendly service. Comprehensive typical diner menu. The chocolate chip pancakes were large, tasted of buttermilk, and had plenty of chocolate. Tuna melt was hearty and had fresh tomato. Reasonably priced for a nice Saturday brunch.
Village Coffee Shop is a charming local destination and a smashing place to have breakfast! Food is cheap and the service is extremely fast! An easy choice.
The best in boulder. I love the food. Right before work. Have some food at the village coffee shop. Ive been going here for a long time and is still the best food there in boulder.
This is our favorite Boulder restaurant for breakfast. Down home style breakfast, and great lunch too! The food and atmosphere are vintage diner, and the wait staff is friendly, fast and efficient.50 years and still going strong kind of says it all.The hash browns are some of the best Ive ever eaten!
Food is great price is good too, been dining here for 30 years! Love this place, one of Boulders finest breakfasts in my opinion. Very fast service so be ready.
The Village Is the place for breakfast in Boulder. There was a wait for an outside table which we needed for the eight of us. We got the pancakes and French toast but the egg dishes and burritos were probably the better option. What better place then the local Village Cafe to start a fun day in Boulder. Great pancakes and basted eggs! Be ready for a special greetings if you are a first timer. We would recommend.
Awesome back to basics diner with great food at great prices. A locals favourite. Its worth the wait if you see a line outside the Village Coffee Shop. The line moves quickly as the table turn over is high. You can even grab a coffee to sip while you wait.Inside, a classic diner menu offers all the classics, bacon, eggs, hash browns, omelettes and a range of other favourites. Food is served amazingly quick and the staff create a great vibe publicly welcoming all newcomers!
My boyfriend and I recently started coming here for breakfast on weekends and we absolutely love it! It’s now our go-to spot for breakfast and it’s always full of locals. The food is exactly what you want and it has a great, classic diner atmosphere!
Small hometown diner feel right in the middle of a beautiful city. This place is a staple for locals and once youve tried it youll see why. The food is classic diner style and is always fresh. The menu is simple yet exactly what youll be craving whether your wanting breakfast or lunch. This place will always hit the spot. Great personality and the staff is incredibly friendly. Get there before the line and enjoy.
My family has been coming here for 25+ years. Their hash-browns and breakfast burrito are the best, but I usually order the #5
Usually one of the first to go places in Boulder but this time around the customer service was horrible. When first arriving it was pretty slammed and the waitress ignored me a few times without even an acknowledgment. Finally I was able to wave down the bus boy to gets us a table. When she came over for the first time she said what do you want not even a how you guys doing today or a hello. We got our food and she ran off before we could ask for condiments or refills. We got more attention from the bus boy then she gave us. If you do give this place a try it would be for the taste of the food not the service
Everyone working is someone I would love to have as a friend. The food was amazing too!
Delicious blueberry pancakes! Lovely and fast service.
Cute little spot in Boulder! Yummy breakfast!! Must visit when youre in town!
I ordered takeout online and although it was ready quickly, the service wasnt that great. A lot of no eye contact and attitude. Think small mountain town Cafe that you probably shouldnt go to if youre an outsider or new to town. The food was unremarkable - bland but not terrible.
Just excellent food and service! You can tell they really care at Village Coffee Shop. Ordered takeout obviously, but they were so very friendly and wrote a nice message for us on the bag which is just a sweet gesture. Heads up the pancakes are gigantic so you will only need one I mistakenly ordered two blueberry ones and I was SO FULL.
Food was quick, service was on point, and the staff were friendly. Great little spot on a corner in Boulder that provided the food we needed before making the 9 hour trip to Grand Teton National Park.Everything was clean, tasted great, and hardly had to wait for service even though all the tables were packed.
Was super busy on a saturday but me and my boyfriend drove 17 hours from kentucky and walked down the surrounding streets and loved it. Love the area and the pancakes were amazing.
Quick, cozy classic diner. Ill be back soon!
I went in specifically for the pancakes and syrup… Unfortunately the batch of “syrup” literally had the consistency of water. No exaggeration. It was hot water with a hint of sweet flavor. Really disappointed as it basically ruined my pancake experience.
OK my very best homemade food. So nice to find a great place to be a virgin.( 1st timer) First place I will go to in Boulder Colorado___ The Village Coffee Shop. My one true love, on Fulsome+ Arapahoe. Thanks !
Went here on a whim after a morning hike and was not even the least bit disappointed. The food was so good, service was quick, and the bill VERY reasonable ($22 including tip for two of us!) Well be back here for sure. Next time Im trying the pancakes :)
My favorite breakfast spot in all of boulder. The owners are very kind and have the whole family working there keeping the business open during what was I imagine a stressful business year with covid. Great food, quick service, friendly atmosphere.
Long time customer. Won’t be coming back.Bus boy was serving food and drinks with the same nasty gloves he was using to clean the tables. Furthermore, was touching the glasses at the rim with those same gloves. Am I expected to touch my mouth to that? For some reason the food took forever, and when we received the order it was cold. Also had a hair in mine.My wife ordered steak and eggs and received a a round patty that probably wouldn’t pass for a hamburger patty. Thought it used to be real.
One of the few, local, greasey spoon diners left in Boulder. Quick, cozy, and fun for new patrons. Tell them youre new.
My Dad and I stopped in on our way to a nearby hike. We both appreciated the atmosphere and it felt like home to a couple of tired travelers. Although it is not very big, you could tell this is a popular place with the locals. We both ordered omelettes which were up much faster than expected considering how busy the place was for a Monday morning. We couldnt help but like the cheery woman who seated and served us, and who we suspected was the owner. She seemed relieved that her business was returning to normal after COVID and, even though Id never been there before, I can see why since it is clearly a special place.
Dont be fooled by all the other breakfast joints that claim to be the best. This place is the real deal. The food is great, and so are the prices and staff. Its an authentic small hometown place that makes you feel just like home. You cant go wrong and go hungry as the plates come fullof food.
Great breakfast spot. Obviously this is where all the locals eat. Quick service great food.
Must have patience. Ol school breakfast in a crowded spot but DELICIOUS!
Love this place! Great breakfasts and quick friendly service !
Absolutely delicious. The staff was so friendly and our waitress was just a hoot and so delightful. Well definitely be returning. Onion rings are the bomb.
The village is quintessential Boulder. Amazing food served by friendly people, all packed into a tiny building. The #6 breakfast is the best, but the omelettes and just about everything else keeps you coming back to try it all. My all time favorite place to go in college after a long night.
Fantastic .Mothers Day special 💕 Eggs Benedict! A number of Village Coffee Shop virgins. So fun when the announcement is made and everyone claps and cheers! Love this place and the foos and family atmosphere.
Hey Im a long time customer and Ive considered this place my favorite since I walked in as a Village Virgin 5 years ago. For the first time I ordered takeout from you guys expecting the same quality service and food that I have received every time I walked through your doors. My friend and I ordered a large amount of food and drinks, and rang up a large bill. The order was extremely wrong. Both ordered of hash browns were missing, my friends sunrise omelette, your employees refused to provide us with drinks. We asked for no bacon or sausage gravy for religious reasons, both of which we still received.I vouched hard to my friend about this place and Im honestly Im honestly embarrassed. Hes never going to go back, and I may never either which is heartbreaking.
Ive been going there since a little kid. Foods awesome, my dads dad took him there, he loves that place. I love it. I would rate the village, 1,000. I dont know how many times I could say that. But i will. Thank you guys!!!
If you want a seat when you walk in, go early. This place packs them in. Good stick to your ribs breakfast, fast, friendly and no frills. All in less than 900sf. Virgin no more!
Food is incredible and so is the staff. Best local spot you can find!!
Best breakfast spot in Colorado! Smelling faces, close knit staff, and unbelievable good food. If you have one breakfast in Boulder, make sure its the village
Atmosphere is exactly what you love about a local diner. The lady in the front is super friendly and is such a sweetheart.Plain black coffee is really all you need to drink but they do have other drinks as well. The wait staff was very attentive making sure our coffee was full. The food was excellent if you are looking for traditional diner food. Superb in my opinion.
Good food, great service, and they cheer for you if youve never eaten there before. Definetly worth eating here. They will bring your food out quickly and its quite good. If youre a fan of pancakes, they make them plate-sized. Maybe its not the healthiest food around, but youre here for tasty breakfast food and they do it simply and they do it well.
Incredible, down to earth diner in Boulder. We are so lucky to have the Village!
Theres nothing but great things to say about this place.. Ive going here for years... And Ill never get tired of it..
Excellent food an staff,Ill go back forsure
Best place in Boulder to get any breakfast, quick, delicious, friendly
Been coming here since I can remember, best breakfast/ lunch ever. The staff is super friendly, food is served super fast, if you havent been before you get called out as being a village virgin and the whole restaurant claps and cheers. If your hungover, anything you order will cure that hangover. Its always busy, been in the same little nook of Boulder for EVER. I cannot say enough good things about this place. Always a line out the door on weekends, and always packed the week as well. Def stop in! I always order the egg burrito. My absolute fav!
Great food, excellent prices, good atmosphere. Friendly and attentive staff. Very nice place
Best experience in a diner setting...flows like a well oiled machine!!!! Very good food and prepared in the best traditional way...grilled cheese a must!!!
It is a wonderful place but friendly staff. A typical local greasy spoon that keeps you coming back
Delicious.GF chocolate chip pancake is ridiculously amazing. Spanish omelette and hashbrowns yes please.Good vibes. Fast. Cheap. Worthy.Love the outdoor seating and booths inside.
Great small diner in Boulder - everyone is always nice and helpful, food is great, and the price is right. Blueberry pancakes are personal favorite - but have never had anything I didnt like. Relaxed unpretentious atmosphere and great food - all I could ask for breakfast.
Visiting boulder for my friends starting college again. Went here for breakfast and it was definitely the best decision. Ordered the Denver omelet and it was fantastic. Cooked perfectly and the peppers were fresh inside and onions were fresh and the ham was cut to perfect size. For the pricing and portion size it was beyond exceptional. The Omelet was big and came with hash browns that were crispy and 4 slices of toast. Definitely going back and highly recommend going too.
Really good. Bravo.
Best BREAKFAST in Boulder!!!!!!! Very affordable and they give you huge portion!!! Just like the old days. Order the Chicken fried steak. Came with toast, hash brown and scramble egg. So GOOD!!!! Staff always very friendly!!! I highly recommended this restaurant.
Its been 30yrs? Living on and off in Boulder and this IS the best spot on the planet. I know, i have lived and worked around the world. I love the VCS!
Best cheap homestyle breakfast in Boulder.
Looking for lunch late in the afternoon, returned to the village coffee shop and could not have left more satisfied. Read on for details. Located at the end of end unglamorous strip mall, the village coffee shop is a local fixture in Boulder and on a Sunday afternoon, just an hour before closing, the restaurant was packed when we walked in. We were seated in about five minutes. The interior of the village coffee shop screams “diner.“ And includes tables and a counter. The menu, a bifold piece of plastic laminate also says “diner.“ One of us went for an omelette with French toast while two of us shared the chili burger. Both dishes were excellent, especially the chili burger which reminded me of my favorite chili burger stand in Los Angeles. The service was friendly and efficient. Word of caution: if going for your first time, do not let your food server know or you will be called out loudly as a “village virgin,“ to the laughter and applause of others in the diner.
Fast pace, great people, gods food at an honest price!
Great staff, awesome atmosphere, and the food was WONDERFUL. Im in town for a week and will definitely be back during my trip!
We are still at the Village Coffee Shop, I wanted to write a review right away. This place is cozy and delicious with great customer service. It was my wife and Is first time here and we let the host/waitress know, the whole restaurant gave us a huge welcome They are efficient and COVID conscious.
I work for a local tow company and once a week we come down and order Biscuits and Gravy from here. Food is always hot and tastes great!
