We absolutely love the chocolate moose! This time we got the chocolate explosion Sunday with vegan coffee ice cream and also a freeze with vegan coffee ice cream...so freaking good! This is just the first of many trips to the Moose this year!

Gluten free and vegan options! And the vegan ice cream is good! Tonight when we went they were super busy - but everyone was still cheerful and great customer service.

Delicious ice cream, of course. Many different and unique flavors/toppings! The inside is kept nice and clean, and the staff was helpful, fast, and friendly. There is a nice outdoor window to get your food, but you can go inside as well. The inside connects to a relaxing outdoor area with benches and tables to sit at. I recommend the lemon custard, or Blue Moon. If you have a child, they will get a kick out of the Blue Moon turning their tongue a bright blue!

This is another place that pops up on my feet that I have never ate at I just deliver orders from. So the best I can say is the employees that work here are always very polite and helpful. And the food looks delicious but I cannot have any of it

Great Ice cream & treat location in Bloomington!

I’ve been to the Chocolate Moose Walnut location multiple times. Every time I’ve visited, the staff has been very friendly, the shop was very clean, the decoration was very nice. The only factor restricting a 5-star rating is the speed of service, or should I say lack of. If they were able to produce product quicker that would be an instant 5 stars!!! They have fantastic breakfast, ice cream, and coffee. I definitely will return again and I would recommend the Chocolate Moose!

This place is ice cream heaven. I don’t have a sweet tooth but this place has me coming back and trying all the different favours of ice cream and types of desserts. So far my favorites are: vanilla ice cream, cheese cake ice cream, red velvet cake ice cream, chocolate fudge ice cream, vanilla pecan sundae and so many more.

The Brown County Coffee was so delish. I love that they also have a vegan section as well. Inlove the tiny kids touch cone. The little eyes on it make is so delightful.

Service is absolutely outstanding. Im just not a fan of their ice cream, Ive tried a few different flavors both in Bloomington and their Brown County location. Theres always something a little off about the taste. My sisters who went to IU absolutely love it though. Different strokes for different folks.

Huge portions, deliciously thick handmade ice creams and plentyful add ins make this a must stop. When asking a staff member what blizz was waiting on the counter all I got was a shrug. But its still worth the visit.

With lots of choices and interesting flavors, the friendly and cheerful staff added to the experience, as they were willing to give me some recommendations (so many good flavors!). I always visit here when Im in Bloomington to see family, and usually have a good experience, but I dont know that Ill go any more. College-age staff seems super enthusiastic about their job, but this store does always seem to be understaffed. Disappointing since I already know that their employees are severely underpaid. Also, every time Ive seen a member of management come to the front, theyve been extremely rude to the customers, never wear masks, and Ive seen more than once management yell at their staff in front of customers--so unprofessional. The older male workers seem to always be eyeballing their college-aged staff, which is obviously concerning as a customer. Im sad to leave this review because I really do love the staff there, and the ice cream is amazing, but I cannot stand for the poor treatment of these employees.

This is our first visit to the new location. It is a bit different as the place is a LOT bigger. However I found it was also better which we doubted could be possible. After all The Moose was THE place to go for cold refreshment in Btown. Putting it inside and revamping the serving area made everything different and we were prepared for dislike. Yay! The wait time was short. Shakes were the BOMB! Staff is amazing. Our fears were dashed to the pavement.

Lord knows everyones having trouble keeping good people working right now. But I was pleasantly surprised at this girls conduct after what happened the last time I was there. I wont avoid the Chocolate Moose in the future. They DO have killer ice cream. Hopefully one day The Incident will be buried under enough visits that it wont even surface as a memory. But truly, it only takes one bad employee to ruin a place for someone. I have a bit more faith in TCM after dealing with this lady today.-----Ive never been so dissatisfied with the Chocolate Moose staff in my life. I grew up going there with my grandpa and when my sister came to town we went to get ice cream for everyone there because I recommended it. We drove there, went in and ordered for everyone. They brought half of our order, the ice cream the wrong size. What got my attention first though was the chocolate shake they tried to pass to me. The girl came out hollering for a chocolate fudge and vanilla and when no one claimed it I asked if they could have mistaken the chocolate shake for that. She said it must have been mine and tried to hand it to me. It was literally a vanilla hot fudge sundae in a cup. I told her what I ordered was supposed to be a chocolate shake. The girl tried to convince us it was a shake and I told her it wasnt even mixed. She left with it and another one handed my sister her order which was, thankfully, correct. They brought a cup out and said it was the shake. I opened the lid and it was the same fudge sundae they tried to pass the first time. I asked a different woman if we could get the chocolate shake to complete the order and she shrugged and walked off. Another woman came around the corner and we spoke to her. She left with the shake and came back ten minutes later after filling several other orders that were placed behind us. Opened it and its the same dang sundae. So I paid for two shakes and a large ice cream. I got a shake, a fudge sundae and a small ice cream. Ive never walked away from there so disappointed and disatisfied with the service. Honestly, I know mistakes get made in high speed professions and I am patient enough to work through them. They didnt even try. This was completely awful. It wasnt a well everyone has off says it was legitimately terrible. An off day? I get it. Make it right eventually Ill come back. But this? Theyve lost our business, and stained years of memories.

I couldn’t dream up a criticism of this place even if I tried. Nothing bad has ever happened to me here!

Yum 😋 a local must have . It has been in this location since I moved here in 2002. We moved and came back . The spot got a facelift but chocolate moose was here to make my belly smile. Now I can share it with my kids. Everything here is a good pick

The portion size compared to the price you pay is ridiculous. 3 small cups of ice cream and a drink was over $30. The staff was seemed bothered by having to answer questions about their product and were generally unfriendly. If the price didnt keep me a away, the staff would. Definitely not a place I would ever go again.

I love stopping by here with my daughter! Wed normally walk there from our home in the Bryan Park neighborhood, but now since weve moved its just a quick trip into town. Service has always been great and the ice cream is delicious! So many options and they are all awesome!! Ask for eyes on your scoop or cone for the kiddos...its fun. Mmmmm......be back soon!!

At most ice cream shops you can see them placing the ice cream on the cone but not at this place. It took more than five minutes, after placing the order, to get three ice cream cones. It was worth the wait. The small cones are large. The employees are nice.

Delicious sundae!

The Chocolate Moose is the second best place in Bloomington to get ice cream. I would recommend the namesake flavour, and lemon sorbet.The first is Hartzells.

Went there with my boyfriend, his son, and my mother after a tasty meal at Bubs Burgers and Ice cream. They were pretty busy, but the line went fairly fast and as always, their ice cream was delicious. All together we got, tag along in a waffle cone, blue moon in a bowl, bacon !?! Sunday, and four sodas of different flavors. All of it was delicious and the service was good. Currently, there is only outside seating due to covid.

Great ice cream and great people! Was a little disappointed to see they added a surcharge fee based on how you pay because I didnt see it until after the fact. But overall best Ice cream in town!

I used to love the brown county coffee ice cream!Today, one cup was half melted liquid when they served it, the other cup had less than the two scoops ordered. The consistency of the ice cream was whipped (??) and basically completely melted by the time I walked like 3min to my car. Pretty disappointing. I wonder if they changed the recipe of the ice cream?

It’s no longer the cute little building with lines out to the street. But the new building definitely tips the hat to times gone by. The ice cream hasn’t changed and there are plenty of cool photos to remind you of what once was. A great way to change with the times but not forget the roots of the past.

Ordered at the outside window. Was told masks were required. Outside? I asked. When were about to eat? Clearly they dont need our money. Wont be back. Went to Culvers. Just as good, but cheaper.

Ive tried almost every flavor and I have not come across anything I did not love here! This is the BEST ice cream... I have family in Bloomington, Indiana, and they know I MUST visit the Chocolate Moose every time I come here. This is also the only vegan ice cream I have ever loved! I am not vegan, but some of my family members are. I enjoy everything about this place, and the new shop is even more fun than ever. As it is now an indoor location I can visit with comfort at any time of the year. Yes!!!

Visited Bloomington on a weekend trip with my husband. We should have come here first because it’s the best place we ate!

Their homemade ice cream is so good! This time I had Tag-a-Long and Moose Dream which is chocolate ice cream with mini peanut butter cups in it. Their chocolate ice cream is the only chocolate ice cream I like.

Long wait for part of our order. The cookie dough ice cream had really small cookie dough pieces in it that you could not even taste.

Went there with a group of people and everything was delicious. I had a chocolate shake and they are so rich and chocolatey. Go there at all cost.

Dole whip was excellent

My mom and I went to get Ice cream for the family. We didnt see the sign that said you had to wear a mask for outdoor ordering and instead of telling us the cashier just walks away huffing. When mom came back with a mask she was very rude to her while she was ordering, and my mom told her there were two peanut allergies on mine and my siblings the lady said and I quote look lady, you didnt order anything with peanuts in it except the blizz with the buckeyes in it. My mother told her that she was just letting her know due to the cross contamination. We got home and my sibling three sips in bit into a whole peanut. Due to the carelessness of the staff my sibling had a reaction. I wouldnt suggest it even if you dont have allergies.

Heard some folks leaving bad reviews due to masks, it’s a state mandate folks! Jordan and his staff at the moose are great. Since I hadn’t dropped a review yet, I figured I would... hope it helps offset the mask haters unjust 1 star reviews!

The ice cream was really really good. The place its beautiful. My only opinion is that they need to change the way they give the order to costumers. Maybe implement a system were every ticket has a number and call number by number. They just place the ice creams on the shelf and someone took my ice cream so I had to wait again for my order to be completed. But the ice cream was delicious.
