Very disappointed in Historic Bethlehem. First, I tried to resolve this by contacting them directly and did not receive a reply. Here is the issue: My family went on a Rise and Fall of Bethlehem Steel tour. The Historic Bethlehem website states that the tour is one hour. When the tour began we spent approximately the first 45 minutes listening to the tour guide talk and looking at pictures while sitting on a bench across the street. Then we ascended the stairs for the Hoover Mason Trestle. When we arrived at the top I asked if the tour would be over in 15 minutes (thinking that what we had experienced was not what was described on the website) because my party had another commitment and we needed to leave at 2:00 (again the tour was supposed to be one hour). The tour guide said the tour will go at least an hour and a half and maybe longer! As a result we had to leave at 2:00 and missed most of the tour, what we were most interested in, the walking part where we could see actual items, not just pictures. The info. given during the first 45 minutes was interesting, but not a walking tour. We are very disappointed that we missed probably the most interesting part of the tour and what we actually thought the tour would be. Its great that the tour guide had so much info. to give but the website needs to indicate the actual length of the tour. When asked for a refund or credit for a future tour, so I could allocate more time, no response from either Historic Bethlehem or Arts Quest (the ticketing agency).
Place. Helpful people helped me find a souvenir to take back to Oregon with me so Im very happy with that thank you to the gentleman that was working there.
Cute town, but not visitor friendly. No public toilets folks and all the shops wont let you use their facilities.
Friendly, very welcoming place.
Visiting Bethlehem for the Runners World Runners fest. ( not a runner a spouse ) Purchased the Death and Dying Tour IT was fabulous due to the Guide Ted he was very knowledgeable and well spoken. The group was small and moved slowly . We did the Ghost Tour later that night and a poor guide made it almost useless.,
The two young men on staff tonight, Dec. 29th, were very pleasant and personable, but unfortunately the young woman behind the cash register was not friendly at all. I just thought you should know. It would probably be better to have someone more cheerful and upbeat greeting visitors.
Took an informative walking tour! Greatly enjoyed it. Good value for the $. Nice quaint visitor center/store.
The people were very helpful and friendly. If youre looking for locally made goods, this place has more of them...be sure and ask where the blacksmith is so you can see a real blacksmith at work.
Ive been in this store a few times, the service has been subpar. Today I went in to purchase several Bethlehem Steel hoodies for an upcoming birthday celebration. The two people in staff stood behind the counter, one on their phone, one just watching me. I dug through each hoody looking for two sizes, to which I did not find. If the staff seemed professional in the slightest I may have asked if they had additional sizes. After a few seconds, I came the decision that I am not going to support a local business when they cant be bothered to assist a customer. I proudly went to another local business that values their customers + purchased the items there.
The Vistor Center is always Open on the north side of Bethlehem on main st. But the center on the south side by steel stacks is always closed on weekends for some reason. My wife and myself take walks all the time down around the steel stacks campus during the summer months and beginning of fall. There was 3 times my wife had to use the bathroom and the center was locked up all 3 times we tried. It seems the place is only open during events arts quest hosts.
December 29, 2018. I was about to write a review about the Visting Center how the young gentlemen were so helpful and friendly and the woman was like i was bothering her. But I saw someone beat me to it. We had an amazing time visiting the trees and museums. But honestly people working at the visting center should be helpful and looking to make your staying welcoming. The woman in front of me needed her to get more candles from the black. The sales woman looked annoyed she had to go in the back. I know it’s hard dealing with the public but we were nothing but nice and pleasant there was no reason for her being unpleasant. Just saying!!
Beautiful town and great history. Make sure you check out the Historic Bethlehem Hotel.
Adjacent to the Historic Hotel Bethlehem, the visitor center is the ideal jumping off point for a tour of the original 500 acres of the city, founded by Zinzendorf on Christmas Day, 1752.Books and guides, including a downloadable audio heritage tour coordinated with blue numbered signs, are available. Gift items representing photos, small packable items, and fabric items are also on sale. The citys most treasured souvenirs, the handmade glass Moravian and Bethlehem stars (variety of sizes), are on display for viewing and purchase.
The walkinf tours offered by the visitors center are worth the money. We had a great visit.
Traditional visitors center with store. Check business hours before you head there.
So much to do this historical place right in our own backyard, spring you can go to the plantation. Go around Christmas they play music on the streets so much to do
Very helpful and knowledgeable about the region’s history.
Lots of things for sale, but when I asked about quilt shops in the area, their only advice was they could look it up, or I could ask at the bookstore.
This is where you start your tour. Nothing crazy interesting here. Go to the Goundie house next door and the Historical Bethlehem Museum down the street. Thats where the history is.
Great and helpful
