If you want to be treated like family and get the BEST and most HONEST service, this is the place for you! Matt was my first person I spoke with. After he asked all the right questions, speak with the mechanics, he was able to give me a fair idea what was going on with my Porsche. And, he was spot on! The estimate was very fair and the work was spectacular. Northwest European Auto is my new mechanic! I have already recommended them and when I put my name on something, it’s a big deal as I take it personally. You will walk in as a customer but you will walk out a friend. Thank you all for your help!!!!!!

We cannot recommend Matt and NW European Autoworks enough!! After being on the road for weeks in our Mercedes Sprinter van we had a check engine light and one other light come on that we needed to get checked out. We didn’t have much time in town, but Matt was honest and transparent about timing and got us in the same day! He was incredibly friendly, knowledgeable and helpful from the start. He obviously knows what he’s doing and we are so grateful for his speedy service on our Sprinter. I wish we could give 50 stars. Thank you!!

Everyone there went above and beyond with wanting to give me the best service possible. The pricing was also very reasonable. I would highly recommend NW European Autoworks!

Initially brought my E90 328xi in for a valve cover gasket replacement. The shop suggested I replace the valve cover at the same time because they are plastic and often crack. Not understanding the chances were 9/10, I decline and just had the gasket replaced. The new gasket lasted about two and started leaking again. Before receiving a call that my car was ready, I saw someone from the shop driving it miles away (shop is off Kentucky st, and I saw someone driving it by bakerview/hannegan). Because it leaked so quickly, I figured it was the valve cover so I bit the bullet and decided to bring it back.I have always ordered parts from ECS Tuning, and never have had an issue so I ordered my own kit to save a few dollars being that I already sent $700 for the first repair. When I let the shop know I’m providing my own parts, they told me they charge higher hourly fees “to make up for not making money on parts”. I’ve never known a shop to profit off ordering parts for repairs that happen in-house.After paying the same price for the repair the second time around while supplying the parts myself, I expected them to do it right. Oil started leaking from the valve cover one week after leaving. They either over/under torque the valve cover causing this issue. Being I supplied the parts, no warranty. After learning they charge a higher hourly rate if supply your own parts and paying over $1500 and the valve cover is still leaking oil, I’ll be taking my business else where.

If you are looking for competent, honest help with your European auto repair or with your sprinter van conversion Ron and Matt are your folks. I met Ron at a local retailer in town on a Saturday morning. I approached him because of the sprinter van conversion he was driving and I was just starting a sprinter van conversion myself. He was very generous with his time and willing to show me his very cool van. This led me to his shop the following week where I met Matt. Matt has been an incredible sounding board and resource for me in my journey to convert my van. His willingness to share his knowledge has been priceless. I highly recommend NW European Autoworks.

I was in a tight spot and needed an urgent assessment of the driving behavior of a 718 Boxster S I was planning to buy. Matt was able to get the car in on very short notice and give it his personal attention, and contacted me the same day with the results, and the cost was extremely reasonable. If I have occasion to need services on my car in the Bellingham area in the future, Ill certainly use Northwest again!

Outstanding service... I usually do all work on cars I own and have not taken a car in to get a repair done in 20 years. My M Coupe needed a new clutch and I just didn’t have the time or resources to do the work this time. I was terrified of taking a car into a shop and the cost associated with doing so. I called around the Seattle area and the Eastside getting quotes and was sickened by the numbers I was being quoted. Called this place after a referral and not only was their price FAR lower, but they happily offered their expertise over the phone. Many other shops I had called left me with the impression that they were doing me a favor by entertaining me with a quote, and I really had to pry for details. NEA did an absolutely outstanding job, and addressed several other issues in the transmission (shift linkage, braided steel line, flex disc) and remained right around the original quote. I was concerned about ballooning costs you hear about a service like this and did not experience anything of the sort. Car drives excellent now and could not be happier. Friendly crew as well. Can’t recommend these guys enough.

I talked to Matt at Northwest European Autoworks in relation to my 2004 Sprinter 2500 that needs a replacement engine. Matt was super helpful in introducing me to the platform and the common cost/value opportunities to consider when planning an engine replacement on this platform. Matt was free with his time, performed significant legwork on my behalf to ensure that his services would meet our needs even before any commitment of work on my part. If you have spent any time researching shops for Sprinters, T1N platform in particular, you will recognize how valuable this is. Matt sets clear expectations on how/when work will be completed and is working diligently to handle the increased workload that this season has brought. I highly recommend Northwest European Autoworks.

Experienced Vanagon mechanics who have used their knowledge to answer questions on multiple issues without needing to spend precious time researching or sourcing parts. Most recently the owner offered to let me borrow a set of lug bolts to check for compatibility with a third party set of wheels. This kind of generosity and trust is greatly appreciated.

The whole Northwest European Autoworks team does an amazing job-- I have so many things Im pleased with and I can not give them enough praise.Diagnostics: Matt does an amazing job efficiently diagnosing the issue. He then thoughtfully, respectively, and thoroughly explains exactly what the issue is, and what the severity of the issue is. As someone who drives a 20 year old car this is a key component to what I look for in a mechanic.Timeliness: They also are very transparent for where time is being spent and what a realistic timeline is for getting an issue repaired. They run a tight shop and give realistic timelines of when things can get turned around and, from my experience, have never missed a stated time. Often, they complete the task much sooner.Price: Shopping around to different shops around Bellingham (and to the greater world beyond) I can not emphasize more how level-headed and fair their pricing is.Take away: This shop is an amazing resource for all your European car repair needs. As I likely will need a new car soon-- Im convinced to stick with a European build so I can continue to benefit from their trusted services. 10/10 highly recommend.

Matt is an incredible resource for all things Sprinter related. He knows the ins and outs of what it takes to both keep a vehicle running mechanically and outfitted as a camper conversion. He was more than happy to discuss the pros and cons of different options and setups as well as what kind of maintenance is to be expected. His input took a lot of the uncertainty out of the purchase of my rig and gave me peace of mind during the process. I recommend that anyone with or considering a Sprinter should give him a call.

We had a breakdown in my son’s 84 Volkswagen Westfalia, on a trip In the time of COVID-19. I called at the end of a business day and Matt answered. After I explained our situation he said that the shop was very busy but due to our situation he graciously offered to put us to the front of the queue for an investigation of our problem the very next morning. His guess was correct, it ended up being a bad starter and his team had us out of the garage within a couple hours the next morning. The shop looked fastidiously clean, organized and well-equipped and his team appeared to be experienced, ready and willing. Mostly I noticed that the energy of the place had a really nice vibe. They really seem to like what they do. I highly recommend this place if you have a German made vehicle!

This review is long overdue. i had a drive shaft replaced on my classic 86 BMW 325ix for about $1500. The shop sourced a used one and felt like it should work fine. It failed within 1 year. Blaming it on the shaft, the shop sourced me the last brand new drive shaft for my model left in america from New York. Cost around $2000. They assured me it would last me the life of my car (currently had only 130k miles). 6 months later it failed - leaving me stranded on a highway in the middle of nowhere. The new shop that i took it to - recommended to me by NW European - told me that the brand new drive shaft was installed incorrectly. I had a terrible experience using NW European which ultimately cost me thousands of dollars and an amazing car that I had hoped to have for many years.Edit: you’re absolutely right - ‘89, that was a typo. Laughable that you would question whether the new drive shaft was done at your shop. Ron was so proud of it he signed the damn thing! As long as you’re looking up invoices, why don’t you look up how much money I spent there in total just to be left with a useless vehicle that a kid with no money left couldn’t even afford to have towed. Yep, it happened 8 years ago! And it still hurts my heart every time I see an old BMW like the one I used to have and wish that I still did.

I brought it in and after doing diagnostics, Matt called me and gave me a complete rundown of everything that needed attention. Unlike what Ive experienced at other shops, though, he spent time prioritizing the issues and told me what was absolutely necessary to fix and what wasnt such a huge deal. Since the repairs would be expensive, he spent considerable time talking with me about the pros and cons of fixing the car then let me have some time to decide what to do. I have a 6 year old 50,000 miles ML 350 Bluetec diesel bought from and serviced by the MB dealer. Having used NW European for my older Porsche I recently had them look at the ML after an engine light came on two weeks after being serviced by the dealer. The dealer had recently advised and installed a new injector ($1,000+) when the engine light came on again I brought it to the dealer and they said it was an injector issue and I may need a new injector.Dismayed by the dealer I went to NW European for an analysis and advice. They have the latest MB approved diagnostic equipment and after an analysis discovered that the dealer did not register the injector serial number. Evidently when you put in a new injector it has to be registered with the on board computer so it knows its new and not a foreign object so to speak. They completed the procedure and for under $150 as was back under way with no a perfect running vehicle and did not spend another grand with the dealer for an injector I didnt need.So NW is no this Mercedes diesels service center going forward.

The dealer drove the car over to Matt almost immediately, and the pre-inspection was complete within hours, probably under 3-4 hours!
