Fun experience for my daughter. We had never been in this area and happened to find Shipleys. I had heard good things so we stopped by for a little treat. The service was quick, friendly, and the cashier went above and beyond to help my daughter pick the best choice of donut. Even had fun colors for kids that you don’t see in most donut shops. We will definitely be going back.Went back today for a new flavor- same great service. Highly recommend. Thanks Brittany!

The experience at this location has been great. Been going there for about 3 to 4 months. Brandy was very polite and courteous. Customer service is outstanding. She has the personality that can open up opportunities for her. 😎

This may be my new donut spot. Even though the donut I got was cold it was still very good. Just the right amount of sweetness and cakeyness. I enjoyed it.

THERE IS NO WAY YOU SHOULD OWN AND OPERATE A DONUT SHOP IF YOU CAN’T PROVIDE FRESH DONUTS NOT EVEN AN HOUR AFTER OPENING. I gave this place a try TWICE between 5:30am-6:15am and the donuts were ice cold (not even warm) both times! I called and spoke to the owner after my first visit and he said this wasn’t a normal practice but they were training a lot of new people and the employee may have grabbed donuts from the wrong rack. He offered to give me a free donut but I told him no worries! I’d patronize them again. Today the donuts were ice cold again! When I told the cashier they were cold, she apologized and assured me they were fresh even tho they were cold. The other employee complained and said it would be a while before they could have hot ones ready. The cashier offered to microwave them for me, but i declined and returned the food. DON’T WASTE YOUR TIME HERE.

Let me say right off the bat that I love your donuts! I bring them to work on a regular basis and everyone loves them too! With that being said the last 3 time I have been to visit I have ordered 3 chocolate filled donuts and each time I have received 3 chocolate cream filled donuts. (Its my fault for not checking the box but a few follow up questions from those taking the orders wouldnt hurt either.) Like I said love your donuts!

This place is really good.. Hadnt had their donuts yet, but the Kolotchas are pretty good... So we had 2 sausage cheese and 1 Jalapeno and an Apple fritter.. They were good.. The kolotchas we did expect them to be hotter they were kinda lukewarm.. And the Apple fritter was cold.. The hot choc was really good my mom and daughter really enjoyed it.. Somethings recommended is to fix the speaker box to be louder, label the kolotches so you will know whats what and to serve the food hot.. It was a great experience and we will be back again!

Love their kolaches and donuts. The only thing is that your orders size can be inconsistent. Some days, a cinnamon twist is big and fluffy, and other days Ill get one thats tiny. But I feel like most donut places have that inconsistency.

Just grabbed glazed, bold jalapeno cheese sausage kolaches, 3 filled donuts, and vanilla ice coffees. Everything is amazing and service was incredible! Best kolache I’ve had in Baton Rouge. Probably my favorite thing *drools*

My grandson wanted donuts. We had just started our trip back to Texas. Shipleys is always good. This one does their old fashioned cinnamon roll different ... They put a thick powdered sugar icing on top which is different than what Ive had before.When you want sweet for breakfast, Shipleys satisfies.

03/15/2021(5:30am) I just left Shipley Do-nuts and I must say...I experienced the BESTcustomer service ever. I ordered a dozen of donut holes and the young lady that helped me shared a quick conversation with me that really made my morning. She stated that this past weekend was the best in business by far the store experienced since opening. These days you just dont know how much is appreciated when someone makes eye contact and you can see a smile under a mask!!! My only regret is I did not get her name to give her the recognition on this past.

Delicious donuts, but the beef Frank instead of a sausage on the Kolache seems a bit of a lie.

Best tasting donuts in the south. Also, they have been open for business during the power outages across town (hurricane Ida). Many businesses are not, but Shipleys has got your back!

Shipley Do-Nuts has the absolute BEST pigs in blanket ever! The variety of donuts and taste is one of the best in town.

There is no way that a place of business should be out of donuts at 2:40, if you don’t close until 5pm. Your open sign is still on and very visible. Disappointed.

Years ago (many years ago) when I was a child there was a Shipley Do-Nuts that we would go to after church on rare Sundays. It was a special treat for us and held so many great memories. When I moved back here in my 20s, I was disappointed to find it was gone. In my travels throughout the state, I found one in Alexandria, and Id stop there whenever I passed through town. Then I found one in the airport in Houston and Id intentionally leave myself enough transition time so I could stop there. Fast forward many years Shipley has returned to Baton Rouge. I finally got to stop in the Monday after Easter and it was JUST as I remembered from my childhood. Perfectly prepared donuts, not too oily, not too sweet, just the perfect donut. I went back on Wednesday try a kolache and they were good too! Wonderful donuts and a friendly, mask-compliant staff.

Absolute superb customer service! What a great experience I had. They had an incredible variety of donuts! I had to order my go to Glaze donut, but the selection was huge- definitely something for everyone! Couldn’t recommend this place enough!

Donuts were great. Went on the 4th of July and the themed donuts had so much attention to detail that it was worth the price. Also tried the kolaches and apple fritter and all were very good.

If you want to satisfy your donut fix, this is the place. The donuts are fresh and delicious. The kolaches are amazing, especially the boudin ones (I wish they had more filling IMO lol). Shipleys is a nice change of pace from the usual donut shops here in BR.

Cannot get enough of this place! I love how the owners are so hands on and also the kindest FAMILY!!! Their passion clearly shows in their food and service. As someone from Houston, I know when Shipley’s can be good... and unfortunately bad.... But this location has the BEST Shipley’s donuts I’ve ever had. They have the sweetest staff and truly have a love for hospitality which goes a long way for people who are not morning people like myself. I think his name was Greg or Gregory(tall, bald, handsome)? And, he just had such a radiant smile that made me not dread going to work after my visit. They also keep the place incredibly clean which is even more inviting during times like these for me. I will definitely be coming back! :)

Yesterday was the first time for me to go to Shipley Do-Nuts. The Cheese and Jalapeño Boudin Kalache was the best that I have ever had. I love lemon filled donuts so I bought one. It was delicious. It also was the best that I have ever had. Great customer service. Shipley Do-Nuts you have a new customer.

ALWAYS a great place to grab Kolache. Excited they are here. Always enjoyed my neighborhood one in Texas. All the employees are friendly. Manager is always trying hard to make your visit the best.

I had Shipleys from a different state before so when I saw baton rouge opened one I was excited. I came by to try them, had a long line ahead of me, thats fine. I finally got to the window and only one of the flavors I wanted was available. The worst part was she didnt tell me this until after I paid. I tried to just get a refund because the flavors that they did have were plain, glazed or awful. She said she couldnt give me a refund. I paid for the filled ones but did not get any filled ones, just glazed/ old fashioned (cheaper priced donuts). That lady has probably been doing it, thus the long, slow line. People had to find out at the window that none of the stuff they ordered were available, then had to sit there and reconsider their orders, just like I did, after they already took their money.

Glad to finally see this Texas chain expanding here. The boudin kolaches are really good. Not a fan of the cake donuts at all (not sure what exactly is the problem between the spices and texture) but everything else is super fresh! Friendly folks and good service.

Cant believe there is a Shipleys here in Baton Rouge. Stopped in the other day for a couple of the original glazed. Absolutely wonderful! Great 🍩.

Donuts are Walmart quality. Mediocre at best. Cake donut so dry I didn’t finish it. My 3 yr old loves donuts and would only lick the chocolate off the top of the chocolate covered plain. Are these fried on location fresh or are they shipped in like Dunkin Donuts?

As far as donut shops go, this one is just perfect! Ive been here several times already and the staff are always smiling and are very friendly - which is quite refreshing and not what Im used to at fast food restaurants. There are so many different donuts (and other food items) to pick from and they all look amazing - you will likely want to try everything! They allow call-ahead ordering if you need a special order and youre either afraid they wont have them first thing in the morning or you just need a LOT of donuts for the office or for a party, etc. Donuts here are always fresh and fluffy. As far as flavor and texture, they are almost like a cross between Krispy-Kreme and Mary Lee. The coffee here is also always fresh, hot and delicious! I should be giving this place 5-stars for their donuts but honestly its their friendly, smiling staff that helps me assign this 5-star rating. Great job Shipleys!

I love Shipley donuts that I had tried when I was in Houston TX and every time I go down there I go get Shipley..was excited when I know Baton Rouge about to open one.. I drove from the other side of town to experience that the donuts was nothing like the ones I have aten before...WOOOW!!! They were very nasty, old looking and dry.. don’t know if I will be back!!

Amazing service and even better donuts! A great place to stop before work on a week day or to grab a box for the fam on the weekends! Each time I go to Shipleys I’m met with smiling faces in a clean establishment with quick service. Definitely recommend Shipleys 10 times over. Oh, and try the coffee, it’s fantastic!

I am an employee of this location and I must say that it is my favorite job thus far. Greg Smith most definitely picked a wonderful staff, the working environment is extremely positive and its been this way since we opened back in February! Every employee of Shipley Donuts at Essen wants this best for its customers and business. Aside from the staff, before working here I had never had Shipley Donuts ever and it is now my favorite Do-Nut shop, the recipes are 👌... not too sweet, not too bland, literally just the right balance of flavors. I havent gotten around to try everything but as of now my favorite donuts are the strawberry iced and the buttermilk glazed cake ( which i recently tried warm and its sooo good). I am a huge fan of the Jalapeno& Cheese Boudin Kolache as well. The only thing that I wish was a bit better is the coffee selection, Im not a fan of any of the iced coffees but many people seem like them also alot of elderly customers would prefer decaf coffee which we do not have.

I’m from Houston, so I know shipley’s. I’ve been stuffing my face with the classic donut as long as I can remember.When I went to BR for work I was shocked to see there was a place that could potentially fill my body’s desire for dough and nuts. I pensively ordered the usual half dozen doughnuts and half dozen kolaches. When I got my order, I was stoked to find a that the whole excursion from order to eating my order was no different from any other shipley’s location. The doughnuts and kolaches were fresh and delivered in a timely manner.Did anyone else get a raging erection form this establishment?No? Just me? Okay cool.

I heard the story that the owner came in sambath donuts and said why are you scared you dont even understand me Im gonna shut you down...I believe her because a lot of men have disrespected her in the past idc if your donuts are good or your fake attitude for what you call customer service that was just awful of you I hope you have a bad day

Staff was not very friendly, ordered a glazed and a white iced. Both donuts were in he same bag and on top of each other and the white icing got all over the glazed donut. And imo the donuts were mediocre.
