Very nasty bunch of people. They treat you like you are a thief, asking questions is like you want to do a surgery on them, most items are much cheaper and better in Lowe’s or Home Depo. Waist of time and Money.

I was able to buy beautiful 12x24 porcelain tile for my kitchen renovation at auction for a great deal. Employees were very helpful as this was my first time buying something at this auction. selection seemed endless and i cant wait to come back. for any other first timers - this is an all day affair as i waited several hours for the auctioneers to get to the tile i wanted. bring snacks and a book. dress warm in the winter. bring cash as the auction fees are cheaper. be ready to wait patiently for anything and everything. research what you are bidding to make sure you are not paying too much compared to actual retail. Be ready to pick up your winnings day-of or the day after.

I really like this place. They have items that you wont find at your normal home supply store. Just keep in mind that while the prices are cheaper, they charge about a 10% fee. So if your bill is 5k you will add about 500 plus tax on it. However i keep going back because the prices are still great.

They sell French doors, interior and exterior, I think. tile, mainly for walls, light fixtures, bathroom cabinets for the sink and the sink itself. the price for everything is what they paid for it, plus 10% if you pay cash/debt card or 13% if you pay with a credit card. then add 6% tax. not sure if that is before the 10/13%s or after they are added. fair prices.

Ive been in the market for a front entry door and heard about this place months ago. They didnt have the right size door in stock so I kept coming back every 3 weeks to check the inventory. Aaron one of the salesman took the time to assist & guide me in my search week over week. He and Jim kept me abreast of the inventory based on my needs and after 5 months I finally got my door. It was the right size and price; well worth the wait. Thanks Aaron for being patient with me each visit and announcing its not here as soon as I walked in lol. If youre looking for quality at a good price check this place out; even if you have to wait it out.

Overall great place. Have been going for over 15 years. You now have to hunt for the value but still some great bargains. The intentions are there. Just a few parameters and people make it not worth the wait. Long lines to register/pay. Over zealous moonlighting cops securing the place very well but are horrible in the outside loading area creating logistical nightmares for customers, I get it everyone thinks they can direct traffic well.

Worst place. Very expensive. Bought some door. for $79 plus 10%, this come out $88, on top of that no trims. if you buy separate trims, then add another $20. This is coming out to be more expensive than home depot and if you have wrong size or anything, then no exchange. I bought 10 doors and one door, has the wrong size, they wont exchange it. Most of things are more expensive when add the price, the 10% commision and 3% credit card fees; you can see where it goes... not worth at all. You are better off home depot lowes

One of the best kept contractor secrets in Maryland (maybe I shouldnt be posting this) great places to get discounted prices on windows, doors, cabinets, appliances and most anything needed for home remodeling or repair. Well run and honest employees that generally point out any scratches or dents instead of trying to hide them. But this is an as is auction. Meaning you cant come back the day after and try to return something because you bought the wrong size. Know your sizes and do your home work before bidding.

Read This Before You Go. I attended the October auction. I read all the Google and Yelp reviews and all of the information on the company website, so I thought I was prepared for the event. Well, I wasnt; follow these dollar signs. On auction day, the items of my interest were new, but not open box new, and sold in an auction-type of style; however, the reserve minimums were not expected ($$). The opening bid was the reserve minimum and if no one took the bid they simply moved on to the next item vice dropping the bid and increasing from that point. That reserve price was non-negotiable. This is not an Everything Must Go auction and they have no problems not selling merchandise! For items that did not sell during the bidding, I observed customers come back and purchase those items for the reserve price. Also, auctions are happening simultaneously in different parts of the warehouse, so it is possible to miss out on some items of interest. While I successfully purchased cabinets and flooring, the savings were not as great once the dust settled. Because the cabinets are sold in pre-determined sets and sizes, I had to purchase additional pieces to complete my project ($$). If you need more pieces, or a size other than what came in a set, you would need to purchase the extra pieces from Southern Sales ($$). Then, when you factor in the Maryland Sales Tax ($$) and the 13% Buyers Premium for credit card purchases ($$), IT ADDS UP. I observed people paying more for a dishwasher than the price at Best Buy. Next, you will stand in a long line at the cashier window to pay for your items. You also must come prepared to load and haul your purchases that day, for which you will stand in another long line of similarly-tired customers while security checks off each and every item on your receipt. God help you if you have to make multiple trips to collect all items - like I did. If you order additional cabinets, you will pay a shipping fee ($$), BUT shipping is only to the Southern Sales warehouse NOT your residence. So, if you come from out of town, be prepared to make a return trip to Baltimore ($$). In the end, after the auction for cabinets and flooring, purchasing additional pieces, sales taxes, buyer premium, shipping costs, and an unplanned return trip to Baltimore, I saved a little money but overall it was not worth my time; but perhaps you will find it worth your time.

Some great deals, some not so great. Huge warehouse with lots and lots and lots of variety of items. Be wise in what you purchase. Not everything will be a good dealResponse from the ownerHi Greg - Thank you for your review. Would you be so kind as to provide us with specific details as to which items are not so great deals? To respond to the owners question, from my vantage point, the appliances didnt have great deals. The auction starting point was too high on some of them and even on Sunday, staff priced them higher than the auction starting point even though no one bought them at the lower price. I figure if you still see them on the floor after a few months, you will bend to the markets asking price and lower them.

Its a process....I went three times before I even bothered to bid on anything. You definitely need to know what you are looking for. Its not a place to randomly shop.A few examples, I needed 8 entry doors...These run about $1800 a piece. I ended up buying three for $350 a pop.I needed new windows. I bought 20 windows for $65 each ($275 retail)Warning though...there are some things that arent complete. Dont bid on things you arent 100% sure of what they are. People do this all the time. I even warn people when they are bidding that its not what they think it is, only to have them regretfully sell the item to me for less then they bought it for since its a completely useless item without other parts.Example: I bought what I thought was a complete door handle set. It was only the front of the door (handle only). Next month I went back to buy the back side of the door handle, someone bid the price up to $350. After the auction, I bought half of what he bought for $100 since he totally didnt need 20 inside door handles.Great place for new constructions or remodels, not worthwhile for anyone else.

We purchased a French Door for $250. Plus tax and 10% buyers premium everywhere else they ran from $950 - $1300 and thats just the beginning, cast iron tub for $25, the list goes on and on. Its hotter than Hades in summer and colder than the Arctic in the winter but well worth it. Wear your most comfortable shoes, plan on being there all day the day of the sale, Its a lot of walking and standing there is no seating except in the food area and if you stay in there too long you will miss your deal. Do yourself a favor, go to the preview the Friday before the sale, take notes, organize the things you are interested in and make notes of where they are located in the warehouse. Its a big place and more stuff than you can imagine. Also go in there knowing what items retail for, Dont be the Joe Homeowner DIYer that runs the bids up, and ends up paying more than you pay at a retail store. That is a lose, lose for everyone.

WE WENT TO PAY FOR THE MERCHANDISE AND FOUND THEY PUT SOMEONE ELSES NUMBER ON IT AND RAISED THE PRICE. THEY HAVE INSIDERS THAT PAY THEM UNDER THE TABLE AND THEY GET WHAT THEY WANT. When youre shopping in gray markets theres always risk as other reviewers have said. This isnt a walk in and get a steal, its walk in, keep your head on straight and have a lot of information and you MIGHT get a really good deal... or you might waste a lot of time. So choice is yours, pay retail and be done with it or take a change of getting burned or getting a great deal.

This place is rehabber porn. Its an awesome experience. If you come for the auctions be sure to listen first and learn the rules before chiming in. Pay Home Depot prices for top of the line merchandise. I spent lots more than my original plans, but 10 years later I still have a jaw dropping kitchen. Its no frills shopping in a +100K sq ft wharehouse but worth the trip. Bring your measurements, several measuring tapes, a method for getting it home and an open mind.

A three ring circus. Multiple auctioneers going at once. Definitely an acquired taste. An adrenaline rush for the bargain hound renovator or landlord or homeowner fixer upper looking for the right stuff to complete their project. Go Friday to see if they have what you want and to register for the auction--otherwise, the wait in line just to register could be over an hour on Saturday. The first time you go, figure out what is going on. After that, you may be able to get good things at terrific prices.

Had a few things there damaged (not badly) and a lot of stuff to mod your space at a decent price. The 10% for paying cash on top of the 6% may turn a lot of people away. But go and give it your own opinion. They may have what you need without any to minimal damage. They have auctions for other items or you can buy what you see on the main floor.Just check everything before you purchase. If Im not mistaken, all sales are final.

I am a new rehab investor. I love southern sales since I started shopping there 1 Year ago. It is confusing, overwhelming, exhausting and fast paced. But the prices and deals you stumble upon are worth all of the sweat. Be prepared with measurements, specs, etc if you intend to purchase. Bring measuring tape and take pics of items including model numbers, if you want to research value, reviews. Most of their inventory is a higher quality than what I find in the other big hardware stores. The prices are usually much less if it happens to be an item that the big hardware sells. Do your homework.Or you can learn the hard way like I did. I didnt have my specs in order, I impulsively purchased items because it was such a good price, and coordinating getting those heavy items home is a chore too. You have until Monday to pickup without a fee. They dont load your vehicle so be prepared to lift and have a vehicle large enough to move without damage. I found a few truck rental companys like Budget rent 12 foot trucks for $25 day plus mileage. You can use 1 way service to save miles, no need for round trip.If you find that you bought stuff you didnt need, I have had no problem reselling my mistake purchases on Craigslist, letitgo. Most times I sold for what I paid or more.I highly recommend this place for any and all home projects

Dont go here thinking this is an auction, I would more describe it as a store where you have the opportunity to pay more than the regular sale price. 90% of auctions went like this: starting bids were similar to retail, no bids, no sale, move on to next item (starting bid not lowered if no sale). If youre looking for windows you could get a good deal but most other things were over priced, waste of time in general. Not an auction house.

It is an auction house once a month and a store front to sell 1/10th of the items the rest of the time. They are in the business of moving products and getting paid on the auction charge of 10% add 3% if you are paying credit card. Cash / debit has no fee. Also add Maryland tax.For the auction the preview on Friday before is highly recommended. Research what you are looking at & what you need. Register on Friday.Auction starts Saturday around 10. It is over by 3.The multiple auctioneers working the floor are calm, and respectful to the needs of the bidders. It is a family run business with high quality products. Typically a BBQ vendor comes and sets up inside the building. The only heaters are propane run so dress for outdoor weather.Hardwood flooring in the bulk lots is going to be less than 1/2 the price in a standard store. Vanities in the center of the place will go for less than 1/3 the Home Depot price and they are higher quality. The other vanities closer to the appliances are unique special orders from anywhere you would be looking. Some of the appliances arent the crap at Best Buy, it would likely be items higher quality similar something from Bray & Scarff (but B&S doesnt sell Electrolux). Think Sub Zero, Miel, Thermador, Bertazzoni... There are a ton of windows, exterior doors & interior doors. The interior doors are very well priced for the large variety they carry. You can get a complete kitchen cabinet package for under $5,000.Deals Ive purchased include appliance packages, wine cooler, washer dryer sets, $400 double door which was a custom Home Depot order retailing for $2,200+, vanities, pallet of Kohler faucets, 10+ toilets...
