I’m so glad I got the blessing to do this course with Instructor Michael, he is so passionate and incredible at teaching exactly what you need to know about keeping yourself safe and highly trained to conceal carry! Thanks for living your mission and being a guardian angel on earth, Mike! I now feel a million times safer and confident about my safety.
The LTC class was very enjoyable. The instructor is a natural story teller and he delivered the information in the best possible way. I would recommend getting the license even with the new laws. It was fun and very affordable with the range test included in the price of the class. You can bring your own pistol and rounds or rent one there. Eye and ear protection is provided. Overall I have no complaints and would highly recommend.
If you’re into guns and stuff…. do NOT take your business to Central Texas Gun Works!!! I bought my dad a gift card to buy a particular gun he wanted for Father’s Day in 2020. My experience at the store went like this… it took nearly 10-15 minutes before anyone spoke to me (including the owner who was working the desk). I could not buy a gift card in store, had to be online only(a little strange but whatever). What’s worse is the customer service my dad received. They do not return phone calls when they say they will. My dad had literally been waiting about a year and a half before he finally just changed his order. I have half the mind to ask for my money back.I will never go there again, and do not recommend them to anyone.
One friendly staff member, the phone operator was incredibly rude when I inquired why my firearm was 5 weeks late and the only explanation he offered was it would be another two weeks or he would love to give you a refund.I ordered through a friend FFL and it was here in 3 days. I will discourage my friends and you from supporting this establishment and would recommend the range or sportsmans finest, unless you would like to have a similar experience as I had. Just because they support the second amendment doesnt mean they deserve your business that is the power of a free market.
Excellent instructor (M. Cargill) and interactive instruction provided an entertaining and informative classroom experience . My expectations were exceeded with his presentation of information and story telling method of discussing key points for taking the CHL testing. Even with Constitutional carry available in Texas, this course provided useful in depth information. Highly recommend this course even if you are considering carrying with the current law.
My order didn’t come in, so they offered me a different cooler firearm, good service
Have been to the location on different occasions...including for the SARC.Always appreciate the great customer service.
I took my CHL/LTC class here. The price of the class is very reasonable and includes both the classroom and range portions, plus breakfast tacos! Michael Cargill, the business owner and instructor, is a very charismatic man and an absolute wealth of knowledge about firearms, safety and Texas law. His class was fun, engaging and informative, and he was happy to answer any and all questions we had. At the range, located about 15 minutes away, ear and eye protection were provided. Overall, I had an enjoyable experience and learned a lot. I would recommend this class to anyone interested in obtaining their Texas LTC.
Had the pleasure of completing my CHL class with Michael Cargill. He was extremely knowledgeable and passionate about his work and it showed. Kept everyone engaged, made everyone feel welcome, and the class was fun and enjoyable. I’d highly recommend booking with CTGW, you will not be disappointed!
FANTASTIC firearms store with a good selection of handguns and long guns to choose from. 9mm in stock with no purchase limitations(as of this moment) and a well informed and helpful staff . I drive an hour to do all my shopping here because this business is locally owned and operated by a real 2A advocate.
Mike is an excellent instructor, patient and knowledgeable. I was struggling with the recoil of my DB9, so he swapped me out with one of his rentals for free.
I took the CHL class with Mike Cargill and had a blast. What I expected beforehand and what I experienced were two completely different things. Most of these classes are typically boring and monotonous but Mike Cargill came into class full of energy, knowledge and passion for his job. He answered every rapid fire question the class threw at him and told insightful anecdotes that helped me connect the dots between gun regulations, safety, and best practices. I’d take this class again simply to listen and hear Mike go through his stories! Highly recommend to anyone seeking to understand Texas gun laws and wants to have fun doing it!
The staff at Central Texas Gun Works are very professional. I’ve purchased one gun from CTGW and ran through four FFL transfers. The price they charge for an FFL transfer is fair and they make the process extremely smooth. Matt is who I’ve worked with on all of my FFLs and he is awesome. They recently updated the process to all digital which is an added bonus. Central Texas Gun Works is legit. Thanks for the great customer service!
FFL transfer staff need a lot of work. There email correspondence indicated 2-4 hour turnaround. They store received merchandise and had it for well over 6 hours and still couldnt it ready to go. @michaeldcargill staff needs help. First time I have had any issues with this organization, at the very least, email correspondence should reflect appropriate and or realistic turnaround times.
Michael Cargill is the BEST instructor there is. Don’t even bother looking for another place to get your license because you WILL be glad you went here. I walked in excited and nervous, walked out confident and proud. I will recommend this place to anybody and everybody who is considering getting their license to carry.
If you are wanting to take a LTC class, I recommend only taking the class from Michael. His class was very informative and the energy was top rate. He is an expert in the Texas gun laws and I fully trust his knowledge. Class was fun, he made you feel comfortable and engaged. His teaching and passion about the LTC class is like none that I have experienced. You will not be disappointed. The staff there is nice and friendly. Thanks Texas Gun Works.
Standing there for ten minutes before the man said anything to me. Not sure if this is black-owned I saw no black people. Would not recommend!
Had a nice experience. Friendly staff. Fast help. It was a good FFL transfer experience.
Took my LTC class here and couldn’t be happier! I was alone in a class full of people who came in pairs, so I was initially pretty anxious. But Michael came in and made everyone feel so welcomed. You can tell he knows this information inside and out. And it truly reflected in his teaching. He made class SO fun that the information felt easier to retain. I hope to take some more classes taught by him. He’s a well of knowledge and experience!
Got trigger work done on fudd rifles and some touch ups on the stock of one. Great value, communication with gun smith, and no eye rolls for bringing in fudd rifles like at The Range. Got my AR lower here and will do any ffl transfers in the future. Great place and staff.
Michael Cargill does not support Constitutional Carry. Just a other instructor in favor of denying Texans right to self defense because he directly financially benefits from the permiting process. Find an instructor who is acting pro 2A.
Big ups to Mr. Car gill loved the LTC class today...You gonna learn today.
Fast and affordable transfers. The conceal carry class was amazing. Highly recommend.
Highly recommend the CHL/LTC course! Michael does an amazing job and makes everyone feel comfortable! Very knowledgeable and experienced!
My experience was mixed. I brought in 3 rifles for various work to be done and an FFL transfer.Staff: Matt helped me both times and was friendly, professional and helpful. You can tell he loves his job. Also spoke to Freedom over the phone and he was great.FFL: Process went amazingly well. In and out in 20 minutes.Work: I went to pick up my rifles. I spoke to the gunsmith via phone and asked for all 3 to be cleaned and sighted. I also requested stock work on one and a magazine to be fitted on another. It is clear one of the rifles was not sighted in, as it doesnt hit paper even at 25 yards. The altered magazine jams on the last round, every time, which suggests it wasnt tested. The final gun, I was told one of the brackets was put on upside down and Id just have to live with it. I fixed it last night in about 10 minutes. Not sure what I was charged for or what was done; an itemized final list was not provided. My bill was around $150 higher than the estimate but granted, it was an estimate.I understand that sometimes certain things discussed verbally, cannot be done or done perfectly. I also understand that everyone is swamped right now. I will take responsibility for not being more pushy about a list but I think it would be good that final work or variations in agreed upon work is listed. I would have had no way to know that the guns still had issues if I did not take them to the range the next day. I do not want to smear a business but now I have to take 2 of the 3 rifles to a different place, wait another 2 weeks and pay more. Just a little frustrating.
Best place to buy your gun. Other places will simply say they dont have stock and dismiss you. Not here they ordered my gun for me even though it was back ordered. They advised to get what I want even if it will take a little longer I will be much happier. The gun came in before estimated time frame they gave me. Went in on my lunch break to pick it up and was in and out in no time. After shopping around and having bad experiences other places these guys have a customer for life.
Paid for a springfield 911.One year later they still did not deliver the gun. They never replied to any of four emails.I went to the store in person and it took them an hour to tell me they did not have the gun, but they did issue a full refund.Plenty of stores had this in stock during this time.
Great experience! Instructor was very thorough in explaining gun safety! I am now more comfortable with handling my handgun and will recommend this class to all of my friends who are seeking an LTC!!
Do you guys ship to omaha?
Such a great and easy experience! Owner and instructor, Michael, makes the class so fun while teaching all of the most important things. I would recommend his LTC class to everyone!
Out there doing there thing in a pandemic. Bought a box of 5.56 for an expensive price but cant say its their fault. Friendly and offered advice. Wish they could carry more ammo
If the garage door is shut you wont know that ste#203 is there. It is NOT the hardware store at at ste#207.
The instructor was very knowledgeable and made the class interesting and fun.
Very POOR communication and customer service. I ordered something on their website to be delivered to their store for pick up. Ive been giving TWO different tracking dates/pickup days and I still have NOT received a phone call for my item to be picked up - once again, AFTER said pickup date. We have bought multiple things from them before BUT after this experience Im ready to take our business elsewhere. Absolutely ridiculous.
Michael is an incredible enthusiast and teacher. The smartest gun owner Ive ever met, a fun teacher, and clearly passionate about doing the right thing, the right way, the smartest way possible. Won a loyal customer.
Michael is very knowledgeable and super friendly. Had a good time in the LTC class today, and I would go back for my classes. And look forward to being a patron of his business from here on out.
I took the LTC class with Michael Cargill. Hes a great instructor, running an informative and engaging class. I would highly recommend taking youre class with him.
My husband and I took the LTC course. Michael Cargill is a fantastic instructor. Hes knowledgeable, patient, professional, funny and makes you feel comfortable. My mom and I took his beginners pistol course as well and we loved it!! Central Texas Gun Works is number 1!!!!
I am new to Texas and was looking for a place to take my LTC class. I decided to try this place and was impressed with the quality of instruction and the passion Michael has for the topic. I highly recommend for anyone else who is looking for a class.Since taking the class I have used them as my FFL for multiple transfers without issue. They have a great system in place and are handling the massive demand as well as you could hope any business too. These are extraordinary times and a lot of the recent negative reviews seem to not realize what has happened in the last few months especially in regards to firearms.
My advice to anyone considering purchasing a gun from this store: Dont expect to receive the gun any time soon. Dont expect them to have the gun that you purchased online in stock. Dont expect them to call you back when they say they will. Dont believe them when they say your gun will be shipped next week. DO expect them to act like youre being an inconvenience for calling during their peak time (like we know what peak hours for gun store are).Since I couldnt give zero stars, I guess the one star is for me getting a refund without much hassle. I do appreciate that part.
Consise, fun and extremely informative class. Mr. Cargill and his staff are top notch! Mr. Cargill is a master at what he does and Texas should be proud he is on our side!
The staff appeared knowledgeable but they were very predatory. I went in to inquire about a handgun their website said was in stock, they informed me it wasnt actually in stock and then pressured me to buy an sccy that was much lower quality than the gun I had in mind (pressured as in they were still pushing me to buy it on the spot after I said multiple times the gun wasnt comfortable in my hands, I didnt know anything about the brand, and didnt feel comfortable spending *that* much money without a little research). Ultimately I took my business elsewhere due to how uncomfortable the staff made me
The workers here are knowledgeable and helpful. I recieved good quality service when I went for a FFL transfer.
Everything about this place, and their classes was phenomenal. I highly recommend them to everyone
Been doing business with Central Texas Gun Works for about 3 years now. I have purchased several handguns and parts. Getting the parts delivered takes forever. I am not here to degrade nor impedes anyones business. But, I will be taking my business to another establishment where I can get the parts in a timely manner.
I recently went through Michaels LTC course. My fellow students ranged from senior citizens, hipsters, women, men, couples, veterans and active duty military. He taught everyone equally. Constantly answering a wide variety of questions with first hand knowledge and accuracy, taking the time to ensure we were armed with information, facts and confidence. The class room environment was welcoming. Michael engaged us, asking what we would do in similar situations and challenged us to think of the outcomes. While on the range, Michael continued to teach thoese who needed help. There was no pressure, no judgment and no comparing. Just a great time! There are a lot of choices in the greater Austin area as far as LTC courses are concerned. I considered others but I am EXTREMELY HAPPY that I decided to go with Central Texas Gun Works. Michael and his team are top notch.I would recommend anyone take Michaels class. Dont be afraid or feel like you will be judged. YOU WILL HAVE A GREAT TIME! and you will gain a vast amount of knowledge in a short amount of time. The only regret I have is not taking his course early.
Walked in looking to see if they had a Glock 17 or sig m17. A worker behind the counter asked me if I needed help and I said I was just looking. A few moments later he asked me to remove my hands from my pockets because I was making him nervous. I Did not know that putting your hands in your pockets was weird or illegal, especially since other customers in the store had their hands in their pockets. Won’t be buying from here ever.
Great place. Order my handgun online received my phone call when the gun arrived. All the staff was great. I will be making another visit there to purchase other guns and ammo.
Made an online purchase with Central Texas Gun Works. Communication has been completely absent despite 6 attempts to get any form of order information from this company. They always promise to call me back and never do. Day after day. So I quit trying and reported them to the BBB.I made this order at the end of November. Now I am worried it wont even get here for Christmas. This company has been a nightmare to deal with and I cant charge it back because I wanted to support a company that accepts Bitcoin. At this point I am concerned that I just lost over $500 to these clowns. If you paid with a credit card, consider yourself lucky.
I cant say enough good things about Michael Cargill and his LTC class. The guy is super knowledgeable. The class is very educational and Mr. Cargill is a very funny guy! I think he should do stand-up comedy! I anticipate coming back for some purchases. Great place in South Austin 👍
I went here to order a Taurus TX22 and I received some of the best service from Matthew. One of the most pleasant interactions I’ve had shopping. I would recommend this shop highly.
I have had mixed experiences with CenTex Gun Works. I purchased one firearm through them, used them for three antique transfers, and took a concealed carry class with them. All these experiences were fantastic. However, for six months now I’ve been submitting requests for private firearm training on the website, as well as calling in person, but to no avail. I’ve never tried so hard to give a business my money, and at this point, I’ve given up.
Great instructor, interesting and engaging class. I highly recommend it.
Dont EVER use this shop for an FFL transfer, especially one requiring a Form 4. Because of their incompetence, Ive lost TWO YEARS waiting to receive a a simple suppressor for hunting purposes.I think Michael is a decent guy and appreciate his advocacy. But he and his staff completely botched critical correspondence with the ATF and with me. What should have been a normal wait period has turned into a nightmare. I would have also appreciated a direct apology and some ownership of the failure. Everyones struggled with COVID, but its not an excuse for unprofessionalism.
Took my LTC class here and oh man, Michael kills it by providing a very engaging and thoughtful class. This class lasts nearly 6 hours, of which I was thoroughly engaged with the content and the way Michael delivered everything. You can really tell how much passion this man has for the content he teaches and for guns themselves. I wouldnt recommend any other place to take classes
Placed order more than 5 weeks ago, no update, called 5 times (10am-2pm on weekdays), on one answered the phone. Extremely disappointed. The seller replied to this review, claimed that the order was cancelled b/c of my negative review, but I never received refund, FRAUD!
Purchased my first handgun from here. Found them online with very competitive prices and solid reviews. Also ordered a holster as well. Picked up my handgun a couple weeks later and spoke with a very helpful gentleman who explained everything in detail and answered all questions. Very friendly staff and no added pressure. Will definitely be looking at my next purchase from them.
I took the Texas CCL class here. Michael Cargill is extremely knowledgeable and an engaging teacher. The class was big and diverse enough (newbies, experienced shooters, male, female, young, old) to share interesting questions but not so big that there wasn’t personal attention. Range work (off-site) was well organized, and safe. Highly recommended.
The LTC class was an incredible experience! Michael was engaging, animated, and captivating in his presentation of the information. You can tell he has spent a lot of time crafting his class and is passionate about his mission. I highly recommend people sign up to take their LTC class with Michael and Central TX Gunworks
It took 7 weeks to receive our item. We called every week for 5 weeks to see if our item arrived once it was ordered. They told us every week they will call or email us when it is received. We waited and finally called again for an update on week 7. And of course our item was in but we weren’t notified. Once we received the item, the label said it was received two weeks prior and we were not notified. I will not shop here again.
Great service, friendly ppl, definitely recommend
I thoroughly enjoyed taking my LTC class at CTGW. The instructors were sharp, friendly and informative. The owner Michael Cargill is a particularly inspirational individual. His insights, from more than a year ago, still ring clear in my mind because of how concisely and passionately he delivered them.
I have purchased several firearms from this business with not even as much as a hiccup. Purchasing a product at a time that everyone else is panick buying what do you thinks going to happen. Have you had any problem buying toilet paper at your local grocery store? Blaming CTGW because you waited at the worst possible time ever to purchase a firearm is nobodys fault but your own. Thank you CTGW and Im anxiously waiting for my current order.
Michael puts on a great LTC class. He is clearly passionate about gun ownership, but also responsible, lawful and common sense use and handling of guns. Hes energetic and engaging while presenting a lot of dry law based material which keeps everyone invested. Highly recommend Central Texas Gun Works for your LTC or any other fire arms training.
I purchased two guns from Central Texas Gun works on January 23rd, 2020. I received a receipt for my purchase, paid in full, on January 25th. I called the shop shortly thereafter to inquire about how long it would take for me to receive my weapons. I was told that it typically takes 10 days for their shop to receive the inventory through a 3rd party, and that my weapons would then be forwarded to my FFL in 2 days with tracking info. On February 10th, I called the shop, who for some unknown reason could not locate my purchase order and didn’t know what I was talking about. Upon being forwarded by phone to the owner, Michael Cargill, he too had difficulty finding my purchase order. Once found, I was told that the weapons I ordered were not in the shop, and that they were scheduled to be delivered to the shop on Friday February 14th. On Saturday, February 15th, I called the shop, who again had difficult finding my purchase order, and was told that they didn’t come in. I gave the shop until February 25th until I engaged the owner, Michael Cargill by email, requesting a status update on my order. He again told me that it was scheduled to be delivered to their shop on February 28th. On Tuesday March 10th, I called the owner, Michael Cargill, who for the third time said “it’s scheduled to depart here on Friday”.Dealing with this company so far has been infuriating. The employees are largely incompetent and untrained on basic tasks such as checking on the status of a customers order or being able to discern whether a gun is in the shop or not. My advice would be to steer clear of this company like the Corona Virus.*** Update: 06/27/2020 ***This worthless excuse for a company recently had their BBB accreditation pulled, response from the BBB provided below:BBB files indicate that this business has a pattern of complaints alleging significant delays in receiving products ordered. Customers also allege difficulties receiving responses to inquiries about their order. On May 7, 2020, BBB submitted a written request to the company encouraging them to address the pattern of complaints. As of June 12, 2020, BBB has had no response.
Ordered in early April. Refunded today. Good luck, CTGW.
I have waited 3 months for my handgun to come in and no one has called me or even sent me a email if i could give them a zero i would
Recently used them for an FFL transfer and it went very well. They have to process the gun when it comes in delaying the process by a few hours... but, if you can be patient, it’s a smooth process. Other FFL dealers I have dealt with allow you to show up as soon as it’s delivered.
All staff was friendly, professional, and knowledgeable. Went here for my LTC course taught by Austin. Its fairly dry material, but he did a great job making it interesting. Will definitely come back for my refresher.
Expert instruction from industry professionals.
I took the LTC course with Michael today and had a fantastic experience. As a second amendment activist, he was extremely knowledgeable in all aspects of carrying and operating a firearm as well as the legal side of self defense. During the shooting portion of the test, Michaels assistant was extremely encouraging and helpful to my girlfriend (second time firing a handgun); he gave pointers in between each round to help her shoot more accurately and confidently. I wouldnt have wanted to go anywhere else for this course.
Absolutely terrible. I ordered a Mossberg Shotgun from them, and was told it would arrive in 2-3 weeks. I called after 4 weeks, and was lied to about the gun arriving in the next few days...which happened over and over a dozen times throughout the next 3 weeks. They kept saying it would be in the next day every time I called and then the last 6 times they said it was in Austin, but they hadnt unboxed it or unloaded it yet. I spoke with the owner on 3 occasions where he promised it would be in within a couple days, and it never arrived. They never once called me back. After almost 2 months passed, I asked for a refund, and they said they couldnt process it. Three calls later, I finally said I would have to report it as fraud if they didnt give me my money back, and they finally submitted my refund. Almost two months later, I finally got my money back. Worst gun shop....no...worst business Ive ever dealt with in my entire life. An absolute nightmare.
Michael is an outstanding instructor. He was funny, kept us engaged during the LTC class, was extremely knowledgeable, and he is very involved in protecting your constitutional right to carry. I would highly recommend attending his classes.
I took my TLC class today and had very good experience with Mike, and staff were all very professional. Mike is extremely knowledgeable of the gun laws, very important to know, so glad I came here. We all went to the gun range which was pretty cool. I will be back to purchase a hand gun in the near future.I highly recommend all new gun owners come here and take their class, they wont make you feel like they are better than you. I am prior military and I have only used a long gun never a hand gun, they all were so easy to get along with, made me feel really comfortable and I felt I learned a lot.
The ten hours I spent here.. were fantastic. I met great people and all the instructors are awesome. I love the humor, it makes the class fun! Never thought it was going to be fun. Out at the shooting, I was needing help, and with no hesitation, they were there to do it, and in a very professional way. Anyone wanting a CHL this is where you want to go get it. Mike provides breakfast and lunch, which makes the day easier and again, very wonderful staff. Great time today!
Amazing staff and good prices. They stayed late so I could pick up my firearm transfer after work and they have an amazing LTC course that gives you all the resources and information you need to obtain your certification. Wish I could give 10 stars
The LTC class was painless because the instructors did a great job of being both informative and engaging. The 6 hours flew by. I left with both more technical knowledge of the law and thinking about the morals of use of force and the consequences of action/inaction. Plus we had pizza!
This used to be a very reliable shop that had a good business model, reasonable prices good service. In the past three months that all changed when their armorer left. Example several months ago I had a new sight put on a handgun, the price was $15... it takes about 10 minutes but it was convenient. I went in today and the price is now $45, when I inquired why the price rose so much, I was told that there former guy left and that what he was charging was a steal.... maybe so but it got business in the door, I will not be going back and the three guns I brought in today, I changed out the sights and saved $135. Greed will get you every time.
Just finished fire arm safety class today. The class includes two parts. Class room session about 2 hours and range shooting with 4 different type of guns. Both instructors (Stephen and Brian) explained into detail and one on one session during shooting. Great class for beginners, highly recommended
Took my CHL Class yesterday and it was VERY informative. Not a lot of dry facts just pulled out of the book and put up on a board. Many good videos, some humorous, many more thought provoking. What was that idiot thinking? was said more than once. Maybe, hopefully, seeing those videos will make us stop & think twice, when we have a gun jam or have to take a shot, and be more aware of our surroundings, if an innocent bystander can get hurt.Oh, and the Pizza, Pizza!! lunch wasnt bad either...Class moved at steady pace with questions asked and answered. Basic gun handling & safety were emphasized, with little tweaks and pointers for better control & accuracy.I would wholeheartedly recommend Central Texas Gun Works to anyone who is looking for a CHL Class in the Austin area.
I took my LTC class here. The instructor Austin was great, the owner Michael was awesome! The sales staff was wonderful also! I couldn’t have asked for a better experience! Highly recommend this business!
Took my CHL class here years ago. Very professional and the owner is a welcoming and funny guy.
We loved the class and have already recommended to friends and look forward to coming back!
Took my LTC class at CTGW and would highly recommend them to anyone looking to do the same. Class was very informative and far from boring. Havent used them for a FFL transfer but plan to next time I need to.
Michael is a great instructor. Highly recommend to anyone looking to get their ltc.
I have taken two courses here, and am looking at buying a seat at a course for my wife. There is no one I would trust more than Michael Cargill and his CTGW staff. Fantastic people and great instructors.
Have been shooting for 50 years, I am a High Master High Power shooter, a Distinguished Rifleman and was for many years an NRA Instructor in a number of disciplines. I took my CHL class here and thought they did an excellent job. My wife did a short time later and she was made to feel very comfortable the entire time and enjoyed herself. I have referred them to many without a single negative being reported.
Just attended the LTC class at Central Texas Gun Works - HIghly recommended. The class was very informative, they stayed on teaching task and the class was also very interesting. Michael Cargill and his staff have a strong knowledge of Texas gun laws, gun safety and key tips to share with you to keep you safe and informed while providing a friendly fun atmosphere. Michael is passionate about this training and wants you all to learn. The class included lunch and the info covered was perfect to pass both the written exam and ready you for the range portion of the exam. When you leave you have all the information and paperwork you need to submit and complete the DPS application process. Why go anywhere else? Go to thte best and see these guys. Great job!
Absolutely loved this class! It could have been really dry and boring, but Michael kept it engaging and funny, and also let us ask any question we wanted. For anyone considering getting their license to carry, I strongly recommend Central Texas Gun Works!
This is a great place. I took my LTC course there and Mike knows what hes doing. So do his instructors. Soon, Ill send my daughter there for her LTC, Ive been in there several times and everyone has been very helpful. Mike always answers questions concerning what to do and what not to do. Hes always willing to help. I wouldnt put a lot of faith into these sniper 1 stars you are seeing. Chances are, they are mostly nut jobs. Theres always gonna be that. Not to mention Im sure some anti 2A folks. Mike C does a lot for gun owners in this town and I appreciate it. Anytime I have extra money, Im there! Thank you Michael C and the staff at central Texas gun works!
Michael and his staff are top notch. Took my LTC class here and it was one of the best classes I’ve ever attended. Great energy and teaching. They make sure you know the laws and safety to own and operate a firearm. I will be doing business with these guys and gals in the future.
Concealed Handgun License classes here are interesting and well prepared. The owner and staff clearly care about what they do and their customers. The class fee is very reasonable compared to competitors (and dont be fooled by half-price coupon offers from others on those online sites, compare the actual prices) and includes same-day firing range arrangements. The range, while not close by, is fine. There is also a retail store on the premise and gunsmithing available, so its pretty much a one stop shop for your self defense needs.
Gotta give this place 5 stars for customer service. I made a mistake ordering a handgun (I ordered the wrong model on accident) and they allowed me to return the incorrect model and order the one I wanted with only paying a restocking fee. It was my mistake and they couldve told me to go pound sand (which is probably what wouldve happened to most gun stores) so Im very grateful they did that and Ill definitely be doing the rest of my firearm purchases there. Mike and his employees are all very knowledgeable and professional.
Hands down my favorite local gun shop. Their online inventory is much larger than the in-store inventory, and youll need to wait a few days for your order to arrive, but the friendliness of the staff and the variety of classes they offer is very much worth it. Theyve expanded stock on hand a bit to include various MSR parts, which is really handy given that the AR-oriented business that used to be right next door has since closed.
The instruction is excellent, and they have an inventory worth stopping in to check out. Everyone who works there, including the owner, Michael Cargill, is very helpful and easy to get along with. The owner also has a radio talk show which I enjoy listening to.
The wife and I had a good experience taking the conceal carry class. Staff was helpful and very nice and Mike, the owner who also conducted the training session, was very knowledgeable and kept the class engaging. Funny guy too, so you wouldnt get bored!Good place to take the class and learn about TX carry laws.
I purchased a handgun via the CTGW website on 1/3/20. My credit card was charged and the transaction processed and approved immediately. The order instructions noted to give it 10 days order time for the gun to arrive at the store. I waited 2 weeks, no communication from anyone at the store. On 1/17/20, Friday, I called to check the status of my order. After a few moments on hold, the clerk said it would be in next week. I waited till 1/22, nothing from CTGW so I make another call. A different clerk answered the phone and asked for my order number and made the strange comment you ordered this on January 3rd!!?? Sure did. She puts me on hold about 5 minutes then comes back with a comment that the gun I ordered was out of stock, not available, then said Sig was no longer making that model. Her tone was it was my fault I ordered that model. I told her, and have proof, there was nothing on the CTGW site indicating there was any issue of ordering that specific model. I was now told Michael Cargill, owner, would call me. I let a couple more days go by, no calls from anyone and I sent multiple emails with no response. So I call again and finally get Mr. Cargill. He said they have been backed up and the issue with my order so I provided him with another model. After being told no issue with the new model order he would get it taken care of. This was on 1/24 and he said it would be in the following week. Next week comes and goes, nothing, no communication or anything. I call again, and as has been standard the clerk said its not in, has no idea what the issue is and transfers me to Cargill. Cargill again gives an excuse they have been backed up but will not really answer the question on whats going on with my order. He offers to make it right by giving me free ammo! Great, ammo but no gun to use it with. So on 1/31 Cargill said my order will be in the store possibly Wednesday 2/5 and no later than Thursday 2/6. You guess it, no calls, no communications from CTGW. I call on the 6th and get transferred to Cargill who either cant or just wont explain what is going on. I tell him I would give him till Monday the 10th. I have to call the store on Tuesday the 11th, get transferred to Cargill. I ask what the deal is and it was clear he did not want to talk and simply said two times, just wait for the call, just wait for the call Here we are 2/13, I am out over $750.00 that CTGW has been playing with, I have no handgun and just get the runaround from Cargill and his staff. Something is very wrong with this business. I will be taking all the formal action I can take against CTGW, Michael Cargill, to recover my funds.UPDATE2/14/20, 5:45pm, Mr. Cargill returns my call. He refunded the full amount of the order back to my card. Since this was after business hours on a Friday of a holiday weekend, the refund formally processed on 2/18.
