If you are unfamiliar with this store Id recommend looking for another one. Cool store, rude staff. If youve been to this store and are familiar with it then you should be fine. Fourth time visiting this store and the short woman with short hair (not an insult, just a description of the employee) decided that I was suspicious and treated my like a 2nd class citizen. I have the whole story typed out and was ready to post it but it exceeded the character limit for reviews.

Good selection, but 90% of the stock is without a case, water damaged, or outright torn to shreds. The quality assurance is not as high as a store like Gameover, but they attempt to make up for that with new releases and other nerdy hobby stuff like Trading Card Games.Also strict with mask stuff. If youre not interested in shopping with or supporting a business that mandates mask usage, itd be best to shop elsewhere.

Wish I could give 6 stars. Didn’t have my mask on and got a free mask. FedEx messed up an order and didn’t deliver on time for my kids bday. Called them right before they closed and had the console ready to go and customer service was phenomenal.

They want $40 for a $20 game, lol. Prices definitely need to corrected. I bought a strategy guide, the sticker on the book said $7.99 but when I went to buy it they said it was actually $14.99, which according to the FTC is NOT OKAY! I ended up talking them back down, but I shouldnt have had to do that. A REAL business wouldnt do that.Game selection was mediocre, nothing exciting or worth buying really. Stick to eBay.

Great store merchandise. But the issue here is it is Very hit or Miss depending who is working. Sometimes they have 5 or 6 people working in the store and you will go unacknowledged aka (ignored). Its not tv we can see you! Type thing. Then other times you walk in and there is on person working and you get the best customer service with questions answered with some good knowledge included. But more often then not I have the Intial type of service I describedBut this store will probably have what your looking for.

Overpriced on most items might as well check Amazon or other local places they charge on high end for pops/cards/games and buy so low they would make GameStop blush

The space is chocked full of fun and interesting items, especially if youre in the market for TCG packs or some older games. I hadnt been there in a handful of years but man am I glad a friend reminded me of it. The staff is kind & fun to talk to, the store layout is easy to navigate, and Ill definitely be looking forward to future trips there.

Hidden gem of a retro gaming store tucked into South Austin; large selection of games and movies! If youre just into gameplay for CD-based systems and dont need a mint copy, ask about the disc only selection- prices are reasonable, average for Ebay and other vendors. Trade-in credit is solid. If you buy here, you support a local shop, dont have to pay shipping, might get a nice coupon, *and* you have a good return policy. Everybody here is quite knowledgeable about gaming, Bobby and Sal especially are treasures and more than happy to help you out. Will gladly recommend this shop to more friends and family!

Been in multiple times. Always great service and extremely friendly. Just sold a lot of my gaming hoard and they paid much more than other places in town. They even realized they under paid me for something after I left and reached out to me to give me the rest of the money even though they didn’t have to. That is customer service and they have earned my business and trust.

I came here to get another PS3 controller cause the off brand one I bought online was crapping out. Wowie, I didn’t know the were still pricey, I thought PS3 was becoming obsolete. After speaking to a representative, he suggested I try a remote control for my PS3, I HAD NO IDEA THIS WAS A THING. I’m grateful for that gentleman, he saved me 40 bucks and even sold me the one he was using (with batteries included, probably a mistake) to make sure I would receive a working one. Thank you so much sir! You’ve changed my life.

When I brought in my Nintendo64 and collection, they gave me a really fair price where other stores insulted me with a ridiculously low one. They also havexreally friendly staff and if they dont have what youre looking for in stock, you can sign up for alerts so if it does come in you can get it! I cant wait to start up my ps2 collection again, gonna get it from these fellas.

Sold me a broken Game, and a broken controller.I had bought a game and controller from them early last year and had been excited as I just had bought my Gamecube, I only had one controller for it so I went to buy a second one, and a game. I spent all of my earned money at the time on them, and was excited when I got home to try out my new game, and for a while thought my gamecube was broken. It turned out that the disk I bought with the system, and the disc I bought from Gamefellas were both beyond repair, and I was unable to return within the time for repair, so they took my money on an unchecked disk, and a controller with a damaged joystick. 2/10 Probably wont go back.Customer service was nice though.

Manager was extremely helpful, even to the point of offering to ship us anything wed like to purchase in the future (as we dont live in Austin). And amazingly, his game and guide prices beat even eBay. Wish he had a location in Dallas.

Im a pretty avid gamer and have had nothing but great experiences at gamefellas. Im a person that tends to hoard games and consoles, and trading in for store credit was a pretty great experience. They gave me a fair price for the trade-ins, and had fair pricing on their used titles. My most recent experience was trading in my 3DS for my switch upgrade. Bobby took the time to price out each of my trade-ins and their staff made recommendations on games I must have for my new console. Their recent POS system upgrade is great since it makes tracking purchases and store credit that much easier. I would highly recommend them!

The people that were in that night were extremely nice and even joked around with us about GameStop (because they are absolute trash). They provided fair prices for the games we wanted to trade in and were pretty fast at it. Its just a plus that they are so close. Being a collector i will definitely be giving them alot more business.

Perfect local game store that has everything you could need.

I was overwhelmed at first because of the magnitude of inventory but thats in no way a negative. Staff could be friendlier but I had zero issues getting helped and love the 90 day warranty. Feels like a true old school game store. The way they organize by genre for some systems was a bit much to adjust to but its cool. Will be back.

Hands down BEST game store in the city! theowner got my psp up and running he had every part and game I needed for the best price he has all parts for every game system they even have movies! So forget about game stop and game over trying to get over on you for some used games,they cant compete with the friendly staff and fire deals at gamefellas, simple and plain

Hello everyone. First of all, I am a longtime retro gamer, and collector. I also collect music, movies, art, books, gemstones and more. Every city I live in or visit, I search out used media shops. I currently live in South Austin, and my three favorites here in the hill country region of Texas are GameFellas (South Austin), The D-Pad (New Braunfels), and Game Over (Several locations).I have been going to Game Fellas for about SEVEN years now and have NEVER had a bad experience. Bobby, who is the GM of the store, is always helpful and knowledgeable. This also goes for the employees at the store as well. Sal, who is one of the current employees, is fun to talk to and has the kindest energy. Truly a wonderful human being.As for the store, the selection and prices are some of the best in the Hill Country. In my 33 years of life, I have been to 52 countries and almost all 50 states in the US. Please hear me when I say, GameFellas is a well-rounded used game/video store with great prices, a solid selection (better than solid depending on trade-ins), and good customer service. They have good science fiction and horror movie selections, as well as great animation films. If you are a Disney or Don Bluth collector, this a cool place to check out. They of course, also have a substantial retro game library stretching through all generations. From the 8-bit NES, 16 bit SNES, PC Engine, and Saturn, on through to the PS4. Their handheld library is also great. PSP, PS Vita, Gameboy, Gameboy Color, GBA, DS, 3DS, NeoGeo Pocket, and more. Truly, its hard to touch on everything that they have, but these are just a few libraries that I find them to have an above-average selection. Please remember that because their inventory is based on trade-ins, their selection is going to vary. Of course, these are just some of my personal favorites, so know that their selection is not limited to the genres I listed.Many of these negative reviews I have read here and on other local used game/video stores seem to be one-off bad experiences or simple misunderstandings. For instance, ALL used game stores, pawnshops, and record shops have a no-cash refund policy on trade-ins. I will not attempt to address more reviews, but, it seems that many of these customers did not get exactly what they wanted, and were therefore disgruntled or upset. This is NOT a substantial reason to give a store an exaggerated and poor review. If you are going to post a review, one should look at the store experience objectively and without bias.As a gamer and collector living in Austin, this store is ALWAYS my first stop when I make my game/record/movie store rounds. Awesome place, was originally going to purchase a copy of Silence of the Lambs on Amazon for $10 and really wanted to watch it that same day. Just happened to walk into this place and found a Collectors Edition for $2 among other classic gems!

I called ahead to ask about a game and when they said they had it they put the best version in stock on hold for me. When I got there they buffed any minor cosmetic defects out of the disk and they have a 90 day warranty type thing Im pretty sure.

I decided to sell my copy of Battlefield V. I got a very respectable 27 dollars in store credit. I used it to buy an XboxOne controller. My only gripe with the store is that they use a super old school receipt system with 8.5 by 11 receipts and calculators. But hey that is only tougher for the store not necessarily thw customers. Overall a good experience.

Came on a good day got 2 n64 controllers im excellent condition. Im satisfied kinda pricey on a super smash bros game 60 bucks yikkes prices are kinda high. Good store good variety of games make sure 2 call b4 u go 2 make sure they have what u are looking for in older games they are harder 2 find. Came to visit this place (from houston) because of the reviews. Was in search of movies or any games and found some stuff I really loved. Purchased a movie I was I search for awhile and finally get home and ready to play it and it only plays 12 seconds of the opening scene and thats it. Movie is a bootlegged copy that doesnt show anything. Spent $25 dollars down the drain. Extremely upset since I cant go back anytime soon.
