Just a quick review to acknowledge Daniel. This young man took the time to explain, advise, recommend and clarify. I am not a runner so I went in the store as a blank slate and left knowing a heck of a lot more and with the right shoes which, after a week of use, have proven to be the right shoes indeed. I was very impressed by the customer service that I received. First time in there and I will be back. Went for the USA Brooks tennis shoes and left with 2 pairs of shoes.They had awesome colors and PINK is it.Love both pairs and they have a customer for life.The lady that waited on me is awesome but I didnt get her name but I will remember her.Thank You so much .

Sales staff acted like it was an inconvenience to wait on me today when I was one of two customers in the store at 12:15 p.m. I was ready to purchase 2 pairs of walking shoes. I departed when the sales staff left me to my own device to try on the shoes which didnt fit. He was so disinterested. Ill take my business elsewhere.

Bad customer experience! The sales person was super disinterested in answering any of my questions. I had to buy the same pair that was tried on by others before me. Unacceptable when I am paying $$$ for a running shoes.

Great experience! I called ahead to find out about safety (I had my newborn with me and wanted to be as fast and safe as possible) and see if I could still try on shoes. The people there pulled options in my size based on my prior running shoes and met me on the sidewalk out front to let me try on options. They talked through each shoe so I would know the differences in feel, support, terrain. Great expertise and GREAT customer service - thank you!

Especially the girl who helped my wife find the pair of running shoes that fit perfectly by process of elimination. NOTE: if you want a bargain, go to the outlets but if you are serious about high quality shoes and you appreciate customer service, TRC is for you! She is extremely happy with her HOKAs. It was my first time in. I have never been to a real shoe store and was tired of spending money on work shoes that werent good enough. They checked my arches, the way I walk, heard my concerns, sized me and made recommendations. I was in and out within 20 minutes. Very pleasant and helpful man (that I didnt get his name). They were running a special for inserts with a shoe purchase as well as double points so I bought more than I needed and feel like I made out like a fat rat! Thanks so much!

They could use a numbering system. I put in an appointment time, but that did not seem to be relevant. I was waiting with no real clue as to when I would be helped. When I did get help, the service was great and the salesperson was knowledgeable and helpful. Their in-store price was exactly the same as Amazons.

Ive been wasting money on mediocre, reasonably priced running shoes for too long. After 30 minutes in the store with Raymond this afternoon, I learned more about my feet, my form, and the technology in todays shoes than I had in years on my own. He was informative and helpful, but never pushy! He helped me understand what I needed without me even knowing it when I walked in the door. I ended up buying multiple pairs because I was so excited to get out and put miles on the new choices. Cant wait to wear these out and return for more. I highly recommend Texas Running Co. over any big box store with less experienced employees.

I didnt know much about running at all. I came in and was given a thorough run-down about my gait, my arch and my feet size. I felt heard and understood and the staff were extremely helpful. I tried on several pairs, ran in all of them and was given recommendations. I cannot stress enough how friendly and helpful the staff are. I ended up knowing exactly which shoe I wanted (I came in thinking I would like hokas but I actually liked a different pair way more!). Unfortunately they did not have the exact color of the shoes I chose but I left knowing exactly which one I wanted and my correct size in it. I also didnt know how important running socks are, so I left with one pair to test them. I know Ill come back here in the future!

I’ve been in three times now since it’s near REI and I can never find someone to help, and when I do, they’re generally not very friendly or helpful. I’d try other spots before this one.

Horrible experience.When we walked in, there was no urgency to help us, and the staff continued working behind the desk. We spend about 5 to 10 min waiting for someone to help but no help.Other clients came in into the shop and they were helped immediately. We were still waiting for help but they never check in with us, that’s when we decided to leave.

I went here on 6/17/19. I really like this place. Staff was very attentive and helpful but not overbearing. The knowledge he had on the merchandise was excellent to help me make the best choice. He even let me run on the treadmill to make sure I liked how my water bottle belt felt while running.Highly recommend!!

First time here. They have a good selection of shoes and knowledgeable staff. We were there for quite some time and Scott and Tom were very patient and helpful. My friend and I both found what we were looking for. Ill happily return here for my next pair of shoes. We did go on a Saturday and it was quite busy so you may need to be prepared to wait a bit if you need assistance.

I only write reviews when I have an exceptional experience, either good or bad, and today was definitely a good experience. I was immediately greeted and helped by Lauren when I walked in. She was very thorough and thoughtful while helping me find the right shoe. My feet were measured, my gait was examined, and we talked through my physical needs as I am recovering from a knee surgery. She offered me several choices and explained the reasons behind each choice. She didn’t push any decisions. I feel we found the perfect shoe for my needs. After my purchase I went home and did some research on my purchase and everything lined up with what Lauren said. You can put your mind at ease when you come here knowing you’ll walk out with exactly what you need.

Pros: they practice social distancing.Con: the person that attended to us was very rude and short. Maybe she was the manager, but she was not helpful at all. Also very limited selection.

On my way to the running shoe store where I have gone twice a year for the past 5 or so, I decided to swing by Texas Running Co to see what they offered. The selection was much larger than where my original destination was leading me so I patiently waited my turn, they were busy and I now know why.Tom, their associate that helped me out, was extremely knowledgeable and patient with my needs. I cannot say enough about positive things about his professionalism and willingness to make sure I was fitted with the correct shoe for me. I ended up leaving with a road running and a trail running shoe and am incredibly pleased with both purchases.Kudos to Tom for his service!! I will be going back there for my next round in another 6 months or so.

I ended up buying brooks tennis shoes because of how physical my job is, and how I run all day at it and these shoes so far have treated me great. Just got my second pair of shoes here. Staff is super helpful and they care about your feet. Shoes I thought felt fine were found by my salesperson to be a bit small for long distances and upped my size by one half. The shoes still fit perfectly and now I wont get black toe after 9 miles.

Perhaps some of the worst customer service Ive witnessed, and that would include airlines, cable companies, and the DMV.Im a regular runner and a very simple customer. So, every pair of shoes Ive ever bought were within 5 minutes of walking in the door, and Ive never made a shoe return in my life - About the easiest and fastest sale you could make.However, yesterday afternoon (Sat, Feb 3rd, 2017), when I kindly asked the lady (short curly black hair, skinny, glasses, African-American) to explain the differences between the Nike brands, I was met with a hostile attitude that would be hard to justify in any circumstance, leave alone a simple transaction for shoes.I asked again, and was met with There are a LOT of differences. So, I tried to reword it as, Can you explain some of the differences to me, as I am looking for some arch support. Nothing. One would think I was asking for a kidney. I literally asked about 10 different ways - that is not hyperbole. I walked out with a very sour feeling. I tried shopping locally, but thanks to this experience, I ended up ordering the same shoes that I already owned, online. Reading the other reviews, it appears Im not alone in my experience. If Texas Running Company plans to stay in business, then management had better set expectations and coach their sales team. Otherwise, Id be surprised if these guys are still open in a year or two.

I loved this store! Within 30 minutes, I found the perfect pair of running/walking shoes.I told Sarah, who helped me, two different pairs of shoes I wanted to try on. She immediately asked why did I want to try those two shoes because they are two different kinds of shoes.I told her about how I had flat feet that are flat not due to my arch collapsing but from genetics. She understood, which is rare in a lot of cases with people who help me, they usually recommend stability shoes with arch support that give me blisters. Ive been on a two year hunt for shoes with MINIMAL arch support to prevent my over pronation that didnt give my arches blisters.Thank you so much for your help, Sarah! I greatly appreciated your help! I will be recommending this place to friends and family! My girlfriend and I will be back shortly to her a new pair of running shoes too!

We walked in a got help from Marisol. She was very abrupt and didn’t offer to listen to what my wife wanted and was recommend from her PT. she then proceeded to bring out shoes that were obviously one size too big after being measured. She seemed like we were an inconvenience to her and so we promptly left after our short five minutes with her. If you go in make sure someone else helps you. I’ve heard great things but was not impressed on our first visit.

I really wanted to like this place. Unfortunately, the lady who i checked out with was much less than enthused to be helping, quite unfriendly, and made me want to look else where for my running gear. So i will.

If I could give -5 stars I would. I generally do not write reviews, but I want to warn runners about purchasing from this store. Unless you know exactly what make, style, and size of shoe you want, do not go to them. The last 3 pairs I have purchased from them have been terrible. The sales associates are pushy and borderline rude. Most recently, they insisted on the newest and highest end shoe. Then insisted I needed a $50 insole in order to make the shoe fit right. I was running around 20- 25 miles/week. These shoes have caused me so much pain and discomfort. This is the second time this has happened with shoes from this retailer. I now only wear them to the grocery store or to run errands. My husband and several friends have asked me where to get running shoes, and I answer, anywhere but Texas Running Company! You are better off going to any other retailer!

Wow spent over $200 on shoes one pair were falling apart and so tried to return them I was one day past the 30 day return policy and this kicked out. The shoes are obviously faulty DONT BOTHER COMING HERE ...

Just had a fantastic experience getting a great pair of distance minimalist running shoes. The staff is very knowledgeable and will do a fitting and analysis of your gait and stride. Even though I came in during a rush on a Sunday I got plenty of attention and help finding the perfect pair. They also just started a rewards program. Cant recommend them highly enough!

I visited this store as a novice runner looking for a starter shoe and I had a great time! Someone sat down with me for as long as I needed trying shoes on and talking about running. I really learned a lot and left with a great starting point for myself. They have some really cool employees who have running and exercise groups, and they carry some unique products I was happy to find. Its much more than a big retail store. I even priced my shoes all over and even if they werent on sale, their prices were spot on.

They are always so helpful and attentive. Very knowledgeable. There is a reason I continue go back for my running shoes time and time again.

Been three or four times and have only been helped once. Just left after waiting 15 minutes to try on a shoe. It looks like they dont have enough staff to service the customers, and the staff didnt acknowledge me all the times I did not get served.

However, I did not find the employees helpful or friendly at all. Never greeted when I came in. In fact, never acknowledged by anyone working there. They responded saying they did and said theyd hold them for me even though I was out of town. I went the day after I got back in town and they had them waiting with my name on them. Very knowledgeable and friendly staff. I was fairly new to ATX when I went to this store. I actually drove 30 minutes out to go here because it was so highly recommended by coworkers and they definitely didnt disappoint. They had me run on the treadmill to observe how my arch impacts my run. They found the perfect shoes for me along with the inserts to correct my feet and support my arch. The guy also suggested a massage ball for my planters fasciitis which has helped me tremendously. I never felt like products were pushed on me and there were plenty of style and color options for shoes. I wouldnt buy shoes from anywhere else!

Came in to try on some new running shoes. Told David I was only window-shopping and not ready to buy for another month or so. Knowing this, he still took the time to walk me through a few pairs of Sauconys I was interested and explained the benefits of each. Tried on each pair and Ill be back to buy the Freedom ISOs soon. Rare to have low pressure conversations in a specialty shop like this. These guys are very knowledgeable and obviously have a passion for running and shoes.

Horrible treatment of customers. We bought an expensive pair of shoes for my daughter before she went abroad for the semester. She wore them before she left and had some issues. We went back into the store, but they advised us to give them another try. We explained she was leaving the country for four months what if they dont work out? No problem she said. She wore them once while running abroad and they caused horrible pain so we brought them in immediately when she came home, had proof of purchase and just wanted store credit to get something else. I believe the exact words (with head shaking no) were, Absolutely not. Listen Texas Running Store: When you can buy shoes from Nordstrom and Zappos and practically everybody else, and return with no problem, youre going to have to step up your policies. Will we EVER buy anything from Texas Running Store again? Absolutely not.

After trying to run in Target athletic shoes for an extended period of time, I got tendinitis and my doctor suggested I stop by this place to get fitted for some better running shoes. She emphasized that I needed to invest in a good pair of running shoes for my feet or I risked doing permanent damage if I continued to run. I stopped by this place casually on a Thursday (side note: I was embarassingly unprepared, wear socks and something youre comfortable running in, but they definitely helped me get through it) and a gentleman helped me figure out what I needed by having me run on a treadmill in their test pair of shoes (they were able to provide socks though I was prepared to buy some no problem). He took a video of my feet while I ran on their treadmill for maybe 30 seconds at my typical jogging speed. He showed me the video frame by frame to indicate what I needed from a running shoe based on my personal running form, showing me the before and after frames when I put full weight on my foot. He helped me try a few different brands, I was able to test them on the treadmill, and found one that was an amazing fit. I ended up going with the Mizuno Wave Inspires personally, but after hearing so many people rave about Brooks and trying them myself and finding them uncomfortable to run in, I have to say that this place is well worth the shopping experience as opposed to purchasing based on the opinions of friends/relatives or Amazon reviews. Highly recommend! Extremely helpful and knowledgeable staff!

RUN AWAY FROM THIS BUSINESS! They encouraged me to order shoes then they doubled my order charging me $300. They told me that since it was an on line oredr they could no longer help me and to call a third party where the order was placed. The 3rd party is open 12pm-7 and does not answer their calls- on hold twice now, once for 10 minutes then last time for over 15 when I hung up. When I called the store they rold me there was no manager or anyone else to help me. To wait for my shoes to come in and then retun them. Could not be more frustrated. Worst customer service experience ever!

I never like shopping for running gear. It can be a high pressure situation and I never like thinking that the salesperson might feel as if Im wasting their time.However, Ive been coming to Texas Running Company off-and-on for the last few years, and Ive never experienced any of those negative aspects. While a bit smaller than other stores here in Austin, its clear that the employees who work there are avid runners, and that they truly do want to help you get everything you need to make your runs safe, fast, and rewarding.A year ago, I needed some long sleeve shirts for an upcoming marathon; the weather was forecast to be miserably cold and windy. When I explained this to the employee (Im so sorry I dont remember your name!), she graciously helped me find a few different options. She brought me a few different shirts and explained why one might be better for particular conditions over the other, and got me different sizes as needed. I ended up purchasing three shirts due to her wonderful service. She even told me about the free fun runs that the store organizes (though Ive yet to participate) and invited me to join. She also told me about the customer loyalty program (a free service), which I did sign up for.Today, I went in for a new pair of shoes (for the same marathon - BCS, which is excellent if you need a beginner marathon!). In the last few years, Id resorted to buying online; this was primarily for the (slightly) better pricing, and because I assumed (incorrectly) that Well, a new version of the shoe I get means I just need to buy its descendent in the same size. However, after running my beloved Ravennas into the ground, replacing them with the same size lead to a number of issues. The biggest was excruciating toe pain, which - after some research - I determined was due to my toes sliding forward and being slammed against the front of the shoe. This was interrupting my long runs. I knew it was a mechanical issue that could be resolved, but was annoyed that buying the newer model of my existing shoes had effectively caused the problem. I switched to Nike, and while this did work for a while, I again found myself having pain after a few months. So, switched to some Mizunos, but found that they were even worse.As I explained all of this to Raymond, he directed me to several pairs of shoes to try, and was able to highlight the specs of each, the differences between each option, and why I might consider one pair over another. I tried on at least six pairs of shoes - often multiple sizes of the same version - and he would calmly explain why each was a suitable stability shoe. We were able to narrow it down to two pairs, and ultimately I found a pair that felt incredible. Each time I tried a new pair, Raymond watched me jog a bit and analyzed my pronation, and made sure the toe box would be large enough to prevent toe pain from metatarsalgia (i.e., slamming into the front of the shoe). He never made me feel rushedor that I was annoying him with my questions and indecisiveness, etc. He listened carefully and helped me reach an excellent conclusion. On top of this, he explained about shoe size differences and why Id had problems with replacing my Ravennas online versus trying in-store consultations. It was overwhelmingly clear that he understood my concerns, and I never once felt like I was bothering him. He said that the store went to great lengths to hire runners, as this helps build empathy between their staff and their customers. In the end, I left with a pair of running shoes that I cannot wait to put through their paces, and felt like Id been listened to and helped in a way that was customized to my need.Ive been incredibly pleased with both experiences Ive had at this store, and I will continue to be a customer in the future. It is wonderfully maintained, in a good location, and staffed by helpful personnel who truly want to you to excel with your running.
