One of my favorite places in Austin! We give away books for Halloween, and at 50¢ each for kid and YA books including hardcovers, this is the perfect place to get them! Great variety and affordable for tea hers building classroom libraries and for any book nerd.

Great selection of former library books, but also rare, used books, signed first edition copies, and (20th Century) antiquarian books. All at reasonable prices and, occasionally, they do a $2 all-you-can-fit-in-a-bag paperback sales.

I absolutely love coming to this store. The books are wonderfully priced and there are some true gems. There are also audiobooks, music sheets, maps, and sometimes even crafts and puzzles to buy. Its a wonderful place to browse and a great place to find a new read for everyone in the family. There is even a kid corner and its precious.

Recycled Reads is so authentically unique. So much so that it is hard to describe. So very much more than a ‘Used Bookstore.’ Yes, there are ‘Recycled Reads,’ and yes, it all benefits the Austin Public Library, but likely you’ll enjoy a poetry reading or a performance by the Austin Ukulele Society while you’re there, especially on Sunday afternoon.I enjoy going to my Sunday afternoon sewing Meet-Up there... and often leave plenty of time to browse books.I’ve brought neighborhood children and my granddaughter here to pick out books to enjoy. And for myself, I always check out the DIY and crafting section!

Great, inexpensive used book selection! I particularly love getting travel guide books here! I visited on Saturday because they were hosting an Austin Fix It event where you could bring things that you needed to fix and get help from volunteers in your community to learn how to fix them yourself. I fixed a broken necklace chain and got some ideas for other things that might be worth bringing to fix in the future. This was a great location for this event!

Lovely thing they are doing here. The selection is always changing. I have found so many wonderful books and the best part they are 50 cents to a dollar a piece! Seriously check them out before you pay 27.99 at Barnes and Nobles. Ive been eyeing a copy of Team of Rivals for a while at the big book store. I found it here for one dollar! You will be helping the environment and contributing to a good cause! Less landfill!

Recycled Reads is well maintained and the staff seems friendly. The selection is hit or miss, but thats to be expected with a second hand bookstore and adds to the fun when you find something amazing. Not a huge selection of albums, but Ive had pretty good luck finding unique ones. Great place and its nice to be helping the library.

Yes, this place is run by the library, but its a book store. So its not the hush-hush place that a library is. You can talk, bring your cup of coffee & munchies in with you, chat with friends while knitting, coloring, or whatever. They have large tables with good overhead lighting if you need a place to lay out a project youre working on. Check their website site for the free events that happen regularly in the open space: crafting, poetry reading, live music, and more. They have great deals on jigsaw puzzles, music, movies, and, of course, books. You never know what serendipitous selections youll find on the shelves, so go back frequently and browse. Most paperbacks are $1, hardbacks $2. What a deal!

Had a very pleasant visit here today. There was nice music from the ukulele orchestra, and a table where a dozen or so people were doing crochet and knitting projects.Books are $2 for hard cover, $0.50 for paperback, and a selection of coffee table books, and more. One of my favorite places.

Great concept for a book store. Love that my money goes towards helping the libraries. Prices are cheap! They get donations frequently, so stop by regularly to see different books. They have a vintage/collectible section which is interesting to peruse through. Lots of kids books too, if you need to build up your kiddos library.

I love Recycled Reads. It helps keep books out of landfills, helps people find affordable (under $2) books, movies, and music, benefits the library, takes in your donations with no fuss, and has special events like live music and crafting. Its really an underrated treasure in Austin.

I come here about once a month and always leave with a basket full of amazing finds! Google ways to remove library sleeves and labels if you dont want your home bookcase to look like you robbed your local library. WD-40 works wonders to remove adhesive residue. Books look good as new. I routinely pick up about 15 books and spend $20! Childrens books are 2 for $1. Paperbacks are $1, hard covers are $2. Select mass market paperbacks are $0.50 cents each. Just a great place...definitely worth it!!

Really awesome place for finding unique books. $1 for papernacks and $2 for hardbacks. They weigh all the books so they know how much theyve collected. They also hold other fun events and workshops. Recycled Reads is a wonderful resource provided by the City of Austin. You will find tremendous deals on gently-used childrens books. Because its part of the City of Austin library system, the same great programming found at Library Branches usually finds its way to Recycled Reads. This past summer my family enjoyed a hilarious puppet show here. The staff are as friendly as the branch librarians. Which is very friendly.

Friendly staff of volunteers. This is a part of the Austin Library system, sort of a last ditch effort to save books. They weigh your purchase so they can keep track of how much waste stays out of the landfills. Good variety of books to look through in air conditioned comfort. Good luck coming out of the place without a purchase.

The selection is about as bad as it gets and the prices are terrible. While its a nice idea to support the library system this place is poorly executed attempt. Savers and goodwill have much better book selection and prices full stop. You should go just to see how bad the selection is.

This is the best value for books in town. Its the libraries overflow store where books that are cycled out of libraries go first. You can also bring your own books to donate or volunteer here as well. The staff is always very friendly and nice. Hardcovers are $2, softcovers are $1.They also have sections of collectibles that range from $5-20.

One of the best used book shops around if youre looking for a cheap score and are willing to search for it. Since Recycled Reads is tied to the public library system, many of the books for sale here have library labels. I love this place! All paperbacks are $1, all hardbacks are $2, kids books I think are 50 cents. You have to go with a spirit of serendipity; if youre looking for a specific book, youll do better to stick to Halfprice Books or Bookpeople or Amazon BUT if you are a bibliophile who enjoys the hunt, this place is AMAZING. It is especially good for moderate-to-highly popular fiction released in the last 2-10 years, classics, and biographies.

Ive never been to a bookstore that chides you for buying too many books. Odd.They used to have scores of re-sellers, elbowing people out of the way with their electronic gizmos, scanning books to resell online. My God that was tedious. Now, apparently, theyve swung in the other direction and give you the cold shoulder if youre politely taking your daughter out for her birthday and buying 50 dollars worth of books for the family.
