Lots of neat stuff to find imported from Japan... From Manga, Anime figures, to sweet writing and art tools, they have a variety of cool things you can find. A bit on the pricy side but if you are not a deal shopper, then just give them your support and patronage. Ive found a lot of my favorite writing tools here.
Fantastic selection and atmosphere. And it warms my queer, non-binary heart to see so many lgbtq books spread throughout the shop, including the entry table. I always spend more than I should, because I want Kinokuniya to THRIVE (and be around forever.) 🌈 🏳️⚧️
They have a ton of imported manga in both English and Japanese and they have a ton of cute anime merch like keychains, acrylic stands and plushies. They have a ton of blind boxes including one pre-opened one you can purchase if you want to take the mystery out of buying. If you are into stationary, they have washi tape, notebooks, and high quality pens and pencils. They also have pop ups every once in a while with cool anime merch and they also have store exclusive merch from well known artists. Its definitely my favorite store to buy new manga and anime merch.
Definitely an anime experience!! Has older and newer merchandise including manga, anime, crafts and mich more!
It is a cute little bookstore. It is always packed when I go. You dont really get to time to stop and look because of the amount of people. Besides this, the products are cute. I really enjoy the fashion magazines and pens.
Very nice and large bookstore! It was a change from our usual location, I enjoyed how separated everything was, allowing room for people to be spread out. They also had a large section of items, I really enjoyed our shopping trip here!
Diverse selection of Japanese products. This store has universal appeal and is not just for otakus or cat lovers (because half the items in the store are of cats 😍) and I could spend all day in the stationary section alone.A lot of people will walk over and visit the store while they await their reservation at a nearby revolving sushi bar so anticipate quite a crowd on the weekends.Staff are all wearing masks and there is someone at the door to count the number of patrons and to take temperatures which is very responsible.
We absolutely adore this place. The hubby and the kiddi never walk out empty handed.
Great selection. Kinokuniya was always one of my favorite stores to visit in NYC and so having one in Austin is amazing!Super friendly staff. I called to find out if they had a magazine in stock and they offered to hold it for me.
Awesome store with charms, gifts, books, and other things by Japanese culture! Love their selection of bags and earrings for those with metal allergies! Staff is always so friendly and fast!
Awesome pen, paper, artist and bookstore. Such cute and diverse items! Just WoW😃This is a Pen lovers dream!! The staff are super nice and there’s a membership card if you’re wanting a discount and plan on being a frequent customer. COVID-19 safety & temp precautions in place. Lots of gift ideas, jewelry, fine pens, calendars, anime, toy models, manga, journals galore & all types of Japanese character products.
AMAZING bookstore in an amazing Asian strip mall! This large & well merchandized store has EVERYTHING from manga & anime art books to funky socks & art supplies...pretty much the VERY best Asian bookstore Ive ever been to. Many of the prices are higher because merch is unusual and shipped from Japan, etc. Check it out!
The store was very chic and nice! Had such great pieces in a variety of options. However, the staff was very unfriendly and lacked good customer service skills. I thought I was alone in this, but when I asked my sister and niece who were with me at the time, they seemed to agree. The two cashiers were so unfriendly and rude it almost ruined the entire experience and not really sure if we want to return.
I always love coming here for my very needed dose of stationary, art supplies, anime, and odd finds. They have the best of everything I love in a bookstore and an incredible staff of people that are always so on it. The store is impeccable with their cleanliness and organization. I don’t feel overwhelmed coming into the store and I don’t feel rushed into leaving. It’s a great place and you should detail about their membership because they don’t verbally advertise it but it is definitely worth getting if you plan on coming back.
A pretty amazing store! Lots of cute things like plushies, toys, etc. from animes and kawaii pop culture goods. Theres a huge variety of books and pens and stationery too and I wish I had the time to look at them all. Unfortunately I cant read Japanese, but I would have loved to own a couple copies of manga in both languages. Some things were kind of pricey for what they are like some of the pencil bags, but overall I had a fun time!
Wide variety of Japanese books, merchandise and manga. Prices here are often less than online, and items are in stock that cant be found elsewhere.Store is well organized, titles are easy to find, sorted by type and title. Many times the whole series of a manga will be stocked. Many titles are offered in both Japanese and English. The store is located in a shopping center full of Korean, Japanese and Chinese stores. Its a great place to do some shopping.
Nicer and larger than the Dallas destination. There was more space, and it felt like they had more of an idea when going in. Dallas has the low ceiling, and feels cramped.Theres always something interesting on the shelves at these stores if I look regardless of how experienced in the genre I am. Manga for days, and a lot of art books that I probably would have proxy shipped.I make my visits an occasion to grab something.
Fun place to stop in and shop around in. So many options and very friendly customer service. Will return.
Lots of great stuff. Anime and books and pens galore. DVDs. Collectibles. Just check it out its great fun to browse and buy.
This place is something else. Art supplies galore, Manga and anime reads for all ages, toys + trinkets and a lot more.
A lot of good stuff there bit the prices are really high for stuff I could find at other places for less
Amazing manga collection here. They most likely have what you are looking for.
So many Japanese manga books! A must visit for manga and anime fans!
This bookstore is amazing and so much more than a bookstore! I walked out with a new and affordable fountain pen and accessories, as well as Totoro coasters, and a story book about folktales from around the world. Loved every minute of it.
They have so many cool books and stuff
We love visiting this store whenever we stop at Kira or the Asian market. Cute selection of Asian gifts. They carry some of my favorite perfumes from Tokyo Milk and a ton of journals/pens. Great spot for unique gifts.
I love this place! My partner and I went for the first time today and its awesome. They are on top of checking people for Covid as well, and thats great too. Cant wait to go back ❤
This store is the best! It might be pricey but its worth it! 10/10 would recommend if your kid wants to go to use birthday money or etc! Make sure you have around $100-$200. This store has anime figures, cute plushies, comics and more! They have art supplies thats at least 1-5 dollars!
Very interesting stores. If you like cute design stuffs, you do want to check this place. Highly recommend for people who loves adorable design.
Kinokuniya is my favorite place to shop for pens, stationary and other desk items. They are also a fantastic place to shop for gifts.
Always love me a kinokuniya run. Do not come here if you want to save money obviously priced higher.
Lots of cute plushies and little nick-nacks! the workers are kind. huge selection of manga and such. merchandise and such are super cool and good quality!! 10/10 would go back!!!!
This past weekend we drove over from San Antonio because our two year old is a huge fan of Totoro, Ponyo, Kiki and Jiji. We were disappointed to find zero Studio Ghibli stuffed toys. Actually the whole studio ghibli area was empty. The store was really nice, but they didnt have anything like the Google photos show. 😔
Lots of really neat stuff, got a booklet set to help me with my learning the Japanese language. The girl who helped me was really nice as was the girl who checked my items out.
Cute store - they had exactly what I went in for - friendly staff
GREAT Customer Service. They went above and beyond when I needed help. I believe he was the owner, but an older man who works there deserves all the praise. I appreciate everything he did for me. They also do temp checks and provide hand sanitizer which not many shops are doing so I appreciate it.
Great store for anime lovers. Lots of Manga to choose from in both native language and English. Tons of knick knacks, paints, pens and books to check out as well. Loved this shop!
The food is SO good!Friendly and helpful staff as well.Definitely a fun experience!
What an experience. They have a little bit of everything and whole lot of fun stuff! From stationary, to Ghibli, educational products, kawaii things... I love this place!
If you didnt know, it is a super famous Japanese Bookstore chain. Very top rated among manga and anime fans and Im glad that they have finally opened a store in Austin. They had one back in Seattle, their store is gorgeous. They sell all types of Japanese art and decor plus they have a ton of Austin and Texas themed stuff as well. This is one of my top must visit book stores in Austin. First one is Amazon bookstore in the Domain. This store is clean and new bit a few aisles need a little more attention- would you blame all the cute stuff they sell. I even saw a broken hourglass. Oops. It is conviniently located in the newly open complex called Crescent at North Lamar. It has other Asian stores such as 85 degrees bakery and the 99 Ranch market - all new.
Always fun to go here for anime related things
This is such a unique store with so many different things to see. I love the dish towels and the socks.
This place is amazing. My daughter loves the wide variety of items this store has...
Great Japanese book store! Lots of knick knacks, office supplies, cute jewelry, and enamel pins!
Cute, funky place to shop. We love all the mangas they have there. We never leave empty handed when we visit.
Not a bad place at all if youre visiting Austin to try and go and explore for anime stuff and cute stationary things. No AC tho? Felt like I was gna faint in there. Maybe it was just the smell of all the weebs
Loved it! My 4 year old granddaughter loves sushi. Her favorite place now.
Always enjoy going here for Manga novels and stationary.
Great selection of anime for my son but also a great selection of other items that I enjoyed! Very well organized store.
Great variety of ALL things Asian related. Very unique selection. Friendly and helpful staff.
It was a awesome place! & It has awesome notebooks very cute, I had a great time there. Overall 10/10. Definitely recommended for righting utensils & notebooks.
This is a really great store that has something for everyone. Books, anime, manga, gifts, stationery, art supplies, room decor, really great accessories. You cant go wrong in this place theres so much to see and shop for.
Lots of cute japan stuff!
Very well kept store with a lot of inventory! The staff were very friendly. I just love this place🥰🤩
Nice bookstore and it has even toys and other stuffs.
Such a lovely space. And such a big variety of gifts and books.
These guys do it right! Full, smart C19 screening and regulations, I feel safe shopping here. Wish my pocketbook was more full!
Great place for all your stationary needs, especially if you are picky about what you use! They have so many choices!
Pretty good imports from japan... very expensive though. Very good selection of Manga and stationary
I bought a Maison Ikkoku volume from here and the woman at the cash register also loves the series! She was extremely nice. Next time I’m in town I’ll definitely stop by.
I am very impressive of that book store! It was a little familiar of barn and noble but this place, I visited for my first time in Austin. I definitely love it and staffs are very friendly and above my expectation of customer service! Highly recommended!!!
Stationary, pens, books, magazines, toys, kitschy novelty items: Kinokuniya has it all. There is so much stuff in this store that appeals to me that I get overwhelmed just walking through the place. Its a little on the pricier side since most of their stuff is imported but they sell quality stuff. If youre looking for some cool Japanese goods chances are this place has them.
Cool Spot! HUGE selection of pens and lots of interesting stuff!
Animae, Manga bookstore and assorted stuff. Great protocols in place, very safe and helpful staff.
FANTASTIC book store. Staff is incredibly kind, HUGE selection of goods ranging from manga, art books, art supplies, Japanese culture books, and so much more. Cant recommend this store enough!
A huge Kinokuniya compared to the one in Katy, TX. A large selections with really cool mangas, blind boxes, and cute items. The anime blind box section seems a little overcrowded and overwhelming but that’s simply because they have a large selection. I definitely liked their magazine/Japanese book section. Like most Kinokuniyas, I highest recommend.
Pretty awesome book store. My kids loved it.
Kinokuniya is terrible. Everything is super expensive for no reason, they have washi tape for 7 dollars when you can buy it at Daiso across the street for a dollar. I would understand the crazy prices if you couldn’t find the items they sell there anywhere else, but almost everything there you can find on amazon. Seriously save your money, their stuff isn’t worth the 80% up charge.
Pretty awesome store, had great gunpla selection and a large manga section
Great Japanese-based book store with good selection of American books and Asian books, magazines and other items. Fun toys and gift items!! Got a few books for me, my son and husband, pictured below. Very clean and bright in the store.
So much fun, sushi was good. A very very fun experience all around.
Such a cute store with a huge and diverse selection of products. Not just books, loads of puzzles, toys, and curios. Definitely worth a visit.
Nice selection of books. The staff was friendly and helpful.
Hidden gem in the Austin area, the place is always full of new items and Japanese books.A very good shopping stop for anime lovers, make sure you have a full wallet..
It was nice and all. Had a lot of godzilla merchandise, it was just too pricey.
The place to go for all things anime
I love the large amount of manga and manga related items here. This will be my go to place to buy pens too.
Best book store ive ever seen! Ive travelled out of town to come here twice! And will come again :D
I go for the Japanese stationery and they never disappoint.
