This place is truly the best. I took the leaded art strips class this past weekend and it was amazing. Deke, the instructor, really made the class exceptional. Everyone had different levels of experience and he did a really nice job of making this craft really accessible and fun. Blue Moon does a great job of fostering an atmosphere where people feel comfortable asking questions and learning. I thought the price for the class was 100% fair and a great value, to be honest. I really loved the variety of glass we could all choose from--everyone created something beautiful and unique. I love my finished piece and will definitely take another class. Thank you Deke and Lisa for the great class!

The lead stained glass class is a life changer! After taking this 6 week class, I have the confidence in myself to keep learning and building from what Lisa taught me. Each week the classes are broken down in to digestible pieces and guided instruction. It was a perfect mix of technical and creative. Lisa’s approach is easygoing and professional. She is very knowledgeable about this art form and passionate about connecting others to it. I really appreciated her ability to adapt to each student’s needs. I spent a whole class just picking out glass when I should have been cutting and she was okay with that! The final class to reveal and take home is incredibly rewarding. I signed up for a glass blowing class in between this one and I plan on signing up for copper foil as well. If you ever wanted to learn the art of stained glass, this is the place to do it!

This store is a gem tucked into residential Hyde Park. Every time I go, the staff are so friendly, warm, and helpful. Theyve helped me get into glass mosaicking and stained glass without having to order any of the supplies online. If youre looking for birthday or Christmas gifts, this store also has a selection of art pieces you can buy. Highly recommend!

Blue Moon has been in our neighborhood for several years and Im just now writing a review. There is a history of excellent customer service and technical expertise. I am not creative so I havent taken a class. We break stuff. If it is glass, then I go to Blue Moon Glassworks. The latest are these ceiling fan ornaments which have been in our family for years They have special meaning to us in addition to being beautiful on the outside porch. If they break, Jim and the team make a repair, and there they are again. Adding beauty to our porch. They have repaired a glass mosaic piece of art, stemware, a glass leaf blade, a glass pendant... etc. Opps, I just heard a glass break. Got to run....

Amazing teachers! Jim made the ornament blowing class so easy and accessible. My sisters and I had so much fun watching each other’s creations, taking pictures and video and learning something totally new. The space itself was completely for us, all set up with individual stations and materials. Jim explained the process and techniques first, then showed us, then let each of us try one by one. Once we got the hang of it, we were free to create at our pace. Jim was always there to coach and guide while encouraging our confidence. We definitely made mistakes but Jim knows that is part of learning and gave us pointers to prevent that mistake for the next one. We walked away feeling inspired, excited and proud of what we accomplished. I highly recommend this class! It’s an experience you will not forget.

I came in to this shop yesterday to get some cutting tools for cutting down borosilicate dichroic sheets. The tools that I was already using worked but my cuts were not as clean as I would like them to be. They showed me a couple of different cutting stations and gave me their honest opinions about the products and they even took the time to show me the proper way to make cuts using the product. I have spent good morning cutting down by dichroic Sheets and they are looking much better. This is a family-owned business that definitely cares about their customer. customers

This is a wonderful glass shop, full of sheets of colored glass for making stained glass or mosaic projects. They also have glass rods for creating your own glass beads. Never used a torch for lampwork; only dreamed of creating a stained glass panel? Youre in luck! Their knowledgeable staff can advise you, and they run classes throughout the month. There are books with project ideas & patterns, brochures listing the upcoming classes, tools & trinkets for completing projects, & lots of examples on display to start youre imagination flowing. The owners also do custom doors & windows, so they are qualified to give you advice when you have questions, as can all the employees. The hours are M-F 9-5; but they close early on Saturdays at 3 pm. Sundays they are closed. They have a small parking lot right in front of the store, as well as street parking available. There are no steps to get into the store, but you have to step up the curb from the parking lot. A small bathroom is located in the back of the store (youll need to ask), but is not handicapped accessible.

My wife and I took their Christmas Ornament blowing class and were blown away by the experience. Jim will take you from zero to hero in just a few minutes. With a little practice and watching others you will gain the confidence needed to load up some Frit and blow some ornaments! Book early and be ready for a once in a lifetime experience.

This shop is one of those little hidden gems that keep Austin weird. And who knew there were so many creative and beautiful things you can do with glass!?! My wife and I were blown away when we stumbled in one day after lunch. We ended up hanging out in the store for more than an hour and made a new friend Lisa who was happy to answer all 500+ questions we had about general glassworks. Now after a taking a few of their various classes, we are loving our new creative hobby together! 💞Blue Moon Glassworks gets 5 stars and an A+

Very helpful staff. Had broken a stained glass window that was a gift from a friend who had warned me not to let my rambunctious dogs break it. What I thought was a safe location turned out not to be, and I was a bit panicked. I brought the window in on a Saturday and they were able to do what I thought was going to be an extensive repair in under an hour for a very reasonable rate! hopefully I can sign up for some classes in the future too.

Awesome! I live kind be of far away, and had been wanting to check this place out for a while before finally going. Totally worth the trip. I spent more time trying to get the sub-par copper foil tape, from Michaels, to stick to my stained glass pieces than it took for me to make the drive. They have every glass working tool imaginable, a vast selection of glass sheets, rods, and additives, and the employees are not only helpful but talented. I am new to lampwork, and Terry took excellent care of me. I will definitely be back.

Priced a little high, found out after that I could have gotten the same product for half the price elsewhere. The lady there was very helpful, instructive and offered other solutions for my project that would have been cheaper but I was following my instructors plan for my project. All in all a good shop if a bit pricey for supplies some would say the free instruction is worth the extra cost, me Im not so sure.
