Ever time I shop this store I’m pleasantly surprised! Most of the merchandise looks brand new. Lots of brand name dresses, shorts and tops. Shoes, toys, books and baby equipment. Buy here. Wear till they grow out of the item and sale it back to the store. It’s like free stuff ! I’m hooked!!!

Great place for selling items, they have a policy no bags must bring in container. Employees were nice!

The franchise website says they follow CDC guideline but there is no masking or social distancing of employees. They have a poster on their front door blaming China for the pandemic. I am NOT a China communist part supporter in the slightest but the poster blaming the Chinese Communist Party for the pandemic is just blatantly fake news. ‘Spanish flu’ or H1N1 began in Kansas and yet we blamed it on Spain. Will the scapegoating of other countries/peoples ever stop? This kind of stuff encourages violence towards us Asian Americans. Do not support this location. It’s worth it to drive to the other franchise locations and not waste money here.

Worst experience ever! First off the store smelled like a old garage that had trash all in it.Customer service was horrible lady was so rude and right before me and my friend checked out the employees were just sitting there talking about customers rudely as if it was nothing! Also it’s a children’s story and mothers go there with there children and mommy’s to be go there and THEY HAD NO MASK ON sorry but no not acceptable definitely think they should wear them. Will never be going back there.

Shocked to see an inflammatory anti-Chinese poster on their front door. With anti-Asian sentiment and violence on the rise, this is just unacceptable. Staff were not wearing masks. I turned around and left. Would much rather take my business to Kid-to-Kid across the street!

A couple things:1. Their items are overpriced for what youre getting. You can buy brand new clothes at the same price at TJ MAXX, Carters, Old Navy, etc.2. My wife and I went in to drop off a couple storage boxes full of infant-toddler size girls clothes and several pairs of shoes. When we went back to collect the money for the items being taken, we learned that they only took about 3 items of clothing and 1 pair of infant shoes. I will insert pictures of some of the items they didnt take. Please note, this is just the VERY few items of the MANY items they didnt accept. I picked these particular items just to give you an idea of how ridiculous their inspection requirements (whatever they are) are. You will see a pair of overalls (skirt) that has been worn once from Old Navy, a Kate Spade jacket (picture will not upload) with a matching onsie, a stripped dress that reads Ciao. And a few pairs (of many) shoes (yes, I know one shoe is missing in the picture. I didnt feel like digging in the box to find it...its simply in the picture to show you the condition of the shoe (like new)). Also, there are no stains, rips, or fading in these garments.

All the items I brought in to sell were in almost brand new condition so I expected to walk out with almost nothing. A majority of the clothes I took had tags still. They wanted to buy all the brand new clothes (about 10 things), 2 toys, a baby gate for $18. 🙄 I was so irritated. I took all the clothes back and they offered me $8. Still a rip! Got home and realized they didn’t give back one of the toys that was not in the bucket of things they wanted to buy. I called the manager to resolve the issue but he isn’t willing to hold it for me until I can get back up to their run down store. Forget it, not worth my time! Never going again!

Great selection of infant clothes at great prices

I take it they only accept brand new clothes that still have the tag attached and that’s have never been worn. I brought in brand name toddler clothing (no stains, great condition) and they didn’t accept them. I was in the end of my 3rd trimester and don’t feel like bothering with their reasoning behind why they didnt take them. Don’t waste your time selling clothes.

My wife just visited the Once Upon a Child store in Austin, TX. She had purchased a pair of boots for our daughter and it turned out that the heel of one of the boots was nearly falling off the shoe, so she decided to take it back to find something else. Weve gone to this store dozens of times over the years and have had good luck.Not this time. She was basically accused of trying to return something we didnt buy at that store. The person she talked with was rude and disrespectful and refused to work with her. We definitely bought the boots there so I dont know what the issue was.However, our business will permanently be going elsewhere. We are honest and didnt defraud this business despite what the employee says. Id encourage anyone who is nearby to go right across the street to Kid to Kid. Youll be treated with more respect.Totally unacceptable and Im very disappointed in this business.Edit: it turns out my wife was speaking with the store owner, Brandon. Unbelievably bad customer service.

My mother and I drove almost 30 miles,we washed all of my clothes and neatly folded them in bags. By the time we got to the store right as I walked in I didnt feel welcome. We waited almost 2 hours for them to inspect the clothes,as we waited we decided to browse the store. From what we saw lots clothes were overpriced, and out of style. As a 13 year old i wouldve expected that they would take more of my clothes because they had a very small portion of my size. Its clear this store was a poor experience overall: not friendly, didnt fold my clothes back in the bags, and did not feel welcome. From the outside it looked shut down. Not welcoming at all. Better to sell, barter or trade your clothes yourself.

The new owners/management are wonderful and so friendly. I was welcomed as soon as I stepped through the door. The store is very clean and nicely organized. They have band-new and gently-used items for sale such as pack-n-plays, bassinets, clothing, shoes, bows, bowties, ties, fedora & cowboy hats, jewelry, pop-sockets, toys, books, walkers, jumpers, nap mats, accessories, and much more. They are also buying all of the above so you can also make money here! What is neat about that is they put new items on the floor everyday.

This is my go to store when I want to consign my childrens clothes. They are fair and always take a considerable amount of clothes, shoes, toys, and books that I bring in. Ive found so many great things for my 9 year old daughter there and for a great price! Ive noticed that Im not so lucky when it comes to my 5 year old son (selection seems a little smaller than girls). However, Ive been able to get him swim wear, shoes, toys, and books. Overall, Once Upon A Child North Austin is a great place to buy and consign!

This used to be a great shop but the new ownership is not maintaining the same level of friendly service as the old ones did. They don’t offer as much for your goods, don’t donate the things they don’t accept, and aren’t kind about the transaction. Treated me like I was an annoyance when I brought things in and were even more rude when I picked up. Will not be doing business here again.

Always had a great experience shopping here for baby clothes and different things. Never felt out of place or not welcomed. Really kinda confused on the reviews because I never felt like I was overpaying for something. And I mean if you feel that way... Just don’t buy it?? Anyways... Great experience overall and will be shopping there again.

Don’t waste your time with this place. Go across the street to Kid to Kid.We didn’t have a bag, just a wagon as a container for the items we were selling. Due to that, the staff refused to look at our merchandise. When we said we would wait and simply take the things they rejected off their hands, they told us it would be a really long time and we shouldn’ t bother. How rude. Our kids loved going to OUAC in Wyoming; it’s a real treat for them, but the rude staff at this location just ensured that I will not be bringing my dollars or children back to this dump.

This Once upon a child opened back up early March 2018, and it’s so insanely great! The new owners are so friendly and kind! The place is so clean, organized, and full of great deals! I thought I loved this store before, but man oh man do I love it so much more now!

I purchased 3 items; a plush light weight jacket for fall, a one pieceplush pant w/ruffled top outfit and a one piece soft onesie outfit with an attached ballarina skirt and 3/4 sleeves. I went to sell some barely worn clothes. I brought a full large bankers box. They offered $15.90 only taking about 3 outfits and 2 pairs of shoes. I asked why they wouldn’t take a particular outfit and she told me there a few stains on it. I looked at said outfit and found no stains of any kind. So basically they did a poor job and lied when questioned about it. I will never walk in that store again!

The store was clean and neatly organized so that was nice. But I found a baby gate priced at $30 but the original sticker from TJ Maxx was still on it and that price said $19.99. They TJ Maxx price was drawn on in an attempt to hide the price but it was still visible. When I asked the staff members they said they go off the normal retail price of the items but I don’t see why someone would want to pay $10 more for a used item.

Ever since the new owners took over, this place is great! Very friendly and helpful staff, tons of good clothes for kids. Totally different atmosphere in here. I used to hate going here but I’ll definitely be back more often now!

I sold new clothes (still with stickers and tags) for about a dollar each. If you have someone you can gift to, its better to gift. But if you dont, then its better than nothing. But dont wait for a call back about the offer for your stuff - it didnt happen for me and I waited about 4 hours. Pricewise, its more expensive than Savers (especially if you shop the color tag sales). Organized well for you to find colors or lengths you want (pants are not folded like at Kid to Kid).

The store is clean and organized. The new owners are nice. My disappointment is that lately the prices have gone up. I buy for a 3 year old and a 9 month. Many of the prices are the same as I would pay at Carter’s. I have gone back 3 times and left empty handed. Shame as I would love going here.

Horrible store with horrible employees2 ladies and guy behind counter were very rude and didn’t speak when I entered. Also made me feel like I wasn’t welcomed. When asking questions regarding products in I was ignored. If I could give this 183 location negative stars I would.If I were you I would shop at kid to kid across the street which is a woman owned business and they at least make you feel welcomed.

When I dropped off a tub of toys they let me know it would be a while before they got to it, that was fine. When I got back only 1 person was running the register for checkouts and for me to find out how much they were taking and how much I could get. They picked 6 items and told me 4.90. I said no thats ok I will just take them back. The lady proceeded to drop my toys on top of the ones they wouldnt take with no regard to be nice about it. When I say drop I mean literally dropped them in the tub. So rude. She had red hair. They will never have my business.

Stellar management and staff. I really enjoy shopping here with the change in atmosphere from previous months and years. I can always find something for my kids!

I waited around 2 hrs for my items to be inspected and chosen. They offered me $3 for 5 items which 2 of them are New.What an insult... Ill probably have better luck at a yard sale..

The store itself is pretty neat, but they do not give you much money at all for anything. Also, I went today to sell something and they are picky about how clean it is, even though its pretty clean and a lot of their things are nasty. The clothes have holes in them a lot. Today I saw the manager treat his employees badly in front of everyone. Nice to customers, not to employees.

I walked in to sell at 4:00 (drove from the airport area), and I was told that there would not be any more buying because they were backed up from lunch time drop offs. Obviously the salesclerk wasnt too worried, since she was texting while I was looking around. Great first impression.

I called this location to ask if they where buying clothes and they told me yes so I drove 30 minutes there for them to tell me they are not buying clothes. Never again will I waste time at this location. Why tell me you are buying clothes for me to get there 30 mins later with a different story? Especially if its 4 hours before closing. Ill take my business somewhere else.

I think they dont exist anymore.The clothing was always good for a look, as well as the toys and books. The money youd get for turning things in was not worth it.

First time I went in was ok. Second time they lost a piece of a toy I tried to trade in and the “manager “wanted to play a kids game of “no we didn’t “ and refused to correct it. I think her name was Christy and shame on her for acting that way!

They sell reasonably priced higher quality used clothes for kids... however if you plan to take them up on your offer to buy clothes, make sure they are washed, neatly folded and not overly dated styles.

Just went to the 183 store to drop off some items to be purchased. After I had already made two trips from the car, I made eye contact with the sales associate & asked are you still buying, which I figured they were since it was 1.5 hours before closing. She said oh, no they just changed the hours, we stop at 3 on Sundays. Is this correct & why didnt she greet me on my first trip & let me know!!I called the 71 store & they said they stop an hour before closing, which has been the case in the past. I think the sales associate just didnt want to go through my bags. I think I will take my business to Kids RKids as other posters have mentioned.

Simply horrible. I drove across town with my toddler to sell two unused (in the box) toys before their posted buy back hours. I get in well ahead of time and am told they only issue store credit... when I say thats fine (thinking Im sure Ill find something) she tells me shes the only person here and is done buying for the day. I plead my case and she says ok.... then after I wait around another 10 mins she tells me she cant buy as it would be unfair to another shopper shed already told no to earlier. I will NEVER be back.

There are new owners, and its better then ever. They reorganized, restocked, and are honoring the points system from before.Theyre also going to expand their size selection.

Drove from Temple yesterday. Told them I didnt like how a size spans several aisles. the employee, her manager, and the owner argued me half to death over my OPINION of their layout. And their prices have gone up a LOT. My kids are 5 and 6. I do 90 percent of my shopping here and they just lost a customer.

If i could give this place zero stars i would, not only are the people that work there are rude, everything is way overpriced, i can get better deals and quality clothes etc on the buy sell trade groups. I most definitly wont be back.

Great second hand store for children of different age range. I am not a fan of selling to this location because very good condition clothing has been rejected for over use or not current style, but when I shop, several of their boys shirts are shrunk, miss aligned from over dry or torn up and not in a fashionable manner. I have noticed some personal favoritism.

Takes a while for them to go through clothes you want to sell but they offer cash for what they want. The store itself is stark and sterile.

The customer service here is terrible, the staff 2 women just sit behind the counter looking annoyed to have to sort through clothes as if that isnt how income is generated.

Found whole bunch of stuff for the grandbabies, some toys but mostly clothes. Would definitely recommend for people with babies.

Some of the clothes are fairly priced. Others are obviously out of season and style, and priced about as much as you would pay at a normal store. The employees are usually pretty rude with the same miserable looks and attitudes every time. And they offer SUCH LOW PRICES, YOU WILL DO YOURSELF A FAVOR GOING ACROSS THE STREET TO KID 2 KID. I took a brand new pair of pink Sperrys, brand new pink Nikes, and Keds in great condition. To get offered about $6. I asked how much for a brand new never worn pair of converse, and she told me $1. These shoes were over $30 each and 3/4 of them never even worn! I suggest going somewhere that actually gives you profit after gas money to get there, and with employees that dont seem mad that you walked in. I went to Kid 2 kid for the first time as I was a usual Once Upon A Child customer, and I will never return to OUAC.

The music playing in the store is completely inappropriate for a childrens store. They were playing a song with almost every other word bleeped out and the words that were not bleeped out were very vulgar. Absolutely inappropriate and unprofessional! I was so appalled by the music I put my items back and went across the highway to Kid to Kid. Now, seeing the Google ratings comparison between Once Upon A Child and Kid to Kid, I should have known better than to go to OUAC.

This place is ok, most of the items are over priced. They wont buy an expensive baby carrier with a small stain but theyll sell clothes with stains.

This place is odd and the employees are just awkward. Not friendly but not rude, definetly not perky.The clothes are price very reseasonable, and i will be going back, butwhen making an offer they will not let you touch what they are taking out of the things i brought for the store to buy which is really strange to me.If there is no other store like them in austin, but if there was i probably would go there instead.

Gave them my bags said they would call in two hr, went back in two hrs to browse around and buy some items by then it had been an extra hr no call and was ready to check out and still no one had went thru the clothes ?? Is it that hard to do that.... and to top that off when we were browsing around a lady said in quote Im going to take 1hr of lunch... make it 1 1/2 because I want to? Did not like this location

I buy and sell kids clothing at its other two locations. I was terribly disappointed they werent buying that particular day. I still went into store to see if i could find anything for my kiddos. Customer service was None!!!Dont think ill go back to this location!
