Initially i took my car to Checkpoint because i could walk home from there. Its right across the street from where i live. My 99 Mercury Grand Marquis had a tricky leak that two other shops had not been able to remedy. Now, i take both of my cars there because they are the best auto shop i have found in the area. Paul takes the time to explain to me what the problem is and then what the cost will be to fix it. That can be a tough conversation and the way he handles it makes it less painful. Then Larry is a pleasure to talk with! They also let me know of future repairs to get done as needed and how long i may have to wait on them with my budget. Will keep taking my cars there even if i move more than a mile away!
Great mechanics, they were able to diagnose a problem on my car that even the dealership couldnt figure out. Im totally satisfied with their work.
Great establishment, from the management to the techs, great service, professionalism and very thorough. Fingers crossed that they open their shop to diesel customers as well.
Came into this shop looking to get a pre-purchase inspection. I was helped by Paul and he was very friendly and professional. I was seen on time for my appointment and he broke down all the results of my inspection. Great mechanic and good environment that I will 100% be returning to if I need anything done on my car.
The staff at Checkpoint are very professional and are clear communicators. They wrote up the repairs needed from the oil leak after they were determined and gave information on some other potential up-coming repairs. No persuasive selling, just a good, honest evaluation. They have earned my respect and future business!
The staff here is AMAZING, they tell you everything you need to know about repairs and let you decide what to do. They are not there to take you to the bank, they really understand customer relations.
This place is great! Great customer service, pricing and willingness to help you get your car back to normal! Would recommend to anyone who needs any service to Checkpoint Thank you Paul ! You the man!
Great knowledgeable guys. Paul is great. They know theyre stuff and wont charge arm and leg.
These guys are awesome, i have a mini cooper countryman 4wd turbo, that had a brake squeak/ groan a couple weeks ago, i brought my car into another shop, and they couldnt diagnose the problem. i then got reffered to these guys by a friend, and they found the problem and fixed it from a reasonable price. i will always bring my car to them
Honest and fair prices, things that are hard to find nowadays. Would highly recommend.
Larry Olsen has been one of the best people to do business with. He’s taken care of all the vehicles in my family for about 17 years or so. Not once have we had any issues with his services and he’s always gone the extra mile to take care of us. He’s very honest and will always give you his best advice in regards to anything concerning your vehicle. On top of all this, he’s a nice guy and I always have a good time talking with him! Working with him and his car mechanics has given me a lot of peace of mind and has been a very enjoyable experience over the years.
Paul was outstanding, only reason I would ever use this place - if you lose Paul, Id never return.
Checkpoint has been servicing my 98 Toyota for a number of years. Its an old truck but it has more miles to give. Checkpoint is thorough, fair and experienced. They keep me on the road. There is nowhere else Id go for service.
Checkpoint Automotive is my go-to car shop for all of my familys vehicles. The Checkpoint team is thorough and professional. Any issues are explained clearly, the pricing is fair, and the work is done when promised. My car is always returned to me with the work completed, and even vacuumed. While my car is in the shop, they send me updates via email and text if I choose, with diagnostic stats and photos of my car. They have a great rewards program that offers occasional discounts. I highly recommend Checkpoint Automotive! Larry and the team are the best, and they truly care about customers and their vehicles.
Went in for a routine oil change, but the information provided on the vehicle is extensive with no pressure to follow through on any recommended actions. When my check engine light came on the same afternoon, they made a point to stay that evening to make sure the car was okay. Larry is always courteous and cares for his customers.
Always do a good job. Little pricey. Love the inspection report with photos.
Brought a volvo for check up and screening before buying and the service and documentation provided proves that the work/checks were done and done correctly. I liked the pictures of the parts too. Great job & bravo Zulu everyone!
Wonderful guys. very customer focused. They set the bar high for all of the others! My advice? Go there!
The reviews are true. This place is a welcome exception to the experience Ive had at many mechanics. I ended up coming here after one of those in and out oil change places attempted to scare me into believing I needed new brakes immediately. Naturally, that places prices were obscene. I brought my car here for rear brakes and was told they werent necessary as mine had some life left (~4mm). I was given a full report on my cars condition with things that should be looked at sooner as well as things that could wait. I greatly appreciate the piece of mind that comes with an honest report of my cars condition. Ive been here 3 times so far. 2 Oil changes, a belt replacement and most recently for brakes. 10/10 would recommend.
I started taking my Lexus to Checkpoint in 2013. They are always courteous, quick and reasonably priced. On my first trip there, I was told my water pump needed replacing.I told them Id just had that done in the last year at my last mechanic. They were quick to remind me that it was under warranty where it was installed and could be replaced, free of charge, due to the faulty installation. That was exactly what happened. I was grateful for the reminder. After taking my car in for a recall and receiving a list of items from the dealership that needed attention, I brought my car to Checkpoint for an oil change and gave them the list. They reviewed the items and let me know what needed to be done and what could wait. I appreciate the budget-friendly approach, knowing that my car is closely monitored under their care when I bring it in for oil changes. This morning, I pulled out of my parking spot at the post office and heard a noise. A panel had come loose under the engine and was dragging on the pavement. Being right across the street, I drove up and let them know what was going on, they secured the piece by adding a lost bolt, free of charge, and had me on my way in 19 minutes!
Ive been taking my cars to Checkpoint Automotive for almost 20 years now. Larry and more recently Paul and crew have always been amazing, truthful and great to work with. Thanks so much for everything!
Got an oil change here after moving from Texas to Colorado, guys were friendly honest and did an electronic inspection with pictures. Competitive prices
No one ever called me back.
Im not from the area, but needed to have a used car checked out. They were able to squeeze me in and did a great job. Their finished report had a great explanation of each issue and there were pictures as well. The entire report was emailed to me for later reference. Loved the service and work I had done. Would highly recommend this place.
Prices went up alot!:((
Been a customer for must be close to 15 yrs. Always professional. Always quality work at a fair price. Trustworthy.
Brought in a car that I was interested in buying for an inspection. Larry the owner is very friendly, polite, and knowledgable. They took pictures of everything, and Larry answered all of my questions in thorough detail. They are very honest and straight forward. Definitely have earned my business!
Had a terrific experience with Check Point automotive. Paul and Larry were great to work with. Its hard to find a truly honest repair shop but I think that describes this place. Really liked the fact that they understood that I was needing the bare minimum just to get the car functioning. Instead of trying to upsell they provided practical assistance. We will absolutely continue to go there and will recommend to friends.
I recently used Checkpoint Automotive for the first and have been extremely happy. I worked with Paul and Dennis and both men were very polite. They took the time to explain in detail what needed to be done on my 17 year old 4Runner and was able to do the repairs that same day. I feel their prices are very fair and I would highly recommend them. Thank you to all of the staff at Checkpoint Automotive!
First new shop I’ve taken my car to in almost four years, and I would definitely recommend them. They were very honest about what needed immediate attention while providing excellent customer service. I didn’t look since I wasn’t expecting this, but they texted me frequently throughout the day with updates on my car and how the inspection/maintenance process was going. They even included photographs. 5/5 absolutely.
I have been a customer of Checkpoint Automotive since Larry opened the business 20 years ago. Over those many years, I have had a number of different makes and models of vehicles and they have been able to perform quality service on each one of them. Larry and his team are like a family and they treat their customers like members of that family. I give them my highest possible endorsement.
Wonderful experience! Honest, quick, and reliable service (very fair pricing too). I took my car here before purchasing it to see what condition it was in. I got an appointment right away and was walked through what to look for when purchasing a car. They gave me an extremely detailed report that showed the good, what needs future attention, and what needed attention immediately. I live miles away from this shop, but because of their honesty and genuine help I will continue to use them. It’s always hard finding a new mechanic, but these guys make it easy. . . Give them a try, you’ll be happy you did.
I’ve been taking my vehicles here for several years and have always been pleased with their service! They always get me in, even last minute. The guys are super friendly and knowledgeable. They have always gave me a heads up on things to keep an eye on, but don’t pressure me into spending more than I have to. Great business!
These guys have been our family mechanics for years. I have always been impressed with their professionalism and how well they treat their customers. They keep in contact with you throughout any diagnostic or repair work so you know what is going on and if anything is better or worse then they originally thought. They have always been great about working with me with various cars and honest with their opinions on what has to be done and what could be put off or didnt need to be done right then. They have also been very upfront about when I have had cars that were worth less then fixing them! (Which I really appreciate😊)
Larry is a true business owner and it shows. I value his opinion and he has earned my trust ten fold. Im always wary about mechanics but I have been doing some services here and recently they have solidified themselves as a shop that I can trust.
The communication is outstanding!! That was one of the faults at AAMCO Trans.-Aurora. Really liked the Autovitals site. Everything was clear and gave you an excellent perspective of whats going on with your vehicle. I would recommend Checkpoint Auto to my friends and would bring my vehicle here again.
Id been a faithful patron for over six years, having never needing any real maintenance done other than oil changes etc. As one of the other reviewers noted theyre very good at changing oil and they do good work, but youre going to pay for it. After having some work done I was surprised at the cost (over 1/2 the cost was for labor, and all i had done was a replacement of a window motor). I called the Chevy dealer and asked how much the same service would cost, they quoted me $65.00 less for the maintenance and $25.00 less for the part and thats from the dealer. So if you want a good place to have your oil changed, theyre competitive and good at it. If you want maintenance done theyre good at it and very nice people, but youre going to pay a premium, they arent competitive price wise.
Larry and team are great. Always thorough, and I know I can trust their recommendations.
I have been taking my cars to checkpoint auto for years. Checkpoint automotivea staff has always been very honest with me about the repairs that need to done to my cars!!! The staff at checkpoint doesnt want to charge you for work that doesnt need to be done. I would recommend this trustworthy shop and staff toAnyone looking for a great auto repair service!
Friendly helpful and honest. Fair prices
Called for a general quote on a major repair and they said they have to do a diagnosis first. I even explained it could be more then I want to spend ... they didnt care. They want to get your car in the shop first which is completely wrong.
A not inexpensive but honest bunch of very good mechanics. Recommended.
The staff was very friendly, informative and supportive. They explained all the work that was going to be done and called with an update once they started. I felt confident that the work was done correctly and that prices were appropriate and close to the estimate. I will be going back again
They have awesome service. Will definitely go back when needed..
Great mechanic shop. Nice and friendly staff. I would go here every time. Prices are great for quality of parts and service. A definite recommendation for any one.
Great service. Went in to get an oil change and to get my belt fixed. Turned out my headlight was out and I had a coolant leak. Was in and out within three hours. They were transparent about the problem and the cost to fix it. Would definitely recommend!!
So I have been taking my 3 cars to Checkpoint for years now. The previous owners really knew the value of a customer as they always did the right thing in putting the customer first. Yesterday was the last straw! I sent in my teenage daughter and they took advantage of her! Her message indicator every 3 months shows that the antifreeze is low. She also was taking it in for what I knew was a strut that needed to be replaced and an oil change. In our previous experiences here no problem in topping off the fluids with an oil change and replacing a bulb that was out all for no charge. After getting an upsetting phone call from my daughter that the mechanics were completely rude to her I had enough! $131.00 later for an oil change, which included a $50.00 charge to put the car up on the rack and look underneath! I wanted to support the local owner and being that it was convenient to the house it was great. Never again will I go here!
Had an oil change and check up done on the vehicle. The team was very prompt and did a thorough job changing oil and checking all the fluids on a vehicle. The service writer, Dennis Dejnowski informed me of the work to be done and was very courteous and professional. An absolute asset to the team.
Larry and his team have been working on our vehicles for years. They are always reliable, explain the repairs and treat their customers with respect! Thanks again!
Larry the owner is a terrific guy. He doesnt nickel & dime you for every little thing. I been coming here for years & would recommend others to do so also.
Check Point Automotive and the staff are excellent. Thank you for the years of excellent service you provided while we lived in Aurora. We recently retired and moved away and wanted to let you know that we thought you were an outstanding quality auto repair service.
We have used Checkpoint Automotive service for our cars for over 15 years. They are trustworthy, provide excellent service and I highly recommend them!
Very good service. Excellent staff, responsive. We have used their services since they opened
Took my 2015 F-250 in for a coolant flush and instead of just doing the flush and charging me they told me of a leak in the radiator and suggested I take it to the dealer as it was still under warranty. Great place
I was recommended to Checkpoint by a neighbor when I was having issues with a Jeep Commander. I had been quoted $369 at another shop for a repair that ended up taking Checkpoint 15 minutes and less than $100. Larry and Keith were professional, thorough, and honest. I could not be more pleased.
Honest establishment. They take photos of your car parts and email summary. Friendly staff. Clean bathrooms.
Yeah. Theyre great if you have a new vehicle. They could care less if you have an older vehicle though. Lol
Great garage. Very honest and they are using some great internet tools for tracking services performed on our vehicles. Have been using them for several years now.
I appreciated that Paul was able to get me in and take care of mutiple requests in a timely manner. The team was easy to communicate with, were prompt, professional and affordable.
My family and I have been taking our cars to Checkpoint Automotive for over a year now. The professional and kind service we receive is excellent! We highly recommend this shop!
We have been customers of Checkpoint for over a year and they have provided our routine care for our vehicles as well as a couple of larger jobs and we have been very pleased with the care we have received. Most often Dennis has been the one to provide customer service to us and he has not disappointed. He is welcoming, very pleasant wether its is 0730 and the day is just starting or, 1700 and its time to go home. Dennis comes around the counter and talks with you face to face and answers questions and even takes your phone calls when you have more questions! 🙂 Checkpoint will give you a complete run down of what they did to your vechicle, pictures and all, as well as provide estimates for anything else you may need done. The rewards program and the military discount they provide as well is icing on the cake! Thank you Checkpoint!
We visited this store even before their failed promotion and it was slow then. Now it is even more slow than before. We gave them one last try and they wait would have been over 45 minutes. For over priced chicken it sure is popular.
Everything was excellent, as always. I even got a new hubcap!
Weve been going to Checkpoint since they opened and have never been disappointed. Its a great comfort to know you will be treated with honesty and fairness.
Our company has a fleet of 18 cars that we take to this auto repair shop. 7 years ago owner Larry Olsen and his men impressed us with their honesty, reliability, and professionalism. Today, our relationship grows as they earn our business with each regular or unexpected visit.
Like the shop. Larry makes sure things.get done right.
I took a trip from Texas recently and found this shop to be a quality shop, friendly, knowledgeable and honest.
Great service and very friendly and responsive staff. Would highly recommend them to anyone needing a great Mechanic.
I had a great experience. Larry and his crew treated me with courtesy and professionalism. I will be back!
Larry and Denis the rest of the crew are alway top notch.I never thought Id find a mechanic you can actually trust, I was wrong, you can their name, Checkpoint Automotive.
My granddaughter took her car there, because it wouldnt pass emissions. It needed a catalytic converter. They gave her an estimate for over $1600.00. Needless to say, we were able to get it done for less than $500.00 elsewhere, parts & labor. I would never take any of my vehicles there.
I called to inquire about getting my spark plugs changed on a car that wasnt difficult to change. Because Ive had someone do it in 15min in the past. They wants $665. Hahahaha total ripoff this place should be shut down
Im always in and out of here. With or without an appointment. My car has been running great for years thanks to the guys here.
Ive been taking my cars to Checkpoint for 9 years now and they have always been fast, great with communication, reliable and reasonable on price.
The guys were nice enough... HOWEVER, when I specifically call to see if you will work on a VW and you tell me yes and give me a quote for the cost and timeframe of the appointment I expect accuracy. I went in after being told a transmission fluid flush on my VW was going to cost me $230. I did my due diligence and called around to several places and asked them if they worked on VWs (because not everyone will) and also asked them their prices for a particular service. The VW dealership quoted me $430 so I thought I was getting a deal! The guy on the phone told me the flush would take 3-3.5 hours. I dropped my car off a few days later at the scheduled time and was told they would call me when it was done. 4 hours later I get a phone call letting me know that they had JUST pulled my car into the garage and that the quote I was given was incorrect because on VWs they have to drain the transmission fluid differently than other cars... which I already knew.... which is why I called and specifically asked for a quote for a VW! The total cost came out to $378! - NEARLY AS MUCH AS THE DEALERSHIP!! The waitlist at any given shop for this kind of service is nearly a week out and I had already taken the day off of work so I told them to just do the job. Nearly 5 hours after I initially dropped off my car and spent $400 I got my car back and feel ripped off. I DEFINITELY WILL NOT BE BACK!
Great people, one of the cleanest and nicest shops Ive ever been it. If they take that much pride in the shop, I know theyll take pride in my vehicle repairs.
I took my vehicle in because the check engine light was on and the brake light switch was faulty. I told them I thought the problems were related but they charged me $50 to confirm the problem I already knew existed (the faulty brake switch) and then almost $150 more for the parts and labor (you can buy a brake light switch online for around $25). They then said the brake problem had been fixed but the check engine light was still on but they could diagnose the problem for another $120. I said no way and took the car to Auto Zone to get the check engine fault code for free. Not surprisingly, the problem was related to the brake light switch exactly as I had told them. I managed to get the check engine light to turn off simply by disconnecting the battery for a few minutes (which they should have done while replacing the brake switch earlier anyway). So not only did they charge me an outrageous sum to replace a simple part, they tried to get me to spend an extra $120 for a problem that shouldnt have existed if they actually did their jobs correctly! I wont ever be giving them my business again!
Todays oil change reminded me why since 1999, Larry Olsen & his Checkpoint Automotive team have maintained all my vehicles: a new 2016 Fusion, a track run 347,000 mile 1995 Firehawk, a 1970 Trans Am and a 1969 GTO. Larry and team have always been polite & professional and have proven themselves competent in service and repairs ranging from an oil changes to clutch replacement, failed power window motors to difficult to identify and correct driveability problems. Not every repair goes as planned, and when Ive had issues with a repair, Larry and team have worked amicably with me to reach a satisfactory result. Despite inevitable staff turnover through the years, Larrys team has delivered the same high caliber service. Checkpoint Automotive is where I turn for help anytime I have a problem with one of my vehicles--old or new!
I really appreciate your effort and sincerity when I brought my car in to Check point automotive inc.
Very expensive for getting a car battery replaced. But Checkpoint is friendly and fast.
Ridiculously high prices, served with a smile. Took my daughters car here because of steering and brake problems, and was surprised to find the parts alone had almost a 500% markup based on what you can find at AutoZone, NAPA, or OReillys. The owner will give you some song and dance about how their parts are so much more amazing and their warranty is better, but 500% is outrageous. And you dont even want to know the charge for labor! After doing some internet research, it seems that a fair shop markup is supposed to be around 25-50% higher than what you can find retail. Certainly not the case at Checkpoint! When I complained about the outrageous prices, the owner just shrugged and said everybody does it. Furthermore, Checkpoint said I needed to replace the front brake pads, rotors, and calipers for $950. Turns out when another mechanic got the wheels off and showed me, all I needed was new front brake pads ($50 parts + 1 hr labor). Bottom line, if you want to be oversold and money is no object, then Checkpoint is for you. Otherwise, buyer beware!
Great place! Very personable, reliable and honest.
I posted a review earlier in a fit of anger spewing on about spending almost $3500 over two visits to fix an emission failure due to high nox. The first visit was me asking and recieving a tune up and diagnostics. The second fail and visit was to indentify and fix the high nox. Failed again, but it went down. In anyevent the workers were cordial, providrf a fre loaner, eere expedient. The tirade wasnt fair. I was frustrated.
Easy to use
Great job, great people! I wont go to any other shop in the area.
Really great people and service... I highly recommend!
Competitive prices and the staff was very helpful
Guys are pretty rude. Now I can see when I went in why every bay was empty. It was on a saturday too.
My go to mechanic! Very friendly. Highly recommend, but pricey.
Quick turnaround and good price. Thanks, Dennis!
On the way west across the country my Subaru had a problem that, at the dealership, was estimated at thousands of dollars to fix. I took my car to Checkpoint and after a couple of days in Aurora, I was back on the road for less than a quarter of what the dealership had decided on. They were even kind enough to give us a lift down the street while the car was being worked on. Big thanks to Dennis, Dallas, Shawn, and the rest of the gang at checkpoint.
Went in for an Oil Change and to get my fog light re-wired. The Checkpoint team exceeded my expectations.
Always friendly and professional!
Larry Olsen Checkpoint have been our trusted auto-mechanical resource for the last 15 years.
Epic
Had a bad experience.
Very professional and friendly.
Charges double the price to get work done compared to every shop in town.
Great shop and honest people
Great service!
