Everything I needed to start a great day. Excellent breakfast with a shout to the banana nut foster french toast, perfectly cooked applewood smoked bacon and eggs, and a terrific cup of coffee! The service and staff were very friendly, and really helped get the day on the way with a positivity that was very appreciated!!
Should be a contender for one of Atlanta’s top 10 brunch spots. The sweet potato beignets were light and fluffy, covered in an excellent powdered sugar. Omelettes at many restaurants can be hit or miss, this was a definite hit. Very sizable and can be customized with a variety of veg/non veg fillers. My wife’s sweet potato pancakes were tasty and well-portioned, she could not finish in one sitting. The wait staff is super attentive and professional. There was a slight error in my meal and the server remedied the situation within 2 minutes of our food coming out. Coffee was kept topped off and hot.Very cute, comforting interior. May be a bit tight inside space wise if you’re very concerned for COVID risk, but the staff wore masks (mandatory) and many other customers did as well. Can’t wait to come back! May be crowded on weekends, so recommend trying during the week if you don’t want a long wait!
Better than average food. The service could be better but I dont blame the people working there. They seem maybe understaffed.Ive had their grilled cheese which was delicious. The burger (pictured) was good, easily 2 meals if you want it to be. The fries were a little under-fried so I was happy to find they are much better after using my airfryer for the second meal I had.I also had the grit fritters which was good. The peach jam didnt really go well with them but it was nice to add something to cut through the savoriness.Im happy to see this restaurant here and hope it does well, but hopefully the employees are able to not be overwhelmed, I think thats the biggest issue
YUM!We got the sweet potato beignets, Navigator, and the roasted chili verde pork. Everything was really delicious! The Baileys coffee and summer sangria were a huge plus.We arrived around 9:30am and were immediately seated. About 20 mins later the line was wrapped around the building, so get there early!
Disappointing. Chose the restaurant because of its appearance on DDD but the meatball sandwich is no longer on the menu. The Bad to the Bone sandwich was bland. The mac and cheese was a tad greasy but flavorful. The lobster roll was a huge letdown. Absolutely flavorless. Our server was fantastic and the place was really nice.
One of my favorite breakfast places in Atlanta! I can’t get past the breakfast menu I haven’t tried lunch yet. My girlfriend and I went to Folk Art during the week. Tough to get in on the weekend.I ordered the Steak and Eggs and she had the shrimp and grits. She said the shrimp and grits were the best she’d ever had.Everything I’ve had here has been delicious. They have a lot of good choices and it’s hard to choose what to order.
Absolutely terrible service. Took forever for our server Cameron to come to the table to start. He was clearly more interested giving massages to the female staff than taking care of his tables. Couldnt get drinks refilled from him. Had to ask another server for refills. Food came out cold. We told him about and he couldnt have cared less. Definitely will never go to this place again. I guess this is the type of service you get when gratuity is automatically included in every check. Cant do that and hire lazy people like Cameron
While visiting family in Atlanta, we went to Folk Art for breakfast on a Thursday morning. No problem getting seated. Food was great. I finally got a chance to try Delias chicken sausage. Love that they use local foods. Service was very good. I dont love that they automatically add a gratuity. Im usually more generous than that and dont like that they impose a minimum. I understand why, but just dont like it.
It was a mixed bag at Folk Art Restaurant. While I enjoyed my meal, my husband had the opposite experience.I ordered a BYO omelette which I added American cheese, mushrooms, green chilies and veggie sausage. The eggs were light and fluffy, the cheese was melted to perfection - enveloping the other ingredients in tangy, gooey goodness. The hash browns and toast were standard. I enjoyed my meal enough to go back.My husband ordered the “Lobster” Benedict. It was not lobster. It was what seemed like crawfish along with imitation Krab. The protein was flat and stringy, and the taste fishy - not dense and sweet like lobster meat. The poached eggs were over-cooked to hard boiled. He didn’t like his enough to go back. The service was fine. They all seemed disinterested, and like they didn’t want to be there.
More than worth my 25 min wait to get in. Got the fowl waffles, it was to die for. Best restaurant in my Atlanta visit.
Great place. I had sweet potato waffles and chicken and peach compote. It was good but not great. I heard rave reviews from others in my party about the lobster rolls and the shrimp and grits. Price was about 10 to 16 per entree.
I love this place. I write this review as I savor the last few morsels of their mac and cheese. This is no ordinary Mac and cheese, its presented with a caramelized bottom that adds texture to this already perfectly balanced Mac. Now on to the grits with its bits of corn and hints of other flavor enhancers. For the first time in my life I didnt need to add butter to the grits. As for the remainder of the menu, I must say I enjoyed a good ole game of whats that as countless picture perfect dishes flew from the kitchen to hungry customers. These dishes looked straight out of a commercial with cascading syrup and perfect plating. Attentive and above all pleasant staff and you may even hear some singing coming from the kitchen. I recommend this spot all the way. Ill be back.
This place came highly recommended and I ended up highly disappointed. I really hate not being able to leave a good review I ended up getting a Reuben with fries. The fries were not good. I dont know how you screw up fries they were greasy and soft. As for the Reuben I recommend that the owners try Arbys does Arbys have a much better Reuben for half the price. I know thats kind of sad sorry.
My friend and I had driven up from Columbus to go see the Gem and Stone show in in Lawrenceville and decided to find somewhere to grab a bite for lunch. I found this little hole in the wall on Google maps. Menu seemed highly intriguing. Took us about 30 minutes to reach this place from the campgrounds.Finding a parking spot was a little crazy, but where is that NOT an issue in Atlanta? Once we parked, we walked down the hill and put our names in for the lunch queue. We had a 45 minute to an hour wait (covid + lunch rush so no surprise there).Once they texted us that our table was ready, we were sat quickly at a table by the restaurant front. They have a very pretty view, if youre lucky to get a table at the front. The menu is accessed from a QR code right on the table. Just open your phones camera and scan it. It will take you right to the menu online! They also provide hand sanitizer on the table which was amazing. Typically I have to have my own.The menu is very versatile. They serve breakfast all day as well as some classic lunch and dinner options. We tried two of the appetizers - the sweet potato beignets, and the fried pickles - double YUM!My friend ordered the southern comfort (shrimp sautéed with onions and shrimp sauce over grits and with fried eggs). She hates the texture of grits but loved this dish and ate every bite!I ordered the patty melt with Mac and cheese, a side of collards and a side of mushrooms. Trying to get a variety to review, lol! The patty melt is served on swirl rye bread. Everything was delicious! The mac was rich and cheesy, the mushrooms sautéed to perfection and the collards were perfectly seasoned and slightly crispy. They automatically bring you water, but we ordered some of their drinks too. My friend ordered and earl grey which came with lemon and honey, and I ordered a southern sweet tea, and a cappuccino with baileys Irish cream. The drinks were all spot on!When we got the check, they do calculate an 18% gratuity into the check already, but overall, for what we ordered, we got our moneys worth and it was all delicious. Highly recommend this place for something a little different! It was well worth the wait.
You want a REAL and FRESH breakfast go here. Their French toast is always cooked right and toast is amazing. Their food providers are awesome and there preparation is even better
Very cute spot. The ambiance was nice. Our server was kind & attentive. The food was pretty good. I ordered the Folk Southern Fried & my partner got the Foul Play. Both were exactly what was expected. 1 star off because they had an estimated 30-minute wait time & we gave our number to the hostess so we could return to our car to wait (as there was no space to wait outside the doors due to crowding). 30mins go by, no phone call. So we call them instead & they tell us they’ve called our name twice. When we mentioned that we left our number they said that they tried the number & it didn’t go through or wasn’t working or something, I don’t know exactly what they were trying to say it was but it was clear that no one really called nor even tried to call the number I gave. During my meal I did realize that I don’t think they have a hostess or host though; it seems that the servers all just kinda watch the door & take turns welcoming guests. Overall, not super impressed with our experience. I’d consider giving it another shot in the future.SN: The restaurant was not all that busy. The extended wait time was due to lack of table availability due to social distancing measures.
The food was absolutely amazing. I loved the relaxing location and the wait for seating was pretty short. The interior decoration is pretty cool but one thing that I did notice was the lack of any folk art. Other than a small wall mural there was pretty much no folk art. Other than that I had a great time and had some great food. I can here for breakfast on my birthday and had an awesome experience. I would definitely recommend coming here especially for breakfast.
This is without question the best breakfast I have ever had. Gluten free options galore and the food basically tastes like God is in the kitchen preparing it. Unreal. Will fly to Atlanta to eat here again.
This was my first time back in a few years. The food was still pretty good, but the service has drastically gone downhill. We had to wait an inexcusable amount of time to order as well as get the bill, especially for an almost empty restaurant. The servers seemed to be mostly sitting around on their phones instead of checking on their customers. I believe servers should make a living wage, but can only associate the disappointing service with the restaurant implementing compulsory tipping
I was expecting to be wowed by the food here, going off of the reviews... but I was a little disappointed. I ordered the huevos rancheros and it just didnt have any seasoning to it whatsoever. It was a solid order, filling... but felt like something I could have just made at home. They were also out of both drinks I tried to order. I would say 3, but I am giving 4 stars because the service was still excellent. Our server (whose name I cant remember, dang it) was awesome.Maybe I should have just ordered a different dish or it was an off day? Not sure
We picked this place based on a Triple-D visit (though he went to the Decatur location). I ordered the lobster roll, which was not seasoned with anything, very bland. Needed lemon, salt, pepper, something. The texture was weird, might even had been imitation stuff. Fries that came with were good. Husband had the Bad to the Bone sandwich, which wasnt bad but not the best, and mac and cheese, which sounded great but was covered in oil so not great. We couldve gone anywhere in Atlanta for lunch and ended up very disappointed.
Chicken sandwich was very good. Friendly service. But be warned that they add gratuity to the bill, even for a group of two, and leave a spot for additional tip so if youre not paying attention youll trip twice.
This had great reviews but everything I tried was awful! We ordered fried green tomatoes and the chicken and waffles. I hated both dishes. Maybe it was a off day as I did come around 2pm and they were closing in at 3pm. Either way my dining experience was quite disappointing
When they don’t want to accept orders over the phone, they’re very rude about it and this is beginning to become an issue . This is the 4th morning of me having to drive a complete hour and a half just to place my order Togo and Wait an additional hour for the food . Idk who’s running this place but they have clearly gotten COMFORTABLE with the money they make and popularity gained. the quality of service is trash, very uninviting . I am not a customer after this .. I get the whole “college, urban, hippie “ vibe .. but it comes with a cost to want to conduct business as you want and not want to appreciate your paying customers
Chicken tasted like I was eating straight pickles, and the biscuit had the consistency of chalk. Also was autocharged gratuity on my pickup order without being told or realizing, so I double tipped.
The vibe and the staff are great! We valet parked, waited about 30 minutes to be seated on a Sunday and then we ordered our food. The food however was just okay. We ordered the fowl play and the waffle part of the fowl play tasted good, but the chicken was dry and not crispy. It was completely covered in a heavy amount of the peach compote, and sadly the peach compote lacked any peach flavor bc the peaches were not ripe. We ate our food, but it was just okay.
Really great place for brunch. Can get super crowded on the weekends so recommend coming weekdays if possible. The food is fresh and well made. Would recommend the Eggs Benedict!
The restaurant is cute on the outside. We were excited when we sat down, but the experience went downhill from there. The air con above the table was leaking, and when we told our server he replied with “I know.” Why…we’re we sitting there? If the water glass was pushed back just one more inch, we would have never known. The food was average, if that. Grilled cheese didn’t even have butter on the bread. The french toast was just…toast. It wasn’t the worst food, just not the best. When we were paying, all of us should have had military discount, but one didn’t get it, one was charged a different amount that was on the check, and the other didn’t even get a military discount. Not that all of that mattered anyways because the cards were mixed and charged wrong checks anyways. When we addressed it with a…manager? Not sure what she was, she proceeded to argue before giving the money back. Over all, the experience was low. We got a cute selfie in front of the snail mural though.
Great food! Cool place! The shrimp and grits (Southern Comfort) and the chicken and waffles (Foul Play) were delicious!! Great brunch spot. The slushy of the week was also insanely delicious.Three people with one slushy and one coffee was $60.Ernesto our waiter was funny, kind, and personable. We had a great time~
Great place I had been wanting to go there for so long. The queue is complicated so I arrived at 9:00am on a Saturday and was seated immediately for a party of 2. Delicious eggs benedict perfectly cooked nice and runny with a great hollandaise. next time I will try their special patty melt called the voyageur if I remember well! Thanks for the great job Cant wait to be back. Bertrand
I was excited about eating at Folk Art after a couple years of not visiting, but what a disappointment. Service was good and the cocktails were fine. The food presentation was horrible and the taste bland. Waffle house could have easily matched or exceeded presentation, quality and taste. Dont waste your money or time unless you just enjoy bland food. We had the breakfast plate and a chicken sandwich. I would not order either again.
This is my favorite place to order chicken and waffles. The meal was light. The waffles were sweet and the chicken wasn’t overly breaded. 5 stars on the meal. Minus one star because I feel the place could’ve been cleaner and my plate was a bit dusty. Service was nice!
This place was excellent! Really enjoyed to atmosphere and service. This place was featured on Diners, Drive-ins and Dives. Their specialty is Sweet Potato Waffles and Pancakes. The pricing was good also, got out about the same price as iHop. It’s tucked away on the east side of Atlanta. Parking is complimentary valet only. Will definitely be going again on my next visit to Atlanta.
I stopped by for brunch on Friday, and I was impressed with the entire experience. Its a cozy spot in a nice location. My server, Brittany was very friendly, and helpful. Im from out of town, and she answered my questions and provided excellent service. I had the Foul Play, which is chicken and waffles, with a side of hot peach, and it was wonderful. I cleaned the plate! L5P is an 8 minute walk through a quiet neighborhood with beautiful trees. Ill definitely return next time Im in town.
I absolutely love this place! It will forever be one of my favorite spots in Atlanta to get breakfast. Dont let the long line fool you, they will get you in quick. I love the salmon platter, the omelette, Benedict anyway, traditional breakfast. Their grits are soo delicious! I always have to get them no matter what. They also really know how to make drinks and give great service. If youre In the area, or not, you should definitely try this place! You will not be disappointed at all!Im a savory kind of gal for breakfast but other people definitely love the chicken and waffles as well as their French toast. Cant go wrong here!
Ordered breakfast takeout this morning and food was ok. The price was outrageous! $65 breakfast for two chicken biscuit meals and an order of beignets. There is a 18% gratuity for takeout orders as well, and the waitress didnt put utensils, drinks, or my gravy in the bag and I had to return. The waitress was nonchalant like this happens often.Way to expensive to be inefficient.
Overall good place for breakfast and brunch. Few things I didn’t like was the music was way too loud and you can’t really have a conversation or hear yourself think. Only other issue was the bacon was undercooked. I will say the music selection was good ‘no dignity” just too loud. Service was good and the wait went really quickly. 4 stars.
Ive been here twice & both times I was not impressed. My coffee was sour like it was old & the food is pretty average. The best part of my meal was the toast & made in house strawberry Jam. Will definitely not be back.
My best friend and I shared the chicken & biscuits plate and we were so happy we did because it is huge! And also very delicious.Service was great. Super chill And cool place...Loved the ambience! Easy street parking. Clean restrooms. We will come back for their pancakes and waffles the next time we visit Atlanta.
I rarely write 1 star reviews for businesses but I had such a bad experience that I cannot ignore this one. The problem with this restaurant is that they add gratuity to the check and thats why the staff dont care about the customer. In fact the servers and the cooks dont try to earn the tip as they know they already got the 18% gratuity and this results in bad service, in general. I would have rated 3 stars for the food if they were more polite when I complained about the gratuity.
Talk about a great spot for brunch and dinner! Ive been coming here since 2013. My husband used to live two blocks down from Folk Art when we first started dating, and it was daaaaangerous. We were here at least once a week for dinner and one day of the weekend for brunch. I know its cliche to say, but you honestly cant go wrong with anything on the menu. The service is always amazing, quick, and friendly. And theyre not afraid to fix something if it doesnt come out the way that was requested. It can get pretty busy on Sat and so can have long wait times, so Id recommend to go Sunday between 1-3. Overall, great place to go to whether you live in the area or are passing through.
There was a bit of a wait, but that’s because it’s popular with the locals. We were able to wait outside on benches or walk around or go to our cars since they text you when your table is ready. Once seated you could scan a code at the end of the table for the menu to pull up in your phone. Each table had a bottle of hand sanitizer and the restaurant was fairly clean. The food came out relatively quickly and was all delicious. Highly recommend!
Cool breakfast spot. Had the fried green tomato, coffee, salmon Patties and I was happy as a peach. The wait was about 30 min on a Saturday but that may be due to ensuring customer safety. They did their best to keep people spread apart where they could.
Love the food! Love the staff! Love the restaurant! Must try if you have the opportunity.
I have heard about this place from friends but has never had the opportunity to visit. I found some time this past week and took advantage as my time to check them out.I went as soon as they opened, so finding seating was pretty easy. I was greeted by a friendly server as soon as I sat down. I ordered the Foul Play, which is Chicken and Waffles. The food came out rather quickly, putting the overall service for this establishment as an A+ in my book. My food was good. The chicken was seasoned decently and my eggs were cooked exactly as I asked. Not sure what they used but I absolutely fell in the love with the syrup they used.Overall I would visit here again. They have some other good options that I look forward to trying in the near future.
NOT GREAT FOR TAKE-OUT. This was $15.... There was no gravy with my biscuits! Just kind of disappointed, I feel like this place would be great for dine-in but that’s not what I did and I feel like I was ripped off because of it. The chicken and eggs are both tasty, but c’mon now for $15??? I also ordered a latte, and not only did they forget (I had to ask for it), they also only gave me maybe half a cup of coffee.
Came here Sunday for brunch around 10am. Only had a 15 minute wait, and they had seating for us. The dining area was cozy as they were very busy. The service was very good and the food was absolutely amazing. For the price you get a lot of very good homemade food. We couldnt finish ours. The chicken was fried to perfection and you have to try the sweet potato donuts 🤤
Totally enjoyed the experience. Cool vibe, nice ambiance, super waitress, food delish! Reasonable prices. Presentation like high end restaurant. Decatur downtown location. Yum!
Family and I moved from Wisconsin recently and found ourselves hungry while out shopping in Atlanta.Hands down best breakfast I’ve had in GA and quite possibly best breakfast I’ve had anywhere!Try the southern fried!
The food was pretty good, I had the Fowl Play with French toast instead of waffles. The staff was nice and friendly, overall a nice experience!
Good god people, get you some of this!! AB SO LUTE LY LIFE CHANGING FOOD!!! the lure of sweet potato waffles and beignets are what brought me, but the grit fritters made me wanna cry, they were so good! the smore french toast was so good, next time Im trying it as a waffle! my cappuccino was piled high with pillowy foam, and where else can you find a cocktail with carrot juice?! this place is heaven sent, and i was blessed to find it through my own research of brunch reviews to celebrate a friends birthday. Ill even say that the ac unit was dripping on me while i was there and i frankly couldnt care less because i was so blown away by everything else. food came out SPECTACULARLY fast, i would live in this restaurant if i could. i will be trying to come back here as much as possible (and just sit at a different table😂)! 12/10
Very cool place in Inman Park.. nice atmos and friendly staff…not the best lobster roll but, pretty decent…I have other go top’s for that, but dying to try their breakfast, I have heard great things… will be back..
Ive been here 3x now. Every time the food has been great! The restaurant has a small foot print so if you dont get there early you will wait a long time to get a seat. But hopefully your culinary experience will make the wait worth it!Everything tasted great but we had to request a few items several times and we did not receive an ordered side. They also apparently dont offer coffees to go bc the server brought back coffee in a typical soda cup which is not made to hold hot beverages. In his defense, he tried to warn me that the paper cup would be too hot and they didnt have sleeves. I just imagined a 16 oz paper coffee cup without a sleeve and just suggested he double stack the cup. There was some miscommunication there. No biggie. But I find it odd they dont have to-go coffee cups.On Saturdays, I recommend getting in by 9:30, and Sunday by 10:30. By the time we left at noon, the line was insane. Business is good!
Hate that I forgot to take pics, but breakfast for dinner is always a plus. We had the traditional breakfast all was delicious especially the chicken sausage, pancakes and grit fritters...yum...and the homemade jams. I should have bought some to bring home. Friendly staff..not crowded, saggy still in place and valet parking...perfect.
Service was rather slow. Good was edible. Setting was acceptable. Convenient location, although parking can be challenging.
Very tight on dining space and not recommended for large gatherings. We were charged a gratuity fee for a family of 2 adults and 3 kids, which I didnt notice until we were leaving. Overall, the food was very filling and flavorful without needing additional seasoning, which was surprising.
Giving 3 stars because the food was decent, but not great. The beignet sounded so good and disappointed so much! Would not recommend that at all -- basically four little balls of fried cupcake textured dough with some powdered sugar. The interior wasnt even cooked all the way. We sent it back and didnt finish eating it. I had the shrimp and grits. A healthy amount of food but nothing Id write home about. My moms breakfast looked like she could have made it at home and didnt seem worth the money. They deserve some credit for continuing to have covid level spacing for tables despite most eating establishments having little to no rules around that anymore. Also the 18% gratuity is quite high. Glad I tried this place just out of curiosity but wont be going back and wouldnt recommend it. There is better southern food to be eaten elsewhere.
The food was pretty good. I ordered the veggie sandwich along with the shrimp and grits with the egg on top. For the side I got macaroni and cheese definitely disliked the macaroni and cheese the burnt taste just threw it off. I also ordered the Strawberry Fields I got two of them it was a different taste I would order it again. my mom ordered the pancakes with sausage and eggs she said it taste regular. overall I was satisfied
The make-your-own omelet was delicious! Came with toast, choice of grits or hash browns. Definitely enough food to be satisfied! We also ordered the sweet potato pancakes which were also pretty moist and they gave us 3 so it was plenty to share. Will definitely go back! Only negative is that the restaurant itself is tiny. We brought our 8 month old and had to wait for a seat that would accommodate a high chair
We ordered A LOAD of food online. When we arrived to pick up, a young lady dashed out and gave it to us. She was very polite and welcoming. Everything was Fresh, Hot, and DELICIOUS!! We will definitely dine in next time.
First stop fresh off the plane! Love the vibe of this restaurant, very busy, and the food wasnt bad either! My friend and I both had the Foul Play Chicken and Waffles. Definitely a difficult decision to make considering all of the options! Fried chicken breast with a sweet potato waffle, and whiskey peach compote. Comes with eggs and your choice of meat. This was good however I thought the waffle was a bit tough even after soaking it with the syrup. I liked the whiskey peach compote I wish it had a teeny bit of spice to it and I wish there was a little more served with it. My scrambled eggs were a little runny and I dont like wet scrambled eggs. This was a good first stop! Id definitely like to go back and try something new.
Probably suffering from its popularity. The food was good, but everything was middle of the road to feed the masses. The drinks were good. The only one we tried and didnt like was the mango mimosa, the mango liqueur is too floral and it tastes like perfume. Good service and ambiance.
Unbelievably bad service. Food is decent at best.
Great meal and bloody mary. Enjoyed the atmosphere and received excellent service. Limited seating, but worth the wait!
Loved the atmosphere and great customer service. Would definitely stop by again when visiting Georgia
Great friendly staff. Amazing food. I decided to try poached eggs this day, however Ive never been a fan of a runny egg. Being as though I am from the hood, I like my eggs fried hard and as Brown as my skin, however, this time I decided to give it a go. Now the runny eggs were as terrible as I thought they would be, but thats just my preference. The staff said that they would take them back and give me anything else I wanted off the menu without pay. I insisted that I pay and they still didnt charge! If you like poached eggs, it was a delectable treat... but If not... the French toast what what I like to call bangin!
This place is a great option to have a breakfast in the downtown. Food is served hot and taste delicious. Many options to choose from and prices are not too high considering the area and the portions. We were surprised by the size of the fresh juices cup but I guess thats how much you actually need in a meal. There were a waiting line the whole time we were there, so maybe you should call ahead or go with enough time to wait to be seated.
