Cash Only Establishment. Let me lead lead that π Very good! Came with a friend for breakfast. I had the double dipped French toast, and she the veggie sausage Omelets. Bother were super tasty! Staff was friendly and masked, which I always appreciate. Place was clean. Parking was a little tricky, but not a problem. Would definitely recommend!
Hands down, one of the best breakfasts I have ever had! I had the chicken strips with Belgian waffle and eggs. My husband got the catfish and waffle. Everything tasted wonderful! The restaurant was very busy, but the service was excellent! I would absolutely recommend this restaurant, but make sure you bring your appetite!
Went with a friend for brunch. Theres a wait, so it might be worth calling ahead. We ordered the Ultimate Seaside Breakfast, and man was it. The catfish was fried and seasoned perfectly, the grits were fire, and even though Im not a fan of cream cheese, the scramble was amazing.5/5 will go back anytime.
This was my first time eating at this restaurant when I touched back down in Atlanta to visit family and friends. I must say that this food was amazing! I cant remember the name of the skillet dish I ordered, but it has scrambled eggs, potatoes, chicken sausage, shrimp, cheese, and a spicy sauce. The dish also came with a wheat biscuit and a homemade mixed berry jam, which it makes you want to slap your mama! It was so good and a really huge portion that 2 people can eat from. My bestie order a side catfish for us to split and try. OMG...very flavorful, crispy on the outside soft to the bite on the inside. Service was impeccable and the food came out with no delays. Highly recommend!
Great food! Nice menu and location. The grits are the best Ive had. The French Toast is AMAZING! The quality of the bread used to make it seems homemade. There is something for all appetites. And if you want something thats going to have your eyes closed while you eat it, try the smoked wings. Youll thank me later. As a FYI. THEY ARE A CASH ONLY establishment. However, there is an ATM located inside.
Excellent experience with joining the waitlist on Yelp. We were told when to check in and when we got to the restaurant, we were seated right away. The food was delicious and the portions are always large. Great service too. I love thumbs up. Always my gripe is the cash only policy, so I only come when I happen to have cash. Iβm not going out of my way or paying an atm fee to get cash for breakfast!
My good friend and I went here during our recent stay in Atlanta. We would talk to locals and Uber drivers who would make recommendations and three of the five we had recommended this place so we went. Food is yummy. Great southern hospitality and Shorty our server was sooo nice. Shes a sweetheart and really treated us non locals as if we were part of the community. Made for a a great experience. Prices were good, place was clean.
Thumbs Up Diner is a down home, neighborhood diner serving up classic fare with southern flair. The service is warm and friendly. The Skillet Heap with chopped veggie sausage was delicious and filling. Added bonus, they have sourdough toast. They are cash only, so bring bills or you can use the ATM they have in the back. This was my first time at Thumbs Up, but it will definitely be a haunt of mine.
We visited from Austin and stopped here on our way out. 5min drive from MLK memorial which is where we were beforehand. Delicious food. Recommend.FYI cash only!
Great place to have brunch very reasonable prices for big portions of food. The only thing I dont like much is the parking and that they only take cash. But other than than that I would recommend this place. I love the shrimp and grits meal and the omelet I had was so good.
I love Thumbs Up Diner. I come to Atlanta pretty often and this has definitely been my go to place on my last couple trips. Their fried catfish is divine. I highly recommend it. Also their blueberry jelly is amazing with a biscuit. Just make sure that you have cash because they donβt accept cards but they do have an ATM in the the restaurant.
This restaurant never ceases to amaze me! The food is delicious, cooked to perfection, its definitely authentic southern cooking. I highly recommend this location to anyone visiting the Atlanta area. You will not be disappointed. It is a breakfast restaurant but they serve lunch and dinner as well, and the prices are extremely affordable!
If I had my choice Id eat here once a week. The service is the best Ive had since Ive been here in Georgia. One of the services called me by my name after I was seated that was huge for me, and he pronounced it correctly. I was alone but ended up having conversation with the person sitting next to me, we ended up exchanging phone numbers... every time I go to this restaurant I have an amazing experience. I will most definitely be back and bring family members and Friends.
This is the best brunch food Ive had in awhile. The service was also great ams meals priced veey reasonably. You dont need to add nothing to the fried catfish its seasoned to perfection. Then those eggs with the smoked salmon, fresh herbs, and dollop of sour cream,OMG Ill never want eggs any other way again.
I went here today with my family. I only been here once before a very long time ago. Angelica was our server. She was very attentive & made sure we had everything we needed. The price & food was great. Iβll definitely be back.
Good food. great size portions. Very friendly staff.
My sister and me were visiting from Florida on Memorial Day weekend. The only reason Im giving them 4 starts is because we waited close to an hour to be seated. Other wise it would have been 5. We expected a wait due to it being a holiday weekend. The food was amazing!!! Real down home southern style breakfast. I got the 1 pork chop/1 catfish breakfast and it was wonderful. Both the fish and chop were perfection. Our server Marquez was funny and attentive. We didnt have to look for him and it was like he knew what we needed even before we asked. SERVICE WAS UNMATCHED! Food came out quick! Will surely be revisiting this spot when I return to Atlanta.
Very nice service gave a large tip because of it. The food was flawless. We had a wonderful time. Left full and happy. Will definitely go again when Im in town!
Very popular spot. Definitely worth the short wait. My eyes were bigger than my stomach
Food was pretty good. Really enjoyed the Collard greens and ribs. The Mac and cheese was a little dry. They had to remake my wifes Strawberry Margarita. Couldnt taste any strawberry flavor.
I always try to stop at thumbs up when I am in town. The staff and food are great. My wife and I used to go there a lot when we were dating many years ago. Brings back good memories.
Best catfish Ive had in a long while. Our waiter Rashad was really nice, food came out really fast and hot. The only draw back Is the cash only house rule which is a big inconvenience if you want to order more food to go but I understand the reason behind it after out waiter Rashad explained. Theres an 1Hr wait so make reservation online .
The restaurant, service, and food were great! Very nice staff, good portion size, reasonable prices. The two women who decided it was their right to accost me and my 14 year old daughter as we tried to leave simply because we did not ask them to move their vehicle so I could get my bike out of the bike parking area where they had blocked us in, after they sat and watched for 15 min as we got out a different way, were on par with the rest of Atlanta.
The food was amazing. The service was even better. Our waitress was warm and welcoming. Food came quickly and was fresh. So glad we didnβt eat hotel breakfast today. Oh and the catfish was perfect.
I went for breakfast and though the customer service was good my food was just ok. I bought shrimp and grits with pancakes and neither was as expected. The pancakes were hard to cut due to a hard outer layer with a thick mushy inside texture. The grits were not bad just not to my liking. This restaurant only accepts cash also, so be prepared before you come.
Another day another primo breakfast at Thumbs Up.Rashad is my server today...very easy on the eyes AND more importantly he was professional, accurate, very knowledgeable of the menu and personable.I am never disappointed. I had the Fried Pork Chops combined with the Ultimate Seafood Breakfast. One chop was fried and the other was grilled to perfection.I never leave without takeout also. This time I took the Smoked Chicken Wings...and that wonderful barbecue mustard sauce. Perfect for an afternoon nosh or guilty midnight snack.I am always well satisfied.
You cant lose with Thumbs Up Diner. I frequent the location in Edgewood. Its a locals favorite eatery with a full breakfast menu. Another one of my favorite brunch spots. The staff makes you feel at home and food will ensure your return. The food pricing is the best Ive seen in this area. It is a cash only Diner but they have an atm on sight.
The name says it all! There is nothing on the menu that Ive tried that I didnt like. The Fried Basa Catfish on the Ultimate Seaside breakfast is amazing. And the homemade jams are good enough to slap whoever made it. LOL!!!Thumbs Up for sure!!!
This is where me & the girls meet every month since retiring. Today was our first time back since covid struck last year. Always excellent food & service; & were always remembered by staff even after 1.5 years!
We were 2 for breakfast the wait was 45-60 mins. But it was ok we found a bench outside and talked the time away. Excellent customer service from all the workers thatβs rare these days. The food was simply amazing! Coffee was very hot and good. I had a turkey bacon and chicken sausage omelette with extra cheese. My friend had French toast huge slices of bread and turkey sausage. They have huge biscuits I saw them sailing by. I also had grits. Everything was excellent we stayed and talked we werenβt rushed out of there. Amazing time will be going back soon.
This was my first time eating here, and the food was great! I had the special with the pork chops, waffle and eggs... the atmosphere and vibe were great.. The servers were friendly and professional! The cooks did an amazing job on the food and getting it out! Will be back.. The only thing is there was no parking! It was hard to find parking.. Atlanta needs to do better on parking, this will cause a lot of restaurants to lose money.. no one wants to go where they cant find parking.
LOVE this place!! French toast is amazing, fish and grits are fabulous and my go to the skillet thingy hits the spot everytime! Customer service is always on point, everyone is always friendly and speedy. Just remember to bring cash since its a cash only but just in case they do have an ATM in the back. The most important thing to bring is your appetite since portions arent lacking in any way...ENJOY!!!
10/5 The food is incredible. Service is friendly. Not sure what else you could ask for.
The wait was long, very long!! The place is very small but it was cute. The food was okay, just not what I expected it to be. I believe the grits are made with milk, very sticky and thick. The chicken was dry and overly fried. The wheat biscuits were moist and delicious. The smoked chicken was also dry but the dry rub was good
Food is always fantastic here. If you are going during a busy time, be sure to send someone ahead to get your name on the waiting list. This location only takes cash, but they have an ATM.
I have been coming to Thumbs Up for the last 11 years Iβve lived in Atlanta. As Iβm sitting here waiting for my food, it literally just dawned on me that I have never written a review! This is hands down my favorite breakfast/brunch spot in Atlanta! Every time I have a friend or family member visit I always bring them here as part of their Atlanta experience. The food is amazing and the restaurant has that neighborhood cafe feel. The servers are knowledgeable and highly experienced, some of them Iβve seen since the very first time I came! I cannot day enough good things about this place, and I am extremely biased about this specific location. I have been to other Thumbs Up restaurants around the city and they didnβt measure up to the Edgewood location. This location consistently gives me the same high quality experience every time I come. They are cash only so remember to grab some cash before you come. If you should happen to forget, they do have an ATM on site. I know cash only can feel like an inconvenience but this helps keep the prices low so no griping about this please. As their motto states βRelax, itβs just eggsβ ππ€
I dont give 5 stars easily, I will say that first and foremost. I often can find one item to scrutinize or offer for improvement. With this place, I cant say thats the case. The only caveat I can offer, is that I havent tested consistency, as I have only visited once.I had the French toast, while others in my party had bacon, grits, eggs, etc. All was done exactly as ordered, and presented in a fantastic manner. Our server was polite, funny and seemed happy to be at work and happy with her job. Facility was clean, and the smells, even from the parking lot were fantastic. French toast was unique and worth a try. Will definitely come again.
Good food. Good service. But need to let people pay with a card.
I absolutely love the Wait Staff here. Friendly faces from the moment I walk in. Although it is a Cash Only Restaurant. The food and its portions are well worth every penny.
The food is great, the atmosphere is incredible, and the people are a must see and watch. Very entertaining!
Always good food and great service at a good price.
I have been to several of the Thumbs Up before and all were great but, this on in Edgewood was fantastic! The food, and service was outstanding! They were poised under the pressure of huge crowds and long lines and yet they were extremely professional. We will be back!!!
Last year while I was in Atlanta it was suggested that I stop and have breakfast here however I wasnt able to make it. This trip it was my first stop from the airport and Im so glad I did. The service was impeccable and the food was great. I tried the smoked turkey instead of doing a traditional bacon or sausage and it was yummy!
Great home and cozy vibe. Makes you feel at home. Great speedy service
Omg the food wass sooooo good. You gotta get the double dipped french toastβ€β€β€β€β€
Delicious food and awesome service. Our waitress Roe was great! The smoked wings are delicious!
Came here today to surprise my dad while he was in town for his bday but Im a pretty regular customer here anyway. I always get the same thing every time I come, porkchop, fish, grits and eggs. Today I decided to switch it up and get a pancake with strawberry and whipped cream. I should have paid attention to the price of that because that one pancake with toppings ran me about 6 bucks. My server was a bit slow but still a very friendly woman. She was patient with my crew as they took a while to order. The food was great, as always. Even that expensive pancake was good (it had better been). My dad is pretty picky and he enjoyed the food. My only complaint is that every time I come here there are always homeless people begging for money right outside the restaurant. Well still be back soon!
The Tuna sub, wrap and onion rings are delicious. Cant wait to visit LA again and try more dishes.
The food was sooo good. I was visiting ATL and decided to go here and Im glad I did.
My family took me to a great breakfast place. Kids had the Mickey mouse pancakesI had the French toast which came out with big slices of tasty Cinnamon and buttery flavor toast. Crispy on the outside and soft in the middle. One of the best things on the menu. I Highly recommendService is outstanding and the wait time went quick on a packed Sunday morning.
If ur in atlanta and need a greasy delicious breakfast after a long night or something wholesome before church. Visit thumbs up
A must-visit in Atlanta. Cash only so be prepared. Grab a brunch, drink an Uptown, and walk to the MLK Historical Park. You wont be disappointed.
Had the low Country Heap... Good and spicy. Could have cooked the sausage longer for me but still great.Never liked the cash only policy but I can live with it.
My breakfast was great. Shorty was an excellent waitress.
Good service and food was fresh and delicious. No long wait
This is Costa Rican Plate Vegan Style. They accommodated my needs. Squash soup is amazing, vegetarian sandwich is also delicious. Staffs are very very nice, I already miss seeing them as I went there almost every day while I was staying.
The food was good. Im particular about grits and they were good. The customer service was pretty good as well. Now it does depend on the server you get. The young, tall, dude need significant customer service training. He seems to believe he is the prize. All of the mature lady server are great and very helpful. Its the younger ones that seem angry they are at work.. Its been many years since Ive been. The food tastes much better than some visits a few years ago.
Service was a lil slow this time! Usuall they get a 4-5 Star rating from me, but not this time. It took a little while for the waitress to take our order, bring refills. At one point my friend went to the counter for a refill to go, because it was taking so long for her to come back with it. The food was great as usual!ππΎππΎ
Lovely diner. Excellent food, good people, feels like home. The fried fish and grits were exactly what I needed. Will be back soon.
We had a party of 5 at 2 on a Sunday. We waited for about an hour, which was to be expected, and it was well worth the wait. Everything we got was great: omelette (they are so generous with the cheese!), skillet heap (potatoes with eggs and whatever else you want to add to it) and the chicken and waffle. The chicken and waffle was amazing. Get the biscuit and put their homemade peach jam on it! They wouldnt let me buy the mug my coffee came in off them (dont vark too aard), so I just bought it off eBay! :) Our waitress was great--super efficient and fast. Also loved the art on the walls! Well be back for sure.
Food was great. service a little slow. probably short staffed.
In the 9 years I have been eating at the Edgewood location, never had a bad meal nor customer service experience! The cooks have been consistent and some of the wait staff are seasoned vets that know how to take care of their customers!
Good food. Excellent service with large crowd. A+.
Very cute little restaurant, it got very busy but their French toast was so yummy.
Visiting from out of state & met family for breakfast. So glad that we chose Thumbs Up!! The food was amazing & the staff was super friendly. Well definitely come back the next time were in town.
Delicious, but it can be packed. If its too packed j Christophers can be a great substitute.
Absolutely delicious. A+ for taste, A+ for presentation, A+ for service. Very impressed.
Great food, great service my go to breakfast spot after a 12 hour shift.
This was my first time ordering from this restaurant. Suggested through DoorDash to try something new and I am so glad that I did. The catfish is phenomenal, it was beautiful and the flavor was so good that you didnt need anything on it plus it was moist. OMG it was delicious. Definitely ordering again and going to the restaurant. Kiss the chef for me.
