The Hop is still our favorite go to spot for ice cream when we are in Asheville. The Hop offers a wide range of flavor options for dairy and dairy-free ice cream lovers alike. They also offer a wide range of gluten free flavors as well as a gluten free cone. Their homemade waffle cones and waffle bowls are amazing!Do yourself a favor and stop by one of their locations. You wont be disappointed!Pro-tip: Due to Covid, they arent offering samples at the moment.

So good, my first visit and I had honey lavender. Everyone in my large group enjoyed theirs too. There was a long line near closing time, it went pretty fast. The workers were working really hard and still had a pleasant attitude. Great experience, cant wait to come back.

Out of Townes looking for a neat local spot. Honestly, the ice cream was decent, but nothing special. They get you with the $1 per topping, which is not posted anywhere. Staff should have recommended going with the sundae options for the scoop instead of getting you for a few extra bucks. Not trying to nickel and dime, but $5 bucks for a bit of syrup and some hard @$$ gummy bears is a bit of a put off. First and last time here checking out this Asheville “classic”.

We ordered milkshakes, and they were very watery.. I ordered a deluxe one with some mix-ins, and they were all sitting on the bottom without being blended at all. I think the staff needs more training on how to make shakes. Im sure the ice cream would have been fine, had we ordered that.

Friendly people but terrible vegan ice cream. We got the vanilla bean crunch and the mint crunch. Both had no flavor (like drinking water would have been better), had a non-creamy, unpleasant consistency and we ended up just throwing them both out after a few bites. Im sorry to say it because we try to support local businesses that cater to vegans but it was really disappointing.

A must for great ice cream. They always have traditional flavors and then they will have some unusual ones as well. I try a different flavor each time we go. I have never been disappointed. This place is always busy, but the line usually moves quickly. They also have dairy free and gluten free options.

Cute little ice cream shop. They got a good selection of flavors and smoothies and floats. I tried a few flavors and they are on point. Would definitely recommend this place over those big name brands out there. You can see the homey feel. If your in the area do stop by and grab you a scope.

Really fresh and tasty ice cream and service. I got the mocha Oreo milkshake and it was smooth and flavor packed.The only thing I’m not crazy about is there is almost no room for line it was cramped and gave me anxiety. Some lines on the floor or one less table inside would help if they aren’t able to make more space.

The Hop is the best! Theyre my go-to ice cream place. They have a rotating ice cream selection with flavor combinations that youd never expect but are insanely delicious. Their vegan options rival or sometimes even surpass their extensive non-vegan selection. The only problem is that you might sometimes come across a flavor that you absolutely love, but they wont have it available the next time you come. Whatever you end up getting instead will alleviate any disappointment over the issue, though. The West location has a cute little enclosed patio in the back that stays mostly shaded during hot days, so if youre looking for a place to cool off while hanging out in West Asheville, this is it.

Best ice cream in the world is at The Hop and the staff is A1. One of the main things I pay attention to when I go into a business is how customers are treated and it helps me decide if I want to go back wether what Im buying has me satisfied or not. And I always go back because the employees are always smiling, super nice and making sure customers are satisfied.

This is high quality locally made ice cream. I havent tried many flavors so I cant speak on all of them, but the ice cream itself is very quality. I like the space and the staff is nice. Prices are reasonable.

We usually love this place!! But Friday evening we had bad vibes. The service was poor and the ice cream didnt seem to have as much flavor. My husband had the salted caramel (his usual) and said it was lackluster with toffee like chunks. I got the coconut mint and it also lacked flavor. Maybe it was an off night. Will definitely give it another try.

This place has a variety of creative vegan and dairy flavors. The salted caramel and coffee ice cream flavored with Splenda were delicious. So was the Cheerwine float. The servers were cordial, friendly and helpful -- even 30 minutes before closing.

I got the peach and strawberry flavored ice cream (regular dairy option). I felt that the strawberry was decent but the peach was tasteless. I enjoy trying different ice cream shops and making ice cream at home, so I was very disappointed.

Been here a couple of times, each time I’ve had the same experience, which has been enjoyable and fun. Lively atmosphere, many options when it comes to what the offer there customers. Greg and Ashley (the owners) were absolutely incredible helping put together a flair at our wedding reception that was one of the big hits with our guests. In addition, the staff The Hop brought to our event was incredibly kind and gracious. The ice cream (turned milkshake) was great and there was definitely service with a smile! I had family members that I know went back more than 5 times!Cant say enough great things about working with them. They are a great small business and the milkshakes were delicious. We recommend them wholeheartedly and look forward to visiting the store again as soon as we are back in the area.

Wait staff was nice/patient and had no trouble with us tasting several of the unusual flavors (kale/blueberry and basil blueberry) and vegan options made with cashew milk and other alternative milks. The chocolate and fresh mint option was really tasty. Highly recommended!

Ok how do you rate an original. Locally made, unique flavors make this a must try. I had the strawberry, basil, almond milk. It was remarkable. They let me taste several-- Cardamom banana cream, Beet, Toasted Coconut. All of them are delicious. Go to this place for unique frozen treats. Friendly service as well.

Its amazing what these guys come up with in terms of ice cream flavors. If you are looking for the classics go somewhere like Marble Slab but if you want exquisite and giant scoops upon scoops give it a try, you wont be disappointed.

The ice cream was good. Personally, I had the strawberry / basil. Everyone in my family commented on how much you could taste the basil, and thats exactly what I was looking for. But I think we were all looking for more unusual flavors like that. My wife and I, veterans of Jennis Ice Cream in Ohio, are used to seeing these types of unusual flavor combinations. Perhaps the real problem was a matter of expectation. I was expecting more of a Jennis Ice Cream experience, and what I got was a really great bowl of ice cream.

Love taking the kids here. The staff is always patient & friendly, & flavors are always new & interesting.
