This gift shop was such a pleasant find. The prices are very reasonable and you can find something for just about anyone you need to purchase an eclectic gift or if youre just looking for souvenirs to take home with you. It is a little cramped and there were rude people pushing their way through the tight aisle spaces, but the vibe and atmosphere of the shop was calming. The guy behind the counter was friendly, checked us out quickly, and was gentle with our items. Ill definitely go back again the next time Im in the area. If you need bumper stickers, mugs, shot glasses, postcards, 👕, sweaters, 🧢, kites, rings, bracelets, and even 🥓 cookers, this is the place to go. I thoroughly enjoyed browsing all of the items and couldve easily spent way more than the $110 I spent on this trip. I had to control myself. It was a little difficult to find parking in front of the shop, and the streets were extremely narrow, but we were able to find a place to park on the back side of the Emporium and just walked down the stairs and to the shop. It was maybe a 3-minute walk. Just keep that in mind if you plan to purchase a lot.
Lots of different trinkets and random items to look at which is cool. They also had a huge variety of stickers which I loved. I do wish they had more gift type items because they did advertise as a gift shop but still a great shop.
Beautiful city and downtown. Lots of good eateries, plenty of artistic stores and innumerable people on the road playing different kinds of music! Lovely experience just roaming on the streets!
Great shop with a lots of different shifts to choose from at reasonable prices!
Such a fun area.. everything you need all around..great eateries. Fun relaxed atmosphere
Love this store and the variety of unique things. Every time were in Asheville we make a point to stop in and pick something up.
Great store with fun products. NOT a Tshirt shop. Cool local products and great prices. Stop in if In Asheville. We did and scored.
It was a store full of artisan works. They had good deals.
Awesome store. Lots of unique Knick-knacks. Awesome selection of koozies!
By far the best local gift shop we went into on our trip to Asheville: one of a kind, fair trade, intentionally made, locally crafted, creatively inspired, unique, colorful, inventive, texture-rich! I got a long rainbow strand of pom -poms that I will use as a garland and play-toy for my two kitties AND best of all, my purchase goes to help fund a child’s schooling in an area of our world that is not as fortunate. It was great to meet the owner and know that I’m supporting a vision that is so global and compassionate.
This place was awesome, friendly staff. Cool stuff, beautiful art, we bought way more than we planned lol. Love the local vibe and the support for local artists.
Great merchandise and wonderful service.
The staff we’re great and friendly plus the location was simple and easy to find. They have a great selection of shirts and other sovereigns and other stuff to take home from your trip there.
Nice shop! Bought some great Asheville souvenirs and locally made items.
Great assortment and friendly customer service.
Show small businesses and save the quirkiness of Asheville! This shop is wonderful with unique gifts and souvenirs. Best of all, the owner is very nice and helpful in making sure you buy the perfect item.
This was a joy to visit, I learned how shirts get their designs, everything looked like it had a lot of effort put into it, the staff was friendly and polite, and it was fun to go overall, the stickers and Plague doctor string doll were very well made and very cute, I would give this more stars if I could!
Neat shop with lots of unique finds. Everyone was friendly and helpful
Lots of cute gifts for your average traveller.
The merchandise is cute, I got a nice ring I really love, but the cashier charged me for two rings and then blamed me for it, and rolled her eyes when I asked for her to change it. It was changed, but definitely soured the experience.
Update 9/12: I wrote this review two weeks ago. I emailed Heidi, Asheville Emporium Owner, and still no response. I feel as though I was profiled and this employee behavior seems acceptable. I urge you to visit the river arts district or numerous downtown shops where all dollars and customers are welcomed. l visited this shop for the ast time on Thursday, August 27th,2020. Why? Nurit (sp? )followed my partner and I around the store. I am a Nashville native who has been visiting Asheville for twenty years. For the past six years I have made it a point to purchase something from Asheville Emporium on my visits because of great selections and great customer service. It is unfortunate as a working professional that Nerit made assumptions about me. Meanwhile three other potential customers or thieves of a different race were allowed to browse the shop freely.
This is my first time here in Asheville and I’ve had an amazing experience with this store they not only greeted me but were very complimentary and helpful and made me feel very welcomed. Heidi was so sweet please visit this cute store I found some nice trinkets to take back home to give to my friends. I will be back soon to get more bracelets and rings.
I really love this shop. I found lots of wonderful gifts and the atmosphere was so welcoming and friendly. The music was so fun and I had a joy shopping there. Norit was very kind and helpful. Will definitely be coming back!
They have everything you could imagine
Great experience, had fun with the manager (curly blond) who walked me through the shop-showed me great items and souvenirs. Looking for a unique gift? This is the place.
My daughter and I went there today on our first visit to Asheville. And actually it was the first store we had gone in and we just loved it. What a beautiful store! Gorgeous jewelry, fun t-shirts and beautiful pottery. We will be back for sure! Please support small businesses, especially right now.
Awesome screen printed hoodie while I waited! 3 min and voila!! Great place!
Nice store, cool stuff
A unique gift shop with quality (Mainly women’s) clothing and fun items. Pretty Asheville shirts. Very clean bathroom available for customer use. Thank you!
Good customer service.
A great shop! Good selection of items and handled the Covid guidelines the best of any shop I visited in Asheville!
Not the best food!
Great little shop to purchase some of the local souvenirs!
This place is so inviting and the staff is so positive and upbeat...not to mention the great music...I danced all around the store while I shopped!! Great way to shop local-local vendors VERY represented😊😊😊
I just tried to shop Asheville Emporium..... Upon entering store While wearing a medically approved plastic shield over my face I was told that I cannot enter if I wasn’t wearing a mask .....Long story short..... we were asked to leave even though the girl at the store had no medical explanation why, and I even complied and put on the paper mask .....Have you ever thought that there maybe a medical reason why I cannot were cloth mask?
Wow! Something for everyone here! It is a gem of a store on quaint Wall Street. Packed with fair trade and local cool products. Their recently added resale boutique is my new favorite find in Asheville. Eat lunch at a nearby delicious restaurant like Early Girl or grab coffee next door at Trade & Lore and peruse away!
Definitely worth a stop! Very cute, different items! Loved this little shop!
Located on the prettiest street downtown, Asheville Emporium is a one-stop shop place of goodies, both locally-made, and internationally collected. Beautiful, clean, and inspiring, the shop is laid-out like an art loft, with niches featuring different products or themes. You can find many of Ashevilles favorite locally-made items, such as t-shirts with quirky images and quotes, jewelry, pottery and more. There are also items from abroad, selected for their meaningful origins or mission-driven business ethics. Enjoy this curated space, for visitors and locals alike!
The neatest little shop with lots of local and fair trade merchandise. I can always find something for a certain “hard to shop for” person when I check there. Be sure to walk all the way to the back; it just keeps going.
Cool little shop with local made souvenirs. Great local vibe. My wife loves coming in when we visit Asheville.
Visited the Asheville Emporium today while walking around downtown Asheville and found this lovely store with all kinds of fun treasures inside. Picked up a nice portable soy candle from Bright Endeavors and also some fun paste Solid Cologne The Gentleman after sampling the different scents. The person working in the shop was engaging and fun to talk with about the local area. A great place to stop by and browse and pick up a few fun items during a trip to Asheville. Enjoy!
Such a cool place. Has tons of unique things. I could have spent a couple hours there but had dinner reservations. I loved the inspirational items!
My roommates and I took a weekend trip to Asheville and came in here and found some super cute stickers and also the CUTEST shirt for my pitbull :) super friendly, dope stickers and products, and great prices !!
Must stop shop in downtown Asheville. It was open late so wandered in after dinner drawn in by good music and nice ambiance and delighted by the creativeness of multiple local artists. Everything was more affordable than I expected and it was an eclectic shopping experience. I could have happily spent way more money there and if I lived in Asheville it would be my number one spot to shop for gifts for loved ones.
This store just made me happy! So many unique and unusual things for gifts at a good price. Colorful and bright.Heidi went out of her way to welcome us to Nashville and give us lots of suggestions for restaurants and places to go. Wish we hadnt walked in so close to closing...but Ill be back.
I think this place is headed in a very worthwhile direction. I was expecting more but what they have done is incredibly well done. The feminist collection was startling, in that I grew up when a lot of what they display was current. It was stunning to look at it in retrospect and wonder how did we did we ever think any of it was OK. So for me, theyve done an amazing thing. The section devoted to African American history was equally impactful. I saw it in 2014 and am still haunted by some of it. particularly the recorded stories of freed slaves talking about their experiences. I cant say I am happy to know what I now know about it but it is good and right to know it and the folks who lived through it deserve that we know their stories. I think we owe it to them. So, many thanks to the curators of this museum.
It was quite an experience when we entered the shop. The welcome was friendly, warm and with focused attention. I was looking for a present for my daughter and we had entered already many shops and found nothing proper yet. In this shop I found exactly what I wanted. The resale clothing was perfect for my daughter and it was great to know the shirt and pullover were made by two local women .... in a green painted bus! My daughter loves to wear them and the quality is good. Thank you for this special experience, the warmth and this great initiative. With love from Holland!
This is a super cool shop. She even had a little play area under the tables so my toddler was entertained while I looked around. I really liked the variety of items and the prices were pretty good.
This store/museum was absolutely fantastic. I loved everything there. The art exhibits were insightful and intriguing. Not only was the art fantastic, but they are very accommodating as well. They made it very easy for me to view the art exhibition that was on display. I would recommend everyone to go there and see everything that they have to offer.
I totally enjoyed exploring this shop on a recent visit to Asheville. Heidi was knowledgeable about the goods I bought and very friendly. The pricing of items was reasonable with quite a range - from $5.00 on up. All the items I bought were Fair Trade, which is how I like to shop for gifts.
A beautiful, very thoughtfully curated, collection of items from around the world. A wide range of prices on items; it’s a great place to find gifts large and small. The Emporium showcases local artists and supports local causes. One of the very nicest stores of its type that I’ve ever been to.
Asheville Emporium is a store with authenticity, integrity.and mindfulness. Not only do they support local craftspersons and fair trade businesses, they also make supporting local non-profit organizations very important. The owner Heidi, shares with each purchase where it came from and who it is helping. Its a win win: I get a unique gift and I learn that my money is going to a great cause. I love this reciprocal relationship. Supporting local feels right and oh so good.
ASHEville Museum is a true treasure. They managed to pack many fascinating exhibits in a relatively small space without feeling cramped. The gift shop is full of a bunch of wonderful, ethically made, unique gifts at various price points. Also, admission is basically pay what you can which makes it financially accessible to anyone. The owner/manager (?) Heidi is a very kind wonderful person. This museum is definitely worth a visit.
Beautiful shop with lots of locally made pieces, souvenirs, and an amazing exhibit in the back. Also has beautiful gently used clothing available. Will make it a regular stop when I visit Asheville!
Very informative and inspiring, even as someone who feels enlightened to womens issues, I managed to learn a lot. Loved the 100 Years of Sexism in Advertising exhibit. My husband enjoyed the exhibits and it led to some great discussions in the days following out visit. Highly recommended! Love the sliding admission scale, we chose to pay $10 a piece.
This is such a cool store but the best part about it is that it’s owner is all about helping the community and empowering women. We had such a great chat with Heidi and learned a lot about Asheville in our visit. Definitely a must when you visit Asheville.
Adorable shop with grea stuff.I was headed out of town and realized I didnt pick up any souvenirs for my family and friends. I got stuff for them and found some amazing work by a local artist.
Fantastic museum! The exhibits were compelling, interesting and eye opening. There was something for everyone. The employees were beyond friendly and did a fantastic job of welcoming everyone in and letting them know it is an accessible and inclusive environment. Thank you aSHEville!
Such a great gift shop! My mom and I stopped in here while visiting Ashville for a wedding, Heidi working behind the counter was so sweet, helpful, and knowledgeable about the product in the store! Fair trade & so many hand made items! I would definitely recommend to anyone coming to the area.
Great store that plays a major role in the local community. Heidi the owner is fantastic to chat with. Definitely stop by this place.
This is a wonderful woman band museum itself guided and you pay anywhere from 5 to $15 as a donation. This place has a really awesome gift shop as well featuring only female artists and most of them are local artists as well.
When you go to the beach and you see those bright colored chain beach stores with the over priced generic souvenirs; well this place is essentially that. They didnt exactly have quality gifts but more gimmicks and cheap trinkets than anything else.
Such a cool, quirky store. Great service too!
Not your average “gift” shop. Unique and cool items. Definitely not kitschy. Worth a stop.
Amazing shop that highlights lical artistic work. I really thought it was a beautiful treat.
Great selection of souvenirs and local artist items
Wonderful collection, both museum exhibits and gifts. Friendly and enthusiastic staff, great prices, and uplifting energy. Highly recommend all to visit!
The museum is wonderful and informative. The gift shop has wonderful local gifts. A great experience and would recommend to all!
I enjoyed my visit. The exhibits were interesting. They mostly focused on matters of social justice and race/sex equality. The staff were friendly and courteous. Entrance is free. If youre wandering through Asheville, check this place out!
Had some nice items but I was expecting more variety.
Local Friends! If you are in Asheville this weekend doing some shopping, this is the shop for you to check out. They have some of the coolest gift ideas and large selection of products made by women from right here in our area (and from around the world) for everyone on your list! Heidi has also put together a wonderful exhibit for the museum that you all need to check out. Finally, a place in the business world that lifts women up, supports them, and nurtures them! I LOVE THIS SHOP!
Great place to find all kinds of very distinct, unusual and lovely items to purchase that benifits so many worthwhile causes. These are mostly handmade products from local to distant lands. The museum is very interesting and well done. Well worth a look.
Friendly staff and a great variety of items to choose from.
Clean and a lot of selections
This place is so cool! Take a Rosie the Riveter picture and learn about all the amazing women who have won the Nobel Peace Prize. Super cute shop, too!
Long overdue review....Very compelling information. Eye opening exhibits...Plus, the folks there are very helpful with guidance on so many matters. Highly recommended. Make sure you also walk around on Wall St in Asheville it isnot to be missed either!
Great store and we had the chance to sit down and make a cute pair of earrings with Felicity! Great for lazy Sunday afternoon shopping.
What a find! A unique and important collection of womens art, artifacts and information. The gift shop is also a treasure trove of gems made by women and supporting womens causes.
So many items to pick from cute little shop. Employees were Friendly
Loved all the cool stuff and gift ideas there!
Nice stuff, but pricey.
Super cute shop with lots of creative and ethical suppliers, as well as a thrift shop
Neat store. Lots of interesting items, clothes, and art.
A downtown gem. Lots of information, a great selection of items for purchase, and friendly service. The admission is a sliding scale of $5-$15. Children under 12 are free.
Got some awesome Christmas gifts for friends & family.
Very nice place.
Came in with my my wife and 4 kids. Lady behind the counter rudely interrupted my wife as she was talking to me and later on made a face at her as she was saying something to me. As I left I commented maybe if you didnt make faces at customers you would have more and she chased me out the door and down the sidewalk. I would avoid this place at all costs if you want to be treated with any decency.
Coming back soon for gifts - theres something for everyone
Expected this to be touristy but I walked out with a full bag of awesome stuff. Really cool store with a friendly staff.
Fun spot with awesome fair trade and local gifts, photo booth, and beautiful art!!
Not your average gift shop - tons of unique and locally made items. Owner was very kind and helpful.
