This is the one coffee place in Anchorage that my wife and I enjoyed. We usually bounced between this location and the OMalley location. The 6th Ave location, is very nice and well laid out. I will warn that some of the homeless or drug addicts will sometimes come in and harrass or be right outside as the location is next to the town square park. However, with that exception the location is a great spot to hangout or even go study up on the second floor. The coffee is wonderful and pastries are also tasty.
Good. Oat milk was not great but friendly and espresso smooth.
Love the coffee location was very good and staff was very good and friendly.
Wonderful funky and casual little coffee spot. I like non-chain coffee shops a lot and this one did not disappoint. A great place to go and get some work done on the laptop while enjoying a delicious coffee beverage.
Love their coffee, location, urban setting and atmosphere. Had a great meeting and the coffee was delicious! Thank you so much!
I ordered an Alaska chai tea and it was delicious and warm
Refused to serve me because I wanted to buy a homeless man coffee. I was treated poorly by staff and later by owner.Great place to hang out if you’re homeless but not to study or meet with friends
Open! You can drink coffee here too. No ridiculous covid closure
Had a great experience with my wife and kiddo here. Lots of seating, great coffee (although no Nicaraguan which is my favorite coffee producer), 50% off after 4pm on baked goods, extremely friendly staff and the prices were lower than expected. Please dont raise the prices now that Ive said that!
Went in for some tea. Also had a fabulous seasalt chocolate chip cookie. So much chocolate goodness with sea salt
This is a beautiful space with excellent service. If they would bring in a slow bar, that would be super, but as it stands, they make a great cup and use their own roasted beans. I really enjoy their Equinox blend.
Used to love their hot chocolate when they first opened, but several years ago they changed the recipe without warning. Now its bland and watery. I thought it was a fluke but have tried three other times and in various locations around town and its always the same. Not good.
Standard cold brew is pretty delicious.I tried the nitro cold brew and didnt like it. Normally love nitro cold brew, but I was disappointed.Plenty of seating options and the folks working there are pleasant.Lots of options for drinks, you even have access to the rooftop. Nice place, I would recommend checking it out.
Cool coffee shop in downtown Anchorage. When we got there the shop was closing but the barista was nice enough to make us 2 coffees. They all tasted really well, especially my hazelnut latte.
Nice staff they take time to add the extra touch. The place is clean and comfortable. Two floors. Well done
Highly Recommended - the finest coffee shop in anchorage - drinks are awesome, and the environment is top notch. Beautiful wooded tables and sleek modern decor. Also... two floors!
Great coffee. great spot. i heard a barista call out for someone, your reindeer sausage breakfast burrito is ready! wha what?! i guess i have to go back for breakfast 😋
Finally, a proper coffee shop in downtown Anchorage. Authentic Italian cappuccinos, simple baked goods, fair prices. Not for Starbucks coffee drinkers, for those looking for something better. Enjoy!
Excellent coffee served European style. Please dont get coffee to go in a paper cup but get your coffee to stay and enjoy excellent coffee in a real mug.
Good place to get warm. Great coffee, great service. It is a coffee shop that has that home town soda counter feel. Go for the pumpkin muffins...SOOOOOO GOOD.
Best coffee in town. For a more private place to meet with someone, get your coffee and head up stairs. Couches and a great place to study or more private conversations.
This is perhaps the most spacious cafe in Anchorage! The staff were super friendly esp. the blond Serbian dude. The epitome of outstanding customer service!!
On our last day in Alaska, we are lucky to find this place to kill some spare time. Very spacious, friendly stuff, nice lounge area on the second floor with industrial interior design reminds me Williamsburg. Love the sea salt chocolate chip!
Best quality coffee option in town! The baristas here are highly trained and knowledgeable in their craft. Not your every day high school student making mediocre espresso here. Only the best.
Very good coffee and cookies. A bit cold inside in the winter
The hot chocolate just tasted like plain milk, had to wait for 10 minutes to get two drinks, the employee was not kind, the mocha did not have enough hot chocolate powder so it just tasted like espresso. Out of all the steam dots I’ve been to this has been the worst
Rude service Everytime I have tried going in here. I dont care about hipster coffee shops and if you just want a regular coffee they treat you like a lost tip. Also, last time I was in there every table and the bathroom were filthy.
I really like the idea of this place, but...Every time I come here it’s a mess behind the bar. The baristas seem stressed when the cafe is practically empty. And it takes way to long to make simple drinks...(espresso, hot chocolate, etc)This is not a one time deal, I have been here many many times because of location.I have never had a pleasant experience. It’s a shame, the baristas have some great equipment to work with!
Food was great! I had the charcuterie appetizer and taco plate. The server was awesome! Loved the ambience!!
I wasnt very impressed with this place at all, so much that I didnt bother finishing my drink. There was a weird aftertaste in my steamer that made the drink just not taste right. Theres no public restroom, and the only good thing about it from my first time there was its atmosphere and friendly staff. I wont go out of my way to go back there, but if its on your way and youre downtown, theres no harm in checking it out for yourself.
Great ambience, especially upstairs. I like the way they brew the coffee á la single drip. Great tasting coffee with robust flavors.
Neat coffee shop with excellent and ambiance.
Wonderful coffee creations served by skilled and attentive staff.
Steamdot is the best coffee in Anchorage!! I typically use the midtown location but this location is just as great and always has fantastic service.
Great coffee, satisfying snacks, good seating options.
Good food and coffee, unfortunately I cant come here often because I just spent $4.75 on a London fog.
SteamDot serves my favorite coffee and espresso on town. All locations in Anchorage are great!
Quick great tasting coffee. And their snacks are exceptionally tasty!
First thing I noticed is it smelled like stale beer. The coffee was thin and watery and no butter or cream cheese for the muffin ordered . The tables were sticky and wobbled .Consider other options .
1 Italian soda took 2 people and 3 tries to make a simple drink. Gave it to me and laughed as of I was about to drink trash. And thats what I did. I took one sip and it tasted like I just drank straight from a heavy whipped cream carton. I threw it away in the trashbin across the street. Waste of money. Yea I could have gone back to complain ask for another that had more liquid than cream. Whats the point if they took 3 times to make this one drink?!?!
Does a great latte and has good cinnamon rolls.
Best. Thank you for understanding coffee. Bless you.
Super chic coffee place with delicious, soul soothing drinks. Wonderful environment in downtown Anchorage!
Absolutely amazing coffee! At SteamDot coffee is an artform. You will taste it with every sip!
A great Chai Tea Latte: one of the best ever.
Solid service and good coffee. Theyre great at remembering regulars and your drink orders.
Steam Dot is a fantastic balance between a relaxing setting and excellently brewed coffee
Place like Europe caffe. Original espreso, good servise, Music and restroom.
Great stop. Very good coffee ☕.
Great coffee and great customer service.
We had good coffee and service
Steamdot is like the Starbucks of Anchorage, but ten times better -- and ten times less corporate.
The coffee is fantastic and the cookies make a good pairing if you want something sweet.
If I could give negative stars I would. My uncle ordered a vanilla latte and we waited for over 30 minutes because they forgot his order. When reminded of his order we still had to wait another 15 minutes because this was social hour for the workers and we were a major interruption. Tried to make a complaint and baristas told us to get out and were not allowed back...
. Coffee was weak and milk sour. Chose steamdot because it was open at 8am Sunday and 0.4 stars more than Kaladi. HmmmYou expect more from a coffee house that just does coffee. The space is nice but the chairs are not comfortable.
Great coffee, morning cinnamon roll, and sunny open modern ambiance.
Great coffee. Great atmosphere. Great service. Great.
Delicious coffee, friendly staff.
Why is it rush hour for coffee @ 8:06 am w/ a line and only one slow person working? This is why nobody comes here......
I walked into steam dot to buy a sandwich and coffee for a hungry elder and was not greeted in fact I was ignored all together when I finally got someones attention I felt they only served me to get us to leave. The whole time I was there the woman working kept looking in our direction with what looked like discussed on her face. It was difficult to get any service at all if the elder gentleman I was with could have walked to a different place so I could buy him food I would not have stayed. A gentleman told me that he would not sell me a gift card for that elder because he does not want to discourage others from coming to his establishment. He claimed the elder had defiled his restroom before and he would not serve him again. He only said that when the gentleman I was with sat down away from ear shot making me mistrust him statements. When other customers entered they were greeted and someone was right there to help them. I feel disrespected and I believe that we were treated unfairly.
October 2018 Update:It makes me so sad to bump this review down to 1 star. This is for the downtown location only. So its Monday morning-- 7:45 and theres only one 1 barista. The credit card system is down. Im a regular customer, and shes prepared to turn me away without coffee because I dont have cash on me. Thankfully, my friend spots me the cash. I ordered a breve and my friend ordered a hot chocolate. My breve was okay-- the foam was over and tasted off. My friends hot chocolate was just steamed milk. Weve gotten this same order hundreds of times and never had hot chocolate come out as steamed milk. We went back to our office, stirred the hot chocolate, and nothing. No brown color to demonstrate the chocolately goodness. Just steamed milk. So we went back to Steam Dot where we had to wait through a long line of other customers, and the barista insists she put ganache in the hot chocolate. My friend shows her that the hot chocolate is white as if theres no chocolate. The barista offers to add vanilla syrup to it. My friend ended up asking for a refund because the barista refused to believe that there was anything wrong with the hot chocolate. All told, it took us over 20 minutes to get our morning coffee when its normally less than 5 minutes.Previous 5-star Review still applies to all other Steam Dot locations:I love Steam Dots coffee! Its not super bitter like Starbucks, and there are enough baristas that theres never a line out the door like nearby coffee shops. It takes less than 5 minutes to get coffee-- even fancy espresso drinks. I also like that they have local artists showcase new art every few weeks.
A decent cup of coffee and a warm space to hang. Service isnt great.
Wonderful food! Pricey and slow but worth it.
Terrible coffee. I dumped it all out it was so disgusting. I wish that I’d had the time to return it.
Loved Steam Dot my first couple of times there several months ago, the male barista made a fantastic mocha & used a nice ceramic mug, not the paper cups many places use. He was really nice to talk to & knew what he was doing. Also you can actually have a pleasant time in your wonderful space, easy to have a conversation as music not too loud etc. Unfortunately the last time I was there about 3 weeks ago there were a young male & female barista, (on a Saturday) & my drink was served lukewarm in a paper cup, Im guessing they werent into washing mugs. When I went up to let the barista know that the drink was lukewarm he said that was how the machine was set & that was how the drinks were supposed to be served. It doesnt need to be super hot but lukewarm? He didnt offer a solution so I asked if he could heat it up in the microwave which he grudgingly did. It still wasnt hot after that. My friends drink was also lukewarm. Very disappointed in what was such a great place. If I ever return & saw the same baristas Id walk back out...Please make sure the baristas know the rudiments of customer service & how to make a drink? (The first barista we encountered was a tall guy who was doing this before returning to law school?) He was awesome!
Best coffee Ive had in a long time! 10/10
Excellent coffee and hip atmosphere in downtown Anchorage. Plenty of seating on two floors.
Always a good place to go get tea
Comfortable place with great coffee!

Not to bad
Only two shots in a large coffee and the milk in the cap tasted bad but really nice workers
Great espresso and a comfortable atmosphere
Best coffee I have had in the US
Had to select something to comment and five wasn’t appropriate. Please update your store hours on google. Showed up at 8:20 on a Sunday and the place was closed. Hours show you opening at 8.
Excellent coffee.
You close way too early. Dislike!
Great coffee.
Good Mochas
Great mocha!
Great coffee!
