I thought I had a dead battery. A nice guy came out and was very helpful. Only complaint was that they said it would take 30 minutes to get to me but it was more like an hour.

I believe that Mark is a pretty honest guy. As he will tell you they only look into what you ask them to, not going looking for problems. Ive been here many times and would recommend them to anyone who needs car repairs.

Reasonable rates, tell us what is wrong and help us get it fixed. Answer our questions without making us feel incompetent. It would be nice if they would be a little more communicative over the phone in terms of how long things will take and what you can expect. Overall a good experience.

I want to give this a 4.5. Used to go to this place for everything, but the most recent repair (brakes...) failed the day I got it back and could have been tragic. They did give me a refund, and its an isolated incident. It could have been an unpredictable parts failure, too, which seems statistically likely, since theyve repaired my car several times. I would still recommend them for any auto repair.

Mark Hansen’s automotive is the most honest shop in Ames. If your car doesn’t need a part, they won’t add it. Plan and simple. They are good about telling you a time span on how long repairs will take. Next time something goes wrong give them a try.

My van broke down on my nephew while he was moving recently. After he called around to no avail—a gentleman named Jay was willing to help him out. Everyone here is wonderful, especially Jay. Besides basic maintenance, we have purchased two cars here over the last 10 years - a 1996 Cadillac and a 2009 Chevy. Best cars we ever had. Very honest!

Good place to get your car worked on

I had been to 3 shops prior and all of which were telling me i had a bad alternator, even though i had just gotten it replaced. I went to Mark Hansen’s because of how scheduling worked out at the other places and with me, and they were able to figure out it wasnt my alternator at all but rather loose connections and some wiring issues. Their honesty and thorough inspection saved me $500!

Honest and fair in their business dealings with customers. Easy to get in and out. Just wish they had loaner cars.

I was not pleased with the service I received here. I was quoted an estimate over the phone and charged a different price when I went to pick it up. Their board of pricing is not up to date and I have yet to receive the call from the manager about these issues I encountered bout a month ago.
