I moved into the area six months ago and was looking for a reliable place to do a tire alignment. The reviews of this place were mostly looking all good and I have to definitely agree with them after my experience there today. The Lady at the counter was nice and professional. John the Manager came out at the end and explained the issue.They are Honest and Hard Working and definitely a place to take your car for service. I also received a good discount. Only small thing was that I had to wait a bit longer but I know they are very busy so I didnt mind.Definitely a Five Star Experience.

I brought my 2004 Dodge Grand Caravan for no a/c diagnosis. They were good in identifying the problem and there was no charge until problem is fixed. They were honest and did the diagnosis fairly quickly. I havent got my a/c fixed however as 8-hour labor (~$1,000) is expensive to replace a $30 evaporator temperature sensor that requires removal of the whole dashboard.

Staff was super friendly. John was incredibly nice and showed me exactly was going on with my car. Repaired in a timely manner and overall a great experience. Definitely going back for general maintenance!

I called my local dealership for my muffler issue. They told me a week to wait and an extremely high price. I called merlin they got me in that SAME day done out the door at HALF the cost!

Waited 2 hours for them to tell me they wont patch my tire cause they cant. But they can sell me a new tire for $170. Went down the road to get my tire patched for $25. No problems so far. Wont come back here for my new tire for sure. Will probably go to discount tires where you dont wait 2 hours.

I was hesitant to bring my car to this place as I have been robbed by a similar business. A few months ago I brought in my SUV for an alignment after i had replaced the suspension. When I picked it up the manager notified me that there was no charge because the alignment was perfect. My mouth dropped as I could not believe the honesty and professionalism. I promised to bring back my other car.Fast forward to today, I brought in my sports car to have an oil change and noticed the last guy that did my new suspension did not do a good job. This shop took a look, took off the part that was not installed correctly, corrected it and did an alignment, changed the oil and even cleared a check engine light. All this and even let me use some coupons I had.They just won a customer. Great job and thanks for everything!!You should give these guys a shot.

Went to get sytem charged was told the condeser was craked b.s. was told needed a new compressor wich would be around 650$Took it somewhere else there was no crack.Used Merlins often. NEVER WILL AGAIN.

Took my 2014, 80,000 mile car in for a check engine light, told me they had to preform a smoke test, $100.00 just to look at it. Came back with a $2,200 estimate for repair. Took it for a second opinion. A trusted mechanic checked it free of charge. Turned out to be a $20.00 gas cap. Very disappointed in the dishonesty. Be warned.

You wont find a better mechanic with the entire understanding of the scope of what needs repair or replacement and what doesnt. Will is the( I GOT A GUY ). His abundant, knowledge, experience and customer service OUTSTANDING. The value of having a technician of this caliber price less. Will has been fixture at this Merlins location for many years. The Owner Operator on hand on involvement provides consinstant very high quality customer experience. Ive had A/C, Brakes, Exhaust, Wheel Alignments,Tires and Sensors repairs or replacement. All replacement parts are of the highest quality.

I use to go to elgin location multiple times & everytime I had oil change I always have a leaking oil in my garage & drive way. I decided to go to this location & told them about my issue from different location & they promised that they will avoid the same mistake. Guess what?!? Its a lie & I had the same issue so I decided to never ever go to any merlin location.

If you go anywhere for work to be done on your car go with John and his team at Merlin. They went above and beyond for me. My car basically needed all new breaks, front and rear, and they fixed my car up and then some. They’re so nice, more than fair with pricing and work fast.

John was very empathetic towards our emergency situation and repairs. I felt like I could finally trust a repair shop because of his outstanding follow up and customer service. Ask for John.

I made an appointment on line, although not necessary, Merlin was ready for me upon arrival. This family owned business contains a staff of experts with non only a friendly smile and attitude, but at this time of life, tape on the floor for social distancing! The immaculately clean bathroom speaks volumes of the social conscientiousness they put forth - you could also sit outside as the weather gets better! The Staff routinely looks over your car to make sure there isnt something glaringly wrong, and as in my recent oil / filter / tire rotation visit, they noticed I had a brake issue that requires watching - its that kind of heads up that can save lives. The pricing ( different service coupons exist on line ) just blows away all the others, especially the company that has the word lube in their name! lol Most services you can relax inside, or walk over to Jewel next and do some grocery shopping. I go in there for an alignment as well as a brake job. They said they would give me a call when they come up with what is needed to be done. Sounds good, I get a call about 20 minutes later saying this is going bad, thats going bad, your brakes on front are fine but rotors arent, your back brakes are at 20%, and so on and so on. And out the door your looking at $2900+, would you want us to start it up? No, Im a college student and dont have $3000 to just drop on equipment. Well if we just do the brakes and rotors your looking at out the door $1300 Then I was offered to get their credit card to cover the cost and they would deduct $100 from the total, oh wow! You would deduct $100 from the total thats so kind, but almost 55% of the bill was labor. Went and got a second opinion and even a third. Both the other opinions said it wasnt a necessity to do certain things right away but it was encouraged which I could deal with. But Merlin said I couldnt get anything done without the big stuff.Thank you for such an eye opening experience. Trying to take full advantage of people walking in. Hope it this helps the next customer reconsider Merlin.

Ron is the best!

No stars for these crooks but I had to give them one to post this. Not only did they quote work that was not requested, at ridiculous rates compared to two other local mechanics, they charge me $150.00 to get my car out of their shop!!! That was for an hours worth of work from one mechanic. Did he have an attorney do this! It was worth the money to rid myself of these robbers.

Revised: Went back shortly after my breaks were done to have ball joints and upper control arms fixed. They tried to charge me 1800 dollars. Found a shop that charged 1000 dollars less.

Weve been taking our cars here for the last six years. Big repairs, small repairs, extended warranty repairs - weve had it all. Ron and Anthony have been nothing but spectacular with us every time. They are more than fair on pricing (lets face it, fixing a car is expensive and no one wants to hear youve got a $4,500 repair!), the work is done in a timely manner and ready when promised, and its always done right the first time. One of our vehicles has an aftermarket extended warranty; each repair requires a LOT of phone time to get approval. Anthony has been just fantastic with this; he has the patience of Job and always goes the extra mile to do as much as he can for us. We cannot recommend this shop enough!

Was so refreshing to find a HONEST car repair place. I handed them my girlfriends car saying to check out the breaks and tires. She was convinced she needed NEW tires. They came back to me saying the tires were barely half used and only the back breaks needed repair. They recommended a transmission flush also. They could have charged me for tires all new breaks, etc and I was ready to accept. They have won my business going forward. They were also nice enough to let me borrow their run around truck while they worked on the car. Great great place......and I rarely say that about a car repair shop.

If I could give this place no stars I would. I took my car in about 2 month ago for an oil change and since leaving my oil light will not turn off and now my check engine light is on. I brought it back and the guys took me out in the shop and insisted everything was fine. I then took my car to a tech and when he checked the oil filter they put in... THERE IS A PIECE MISSING. MY OIL FILTER WAS JUST SITTING INSIDE THE HOUSING... THEY ALSO OVERFILLED MY ENGINE WITH OIL. 2 months my car has been running with a hardly functional oil filter because they told me nothing was wrong!! I WILL NEVER TAKE MY CAR BACK HERE THESE PEOPLE CANT EVEN CHANGE OIL CORRECTLY OR BE ACCOUNTALBE FOR THEIR MISTAKES!! HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERCIVE AND CAUSED THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS OF DAMAGE TO MY ENGINE!!! DONT BRING YOUR CAR HERE EVER!!

The Algonquin Merlin Shop, made my day. This weekend I was planning on replacing my front brake pads and discs. Couple hour home garage job easy... Until you find out that your lower caliper bracket bolts (17mm on my Subie) are seized up. No amount of penetrating oil, my cordless impact wrench, and swearing would bust them loose. Monday morning I called Merlin and they were more than happy to have me bring the car in to help me out. I called around 9 am to see if theyd be able to sneak me in and by 10:30 they were calling me back letting me know that theyd gotten the bolts loose and I was all set to continue with my project.To top it off since for a shop it was an easy job they didnt even charge me for the labor. This Merlin shop has definitely won a customer for life! They seem very Subaru friendly and Jeff is the man.

I went here for oil change and tire rotation I was in fast and the service manager John and crew didn’t try to up sell me on anything. I highly recommend and will be back in the future.

The manager Ron is very arrogant and rude . I brought my car in for an oil change and check up and he rudely commented on the state of my vehicle ... As I was following up with the technician he walked into the garage and laughed as he handed over the list of things he thought was wrong with my vehicle. I brought my car to a real mechanic and most of the things were in accurate. BEWARE!!!!!

I love these guys, they always find ways to save you money and do a good job. I had an older car and didnt want to spend the $300 for an OEM trans line, they used their flair tool and made a line for me for 1/4 of the price of the OEM.Nice guys and they do a great job - I recommend this shop.

These people should not be in business, went there for a coolant leak and these crazy crooks quoted me $1850, for the repair, and keep in mind my vehicle is 4 years old. Told them to kiss my ass and took it down the road to Algonquin auto clinic and was quoted $308 for a water pump on a 2012 chevy Cruze. DO NOT DO GO THEREI really should have read reviews before I went there, I hope I can spare anyone for the hell they put me through! Really disappointed!

Was in the waiting room when a gentleman who had an alignment done last weekend came in complaining that his steering wheel is still off center. The manager told him bring it back in and well fix it again.

They are a rip off and charge more than a dealer. Do not come here!!
