I have not heard of this place. I have to be honest. I went here by accident, but it was a real treat. My goodness. Sometimes spontaneity is the special ingredient to great food. The food was different in a good way and very filling. The prices are very reasonable. The customer service was great. The wait time for the food was not long at all. I will definitely go there again.Theres parking in a garage nearby the establishment, so its a good area to be at.

This location is wonderful! I order delivery to where I work in Old Town, and the order is always correct and delivered quickly! I really appreciate how reliable the staff is, thank you all for being so great!

The service was friendly and timely. Loved the pizza and prices were reasonable. A couple of suggestions: 1) The menu could be cut down by a third at least. 2) they have huge TV and it could be a great spot for 🏈, but they dont have Sunday ticket !

I ordered the groovy dog and it was deliciousI loved the atmosphere and the waiter was extremely kind. My niece ordered the good dog a la mode and was a nice finishing touch. And the fact the money they receive from sales of their tshirts go to rescuing dogs. You cannot go wrong here.

Great sandwiches and diverse beer selectionEdit: Have been a regular but went by today and was really disappointed by staff who clearly would rather be elsewhere. Service was so poor I was concerned for the quality of the food. Left before ordering and took business elsewhere. I empathize with hiring issues restaurants are facing right now and do not edit my review of a small business lightly. But at some point closing down when short staffed is going to do less damage to your business than having a team that can’t deliver a minimal level of service.

Fast service and very friendly and helpful staff. The pizza was pretty tasty, more on the floury dough side. My daughter wolfed down 3 slices without blinking.

Some of the BEST VEGAN PIZZA EVER. I couldn’t believe the extensive toppings selection and was so grateful for vegan cheese. Can’t wait to go back!!! The beer selection is amazing too!! Thanks for a great birthday lunch!!

Oh my WORD! The food was delicious! Who orders lasagna at a deli? This girl. Im so glad I did, because it was amazing! The perfect amount of sauce, cheese, everything. I got the spinach variety. My husband loved his gyro, too. I had quite a bit left over.

- staff was friendly- place was clean- service was quick- food had good flavor and seemed like fresh ingredients- food was made a bit sloppy and seems like we got more vegetables then anything- onion rings were not that great, very soggy though- inside was nice and a decent size- overall not bad, will try them again and order something different

I have been here twice now and can’t wait to go back! I was working at Charles Houston Rec and came across Lost Dog Cafe and tried the Carolina Dog for my first sandwich. It was soooo good! I loved the pulled pork with the bacon. Today was my second time coming and I got the surf and turf.The surf and turf was good however, i feel like it was missing something but I don’t really know what, the crab was a little extra fishy tasting and I know it’s fish but maybe could’ve had more saucyness lol. Overall I love this place and I have to come dine in one day with my friends! I can’t wait to try more sandwiches!

This was a great find in North Old Town!! I was skeptical at first because the website does not truly depict the size of the menu. I was afraid we would be buying deli sandwiches and cans of beer from the market. However they have a very nice bar and dining area. Hope was great at recommending beers and sandwiches after asking a couple questions about our tastes. She was spot on!! They have a wide variety of beers on tap and almost 5 pages of food on the menu. I will definitely be going back fairly regularly.

Have been here a ton of times, ordered takeout a bunch too, finally realized...the sandwiches are not that great. the staff is super friendly...they have a great beer selection...and I want to love the sandwiches...theyre just not good.

It was okay. The slaw wasn’t what I expected and I’m pregnant so I was pretty upset after paying almost $40 for two hot dog meals and then realizing they didn’t give my husband and I our fries. First timer and may or may not return

The pizza is ok but the sandwiches and beer selection is great. To be fair I am very particular about pizza. I eat there once a week and the staff are great as is the quality of the food. Definitely recommend

Lost dog is such a great place to eat! The staff is always great. The only down side is the menu is so large and everything tastes so good. The beer menu is also very extensive and they do to go beer. Dog friendly out on the patio and supporting your local dog shelters!

Loved the vibe and decor. Food was fabulous! And staff was very patient with a group of besties out for girls weekend whi were indecisive and distracted. You will probably have to deal with us again next year, as Alexandria is an annual trip for us!

Amazing service, people and food. Ordered from Uber eats (not knowing they delivered to our area, time saver for future). Half our order was missing, we called the Uber driver who said she was only given one bag, we call Lost Dog and explained to them the situation. They were 100% sure they had given the driver the entire order, but they were willing to make it right in whatever they could and get our order expidedited to us. However, turned out the driver was wrong and whilst still on the phone with Lost Dog, she delivered the rest of our order saying the name wasnt on the bag (it was, and stapled to it no less). So no need for expedited service from Lost Dog tonight, but their willingness to go above and beyond was awesome. We will continue to be loyal customers.

The service here is always great, its very kid-friendly, and the food used to be phenomenal, but during the pandemic they limited menu options and changed their bread and pizza crusts and its just not the same--the pizza is soggy now and they changed their best sandwich, the el paso pup. I hope they eventually bring back the old menu and recipes as we do love it there.

Great place to come and have a good cold draft beer. Gotta tell you, the draft 🍺 list is big and will have to come multiple times to try new beers. The best part it changes continuesly. As for the food, amazing pizzas and sandwiches. I give a 4 only because individual size 🍕 are little expensive compare to other places. However satisfaction is guaranteed in Lost Dog Cafe!

Wow. This is my favorite spot that I have eaten at in Alexandria. Great beer menu, extensive food menu, hospitable staff, clean restaurant AND they have a dog rescue mission. This place was absolutely outstanding. I couldn’t decide on what retail to buy myself; and I wanted all of it. Please don’t skip this spot. It’s amazing :) I plan to visit very frequently. That turkey rueben!

A great little spot on a busy road. Staff was friendly and knowledgeable. Dont be fooled by its location on Rt 1. The interior is new and clean. There are tables outside in the back. I didnt try the food this time but it looks promising. Definitely worth going again.

Awful pizza and service! Do yourself a favor and do not order at this location. The GM is extremely rude to the customers and treats the staff horribly. Spend your time and money at businesses that treat their staff and customers with the utmost respect during these pandemic times! Not to mention we waited over an hour while in the store, for a pizza that was apparently thin crust, I guess they were really trying to stretch and save on the dough and when we ask to see the lady manager, she was extremely rude to us as we inquired about our long wait....DONT SPEND YOUR MONEY HERE....NOT WORTH IT!

Absolutely the best place we ate on our Washington DC trip. Huge selection of sandwiches pizzas and pastas, and a really good beer selection. I have been looking for a good stout out in Virginia and this place had 10 on tap. Even better that a portion of proceeds go towards animal rescues and shelters. Really wish they had one of these out where I live. Service was great as well

The food is incredible but more importantly so is the staff. My wife went in person to pickup a to go order and forgot to check it.after a phone call the manager delivered it to our house himself.we’ve been coming here for years and can’t say enough about this place!

Been here a few times now and each time the sandwiches and beer were very good. Pizza is also well made although my mom was sightly annoyed that the cauliflower dough still contained rice flour.

Staff is always friendly. Great selection of pies, sandwiches and beers. Lots to decide from! If you like Marinara sauce, you have to get the side of theirs homemade. It is an up charge but it is a large portion for a side and really good if you get a pizza without sauce cooked onto it.

Good place, like the pitas, not a huge fan of the sandwiches, kinda skimpy. Do like the pizzas, deserts, Italian fries.

First time here not a bad place. I ordered a personal pizza... There were many pizzas and sandwiches to choose from. Honestly I shouldve went with the sandwich option it looked way better than my pizza. The pizza was just mediocre.. it wasnt bad but it wasnt that special. Id skip the pizza and go for the sandwiches if you visit here.

We have tried a few pizzas and sandwiches (there is a HUGE selection) and only had one miss. Reliably good food. Especially anything I have had with chicken (sandwiches or on pizzas), it is very juicy and tender. Some of the carry out staff can be a bit less than friendly, but table service has always been really good. Another nice thing is the beer selection- it is a great place to stop in and pick up a local craft brew.

Lost Dog is a solid choice any time you want a casual meal. It’s a great place to bring kids and also if you want to grab local beer and watch sports. We like to go to the take out window more than sit down. My only complaint is they constantly forget something in take out orders - dressing, side item, etc. - so check your order before you leave. I had one bad experience in about 10 visits and the manager took care of us. Just went there last Sunday and the server was awesome.

It used to be our favorite place, but since the pandemic started, they have gone down hill drastically! Pizzas that were once fresh, now appear to be pre-prepared or frozen. Service has also declined with management not caring about customers’ concerns. Unfortunately, today we got the worst pizza of our lives! We will never go back to Lost Dog Cafe in Alexandria.

Great service, yummy food, and TONS of options. So many sandwiches and pizzas especially. We enjoyed all the vegetarian options too since one of the people in our group was vegetarian. Everything was fresh and well prepared. We will definitely return to this place next time we are in the area.

Had a Big Red Pie. Sauce was delicious, cheese was ample and tasty, basil was fresh and delightful, but the crust itself was tragically limp - to the point where it was difficult to actually eat (it may have actually been undercooked).

Im honestly so disappointed. I ordered a fettuccine alfredo and a pizza. Both were gross. The alfredo tasted like it was made 3 days ago and was microwaved. The pizza tasted like it was frozen and cheap. I feel like I wasted my money.

A nice place with a full (I mean crazy full) food menu and a delightfully varied beer menu (yes they have IPA, but their taps are not taken over by those hoppy beers so I always get to enjoy my choice of a nice stout!) They also have bottled beer and swag to go!They have indoor seating (great for working lunches, a dinner date, or taking the kids out to eat while you sip a beer).And outdoor dog-friendly seating ALL YEAR! My pup and I bundle up and run over there even when its freezing, I enjoy a nice beer and give him a few bites of meat (I suggest bringing your own dog bowls, and dont let the dog eat off of the plate).

I’m not really a sandwich guy at all, but Lost Dog Cafe has the sandwich for EVERYONE! No matter what your preference may be. I personally recommend the Surf N Turf sandwich with a side of seasoned waffle fries!SN: The craft beer selection is also worth looking into.

Great menu and awesome beer list. Had a delicious Sixpoint 5Beans porter (A melting pot of cacao, vanilla, coffee, and cardamom creates our original Turkish inspired porter.). Very friendly staff.

I got a vegetarian sandwich ( gluten free ) with mushrooms on it, and got FOOD POISONING from it about 2 hours later. The sandwich was delicious but how do you give a vegetarian food poisoning, I wouldn’t come back here for this reason
