We are on a tight timeframe, to rewire our home theater system, which was a tangled mess of wires, in the midst of new flooring installation this week. What a nice experience. I called Brian about tuning up a 25 year old SOTA Sapphire turntable. He looked it over and adjusted the suspension. When I went to pick it up he had integrated it into one of his amazing sound systems so I could hear the full potential of this turntable and reviewed all the possible upgrades SOTA offered. Spent a nice session listening to some vinyl. It was like going to a friends house to listen to their two channel stereo. Not a high pressure trip to a high end stereo salon. Herndon Audio is literally one of the best dealers in North America. I live in Arizona and because of an Audiogon ad, was connected to Brian. For 20 years, Brian Herndon, the electrical-engineer owner of Herndon Audio, has recommended, sold and installed all my audio/TV/streaming equipment in my homes in three states. The great advantage of reliance on Brian for these things--in addition to his highly educated understanding of the technologies being employed--is that he stays current as to what the best possible equipment/combinations are available at every price point. He will say, for example, that one brand of $500 speakers is the best available until one spends $2,000, etc. He can tell you the same thing about speakers that sell for tens or hundreds of thousands of dollars. He sells at competitive prices--but in my opinion, funding his continuing research into these matters merits full retail.

Brian is an audio engineer and consultant, not really a stereo sales guy. That in itself is the real value in doing business with him. He only stocks equipment that he feels represent the best in audio reproduction and value. I was in the process of replacing some old equipment and frankly, not very savvy in how much the world has changed in audio technology. Based on Brians advice, I bought some amazing ELAC speakers and a Denon receiver to power them. The result (in my acoustically challenging living room) is amazing. Im hearing nuances and subtleties off of my albums that I never heard before. Throughout the selection process, Brian was nothing but patient and very helpful, answering a lot of questions, including after the sale set up questions. He clearly wants customers to be happy with their picks. All of this and pricing comparable to Amazon! Theres a reason all of these are five star reviews.
