Eric is a skilled luthier, who is very easy to work with. Great guy, great service, great prices.
I brought in my bass guitar for a new nut, set-up and to fix my noisy input jack. Eric did a great job and the bass is playing great. I would not hesitate to use his services again.
Eric fixed a recurring electrical problem in my granddaughters electric guitar. It was shorting out and would stop working intermittently. It now works great!!! She says that even the sound quality (volume and clarity) is so much better since he repaired it! Thanks, Eric!
Really really happy with the work Eric did. He was very professional and did a great job in assembling and setting up my Warmoth build. He had a ton of knowledge on pickups and really helped steer me in the right direction for the tone I was looking for. Super impressed, thanks a lot Eric!
Took my fender jazz bass to Eric to replace a stripped truss nut and replace the bridge. He was incredibly quick, and the bass looks great! His price was more than reasonable, and in addition to what I listed, he offered to grind down the frets a little, and did a full setup of the bass. It sounds and plays better than it ever has. Im definitely going to him for any future work!
I had such a great experience with Eric I’ll be singing his praises to anyone I know with a guitar. Eric made my 20 year old Martin guitar play easier than it ever has (action was probably too high to start with and has gotten higher over the years). His work was great, affordable and quick—he had my guitar back in just a few days—and he’s a super nice guy. We’re fortunate to have him in Albany.
Eric did an outstanding job on my Les Paul and Starcaster on the Les Paul I took it in because it just didn’t sound right found out bridge pickup one pickup pole piece was out of polarity this is a guitar a year old plus ridged fret ends called Gibson told me out of warranty Eric put in Seymour Duncan 59s set up guitar did fret work now guitar sounds like a Les Paul what a great job Eric did on both guitars plus the price was right
I was pleasantly surprised to stumble upon a professional tech so close to home. After reading so many positive reviews I gave Eric a shot and I am glad that I did. He did a great job lowering the very high from-the-factory action on my new Martin 000 and was honest about his workload and schedule. I own a number of guitars and will gladly bring them to Eric when they need any kind of maintenance or repair beyond my own abilities. So great to have a true, honest to goodness passionate professional nearby!
I typically like to do my own set-ups, but occasionally, I run into a situation where no matter how much truss rod and bridge height adjustments Ive made, I still get fret buzz. When this happens, I acknowledge to myself that this guitar needs a pro and I pick up the phone and call Eric. Hes worked on three guitars for me and Ive been extremely happy with the results each time. Hes a nice guy to do business with. His service is excellent, his rates are very fair and hes typically gotten my guitars repaired in 1-2 weeks. Im happy to recommend Eric!!
Brought my bass in to Eric for a (long overdue) setup. Great guy, honest service. Prices are very fair, even with the excellent caliber of work performed - bass has never played better. Will definitely return when future needs arise. Highly recommended!
Had an acoustic that didnt play well but I wanted to hang on to for sentimental reasons. Eric was able to breathe new life into it for a very reasonable price. Quick turn around, great customer service. Incredibly satisfied.
Skillful craftsman! I brought in my 36 year old Fender, which was in desperate need of new frets. Eric completed an expert rework, including changing effective radius, in an impressively short amount of time. The guitar is playing better than ever(much better than the original setup). Highly recommended.
Great work. Wonderful experience! Had Eric do a set up on my ancient 1966 Gibson acoustic. This was my first experience having work done on any guitar. Eric made some suggestions for some modifications which I agreed to. I cant believe how much easier the guitar plays! So happy. Thanks Eric.
Kokotele Guitar Works was by far the best place to get a guitar repaired. I have had some experiences in the past with guitar techs, and each one doesnt compare to Erics work. Eric is professional, punctual, and fair with his prices on repairs. Best of all, the work is superb! Very well done. Both of my guitars (Squier Jaguar and a Fender Telecaster Custom) have been done at his shop and each one sounds like its brand new again! I would definitely recommend Kokotele Guitar Works to any guitar player in the Capital region. Thanks again, Eric!
Highly recommend, he was not in shop but directed me to his full time office job so I had not wasted a trip to Albany.Have every confidence that he will repair the repair the 44 year old acoustic guitar I left with him. 😺
Eric does awesome work. If you need a fret job go to this guy he can really hook it up. Excellent expertise level craftsmanship. Also, the price was very reasonable for the high quality work he did. My warn frets are now a thing of the past. A++++++++++
Wow. Eric did such an excellent job on my 40-year old Martin D-41. It needed lots of work...lots. It plays better than it ever has. This guy is a master at what he does. And the price was remarkably reasonable. I couldnt be happier or recommend him any more highly. Ask him for my name and number if you have any doubts. Let this note be his permission to share the info.
Had Eric set up my Strat. I wasnt sure what to expect. When I got home and had a chance to play it, all I can say is Wow. It plays like butter and sounds incredible. Thank you very much! If anyone needs setup, see Eric first.
Fantastic 8 string setup. Eric did an excellent job setting up my headless multiscale 8 string guitar. Its the best setup Ive had done on any guitar. He quickly determined the condition of the neck and found a high fret that he was able to mitigate with an amazing setup, saving me a fret level. Ill be bringing my other guitars to him in the future.
Eric knows what hes doing! I sent him a case full of parts, and he sent me my dream Telecaster! You can tell he wanted it to be as great as I did! He asked me questions about my setup preference that no local shop has ever asked me when Ive taken my guitars in. This thing plays as sounds better than I ever imagined and its all thanks to Eric! Highly recommended!
I have an Ibanez acoustic Id just about given up on. I got it at a great price but it never played right. I tinkered with it myself. I tried Guitar Center and they did an OK job with it, it was better, but still lacking. I tried Parkway Music. Once again better, but still not what I hoped for. I found Eric online and decided to give him a shot. Its been 2 months since he worked his magic and Im going to be keeping the guitar. The action and feel is now correct. Anytime I need work done Ill be bringing my guitars to him for here on out. He takes the time to listen and has the skills to get the job done right.
Was new to the area and needed some work done on my guitar. From email correspondence Kokotele seemed like a great shop, and indeed it is. Always good communication, excellent work and prompt timing, and a great price for very high quality work. Very glad to have a reliable tech to take care of my guitars, thanks!
I had Eric work on my Guild acoustic. I thought that its action was a little high and that its tone was unbalanced (boomy). As a result, I never played it, and it just sat in its case. Eric worked on the frets and installed a bone nut and saddle and adjusted the action. The difference in tone and playability is quite significant. The guitar has a warmth that it never had before. Ive now been playing it every day. Thank you Eric.
Eric worked on both my Taylor 614-CE acoustic guitar, and my 67 Tele and he did excellent and meticulous work on both of them. He is knowledgeable, meticulous, dependable, and super-easy to deal with. He knows his stuff, and I would totally trust him with further repair work on any of my guitars.
Fantastic Re-Fret on SRV strat. Erics work is impeccable, the turn around time was short and the price was more than fair. I gotta tell ya this guitar has only left my side for two weeks in twenty years and in those two weeks Eric at Kokotele Guitar Works performed magic on it. The man knows what hes doing and does it well.
Glad to find Eric. Great work . See for yourself. You wont be disappointed.
Had a pretty bad Fret Buzz, Searched the web did some of the work myself, but it wouldnt go away. Found Eric through the Google reviews and all I can say is thank you to Eric, Fret job and the guitar sounds and plays great!!
Eric knows his stuff -- guitars, amps, repairs, he does it all! Contact him for great instrument service.
I recently had my Taylor 512 ce spruced up by Mr. Gleason and am delighted with the results. The guitar, now 8 years old, had become increasingly difficult to play due to the action being too high. After years of being disappointed with the mediocre results of the usual local music stores, Eric has returned my Taylor to its original vigor. It now plays and feels like it did when it was new. For anyone who would like to step away from the chain music store scene, I know you would enjoy the personal attention to detail and expertise of a master craftsman. Your guitar will thank you!! Best wishes and thanks to Mr. Gleason.
Highly recommended for fret work. I sent Eric a worn out Tele neck for a full refret. I am very pleased with the results. It is better than new!
Ive had Eric work in several of my guitars, and they always came back perfect. He set up my 69 tele thinline just the way I like it, and re-wired my Nashville three Pick-up tele with a push-pull switch so I could get Neck-Bridge and All-Three-Pickups, which the five-way did not give me.Most impressively, I entrusted him with my 74 P-bass. There was a constant buzz on the first fret of the E-string, and I was convinced I would need a fret job. Eric managed to straighten the neck and it came out great. Saved me a bunch of money. It probably cost him something, but he knows hes got a client for life.
Eric installed the k&k biscuit bridge pickup on my dobro / resonator, also did the entire fret work and replaced the nut to almost absolute perfection. eric will always be my main guitar repair guru in albany. make kokotele guitar works the first place you check out for all your six string repair needs... ***YOU ROCK ERIC*** all the very best my friend..!! 10 STARS**********
Some really fantastic fretwork. Highly recommend.
He does great
