I had consigned a large lot of Confederate notes to the owner (Ken Salter) years ago. I shouldve looked at the receipt that he gave me back then...There were almost a hundred notes unaccounted for!Thankfully, my partner and I had logged every serial number in the collection, prior to consigning it.Unfortunately, the owner died before he and I could sit down and have the meeting that I had requested (to sort out the difference in the totals). He left the business in the hands of his widow. When I brought the discrepancy to her attention, she said that she would locate all the Confederate notes in her late husbands collection. She gave me everything she could find. It was still woefully short of what I had originally consigned. She asked me how much money it would take to make up for the lost/stolen notes. But, when I gave her the total (which, was on the LOW end of what he would have given me after selling them), she said she would have to talk to her lawyer! In the end, I got less than half of what was owed to me and she wouldnt give up a penny more. This woman is literally worth millions and millions of dollars! One year, for an anniversary, her husband bought her a Jaguar!Yet, she made it seem as though it pained her to part with the $2,000 that she did give me.If you want to deal with an honest antique store, go somewhere else! This place WILL rip you off, if given the opportunity.
