12/10/2020After a few emails back and forth with Alexandra, we made a house call appointment with Mark Lawson to look at some items we were interested in selling, one of which was a large painting we did not want to transport. Before the appointment we received a detailed email as to what to expect at our appointment. Mark arrived on time and was very cordial and knowledgeable. He offered us fair market value for some gold jewelry we no longer wear, and he will be attempting to sell two items at auction. Our experience so far has been particularly good.5/17/2021Im happy to report our two items sold at auction and we received our settlement check. I would definitely do business Mark Lawson Antiques again.

We met with Mark, March 2021, with a small collection of family heirlooms, jewelry, artwork, china and coins. Mark proved to be knowledgeable and fair. As Mark assessed each item he also gave a running commentary which was both interesting and educational.

I contacted Mark Lawson during the time that NY was on pause and even though he was not seeing clients, his assistant checked in with me every couple of weeks by email. How perfect, I didnt feel forgotten and as soon as Mr. Lawson was able to meet with clients an appointment was set up. I met with Mr. Lawson on 6/5/2020 (Im a bit late in getting this done). I was so amazed with how at ease he made me while looking through the items in this estate. His knowledge of the items and what items are in demand was incredible. I thought he may have been able to purchase more, but everything that he did was helpful to me. He took the time to answer all of my questions. I know in the future I will contact him again. Id heard Mark Lawson in an adult ed presentation and was impressed by his knowledge and experience, and his perspective on what there might be a market for. I fully understand that just because something is old, its not necessarily valuable. So I chose to have him evaluate the things I have that I thought were unique, clear that he wants to work with clients who have intentions of selling. During my appointment he first indicated things that were of little value as antiques, but offered info on what I might sell them for on my own. He researched several additional items and offered me more than I had expected for them. I agreed to sell them, and am happy to have moved them along.

I meet with Mr. Lawson at a jewelry appraisal event. He was very straight forward and suggested I bring some of my other pieces to his office. I made an appointment and took some jewelry and coins. I was pleased with the result, however I was anticipating a little more for a few of the pieces. But, after this meeting I plan to take some other items for him to appraise after I do some research. I am sure he will be very accommodating on my next visit.

I found Mark to be very thorough, knowledgeable, and fair. I would return to him again if I had other antiques or items of interest. I took an assortment of items- jewelry, coins, Japanese plates, books. I would highly recommend Mark to others.

Mark was great! His office staff is punctual with getting back to you, setting an appointment to take a look at your items at a convenient location and offering you a very fair amount for what you’ve got. Everything was easy and the transaction was smooth and paid on sight, would definitely do business again with Mark and his staff. Give them a shot Mark really knows his stuff.

Very professional. I received a free appraisal for items I was looking to sell. Mark was able to refer me to other professional appraisers as well. Great location for me and follow-through. Once the appointment was made, I received a detailed email providing directions and what I should expect outlining services they provide. I highly recommend . Professional. I mean that about my experience and in the best way possible. From my telephone call through the completion of my sale, it was painless and easy. Marks staff quickly booked me for an appointment to meet with him the next day. When I showed up the next day, his staff was friendly, I was seated quickly in a private office, and I was asked if I needed anything during my short wait (less than 5 minutes from my scheduled appointment.) Mark was efficient in his appraisal, he provided an explanation for everything, and he answered every question I had. He was nice enough to take a look at two pieces I wasnt going to sell. No bs, no double talk, a salt of the earth guy which is rare in antiques.

The office was welcoming. Mr. Lawson was fair and honest. I received a check immediately. The only thing missing was an explanation of price per weight and how my merchandise weighed. My fault I should have asked more questions.

After finally emptying the jewelry boxes of my mother, grandmother and mother-in-law who have been deceased for decades, I had no idea what most of the pieces really were made of or if they had any value. I phoned Mark Lawson and spoke with a very pleasant Juliana who understood my dilemma and set up an appointment for me to meet with Mr. Lawson. Although I had hundreds of pieces of jewelry, he took his time to look at each piece and determine if it had any value. I was concerned about being embarrassed or treated like I was wasting his time but felt just the opposite. He was professional, knowledgeable and answered my many questions with a patience that made me feel very comfortable and confident that he was being more than fair in his assessment of the pieces and value he was willing to pay for items. I would highly recommend Mark Lawson to anyone who has something they would like to sell but don’t know where to go.

My encounter with Mark was during a fund-raising event he was doing for the Century Club in Amsterdam, NY. Unfortunately, the vintage items I brought for him to examine were not worth much, but he took the time to educate me about what makes certain items valuable. He did relate a very interesting story about an item that was brought to him that could trace its history to the Revolutionary War. My visit with Mark was very enlightening, and I highly recommend his expertise.

Mr. Lawson was a lifesaver as I did not know where to go for an opinion on my parents items. He was very knowledgable and also very polite in his answers. He helped me out a great deal and I would recommend him to anyone in the same position.

I had a tea set, hair combs, flatware and lamps that I brought to Mr. Lawson for evaluation. Mr. Lawson was knowledgeable about the items and shared what he knew. The objects were valuable to me but I understand that there isn’t much of a market for these things. I felt Mr. Lawson’s offers were fair and I had the choice to walk away. Having tried to sell those items and other antique furniture prior to contacting Mr. Lawson I know it is nearly impossible. Antique dealers won’t buy from individuals and auction houses require authentication which is difficult if it is a family heirloom..

I had a $5 Benjamin Harrison 1903 bill to sell. I dealt completely by email and received a check in the mail. Alexander was a pleasure to deal with. I choose the company because I heard Mark on WAMC

Terrible, called because I have a house full of antique furniture and carnival and depression glass plus antique toys from the mid 1800s. The girl said they dont buy carnival glass and they dont want furniture because the market is soft. Well they lost because I called a competitor who loved the furniture. I got a check for 40k and he was very happy. Obviously Larsons think they are too good. wrong again

Mr. Lawson gave me a value for a diamond ring of 600.00 without a comprehensive evaluation which I later learned from a professional gemologist that the market value, not the retail value, was close to 4000! Thats a 666% difference! How could there be this much discrepancy? I recommend getting professional appraisals before turning in your valuables!
