Clean, mostly always stocked, excellent customer service, everyone seems happy, food prices, close to food places, has a Starbucks inside

Hardly ever go to this Alameda location. Went to another place and decided to go to Safeway. A good visit. Clean store. I got what I needed without much wait.

It has a good selection of Asian foods, I love their shin noodles and they occasionally go on sale for 2 for a dollar its pretty rare but its a good time to stop up on instant noodles. They also have good produce, familiar staff, a discount section, a nice pharmacy. And they have a bakery.

It was ok, they were out of Good Good Keto strawberry jam.

Is a really big safe way really nice personal and very hard workers . I think is one of the best safeway i been to and is close to the beach as well .Oh i forgot it has a Starbucks !!!

I havent shopped this Safeway in I dont know how long. I had to stop at the post office lobby to send out two bill payments. Since I needed a few items to fix hamburgers, I stopped here to get those items (ground beef, lettuce, tomatoes) along with some bananas, sliced cheese potato chips, soy sauce and ramen noodle bowl.Safeway has expanded its store. Some of the items I could not find at first. They moved these items to different aisles.I only came here for convenience, as I did not want to travel across town to my go to supermarket. No telling when I will visit this Safeway in the future.

This store is huge so if your local Safeway doesnt have it this one probably does. The store is always fairly clean and organized with things in their correct locations. I like self check out so I cant speak on staff. I dont like to come here after dark though. Outside people can be sketchy.🤨

The staff are really nice and the store is always clean. Sometimes its missing stock but they do their best to keep things in.

The remodel is very nice with the isles being named after Alameda streets. Since the remodel they seemed to have gotten some new staff and almost all of them are so nice, a definite improvement! They remember you after a few visits and Ive been coming there for 2 years and that hasnt happened till now. Deduct a star for some of their produce prices sometimes, damn.

A good example of one of the larger tier of Safeway stores.Lots of space, lots of selection. Clean, ample parking, great location in South shore center in Alameda.

Good store. Remodeling helped with the lines a bit but they often have all the self checkouts turned off.

One of my top choices when it comes to late night grocery shopping. Very well stocked, clean and friendly staff and clean bathrooms. Location is great and safe

The level of cleanliness and freshness is on par with Pleasanton and other far off Safeways. But the major draw are the employees. Personable, friendly, courteous, and caring. You dont get any of that now a days. You will definitely love this Safeway location.

Many, many half empty shelves. People filling in shelves need to learn how to be neat. They leave their debris all over the aisle. Even the soda aisle needed filling. Staff seemed disinterested.

After 10pm weeknights Ive not seen more than 1 register open in 5 months shopping here. That means the late hard alcohol runs create a 10 min additional wait in line so they can get correct pricing. When 2 customers in a row need hard liquor price checks, it takes 25+ mins to get yer 1 item purchaed. Its happened to me twice! Otherwise its a clean store w a clean butcher counter.

This safeway store in the city of alameda county was beautiful and respectful employee and the US Bank inside the bank was very respectful in helping me with what I need and I never been grocery shopping in this store but far as all the safeway store I shop and work at in the 1970 they are getting better with more respectful employees and customer service boots so as an retire safeway employee myself keep up the great job everyone

Wonderfully groomed shopping center with a great variety of my favorite stores. Service has always been a good pleasurable experience. TJ maxx is one of my favorites, plus Panera, Safeway, Starbucks, Daisio, See’s, and Applebee’s has a good happy hour. There’s a beautiful bar in the Chinese restaurant near Starbucks too!

This is my go to store for groceries. It has about 95% of what I need or want. Produce is fresh and decent selection. Between this and trader joes next door, you should be able to find most anything. Its why the parking lot is so full.The store is currently being renovated. Cant wait to see what itll be like.

I don’t like this place ! I’m front it say mask not needed if fully vaccinated which I am and have the card to show ! I was on the phone at checkout talking and the cashier decides to listen in and ask me if I have sick family. Extremely rude ! Than she told me the mask mandate it going back into effect. I will not be returning. Learn to do your job and not listening into others conversations. I work in customer service and I would never treat my customer this way. Also your fruit sucks ! Always moldy and no taste when the fruit is fine. The prices are ridiculous

Its just Safeway. Lol. I mean, I guess it is a pretty big Safeway. And you can find just about anything. If you have the just4you, you can actually get pretty good deals.

Horrible checkout.14 counters, but only 2 to 4 open no matter how busy it is, plus 4 self check out lanes. They dont care how long you have to wait in line.😡 I order from Instacart to avoid shopping there.

I love Safeway because theyre the only store in the valley who still carry salmon steak!! I love salmon but prefer to buy salmon steak.Besides fresh seafood my only question is why doesnt this location carry dragon fruit? I was surprised the Safeway in Alameda carry dragon fruit and the Manteca location doesnt.

The convenience of being next to Trader Joes makes this place great because they have some speciality things here that I couldnt get from TJs limited selection. I was able to find all the different peppers I needed for my chili and it came out really great. I was able to get the sliced tomato sauce from Mexico, Serrano peppers, habaneros and a good bit of spices to add into the mix to add some extra depth to my dish. It was a quick in and out because everything was labeled accurately and the self check out was good.The reason why I left the last star off is also because of self check out. The search mechanic on the item look up isnt so user friendly. I typed Serrano to get the peppers to show up and it gave me nothing. I had to type in peppers and scroll through the list. It also couldnt find Chinese Eggplant by searching either of the terms and the attendant that tried to help gave the wrong number the first time. Everything else went by smoothly so I was still happy with the rest of the experience.

Alameda South Shore is the best. They have the only open office in Alameda. Very helpful and sooooo NICE! Thank you Nathaniel Owens!

The current “business hours” are showing that this is a 24hr location, however, on 5/15/21, I visited the store at 12:27am and all doors were locked. I even called the store to confirm the hours and the automated voice system also stated that this store is open 24hrs. Not sure what’s going on, but gave 4-stars because this location is always clean and well stocked.

Clean and organized. But staff is not helpful. In fact, they always make excuesses not to help me.

This Safeway is very clean with lots of quality fruit and veggie options. The sandwich was well made and the staff was friendly unlike my experience in Pleasanton.

One stop shop and location is great. Parking can get a little hectic on certain times of the day. Be cautious and watch out for pedestrians.

This is my favorite Safeway. It’s big and open late (which makes social distancing somewhat easier), and it generally has things in stock that the other stores are out of. Trader Joe’s is also right next door, so if you’re there before 8 p.m when TJ’s closes, it’s convenient if you’re in favor of one-stop shopping.

Terrible! Things arent where the isles are labeled, theres no staff, counter orders take forever. So many better choices around.

Safeway is great. They remodeled during covid. They discontinued some products sadly for me. I love love the banana almond milk. I hope it comes back. Play the monopoly! It pays off. The north doors close at 8pm, fyi.

Parking lot is mad busy but this store does well with the drive up and go. Dude that brought out groceries was nice and helpful all while answering the safeway drive up and go mobile and making a mental list of names. Quiet talented, especially with the multitasking and he had fabulous hair.

I would give it a five but I feel the quality of service has gone down a bit. Im sorry to say that its just not fun anymore shopping there too many people yelling if you have a mask or not. Its just not that friendly anymore to me there are certain employees there that have been there for a long long time and I will always seek them if I need anything because a good employee always makes sure the customers happy and I dont complain. I just wish I can give it a higher rating but Im being honest. Anytime I have to make a mad dash in the store because I have to wear a mask its not fun anymore. And I dont want the obvious to happen all stores to close so we have to buy online I dont like that I like inspecting everything I buy.

Everything you could EVER want it in this store. I MEAN everything, the people are nice and the store is huge.They have higher prices then most stores but it does have everything your looking for in one place.

3 times I go there in a month, after 11pm and they are closed even when it says 24hours. They put signs that say they are updating their systems as an excuse.

What I love about Safeway is their bakery department. When you need some treats at the last minute its a great place to go. For my sweet tooth the brownies are the best. They have good sales and staff are helpful.

This is my go-to Safeway just because it is in Alameda. Safeways selection of goods is large from organic and regular, do be sure to check which you want for produce as price can vary a lot and scattered in the area.Their prices are usually higher than most other grocers like Luckys or the Trader Joe next door but they are open at earlier and longer times. This location used to be 24hr until covid changes so hopefully if/when that goes away, it will be 24hrs again.They area also remodeling their store and things have been placed in different aisles(chips for me mostly), Im not sure if this is a permanent change, for the remodel of the newer self checkout, or a Superbowl thing though. So for the time being, be ready to go adventuring for specific things you might need.

Deli area is very unorganized. 5 people working. Only 1 is helping customers. None of the 5 workers looked up the whole time to acknowledge the customers that are waiting. Once they were done helping the first customer they proceeded to help the first person they see rather than checking to see who was actually next. Worse it wasnt even busy. There were more workers than customers waiting.

I went here to do shopping with my sister. We were grocery shopping for mushymom and got some pretty slick deals. We were able to get raincheck for 2.50 for 2lbs of lamb chops which is great!

Not the cheapest, not the best or the fanciest, but Safeway is everywhere and its not bad. If you download their app and use it to save it can help a lot.

There is no way to get ahold of them via phone, extremely frustrating.

The store was clean, and staff were nice. We stopped by to get a birthday cake, and there was not a huge selection, I understand covid. We settled on an Artisan Black Forest cake, and took it to my Grandmas for her opinion, as her sister makes the best. Safeway Artisan Black Forest cake passed the test.

Lots of space. has everything diapers, lotion, snacks, chips sauces. Soda, water & everything need to make food for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Excellent customer service, fast and accurate....

So, went in to do a quick shop, 25 items on list. No wait to enter store, walked right in. Completed shopping in less than 15mins. Checkout took more than 30mins to complete once in line. Only 2 lanes open for shoppers with 16+ items. Both lines to checkout had at least 12 shoppers. Why didnt they open a 3rd register. After checkout complete, there was now a line to get into store, 50+ people deep.

I want to let the supervisor of Safeway at southshore aware of what happened this early evening at southshore at Safeway.... I was waiting for a sandwich in the deli line, there were two people before me so I had been waiting a little while.the new girl is very good and she wants to make sure shes making the sandwiches just right for everybody... So that takes a little time... I went up when they called next, a gal a young girl and her boyfriend walked up to order a couple sandwiches.... I let her know theres been a mistake I was next and I smiled and she started arguing and yelling at me, threatening me Etc... As she was coming towards me Anthony a Safeway employee was there before I knew it !!!!!!! He stepped in between us, and then before I knew it Tracy and customer service was there already cornering the girl and letting her know she must leave as she was extremely aggressive!!!!! I am recovering from a small heart attack that I just had in June... Tracy after the girl left she made sure she got me a ice water out of the fridge and got me some paper towels to wipe my face off with and stood there and talk with me until I was calmed down.... I have been coming to your store for the last 30 35 years.... I really like my chicken sandwiches from the deli.... I know the people behind the deli some of them, I have gotten to know them over the years.. but most of all I need to think Tracy and Anthony and even the security guard came to check it out... but by the time he got there Tracy and Anthony had it settled and the girl had to leave... Tracy rang up my groceries at customer service for me, and had Anthony walk me out to my car..And I want you to know you have some excellent employees there. They are dedicated to Safeway!!!!! I cant thank them enough and I hope they get some kind of raise or praise for sure ... Thank You Tracy in Custermer service & Anthony who works Thursday Friday and Saturday at the self-checkout line... Thank You So Much!!!!!!! ♥️😊.... Lisa Roberts

Apparently this location is being remodeled inventory was low but checkout was quick.

Store was not very crowded, only had 2-3 people waiting for checkout on each line. The Safeway in Alameda added a second self checkout positions.Merchandise is fully stacked. There were attractive discounts on meat and cooked meat as well. I especially appreciate their $5.00 sushi specials on every Friday. Quite a selection of pies and cakes were also on $5 specials. Cashiers are mostly friendly and professional. I ran into a niche last week when the sushi counter is having a special...if you purchase one sushi ($5) item, you get a quart ofGlacial Smart water. So I bought 2 sushi and 2 qts of Glacial water. Upon checkout, the male cashier charged $5 for sushi and 7.50? for each quart of water. When I told them that the water is complementary if you purchase the sushi. The cashier says not according to Safeways computer. The cashier offered me the alternative to return to the sushi counter to pay for the sushi with comp. water.This took approx 20mins. I returned to the male cashier to show him my receipt and he started in my eye and says, if its not in the Safeway computer, I will have to charge whatever the Safeway computer says.....end of story. All and all, it got 40mins purchasing two packs of sushi.

Covid precautions were alrignt, but I was there just before closing, and it seems like the kind of neighborhood that calls it a night early. The staff I did interact with was friendly. They had absolutely no roastbeef and very limited dillweed. Idunno, its a safeway, what do you expect?
