Good selection of stuff, short on ammo but who isnt I did get a heads up from the guy as to when the truck comes in and apparently theyre getting a lot.So thats a good sign that manufacturers are catching back up they didnt have the best pistol selection at the time at least not on display.really nice long guns though great place I love the environment and good prices Definitely cant wait to go back

Academy will not help me find or order a product listed on their website? The manufacture said that their distributors have the items in stock. I absolutely do not understand a business not wanting to take my money, and call me when item arrives? This is retail 101 !!!And their website does not have contact link that is easy to find. Corporate B.S.

Good Place to look for typical sports (baseball etc) gear. Nice camping, cookout, archery sections...good deals on clothing and plenty of footwear.No ammo -Very few if any firearms-Hopefully things will get better and these things will become available again.

Seems like a lot of stuff was out of stock when I went into the store, you might be better off just ordering it online from them, or elsewhere.

We enjoy shopping here at Academy and the staff is always willing to help. Last few trips though its been difficult finding the right size available in mens clothing.

Best place for sporting equipment and amo

Was looking for some inexpensive basketball shorts for upcoming total knee replacement. Found some for 8.99.

They didnt have the size shoes I needed & wouldnt order them or get them from another Academy Sports so I went somewhere else and got the shoes I wanted & spent over $400. I wont ever give them my business!

Like this store: it has a great supply of fishing gear, clothing, and camping/outdoor supplies. Before COVID, it had an ample supply of ammunition and weapons; supplies are short now along with other retailers. The prices are competitive with Cabelas in Augusta. Good selection of jeans and shoes. Check it out.

Horribel! Placed an order for a bike for my daughters birthday at 12 PM yesterday for store pickup. Online says 24 to 48 hours for assembly. Cool. Got the email at 330 PM yesterday said order go to go ready for pickup. Great get it in the morning. 9 am get a call. She says your bike is in pieces not assembled. You can pick it up like that. if you want it assembled cant come til Tuesday. 5 day wait for assembly? False advertising. Why did I get an email it was ready? Customer service no help.

I loved going to Academy because of the great deals. But today, I saw a worker legit hide behind a rack of clothes to watch a Black man test out a bow and follow him. Also the people that go there stare at every non-white person like they’re not supposed to be there. I feel very uncomfortable in there now. This place has gone downhill. Probably won’t return any time soon. Get better, people. It’s 2020.

Clean,organized store. Searched online for a resistance band set and found it.

They rarely answer the phone the first time I call, especially the hunting department. Usually takes a couple tries. Once I get intouch with someone they are usually unprepared and unable to answer a question reliably and accurately. Ive been told certain ammunition is not in stock; and when I go there, its right on the shelf..... if it wasnt the biggest ammunition seller in my area, I wouldnt go here.

Academy has a good business model and generally good stores, but this location has some of the most disinterested employees in the area. Makes the store pretty much a self service operation.

I ordered a Firearm for Christmas. This purchase was attempted to be picked up on Christmas Eve. I live in Oconee County, SC. The particular gun I searched for online was only available at this store in Aiken. The drive there was 2.5 hours!I received an Email only stating that I needed to provide a Valid Photo ID with my Name matching the card on file to receive this purchase. Upon arrival, I was told by an associate behind the counter that he couldnt accept anything but a State or Federal Document to show proof of Residency. Unfortunately, my SC Drivers License had my old address on it.So this required me to drive 2.5 hours home to gather paperwork. I called the next day and spoke with the Manager and was told I could provide Federal Document from a FAFSA Form showing my current address for Proof of Supplemental Documentation. Academy uses ATF Form 4473. Question 26B states Supplemental Documentation to prove Residency.Needless to say, I made another trip to Aiken. Only to be told that my FAFSA Form showing my current residence was against their policy. Poor Customer service, and unprofessional.

Empty! Literally empty shelves, clothing tossed everywhere. Although Im assuming they did well and sold a ton of merchandise, maybe hire extra help to clean up and put more out. We couldnt find anyone to help us, so we left empty handed. Not a fan!

I applied for a gun on Feb 4th, I am a licensed nurse there is no reason why I should not be able to get a gun. However, after 2 months of waiting for my delayed background check to come through I call and they say it has been locked as a delay. No one called me.. my gun was sold and i did everything I was supposed to. I believe that I could not get my gun because I was shopping while black..

Fretting at the door was good but God for his you ask an associate to get a display shoe that you want. Wont do that again

One of my favorite places to shop for athletic clothing,and my favorite spot for fishing gear and fishing poles,and they have 2 or 3 aisles of worms and spinners as well as fishing rods and reels.the people working there are friendly,and always helping people out.

Update: customer service e-mailed me with a manual it took three weeks but they got it to me. Thank you so much.I contacted customer service yesterday and they told me to contact the local store and they should be able to give me a copy of the instructions since I missed placed min . The manufacturer does not have a website or phone number that I could not fine or customer service could not fine. I contact the store asking about a products instructions. I ask if I can take a photo of the assembly instructions since I missed placed mine. I was transferred through three people. The third gentlemen say I could not take pictures because it was a security risk (people walk into that store and take pictures all the time) and covid19 issue. Store allows regular traffic with a max limit right now.

Almost all grocery stores in the area sold out of Tony Chacheres injectable seasoning....low and behold Academy sports had a big shelf FULL lol. Google search showed they had them in stock and Im so glad they did!!! Also their grilling section in the store is pretty serious. Worth the visit!!

Today I was kicked out of this establishment for not wearing a mask because I have a medical issue.The woman who kicked me out stated she has asthma, well maybe she shouldn’t come and approach people if she’s worried about catching nothing from me.I thought there were discrimination laws regarding people with medical issues but clearly this store doesn’t care.

Cashier was friendly and curtious.

End the mask requirement!! It’s getting to be ridiculous!

I was impressed with the knowledge that was passed on to me as well as the hands on experience. Store was very nice. Everything was clean and organized, and clearance items were clearly marked. I came in for incremental weights, and I was disappointed with the lack of selection in that area. Since they didnt have that, I decided to look for a new pair of weightlifting shoes. No on that too, although they do carry Chucks, which work well enough for my level of lifting.All in all, my experience was okay; neither bad nor good.

This was the worst customer service experience. I called at 9:05 on a Monday morning, was placed on hold three times and then could get no one to answer at all this whole experience took23 minutes and got absolutely no customer service,

I bought a abu Garcia Silverman 40 spinning reel and it’s junk. Went fishing the first time and it’s locked up and I cannot reel or cast it. I’ve looked at Academy Sports in Aiken and they don’t stock it now.I’ll go somewhere else to buy my next reels.

Customer service is good, polite, kids at firearm counter were cutting up and loud while I was there (1hr). Went to leave and found 1 item didnt ring up as marked down. Got half way home and realized my big purchase had rang up wrong too. I have to go back, I live an hour away.
