We had the best experience here today. Drove from st. Charles to go to Grants Farm and just happened across this place. The service was some of the best service I have ever received at any restaurant I’ve been to. Waitresses that weren’t even ours would stop by asking how our food was. The food was great, too. If we are ever in the area again we will definitely eat here again.
The wait staff is excellent. The food, while plentiful, really could use some basic seasoning. We both got omelets with a side short stack. Not sure how you can make a vegi omelet flavorless, but it pretty much was. I will give this place another try just because of the service.
Went here for the first time this evening. Unfortunately we waited and waited. But no service. Owner appeared to be on his own.and was preparing a large to go order. With no help he was unable to get to us. We waited 15 minutes. Other reviews seem good and if he hires some help we may give it another go..
This place is absolutely incredible. It doesn’t matter if they are full or only a few tables you get great service with a smile and a great tasting home cooked meal for a really affordable price I would highly recommend this place to anyone and everyone it really takes me back

Experience was beautiful went there for my sons birthday I have a phobic. Of my food touching the young lady was so sweet actually took my order again and had me more food made delicious I will be coming back I just want to thank them for being so patient and working with me with my anxiety it felt really good to find some place that I could sit down and eat at thank you

Lunch came out fast, and that was the best I can say. I got country fried steak, with mashed potatoes and green beans. The beans were burnt, the potatoes were not cooked thoroughly, and the meat was blah. I was also charged $2 for gravy to be on the potatoes. Bathroom was filthy. Maybe they put out a good breakfast....
Just enjoyed that diner feel! Great cheeseburger! Friendly, hard-working gentleman did it all...host, server, cook, and cashier. Will be back.

My first visit here and it was very pleasant. I placed a to go order and the server brought my food out to the car when it was ready. I thought that was awesome and she was very friendly.I had the meat lovers omelette and a short stack. The omelette was massive and they didn’t skimp on the meat or cheese. It also came with toast and hash browns. I couldn’t even finish it. The pancakes were big and fluffy and really good.I will definitely go back.

I was craving breakfast food and wanted to go to a local place to pick it up and chose Affton Diner. It’s pretty small so I can see it filling up fast if COVID restrictions weren’t in place. The owner was very friendly! I had a short stack of blueberry pancakes with bacon to go and they included everything I needed in case I was going to eat in the car, which has become a normal thing to do now. I would never make this for myself and it really hit the spot. I miss eating at restaurants so much. Please eat local and give them a try!
Affton diner is truly a hidden gem! We had a late breakfast and are absolutely stuffed! We couldn’t even finish everything on our plate because the portions were so huge! My husband had the biscuits with sausage gravy, scrambled eggs with cheese, sausage and bacon. I had their famous French Toast, scrambled eggs with cheese and breakfast potatoes.Everything was delicious! The Owner was super friendly & asked how everything was and our Server, Amanda, was so personable and attentive. Such a welcoming experience during these strange times were living in. Can’t wait to try their lunch menu next time! Do yourself a favor & visit them if you love food made with love! 😊
Amazing food and service
Never go here. The owner who is the cook, and the waitress argued the whole time. The cook messed up my order. The place is dirty. Do not go unless you want a tetnis shot after words.

Not a good place to eat, seem the food was old, the orders were cooked incorrectly and $9 for two eggs with biscuits and gravy is ludicrous.We wont be returning here.Owner and restaurant could use a good cleaning.

Great atmosphere with a traditional diner-style menu! My waitress, Amanda, took excellent care of me, keeping the coffee nice and full the whole time! Food was top notch, reasonably priced and was served with speed I never thought possible. I will be back!

Love the food and atmosphere! The owner is always welcoming and Amanda, our waitress, is lovely and diligent. She checks up on us everytime we visit the diner. The food is super yummy with a lot of choices, and for the price you pay, you get some pretty large proportions.

Someone told me about this place, so I tried it this morning, I was not happy at all, sausage patties were disgusting, the sausage pieces in the gravy was not good either, so I wont ever go back, I learned my lesson that u cant listen to everyones advise.

My food has Always been great, large portions and many choices. John the owner is down to earth and friendly. Amanda the waitress has Always been Topnotch, positive attitude and pays attention to her customers. Highly Recommend if down home cooking and taste is what you desire.
First time I have been to this dinner. My niece recommended it and I took her with me for breakfast. Simply put it was very enjoyable. Food tasted very good and was an abundant amount (took half of it home and enjoyed it later). Service was very good and the waiter was friendly. Cant wait to I come back.
I placed a to go order for a Western omelette and a Philly omelette. The server was very attentive as soon as I walked in the door and the food was absolutely delicious. I definitely recommend Affton Diner!
So Im not one that typically complains (hence the 2 stars not 1), but this place has no excuse for the food they served me yesterday. The place was completely empty, yet the my food was burnt to a crisp( I coulda made better chicken with my eyes closed and hands behind my back. I wish I was exaggerating.) The fries were burnt too but some how soggy and cold too. I literally tipped her 7 dollars, even tho she was sloppy and I literally got my food to go. Would not recommend, I wish I woulda took the extra two minutes to walk to the breakfast and burger. Oh also, even tho my food was to go I didnt get my drink??like the server gets a Togo cup but not me..? I wish I could get my money back, but she threw the receipt away for me. Im actually sad.

We’ve been here on about 4 occasions, the staff is always friendly, and the food is DELICIOUS! The owner is such a nice guy. They use cage free range, no hormones too which is a huge plus for us. Understand this is a family owned, small diner- it gets busy and sometimes the service can be a little slower than you like but it’s worth it! Try it out. This is our new spot, so glad we came across it!!

I have been eating here for years. They have some of the best breakfast food around, and their burgers are top notch. Pretty much whatever you get will be good. And Johnathan always has fresh pie ready to go, which is dope. Highly recommend this place

Owner (and server) was not wearing a mask. He was also RUDE. Shoved my togo order in face without saying anything and walked away. Potatoes for my breakfast were burned. I will NEVER go back!!
Affton Diner has some of the best food in town! Had breakfast this morning was very good and at reasonable price. Everybody there was so nice witness and chief did amazing job on customer service.

Probably one of the worst experiences Ive had in a looong time. My mother, daughter and I went in for lunch today. I ordered biscuits and gravy, Mac n cheese for my daughter and liver and onions for my mom. I knew immediately the Mac n cheese came out of a box, like an 89 cent knock off box of Kraft and was burnt on the bottom. The gravy was gelatinous and tasted like it came out of a bag. The liver was some type of weird patty, Ive never seen a liver patty before. It was also served with canned green beans. Everything tasted microwaved, old an reheated... On top of that, the manwho took our order also cooked our food and wouldnt stop coming to our table to engage with my three year old. Then proceeded to show us pictures of his kids. It was just very uncomfortable on top of the already terrible food.
The service was good. Our waitress was personable offered suggestions, and came back often to top off our coffee. The problem occurred when I saw the bread used for my toast had mold on it! I kindly showed the waitress, all she did was say Im sorry and took it away. She didnt offer a replacement, management didnt acknowledge it or offer compensation of any kind.... nothing more was said or done as we paid our bill. We werent looking for a free meal but I think it could have been handled with a more sincere apology.
One star is generous given our experience.Long (40 minutes plus) wait for food. No communication given. Food was not good. Server was nice and he was trying but kitchen staff needs to be retrained or replaced.
Great small diner, friendly waiting staff, great atmosphere. The cook always makes time to come out and talk to customers. Its a little hidden gemstone in Affton. Prices are low for a huge portions, you will always go home with leftovers. My boyfriend and I ate there for both of us under 15 dollars. Great place go check it out.
This place is kind of nasty, old food re-served. STAY AWAY. The competitor across the parking lot is a good place to eat though.
AFFTON DINER HAS BECOME A HANGOUT OF MINE. THE FOOD IS ALMOST ALWAYS GREAT. THE SERVICE IS FAST THE PEOPLE AND THE OWNER ARE VERY FRIENDLY. LAST TIME I WAS THERE I ORDERED THE COWBOY. THE MEAT WAS SO GREASY IT ALMOST MADE ME SICK.I MENTIONED IT TO THE WAITRESS AND SHE SAID IM SORRY DIDNT OFFER A REPLACEMENT OR A DISCOUNT OFF THE CHECK ALSO ONE OF THE WAITRESSES WAS WEARING A PAIR OF RIPPED JEANS. WHILE THEY MAY BE FASHIONABLE ITS NOT SOMETHING I WOULD EXPECT IN A BUSINESS
We walked in, only to be rudely greeted by the server. You can sit down, but it will be 15 minutes before I get to you. First off, there is only 8-10 tables there. A good waiter would have sat us and explained there is a wait, kindly lol.

Service was terrible. Got charged for items we didnt order. Food was subpar and was not described well. There are plenty of better options in the area(Courtesy Diner, Breakfast and Burgers) that are far superior. Will not be going back

This is a wonderful restaurant. Casual family type atmosphere, great too, huge portion sizes, friendly owner and staff. This has become my go to neighborhood restaurant.
1st visit was not good, bacon looked like a plate of wet worms almost transparent in other words raw and limp. Eggs are an art, you can’t just throw down an egg and wait till it’s crispy around the edges, I ordered over medium! Potato’s are almost idiot proof unless they taste like dirty grill! Actually disgusted. The waitress was young, energetic and attentive so I paid and tipped her but ain’t coming back! She needs to be working somewhere worthy of her talents, this ain’t the place.
One of the best diners Ive ever eaten at. Friendly, extremely fast service and all the food is good ole fashioned home cooking. The burgers are great, the meatloaf is the bomb, the chili is amazing and the salads are fantastic. If you have a special dietary request, they will accommodate. I eat here every single week. Everytime we bring someone new with us, they become Affton Diner regulars.

Its an awesome place to watch your table eat food as they forgot to cook mine not one but two Saturdays in a row. So if youre wanting to gamble on getting food this is the place to be.
This just isnt the place for me. The place itself is not bad, and food isnt bad its just not what i expected.
Horrible service. Really upsets me because we went there before and it was awesome. Over 30 minutes for our food. Over charged on our check. It was just horrible.
We found 2 bugs in our food. Also the pancakes were hard so we asked them to make new ones and the new pancakes weren’t fully cooked because there was still raw dough when I started to cut into the pancake. Then after we asked to speak to the manager and they said that they had left when we saw him right before we left. The food was very expensive and I wouldn’t recommend it at all to anybody.

We sat down and were immediately greeted and brought drinks. So far, so good! Once we ordered our breakfast, things took a turn. It was 30 minutes before anyone came to ask if we needed a refill or update us on the status of our food. Wait staff continued to take orders and even served food to tables that had been seated well after our order was placed. I spoke with our waiter and was assured she would have the food out in a couple of minutes. 10 more minutes passed without a word said to us while they continued to take orders. We walked out. This may be an isolated incident, but they werent that busy and our order was pretty standard for breakfast. Definitely wont be back.
Had 4 tables already seated when we walked in, were told to sit where ever we wanted. One waitress was cashing out and other was getting stuff at other tables, after about 5-10 minutes of sitting there, girl who was cashing out goes over to the other and asked her if she got our drink order yet,then she comes over,asks what we want to drink, gets the drinks and says other girl will be with you as soon as can and she leaves. Finally other girl comes over, apologizes and takes our order. Got an omelette and a wrap, took about 20 minutes; another 2 tables come in during this time, still only one girl for all; saw one other person a guy cleaning tables; poor girl is having to do orders, take payments and deliver food to all of the tables, cook starts calling out orders ready and girl delivers. Shes in the middle of taking orders and cook starts calling out orders and gets upset because he has to say it about 5 times in a matter of 5-6 minutes because shes busy. Food was okay, salty but think that may have been the ham in the omelette and wrap, big portion. Really should have more than one person at the front or the guy could have been doing drink order delivery
