I love coming here because the food is yum and the people are very nice and friendly. The prices are a little expensive, but some of the food is well worth it. For example, their pumpkin cheesecake was to die for. Seriously. It was so delicious, I wanted to marry it, lol. Will definitely buy more pumpkin cheesecake. =)

Went there today for the first time and really liked the place. Really no other grocery stores in the area with this much selection. A bit pricey but you can find some bargains there. I was only going there for a couple things but wound up with an armful of stuff and the manager was kind enough to get me a shopping cart. Had a pleasant experience and will go back again.

Maybe it is my upbringing to root for the underdog, but I am pro-Ypsilanti. Join, participate and shop the Ypsilanti Food Co-op Sadly, lifetime membership is more costly than Ann Arbor and you must have more pocket change to shop here, prices are competitive but not cheap. My Utopian dream of the ideal food Co-op, where everyone is warm, compassionate and friendly - its just a dream. I’ve volunteered at this Ypsilanti cooperative and no big deal, don’t stop & chat just get your groceries; but let me tell you, I’ve been treated worse at the Ann Arbor Co-op, like” oh another “woke” poc, “so what!” I shop at both Co-ops because of the missions and premise. I do not allow the human element from stopping me in making correct choices. After all, isn’t it how we react to what life deals us?

By far the most excellent small grocery store in Southeast Michigan. YFC has an extensive stock for its size -- I am able to do 95% of my regular shopping here. Many complain that organic food is too expensive, but I started shopping here as a single mom precisely because the bulk food offerings are SO extensive and SO cheap. They have *everything* from flour to herbs to pasta to popcorn to beans to honey, baking soda, salt, bouillon, & granola -- ALL in bulk. If you shop the bulk aisle and fresh produce, YFC can be very economical. You can also bring your own containers and thus lessen plastic waste. YFC also has an exceptional in-house bakery -- in addition to yummy bread, scones, sweets & baked goods, they also usually have pie crusts & frozen bread dough. Lastly, YFC has the best deal anywhere on hot, organic, fair trade coffee to go -- $1.00 per cup!

Not what I expected, the prices were higher than the other stores where I go by far, but maybe it was me thinking a co-op was supposed to be lower prices then other stores but I was wrong.

I love this store and their variety of things in such a small building. The bulk spices/herbs are organic and high quality. Theyre well priced, the rest of the store is just a little pricey, which is why I only gave 4 stars. Its not a regular stop for me, but I will go out of my way to come here to buy the spices and bulk cat nip. The staff is always super friendly! Seems like itd be a fun place to work.

I could stand inside the Ypsi Food Coop for hours and just soak in all the great smells. One of the things I love about shopping here is that I feel like I can trust the quality of each and every product... I don’t have to think about whether or not my food is safe. Additionally, the homemade bread is incredible. The rustic sourdough is a must. The daily soups are incredible, and the beer selection has anything you might need.

This is a quaint and essential grocery shoppe that has a variety of healthy and organic foods. They have a bulk foods area and a hot soup station with fresh bread. There is a fresh vegetable area, fresh baked goods and an icecream section all featuring local growers and businesses. The pantry area has great healthy choices, including cleaning and toiletries that are green friendly. The dairy section had a nice variety of fresh cheeses and yogurts. Overall, if you didnt want to drive to a large supermarket and wanted to just grab a few ingredients or plan a meal, this is ideal shopping! The staff is very pleasant and helpful. The coop membership is optional, but definitely worth joining.

Local and regional organic foods with some national brands and even a few imported items like fruit, depending on the season. A little more expensive than a big supermarket for some items, but very comparably priced for most items. Decent selection of bulk dry-goods like pasta, beans, flours, rice and other grains, tea, coffee and spices. The parking lot is TINY with only 3 spots, but theres parking on the street and you can even park behind the building in a pinch. They have an in-house, solar-powered bakery and make fresh soup, salads and a few other things every day. Theres also a real honeybee hive in the alley (Honeybee Alley) to the right of the entrance that they actually harvest honey from.

Great little local food Co-op. As youd expect, the prices are higher and the selection more limited than a chain grocer, but staff are always nice and theyre willing to carry anything you need if they can find a supplier for it, just ask! Great bulk dry foods and they always carry some harder-to-find ingredients for vegetarian, gluten-free or other special diets. However, that would have only got them 4 stars. The fifth star up there? Thats for the sourdough their bakery makes. Especially the cheddar jalepeño sourdough over the summer. Amazing.

Parking can be tricky, there is a tiny little parking lot and otherwise the street (which people going to other places also take up). The aisles are a bit crowded, but they carry a lot of stuff that is quite hard to find elsewhere (even at other specialty/health stores). If I recall correctly, they sell memberships to the co-op, but you dont have to have a membership to shop there. I think it gives you a discount...

I love the products at this store and I love the building. However, I do not love the staff. They are often rude and look as if they are bothered by my presence. Every time I go to checkout, they are either talking to other staff members or blatantly ignoring me. I always have to say something to get their attention. Most of them dont look you in the eye or smile, either. I continue to go to this store for its great products (especially the bulk herbs), but they could really improve on their customer service.
