I cant say enough great things about our experience with Dana and Mark at the Wixom location. My husband and I went to just about every single warehouse in southeast Michigan and we would do it all over again just to end up at Cutting Edge. Dana and Mark treated us like family from the moment we walked through the door. We walked the isles with Dana and she gave us honest and great information with every question we had. We had two of our four children with us and Mark was able to keep our 4yr old entertained while Dana helped us and that made the process for us so much easier. Just that small act of kindness from Mark to our son helped ease some of the stress weve been through during this whole process.Now with that being said, lets get the good stuff. Cutting Edge has a great selection in house to choose from. From high-end to affordable, but still really nice. Their prices are very reasonable and the best around. Terrible quality. Unprofessional, unskilled installers. They shimmed between the countertop and the cabinet, ruining the cabinets underneath. They wouldnt return a single call and now we are filling a small claims suit. Even Google knows not to shim between the counter and the cabinet, how can you call yourselves professions? Hacks are what you are! Off to Yelp I go.

Sales process and timing was good.First install attempt failed, one pieces was 1 inch short.It take them one week to com back with the correct piece and do the final install.Most piece are resting on front (face frame) and the back of the cabinet.I am not a professional countertop installer or cabinet carpenter, but I do believe the weight should rest on the side walls of the cabinets.

The installation was great and we are very pleased with our countertops. The only issue we had was timing. On 2 occasions the expected arrival times where 2pm to 5pm. Both times the installers showed up at 6pm. Wasted 2 afternoons waiting for them to arrive. Once they got here everything was great

I cannot express how disappointed I am with Cutting Edge Countertops!:(At the end of April, I paid a 50% deposit for my job, and was advised that I would be contacted in early June regarding my measurement and installation appointments. On June 7, after not hearing anything from Cutting Edge, I called and left a message asking for an update. I got an apologetic return call following day, saying that my order had gotten lost in purgatory and was never scheduled. Fortunately, they were able to slip me in to the schedule - my measurement appt was set for June 15 and installation on June 29. Great!When the measurement tech got here on June 15, the first thing he asked was whether I would be handling the tear out (of the old counters) myself? NO? OK, thats an additional $600. You have a bartop, but youll need brackets to support the overhang - those are $120 each, and youll need 4 of them. Both of these details were discussed with Dana at the Wixom store when I set up my job! Why wasnt this included in my price?This smells remarkably like a bait and switch operation. Since I did not agree to pay for these extras, the measurement tech left without doing anything.Will I ever get my deposit back?

Counter is beautiful and the guys that put it in were very quick. The reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is we had a few issues with the measurements but in the end they got it right. I would use them again.

We have remodeled four kitchens in the past 25 years, so we were bracing for weeks of mess, work delays, and hidden costs. WOW!!! As requested, by your website, I scheduled an appointment with Dana to discuss my bathroom re-design. She took the time to walk me around the warehouse, share thoughts, guide me towards various options, and share information regarding the different types of materials. Her experience and professionalism helped me to pick a Granite countertop that was ideal for my project. Once chosen, she pulled up the inventory and assisted me in choosing the exact piece of Granite that would be used to create my countertop. The measurer showed up on the date and at the time scheduled. Gary and Gary arrived for the install. They were very professional and pretty funny. I was surprised at how quickly they were able to install the countertop. Thank you for providing such a great experience.

The four star rating is based primarily on the installation. When we went to look at their showroom in late April, their staff was very helpful. The product turned out almost exactly as we imagined, and the person who came to measure was meticulous. The aspects that did detract from the process involved what I perceived as honesty, and some minor installation issues (I will have to re-caulk the wall seams as it is incomplete in more than half of the kitchen). As for the honesty, we were scheduled as the first afternoon delivery. They called at approximately 8:30 am saying they were 30 minutes away, which was quite a surprise. Fortunately, I had taken the day off of work so I didnt have to rush home. When they got to the house they backed in, opened the trucks back door, and then someone came to tell me they forgot a part, and had to go back to get it. My assumption is that they realized they were at the wrong house, and they could have told me that. I asked when they would be back, or how long it was to go back to where the part was, and they said they dont know, but theyll call me. Sure enough, I received a call around 1:30 pm telling me they were 30 minutes away. At no point did they address this, and for me that is a significant concern. I would have had no problem if they went to the wrong house and told me, but had I not taken the day off of work I would have say for four hours waiting for them to get that ever important part needed to install countertops.

Ordered a quartz end cap from Cutting Edge Countertops based on a recommendation from my interior designer. Emailed them a sketch on 17 January 2020. Discussed the order by telephone with Dana who took my order and credit card info. Was told the small piece (3 x 25) would be done within two weeks. On 15 February I contacted Dana again and asked for an update on my order. After a week I was told the order had been somehow misplaced but was being expedited for delivery. Cutting Edge Countertops subsequently sent me three incorrect final drawings for approval. I pointed out the errors on their final drawing and received a corrected drawing on their fourth try. I approved the corrected drawing that now matched my original sketch from mid-January on 27 February and was told the piece would be ready on 28 February. I then called on Friday, 28 February and was told my end cap was ready and I could pick it up. However, when I arrived I immediately saw that one critical chamfer had been cut incorrectly. I pointed out to them where the part they made did not match their own approved drawing. So I am still waiting on my order after prepaying and waiting six weeks.Update: Picked up the end cap on 7 March and installed it. The piece finally meets the overall dimensions but the edge radius has a distinct edge break where it meets the top surface instead of the smooth transition the rest of my countertops have. Not really noticeable unless I run my finger along the edge. Tired of driving out to Wixom to deal this. So my one star rating of Cutting Edge Countertops stands as earned.

Just had our new quartz countertops and sink installed and so far so good. Mark, my salesperson, was easy to work with and helped me stay within my budget. The installers, Gary and Lance did a great job, it fits and looks beautiful. I would recommend to anyone!

Well, we are in the process of getting granite counter-tops with this company. Our experience started out great, with a courteous sales person Keith who was willing to work with us and in our budget. Unfortunately, after making the decision in the show room it went down hill from there. First, we were not told of some extras that needed to be done given our design preference. The GM made good on that and discounted the extras as we were not informed of them in the showroom. Then, we had a measure scheduled and apparently the measure tech got sick. Problem is no one called us, and both my wife and I lost a half day at work. They rescheduled for the following day and again a no show. No calls to inform us of them being tied up and after my repeated attempts to get an answer (waiting on hold for 40 minutes at a time - not an exaggeration), I finally gave up. I will update this post if this company rectifies the situation and we get our granite installed. So far, my wife and I in total are out 2 full days of work. Given that she is a teacher, this is quite problematic.

We are SO happy with our new vanity top in our master bath! Everyone is so attentive and extremely professional at Surface Encounters in Wixom MI. It was one of the best experiences Ive had with a company. They took care of things like I would have were it my own company! From the sales to measure to installation everything went without a hitch. They let me know when they were on their way to my home and the installation went perfect and left my home in perfect condition. I have not seen that often! My walls are intact :) And Im so happy! We will be back for two more baths and a kitchen!

In general, they were fantastic. The end product was great, and the costs and fees were very straight-forward and nothing was a surprise when the dotted line was signed at the end of the day.The only thing that could have gone better was the process, specifically with communication and scheduling. There were a few times I needed to reschedule because I was coordinating delivery of our sink and oven around the time of the measure, and the woman on the phone seemed to have a hard time understanding what I was trying to communicate many times, and also the time that she gave for the measuring and the actual install were far from the times that actually occurred when the day came.The install, for example, occurred very late and the men were in our house past 10pm. It was also the weekend, and I do not believe that they should have had to work those kind of hours, nor be in our house at that hour, especially if it had been only my wife home. I had no idea what time they would show up, until they were on the way. I thought maybe they had forgotten our job, since they were supposed to arrive around 4.However, I give kudos for them trying to get the job done when they say they will, which is remarkably pretty fast.

When we walked in the door in Wixom, we were greeted, and they took the time to explain everything to us. We were then left to browse, and ask questions if needed. The way I like to shop. No high pressure. We made some selections, and got pricing. Wow! came in in under budget. From there everything went exactly as scheduled. Great installers. Took great pains to keep the mess down to minimum. When they were finished, they took time to explain everything, and answer any questions we had. The plumber showed up early, and did an excellant job . If your are looking for granite, or quartz, I dont know why you would go anywhere else. Selecting new countertop material can be so stressful: Will it look as good in my house as it does in the store? Have I considered all the possible materials and considered my specific needs appropriately? How long will it take? What if theres a problem?As it turns out, Cutting Edge checked all the boxes with gusto on our lastest bathroom project. Dana St. Pierre helped me through the maze of materials over the course of several visits. She never pressured or even tried to persuade, she just provided information. Even though the timing of our readiness for the countertop, shower curb, and shower bench were pretty vague, she lined us up with remnant bits to save money.The measurment guy was great - sorry I dont know his name - but he was fast and professional. He ensured that all of the parts fit perfectly when they arrived.Unfortunately, my husband broke the shower curb. (Note to self: when moving very long pieces of granite, get multiple people or some wood to support the full length...) Anyway, they expedited a new piece (yay!), but when we went to install it, it was too long (argh!), so they sent Gary Sienko to our house in under an hour (wow!) to fix the length. As a bonus, Gary helped us get the re-sized piece of granite safely to its installed location.Full stars for professional, friendly, and customer-focused service!Oh, and I love the granite too!

I ordered top of the line countertops from Home Depot. Cutting Edge Countertops have all the accounts associated with Home Depot. The process started out all right. A young man came into our home with all this high tech laser measuring devices to properly measure the countertops. He took the measurement and the model number of my faucet which is a requirement to have at the time of measuring. The Installation crew showed up and installed the countertops as requested and it looked nice. The next day my plumber came over to install the faucet and it would not fit because it was drilled improperly.. I had to pay the plumber not only to show up but had to drive over to Home Depot to get another kitchen faucet. The store did give me one free charge. I had already bought one on amazon that I could not return and am stuck with because of their mistake. They charge you top dollar for all the extras that do not cost them anything to install and when they make a mistake they do not want to reimburse you for the trouble and extra costs you have to pay because of their mistakes. I did call Cutting Edge countertops and never received a response although I was told someone would be contacting me. It is terrible customer service with a company that has a pretty good product line. An extra 250 to install a sink that takes 10 minutes is crazy. The installation crew took the faucet that I had at installation and told me they had to test it to make sure it works. I saw the guy take the faucet and stick it in the pre drilled hole and stick it right back in the box. If he knew it was not going to fit he should have taken care of this or said something right there and now. instead the employee said nothing even though he knew their was a problem. It should not cost the customer and extra several hundred dollars more to pay for careless mistakes made by the installation company. Cutting edge has no follow up on customer service . cutting edge has no response for their mistakes except silence and the hopes that others will leave them 5 star ratings to cover up for their lower ratings .

Terrible experience! From the start until the end! In the show room its nice, and goes down from there! Worst experience ever! They said the manager would call to talk about it and never heard from him. So apparently doesnt care. Once they have your money your screwed! The granite came with a 4 ft. Scratch and they said they could sand it out. When they sanded it they left a dark streak down the whole slab. Had someone else come to get that out. There was glue all over the floor from their shoes that they tracked all over our new ceramic tile. Took my husband an hour to get out with goof off . Would never recommend them to anyone! Steer clear!!!

We installed the granite counter top with Surface Encounters. Overall very good experience with them. I got one of the very competitive quote from Surface Encounters. Rob is very good in explaining the products and prompt in returning my calls and email for all the questions I had. The store experience is very good as well. Only thing is the earliest time we got for the installation is almost a month away. But the installation is done with in 3 hours. They did a clean job, but not a 100% (some grout caulking needs to be done by ourselves and need to fix a small gap between the granite and support on one side). Definitely I recommend to check with Surface Encounters when you do your shopping for counter-top installations.

The person who came out to measure was very professional and answered all of our questions before the installation. The two installers were courteous, paid special attention to the existing walls so as not to leave any marks or dents, and installed the counters to the exact specifications. The plumber arrived the next day, as promised, to connect all of the plumbing. In each step of the process, the contractors called us in advance to let us know of their arrival time. They were all very knowledgeable, professional, and did excellent work. We would definitely go back to work with Rob A. for future projects.

We had Surface Encounter installed granite countertops in the bathrooms few years ago. We recently went back to the showroom in Wixom, and found that it has a new named Cutting Edge Countertops . The staff(Heidi) was very helpful . We decided to have them install a granite countertop in a laundry area. It was a small job but the staff were glad to accept the job. The crew who came to our house - Ben, Gary, Lance and David - measured, installed and plumbing connection. Theyd all done excellent jobs. We highly recommend this company.

We had quartz countertops installed in our kitchen and are very happy with the whole process from ordering, to scheduling, to installation. The install team of Gary, Cole, and Jayden did a great job.

I was very pleased with the installation that Surface Encounters did on my kitchen counter tops. The installers were very professional, clean, through, and did a great job. Our salesman Rob Alessandrini out of the Wixom location was great. I would use them again.

After going threw Home Depot and Lowe’s and going to look at countertops several times we Went to Cutting Edge and Dana in the Wixom store with my intended backsplash and color or cabinets and she suggested a counter top Thunder White but she didn’t have a piece to show me. She said it would look beautiful. Showed me a picture of it and we bought it almost eight unseen. Wow am I extremely happy with it. They worked hard to get countertops installed quickly and they were very friendly. I would recommend them again in a heartbeat. GREAT JOB CUTTING EDGE COUNTERTOPS INC!!!

Lack of communication. They didnt schedule measure when promised. Didnt come to measure when promised. We bought our sinks from them but nobody told the installers so they didnt bring them. The installer was frustrated by having to return and damaged a wall and a couple of drawers on our brand new cabinets. The actual granite looks nice but I would not recommend this company.

We are very happy with the granite counter tops we got from Cutting Edge. Eric & Major were very professional with the installation of the tops. We would recommend Cutting Edge to anyone.

There was a younger guy installing our countertops that was very professional and seemed to know a lot and he was great to work with. If I could remember his name I would recommend him. One of the installers however, a heavyset man with glasses, smelled horrible, so much so that I had to remove myself from the room. I was also disturbed to have noticed him watching porn on his cell phone during the installation of our countertops. This was the second time we have had them install, and it really seems to be hit or miss who you get doing it. Stone selection was nice though and overall we ended up happy.

Awful customer service. I was told my the sales person that if I went with any other company, my counter top would look awful and that cutting edge was superior to all others. My budget was on the lower end and I have a smaller kitchen. Once the sales lady found this out she couldnt be bothered with me. She was condescending to me the entire time and made remarks that left me and my husband feeling off about this company. My mother also tried to use this company and experienced the same feelings with this sales person. I picked out a piece of granite at $40/square foot, but some how the final estimate ended up being more expensive than three other companies that quoted me at $42/square foot. Needless to say I drove 2 minutes down the road and found a different company that would fit my needs, my budget, and was extremely friendly.

Over the last couple of weeks I notices a bit of the “Granite” moved at the split …. I called your office in Wixom and found out that Surface Encounters was now Cutting Edge and had a quick call with you. You wanted me to take a picture and send a copy to you for your feedback ….Of course, as time went by and I forgot to take a picture for a week – I then remembered and sent you a copy the next few days. I then received a call from your service routing and discussed a possible date & Time. “Excellent Call and planning”I was traveling for a few days and then home with Monday off work – I was able to schedule time in the late afternoon for “Mikey” to come out and reviewix the issue.Wonderful conversation with Mikey and connection as to the timeline - 😊He showed up at my home and realized that he was the install person back in 2012!!! Excellent we chatted 😊He was amazing – knew exactly how to loosen up the seam and reline the granite and reseal ……. Arrogant, rude and discourteous. My wife and I walked in for a quote and instead of being listened to were spoken at about how big of a company they were, how they had 19 5 star reviews on Google, how bad the guys down the road are and how I shouldnt worry about measuring myself thats something engineers get all worked up about, we just handle the whole thing with lasers and its done.He insulted any idea I suggested (reusing existing sink, backsplash, etc), when he actually bothered to hear a couple words I said.I wish I could tell you his name so you wouldnt have to deal with him, but he never bothered to give it. So do yourself a favor and avoid the place entirely.

Mark was our sales man and he was very helpfull in picking out our counter for the master bath,he also help us in picking out the guess bath counter,we will be doing a kitchen and another guess bath counter soon and will be using Mark again.

Terrible experience. Avoid AVOID AVOID. The only good part of the experience was Surface Encounters salesperson Keith, he reels you in hook, line, and sinker. Makes you feel like you are in good hands.It all started with the initial appointment: measuring your in home countertops. The tech showed up late... this would be a reoccurring issue with the installers. When the 2 younge lads arrived they were hasty to get the job done. At the end of the rushed install (because ours was last on the list to do for the day because now it was a small job) I was asked to critique the job and fill out a review. I wrote down poor cuts and surface scratches on the review which I was not happy with. Installer Mike told me they would send someone to buff out the scratches. Never heard back from anyone.Now the real deal break. Fast forward 3 months later - Wednesday night before thanksgiving. So I get this wonderful call while Im working the midnight shift, which I have to leave work... My wife is giving our infant son (12lbs at the time) a bath in the sink with an inch or two of water. The sink collapses and detaches from the counter top. Luckily our son was not injured, but hes traumatized of the sink and bathing now. All of the plumbing broke from the weight of the sink/water which spilled enough water to drain down into my basement. Guess who got to clean all of that up..Now look whos without a kitchen sink to ruin Thanksgiving dinner... not only Thursday, Friday, Saturday Sunday.. because you can guess who was all closed up over the holiday.. oh you guessed it - Surface Encounters.Call them at 9:01am Monday when they open. The lady says oh youre the third person to call this morning with a collapsed sink. We will have to call you back to setup an appointment to come out to fix it. No. Not after the 5 days Ive endured of not having a functioning kitchen. Remember folks you lose your dishwasher too because thats tied into your sink plumbing and that all came apart when the sink crashed down. So after I get disconnected on hold and a couple more calls I drive up there to find Keith again with customers. To which I shouldve said to them, dont do it. But here I am waiting patiently thinking SE will set this straight.Hehe, I basically have to beg Keith for help... he doesnt seem to understand. He cant call and talk to anyone else I already talked to...Folks, if you design something to hold x amount of something at Max capacity.. it better hold it. Guess what, they didnt put the sink strap on which secures it in place and will help hold any significant amount of weight. Just using the all purpose kitchen adhesive to bond a sink to granite is a no no.They just couldnt understand WHY and I quote them customers call every year after thanksgiving with their sinks caved in. Because people are putting 15-20lb turkeys in their sinks!!! Rocket science I tell you folks.So I walk out of the store tail between my legs. Guess who calls me not 10 minutes later, customer service. They want to come out tomorrow, Tuesday to put the sink back up into place, and then come out Wednesday the following day to put the plumbing back in place. Folks this is out of control... a week without any help...After multiple calls and begging them to get it done they finally had it all wrapped up Tuesday afternoon. There were no apologies, calls, roses of sympathy... anything.Dont do it.
