I feel like Ive been taken advantage of. I took my Chevrolet 2500 to Cottman transmission back in June. They kept it for over 2 weeks. It was never right. After paying $2800The truck had a huge delay going into reverse and finally the reverse failed. I took it back and they kept it another week and didnt fix it. Said they couldnt find anything wrong. I took it back and they kept it 3 more weeks and another $600 dollars. So my work truck was down for 6 weeks, $3400, and it still has a delay going to reverse and shifts like a Mac truck.

While being aggravated that my transmission was acting up. I had my vehicle towed to the transmission shop, and from there the magic happened. They test drove my vehicle, analyzed the problem, came up with the solution, and gave me the peace of mind, that they would rebuild the transmission to be as good as new. On top of that they even stand behind their work and offer a guarantee. Now that how you do business. Would not hesitate to send all of my transmission work or friends to them. Great job.

I drove in with a major leak coming from the transmission of a 2008 Honda Civic I had just purchased. I did not have an appointment, but Minor, the manager, worked me in. They had many cars and trucks on their lot, but he put mine right up on the lift. After inspecting it for an hour he came in and said I owed him a whopping $63! They found two bolts that had been loosened, but not sure why. They tightened them and assured me it was fixed. They were very nice and what impressed me was their honesty and willingness to help me. I brought it back a couple more times for something leaking I thought was still the transmission and they took me right in, The second time they put it up on the lift they brought me in the shop and showed me that the transmission was dry and the leak was from my A/C….lol🙄!The guys are very nice, patient and honest. I would go back to them for any drive train work I needed for any of my vehicles!

The manager ran a bait and switch on me. He told me a price to rebuild my transmission and followed it by it probably will be cheaper. He talked me into signing an agreement to check my transmission. The price went from 2300 to 4000. I had to pay 895 to take my truck to another shop who rebuilt my transmission for 2400. This business is crooked.

I took my car there for a warranty replacement They done a real good job I would highly recommend them.

I love using Cottmans transmission on University in Winston. Minor is always willing to help me out no matter what odd jobs need done on my truck. They have always been professional and honest and the military disount is also wonderful. I would recommend this place every time.

I basically blew my transmission and had to bring it in to be rebuilt. While my transmission is annoying to work on Minor and his team took time and care to rebuild it for me in the best possible way they could. They were straight forward with how things were going and honest if struggles arose with the process. The honesty shone will definitely have me as a return customer if it comes down to me needing a transmission rebuilt ever again.

Miner and the crew at Cottman did a great job rebuilding the transmission from my 93 jeep wrangler! Great price, great workmanship, and fast turn around on my transmission!Had another great experience with Miner and the guys at Cottman Transmission with my 06 Tahoe. They got it fixed quick and back on the road!

Would NEVER recommend this place. All I needed was to know what was wrong with my transmission. I was told I needed a battery. Got a battery then was told I needed an alternator. Took my car from them and the side hustle mechanic let me know within 5 minutes under my hood that I need a cylinoid. Oh yeah they had my car from Thursday until Monday before I was told about the battery. They were trying to get over on me but Im smarter then that. Oh and they charged me $113 to swap out the battery that I brought. Total rip off. How are they still in business?

Paid them to fix my car and check engine light was still on. took my car to another shop to fix the mistakes they made and didnt want to fix.

They over charged me and did not fix the problem. They gave me three different prices, and in the end charged me over $ 1,300.00 and did not resolve the resolve the issue. They made it out to be my fault, knowing that was a lie. I would not recommend them, nor will I ever use them going forward.

Very good. Transmissions are all plastic gears and when it gets hot $. They put it on the rack and told me what, how much and when.They spent 30 minutes on my transmission and didnt charge me. I definitely recommend cottman transmissions.

Had my truck 3 different times for over 6 weeks total to replace a sensor, seals and gasket, a torque converter and after their technician cracked my flexplate, I had to have that replaced also. They did cover the labor on the flexplate to their credit ( which points to why it happened in the first place). But after getting it back from that..transmission still leaked..and was missing bolts it had when it arrived at their shop. I took it back the same day and they took care of it. 2 weeks later the transmission still leaks fluid and still have bolts missing!!! Even after pointing out exactly which bolts were missing. So I relayed all this to a text I received asking how my truck was and was promptly asked to fill out a Google review..be careful what you ask for..and be very careful about doing business with this company..they do not stand behind their words or their work!

I get off work very late but I was still able to drop my car off with their convenient key dropoff. Left my key and a note, and they started on it immediately the next day. They installed a brand new transmission in my car and kept me up to date with everything every step of the way with frequent calls. I was even asked to come back in 2 weeks just to make sure everything is still in good shape. My car drives like a dream. I am definitely recommending Cottmans to anyone willing to listen!

Our experience with Cottman has been nothing but great. We have used them for transmission work on our 2000 van the service is always polite, caring and professional. They did a great job. My son needed transmission work done to his car and they did an awesome job for him. When other car issues come up we always call Susan who is the manger. Every time we have used Cottman we were pleased with the work provide. We highly recommend this place of business to other . Susan is very pleasant and concern with giving you the best deal and doing a great job. We are now letting them put a motor in our vehicle, I am not one to normal do comments but I believe they are worth commenting about.

I was extremely satisfied with our experience at Cottman Transmission on University. Susan couldnt do a better job of running the show at Cottman. She organizes and handles everything with ease, knowledge and a real sense of care for her customers. Susan repeatedly went outside the typical customer service standards to make sure we were always aware of what was happening with our car and was wonderful to work with. Cottman continued to work on our car until everything was just right and it was running smoothly. Easiest 5-star review I’ve ever given! My car broke down while I was in town on business and Susan (the store manager) was so helpful in making sure I was back on the road the same day. She even took me to Taco Bell when she realized I hadn’t eaten lunch yet and it would be another hour or so until my car was ready.After a couple of hours of work on my rusted out lines, they were able to give me a temporary fix so I could at least get home. And they didn’t charge me a penny, even for the labor! I will definitely be going to their Charlotte location for the permanent fix I need! These are good people!

My experience was amazing at Cottman . From the minute I called them I was told to bring my car down right away and they would look at it . Two other places had my vehicle before I brought it to Cottman, and it sat at their garage untouched for three weeks! Cottman evaluated my vehicle the same day ! The manager Susan did a thorough follow up call explaining what needed to be done, and kept me informed throughout the whole process of my car being serviced here. She was very helpful and knowledgable ! The garage staff were extremely clean cut and friendly as well. I am going here for all my vehicles needs from now on. My Husband and I were beyond satisfied !

Spoke with Susan Jenkins the manager there. She seemed very nice at first! She even let know how other mechanics where ripping me off! So...naturally I thought that I could trust her!!So...I needed wheel bearing and hubs. My warranty was about to end in less than a month. She really knew what to say and do in regards to these warranty companies! So...she got the warranty company to agree to pay!Got my car fixed or at least I thought I did?? Less than a week later the noise returned! She said that it could be the other wheel! I was wondering why since she had my warranty which has since expired...didnt she take care of this? But when I went to several other mechanics they all informed of the poor quality of worksmanship I received from Cottman Transmission!! I had to pay to have same wheel bearings on the same wheel fixed!! I will never visit there again except to tell her a peace of my mind!!!P.S...didnt want to rate that one star but I had no other choice!!

I was highly disappointed! We went there 2 times paid over $1,000 didn’t fix the problem. Took it to someone else did it for half that and fixed the problem!! So this place is a rip off!!

I loved this place and would not go anywhere else for years but to my dismay and shock Susan is not there anymore. She was the glue that held that place together I feel like so Im not so sure I can trust this place with my vehicle anymore. If she comes back so will I! Mayday mayday somebody bring Susan back!

I did not have my car serviced there. I had been told by 2 other respected transmission service centers in the area that my trans needed replacing. The experienced front desk professional lady test drove and ran diagnostics and said the trans did not show any issues. She noted the vibration I was concerned with but she said it was not trans. Since then by chance we found a bad bushing and the vibration is gone. Although I did not have my car serviced there I relayed my experience to others and...if I ever need service I will only go to cottmans.

They are the rudest most disrespectful people I’ve ever met. My car was returned with more check engine lights on when I picked it up than there was when I dropped it off... and they drained the fluid and didn’t put it back in it... they are despicable

Susan was great! My daughter was headed out of state when the transmission went, they picked up the car and gave my daughter a ride to her friends and then picked her up when the car was fixed.Great experience with Susan and the crew, would definitely recommend!

Lacking good communication, they do good service but I was confused about what all they actually did until I got the itemized bill. Need to be more clear with customer- what we did and what we recommend.

I came here last year with an 05 maxima with a failing transmission. Susan (the manager) was very helpful and kept me in the loop throughout the whole time my car was in the shop. This is the only shop I come to for transmission jobs because they specialize in it

They were gonna charge me $300 dollars for a part that they said they needed to order. Went to a different shop and it was fixed in 2 minutes for free. Not pleased.

I read the reviews for just about every place in town - Google, Yelp, Angies List, Facebook, Customer Lobby, etc. By far, this place had the best reputation and so I made an appointment. As I feared, it was the T-word, the word nobody likes to hear - TRANSMISSION. Susan, the office manager, explained the problem completely & clearly as well as the repair options. I left the car in their hands and 2 days later, it was ready. Sadly, the engine light came on before I even left their parking lot and there was a burning smell too. The shop was closed but I called anyway and Susan answered. She apologized for the inconvenience and assured me that theyd get it resolved the following morning. The next morning, Susan called and explained their error (a cable that was not re-connected or something like that). She said it had been repaired and that they would extend the warranty on the work theyd done to make up for the frustration. Its now been several months and Ive had no problems with my car. Ive referred friends whove all had a favorable experience. A testament to their honesty, when I inquired about a tune-up, Susan told me it was too soon. Im now due for brake work and so I will be taking the car to Cottman again. I highly recommend them.

I change them 2 years ago for my 2005 Nissan Maxima and I came to them earlier this year for my 2006 Infiniti G35. As always Susan was a great help and kept me updated the entire time. I stopped by multiple times to check on my car and my rebuilt transmission was diagnosed, bought, put in and was ready in less than 2 weeks.

I cannot say enough good things about my experience with Cottman Transmission of Winston-Salem, but more specifically, Susan. This woman has gone out of her way to make my vehicle troubles much less of a hassle than I could ever imagine. When I first called Cottman/Susan about fixing my transmission, she gave me a lot of information other places didnt bother to give (Im sure she could tell I knew nothing about automobiles) then she gave me a quote and I thanked her, hung up, and continued to get more quotes. When I found another quote a little bit less expensive, I found myself calling her back to ask her about it because I was a bit skeptical. SHE IS JUST THAT TRUSTWORTHY! She gave me the information I needed and why she didnt trust a quote at that lowered price. I conferred with some people that do know a thing or two about vehicles, and they mimicked what she had said. Needless to say, I ended up going with Cottman and I am SO glad I did. That was a couple years ago and we havent had any trouble since with that transmission since then. In fact, I have come to rely upon Susan as a wealth of knowledge for all my auto questions, even if she (and Cottman) do not dabble in whatever issue I may have. She has helped me with multiple battery issues and other random vehicle mishaps over the last few years, knowing these issues would in no way benefit her or Cottman other than for me to say that COTTMAN HAS THE BEST CUSTOMER SERVICE IN TOWN! I have found this high level of service only at Nordstroms and FitBit, both which are known worldwide for their over-the-top customer service. Thanks to Susan and her competent team, I will never have to go anywhere else for my auto troubles again.

Did great job car runs fantastic

Terrible experience. My transmission locked up on my newer model Jeep, which was unexpected with only 90k miles. They recommended a full rebuild and I knew nothing so I went along with it. After more research I found out I was highly overcharged. Also, I get my Jeep back and it sounds horrible with a lot of grinding, there is a lot of hesitation, and it randomly would pop into neutral when in drive and reverse ( On an automatic). After multiple repeat visits complaining about all of this and mentioning how its under warranty ( this is all 2 weeks after getting it back), I loss confidence that they were competent enough to fix it. They seemed lazy as well, not wanting to actually open it up and correct any problems but instead insisted there was nothing wrong. So after trying for the 4th time, and buying multiple car rentals while they did nothing, I finally took it into the Jeep dealership and they asked who worked on it because it was all jacked up underneath. When I told them cottsman in winston they just laughed, saying this is not the first time they have seen their shoddy work. Multiple exhaust pieces had not been connected back properly causing vibration. None of these fixed the ultimate problem which is the transmission needs to be rebuilt again. So ultimately I wasted 5 grand on this place so if you ever get stranded dont have your car towed to the nearest transmission shopn on google maps like I did and take your time to have it towed to a more reputable place.

They had my car for two weeks just to put brakes on glad i have two car then to make matter worst my radio was stolen however my car had no forced entry of breaking an entering an they tell me there not responsible wen they left my doors unlocked. BAD BUSINESS!!!!

Horrible service my car was vandalized while it was at the shop and they took no responsibility for it.

Their service is terrible and the stole $554.00 from me claiming that they took out my transmission, diagnosed it and put it back in. The told me they were going to charge me $489.00 for labor only. Also any mechanic in this world can tell you that you do NOT have to remove a transmission to diagnose like that claimed. They are thieves and I would NEVER recommend anyone to them.
