They had me at Bone Marrow Bread Pudding!! Everything we ate was fantastic. Service was spot on and the menu is exactly right as are the prices....you absolutely get what you pay for. Ive never had a better bone in rib eye! Applause to the chef!!

A local recommended this restaurant for our wedding anniversary dinner. This is definitely a high end restaurant, a nice experience and loud atmosphere. I recommend making a reservation. The menu seems like it may be updated and entrees can change. I would definitely recommend this place for special occasions, they also have a butchery and additional goods to purchase from here as well.We got the caesar salad, wine, husband got a ribeye and Brussel sprouts. I was torn on which entree to choose, the server agreed that the yellow curry was very good. I’m so glad I got the curry it was delicious, I wasn’t sure if the vegan version would be enough protein for me and added chicken. The yellow curry by itself definitely doesn’t need anything added.

Absolutely an amazing experience from start to finish. Bread & butter with Bone Marrow bread pudding was phenomenal (I know, sounds weird, but it was delicious). Crab cake was rich and tasty. They have a well rounded wine selection to choose from and the martinis set us up nicely.The steaks were astoundingly good and cooked to perfection. I highly recommend the Potato Toasties, the Mac n Cheese, and the Roasted Mushrooms. Great portions for sharing and so yummy. Our server though, Chris, was what made dining at True Blue a most excellent time for us. He was knowledgeable, fun to chat with and just a wonderful accompaniment to our meal. Please visit, you will not be disappointed.

Sweet, efficient, and exactly what someone would hope for from a restaurant like True Blue. Fantastic night altogether.Atmosphere is great, food even better. This is a must try restaurant with so many amazing dishes! They have both a bar and restaurant area and an open kitchen concept. The menu is a little pricey but they do offer specials all the time. So check out their social media pages for that info. They offer catering for small and large groups. If you are expecting a normal steak house you will be in for a surprise! Chimichuri what is that? Delicious green heaven sauce. They are always coming up with amazing dining options and dont forget the cocktails! They have everything you can think of and make a great old fashioned.

Their own photos don’t do the restaurant justice; this is an upscale restaurant and bar with a good selection of steak and other entrees. We ate early as we had the kids with us, chose this restaurant after I’d seen it on Yelp a time or two and was curious. I don’t know that I would bring the kids again, but only because it’s too nice a place to waste on the little ones. Service was quite good, and since we were very early for dinner they had no trouble getting us fed and out within the time-frame permitted by two kids under 8 (without rushing us a bit).They have a nice separate bar as well, and a good array of house cocktails on the menu. Both that we tried were fantastic. While we did not end up ordering steaks, the appetizers and entrees were top notch. They take pride in the quality of their meats (you have to if “butcher” is in your name), so I want to come back to sample some of that fare. As it was, the salmon and pasta were great.A lot of the upscale feel came from the high quality service. Our waiter knew the menu and I was pleased that they had tasted their daily specials in advance so he could describe them from experience rather than a cue card. That goes a long way I think. Prices are probably on the high side for Wilmington restaurants, but in this case that’s not unreasonable. I look forward to a return trip.

Everything we had on our table was phenomenal. We were so impressed with the presentation and taste of each dish. We, as a party of 6, enjoyed so many dishes and sides. Two time winner. I have been to True Blue twice for dinner. Both times have been great evenings. The appetizers are top notch. The entrees are phenomenal. The wait staff is on top of things. The bourbon selection is in the top three in ENC (eastern NC). You are going to pay for the quality that you receive; however, in my opinion, well worth it.

I cannot recommend True Blue Butcher and Table enough! I recently ordered the Smash Grind Burger DIY Kit for delivery in Raleigh NC and Sarah took the best care of me! She answered all of my questions, found the best rates for shipping, and confirmed the items were received. I was so impressed with her customer service and willingness to help. The burgers and sides were DELICIOUS and Sarah was a dream. If youre looking for the perfect gift for family and friends, I highly recommend the DIY Kits. So delicious and easy to make. These guys only serve the best meats and fresh produce. I cant wait to visit Wilmington again soon to have dinner at True Blue! Thank you guys!

This was our favorite steakhouse in the Wilmington area. Had an amazing dinner here before and decided to celebrate our wedding anniversary, and come here again. The server was friendly and the staff was welcoming and all wished us a happy anniversary upon our arrival. The issue was that my wifes filet, and my ribeye came to the table raw - purple and cool in the middle. We waited for the steaks to come back out and ate our sides. The steaks came back- my wifes was boarder line raw, cool pink/purplish center -she ordered medium. Mine was still raw (purple/cool center-not pink). Im not that picky, and will eat a rare steak- but this was beyond rare, and I ordered medium rare. We sent it back again and by this time we werent hungry by the time they came back from waiting and eating the sides, else they would of been cold by the time the meat was served. I asked the wait staff to box the steaks. We were going to have desert too, but at this point, I felt like the night was ruined. I can see this happening at a lower chain steakhouse, but not at this tier or level. The manager came out and discounted the bill. The point is, the night we have been looking forward to for weeks cant be taken back and redone. Im incredibly disappointed, and didnt want to be in the restaurant any longer then we already have been just waiting. I know its not the servers fault at all, who showed empathy and understanding. I guess I can look forward to now reheating this steak a 4th time tomorrow. I think the kitchen staff needs help, and the chef should be checking orders before they are ran out to the table. I attached a picture of my steak that I have yet to take a bite out of, that had to be recooked multiple times.

Great quality of meat, amazing flavors. I ordered the porkchop and it was cooked and seasoned perfectly. I also ordered the Brussels and they were delicious! Service could be a bit faster, the server was very polite and respectful he just seemed a bit spread thin by covering a lot of tables at once.

We had our first brunch experience and it did not disappoint. We were a party of 11 which I know is difficult to seat and serve that many. Kira was amazing and thought of everything we needed super quick and attentive. The intricate flavors of our dishes was indescribably delicious. The saxophone player Benny was amazingly talented and the Sunday vibe here was spot on. Amazing food and service these days is hard to come by. Quickly becoming one of my favorite restaurants in Wilmington! Ive been there for dinner and brunch in the dining area and Ive sat at the bar a few times to eat as well.Its a great space, the staff has always been top notch, the drink menu and bartenders are on point and the food is perfection. I get the steak frites a lot but have had other cuts and its always cooked exactly how I asked for it. They source food locally. Their seasonal veggies are always delicious. And lastly, their creme brule is the best Ive ever had!!Definitely worth a visit. Get a reservation and get over there!

We went for our anniversary, I ordered a high end steak and my wife the pork crop. My steak was well done when I ordered med. rare and my wifes pork crop was half raw, I showed to waitress and she got me another steak but when it came it was cold and raw......We have been going here for around 1 and a half years, it was a good place when it first opened but has slowly been getting sub par! Way over rated for the price. As for the atmosphere very loud and people were walking around with no masks thats my 2 cents.

Came in and asked about the bar seating and was told it was first come and first serve. I asked if I could wait for a seat to become available and the hostess said yes, that she would gladly find a me a seat, but as the seats cleared up they quickly sat people who arrived after me that they clearly over booked as I could over hear the manager with the hostess.The manager even approached me sitting patiently waiting for a seat to apologize about the mishap on the reservation but he was mistaken, that’s when I watched him seat the person he wanted to apologize to at the first come first serve seating lol.Food is worth going back for sure, the staff is always friendly. I’ll definitely be back. In fact I go regularly typically with larger parties.Don’t let this review deter you from going, just don’t expect to be seated with a reservation on time and don’t believe them when they say the bar is first come and first serve. This is being left for constructive criticism.Just do better about being observant about what’s going on at the front door just as much as the back of the house .

This place came highly recommended and their brunch did not disappoint. I had the White Cheddar Bacon Omelet which was simply amazing on the taste buds. This place is now my favourite spot here in Wilmington.

Such an amazing dinner! I went with my family and we all agree it is one of the best meals we have ever had at a restaurant. Beautiful ambience, excellent service and delicious meal! We got the Brussels sprouts, the 9 oz steak, catch of the day, and seafood paella and it all was superb. Highly recommend! We will be coming back!

Second best steak I have ever had. The best was I cooked myself. And I have traveled and maybe not had them all but most.If you love Pittsburgh Style you have to try it.

It would be really nice if the hostesses that answered the phone knew the policies of the restaurant they worked at. We called on a Saturday evening to place an order for pick up and were told that they do not take orders over the phone and to place an order online. We go through the process to place an order online and then come across an error that says that online ordering is not available. We then drive to the restaurant to place the order in person and are turned away because “we don’t take to go orders on Friday and Saturday during dinner”. It would have been nice to know this information before we wasted all of our time trying to order. Please educate your employees on basic policy. This was an incredibly frustrating experience that makes us not want to waste our money on an overpriced steak.

I am guessing this will be the next restaurant to fail. I took my wife here for a nice Anniversary Dinner and we could barely get in the door before a rude hostess wants to shove masks on our face. Keep in mind when seated we are two feet from next table however I guess safe from Covid when sitting down. If you are a liberal wearing two masks and don’t mind overpaying for mediocre food. (67$ for Ribeye ala cart) and also don’t mind getting your side and glass of wine 10 minutes after finishing your steak then this is the place for you! Only problem is that the liberal hostesses shoving masks on faces and patrolling for masks violations around restaurant with their spray bottle may not be aware that liberals don’t eat meat! Go to Port City Chop House for better selections, better steaks and no crazed liberal waiting for masks to fall under your nose. Pure Insanity at this overpriced rude joke of a restaurant!

Went here yesterday with my girlfriend. The food was excellent. The wagyu beef was amazing. Our server Orlando was exceptional. Will definitely be going back.

It’s a great experience. The ambiance is very welcoming and charming. Amazing wines, food and service. Staff are extremely knowledgeable and make great recommendations. Butcher shop made me happy. Fresh grass fed meat and all the rare specialties like Wagyu meat, Foie gras etc.

Service was top notch but we were given a menu that they were no longer serving!!! My $22 burger that I was forced to order, came out cold! I did request rare but rare does not mean cold!! Our Fork and Knife fries was French fries with Taco Meat and cheese!!! I will not be returning !!!

We have used the butcher side of this establishment a few times and have been very impressed. The quality of the meats is excellent and the service is exceptional. The people behind the butcher case are very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. That side of the operation gets 5 stars. We finally tried the restaurant for the first time for lunch today and sadly we were not impressed. Although it wasnt crowded, the wait service was extremely slow. After being seated and getting our drinks, we waited more than 15 minutes to get any further service and only after we finally flagged down a server. The Nashville chicken sandwich was just OK. Not very spicy and the catfish sandwich had an interesting flavor. I think it was breaded in graham cracker flour. Good, but different. We both ordered soup to start the meal, but it came out after the sandwiches and only after I told them not to bother. The turkey gumbo was not very good, but the black bean soup was excellent. I know anyplace can have a bad day and the manager did stop by and apologize and discounted the meal. We will try them again and I will re-evaluate after that. But for now, I was not overly impressed.

I was not impressed the chicken I got still had hair on it under cooked and sauce was quite dis tasteful. Not to mention the manager was quite rude and un pleasant.

Called in a togo order and decided to dine in as I got there early. Kira waited on me and took great care in making sure I was good to go during the entire meal. The bartender was setting up for evening service, but made sure to check on me frequently also. The mac and cheese was divine, but the Fried Catfish sandwich was the best Ive ever had anywhere. Crispy, fried perfectly, and still steaming hot on the inside. The hoagie was toasted just right and the condiments were a complement...they let the catfish speak for itself!

Great food! We didnt order an entrée, but had several appetizers instead. The cauliflower souffle and the beef and Brussel sprouts were fantastic. The berata was also good, but surprised us when it was served cold. We may have liked it better if it were warm, but it was superb regardless. The steak tartar was good as well. A bit rich, but delicious. Our server (Anna) was excellent and the atmosphere was wonderful. All in all a terrific evening.

Last night’s visit was sadly disappointing. Without going into great detail, there was an issue with the temperature of a steak being delivered to our table incorrectly. The manager (can’t remember a name) with a French accent handled the issue incredibly wrong! He was overly rude to everyone in our party, constantly interrupted each person that attempted to speak, & then disrespected his staff in front of us and everyone.

Tonight was our first visit to True Blue, but won’t be our last! The food and service were excellent! Kristen and the entire staff were very attentive, yet not intrusive. Our favorite restaurant in Wilmington!

The meal was outstanding! I had a delicious ribeye and my wife ordered a filet. Everything was cooked to perfection!My only complaint was that, who I’m guessing was the manager, was a little unprofessional in my opinion. He basically chewed out our waiter in the middle of the restaurant, the body language and arms flailing around, in my opinion was a little ridiculous. I’m not sure what our waiter’s name was, but he he did a wonderful job all night. I’m not sure if this was the mangers first time being a manger, but people who are paying $50+ for a steak, in an upscale restaurant don’t want to see an employee being reprimanded In the middle of all the action. Just a tip for that guy “Praise in public, critique in private.”Once again, food was outstanding, and we will be back for sure. I just hope that guy shows some professionalism to the employees in the future.

I really like the food and I don’t give 5 stars because they forgot to include the Butter sauce and I asked the waitress and they made me pay twice for something I didn’t get for the 1st time..

To keep it short and to the point, compared to similar restaurants such as the Capital Grille or Ruth Chris’s, I would rate this restaurant no more than three stars mainly due to the decor which frankly resembles a cafeteria and generally mediocre service.. The bartender was very average and not particularly friendly and apart from the steak the side dishes are frankly disappointing, the Caesar salad was extremely disappointing, almost inedible. Overall, decent steak but a relatively high price considering the decor and general service

The wagyu is amazing, the aged meat is so flavorful and tender. This is a must try menu and you will love it.

Very disappointed. After reading other reviews? I was excited about giving this place a chance. The only reason I am giving it a 1 is because 0 is not an option. The Ribeye steak was tough as leather. After complaining to the manager I got an even more expensive filet that was a little better. The waitress avoided me after my complaint. I don’t know if she thought I was going to blame her for the steak or if she was just too busy, either way waitressing is about customer service which she failed.For the price, you are better off going somewhere else.Very disappointed

Really not thrilled with this place. Drove 2 hours to have real Wagyu. Paid $120 for it and it tastes just like deli roast beef. Wasn’t worth anywhere near what I paid. My girlfriend got the KC strip. They couldn’t tell use the difference between that and a New York strip, but had both on the menu. Also they have really weird steak cooking. They call a cold red interior a medium when I would call that rare, and that wasn’t undercooked I guess, I was told that was what I ordered. I paid $200 for 2 people I really wasn’t thrill with the quality for the price. A Outback Steakhouse steak is better and way cheaper.

Not really paella, its more of a seafood risotto! Its missing the element that defines it to be a paella which is the cruchy rice. Just call it what it is, a seafood risotto! The waitress was great though, very attentive!

We came in for the first time today and were blown away. I came for the steak tartar, its impossible to find in this town, and it was exactly what I was looking for, (the frise was a nice touch). I had hands down the best steak frites Ive ever had; a perfectly cooked rare steak, steak sauce and housemade fries were phenomenal, but the salad is the unsung hero of this dish. The pallea was superb, the perfect amount of saffron, with a perfectly cooked scallop. As a cook I never leave reviews but this meal was so wonderful Im praising it for the whole world to see.

After we arrived with a party of 10, our food was not cooked properly!!!! After asking the manager why our shrimp was raw and our proteins were rare as well, he proceeded to insult us and physically bullied us at the table. I mean the bread was stale, Mac and cheese was mush, drinks where watered down . We have never had such a bad experience at a restaurant.

Fabulous lunch just now. I had a delicious turkey sandwich with side of tomato soup. My wife had vegetable payaia. Very pleasant wait staff. The restaurant is known for its beef counter where you can special order the best beef in North Carolina. The owner takes great pride (rightly so) in providing the absolute finest choices of beef steaks. Conveniently located in the Forum, across the street from Mayfaire in Wilmington’s best shopping and dining area.

The Filet was delicious. Toasted potatoes were very good. Also loved the brussel sprouts. No complaints.

New favorite lunch spot! We dined here for a nice Valentines Day lunch and were very impressed with everything. While saddened to learn that Pembrokes was not longer at this location, True Blue Butcher is as good, if not better. Looking forward to stopping in for dinner sometime soon, and maybe even for Sunday brunch. We had the Daily HotPot and Daily Melt and would highly recommend both dishes to anyone non vegan. Incredible food - well done Chef Zimmerman.

We came to the butcher counter to buy steaks for dinner.. what an experience! The customer service was great. We got a ribeye and a strip... both were delicious (cooked at home on cast iron). We talked to Kevin and the other young man helping us for awhile and were informed about all of the specials they run throughout the week. I am excited to come here for dinner one day, and for the Sunday Jazz Brunch !

Got an awesome cut of meat today! Bobby trimmed a perfect Steak Picanha for me that I took home and it was great. The ability to go in and get cuts of meat that you dont find in the supermarket from someone who knows what theyre doing is awesome. Go here to get your meat!

My wife and I went there on our honeymoon, and the food was incredible. I had told the restaurant that we were honeymooning prior to our arrival, and they went out of their way to make the evening special. They even printed special menus that they all signed. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting the area.

Expected much better, so much better. Food took 1.5 hours to come out with the excuse being that the steak being cooked well done takes a lot longer than other steaks, like the fault is with the customer for their preference. Ribeye came scorched and it was ordered medium (server even mentioned if pink in the center is okay). Even with this explanation when the food did come it was definitely not fresh off the grill like they made it seem. Seemed like it was sitting out for a whiiillee. Three tables were seated and ate before we got our meals. Pricing for a la carte options is a scam with sides being an extra cost and definitely not big enough to share like they claim. The staff was exceptionally friendly but doesn’t save them.

I was a little underdressed to say the least. I had just gotten off of work and was filthy. Just wearing my diving shorts. T- shirt and flip flops... lol. I typed in butcher near me and this place popped right up. Had no idea it was so gawldern fancy... I got some looks from the snotty guests ... but the staff was A1 all the way... I walked straight to the butcher counter where I was met with professionalism and A+++ quality product.Amazing place yall. They will get my money again.

Just had Mother’s Day lunch, one word UGH! Tough 68.00 steak and Taco Bell was better than the street tacos, sooo disappointing.

Went there for the $5 burgers on Wednesdays. Burger was delicious and well made. You have to pay extra for fries or any other side. The waitress made mistakes on the order and the bill, check it before you pay. Also, they were very slow to get food out.

We never were seated, despite reserving a table. They had pulled up an extra chair at a 4-top table for our party of 5, where there was just not enough room to squeeze into a seat, ensuring you were pressed back-to-back with a perfect stranger. I guess since the COVID vaccine is out and they expected big business on Easter Sunday that they single handedly decided that social distancing didnt matter.When asking if we could be seated at a table that would actually accommodate the size of our party (and not require us to be wedged in between other diners), they made it abundantly clear that they did not want to seat us at any of the multiple 6-top tables (but not due to social distancing), then continued seating walk-in guests who appeared to be of a higher class. After explaining our dilemma to the hostess and asking to speak to the manager, the manager decided to give the 4-top table they had reserved for us to walk-in guests, after hearing what the hostess had to say. And he did so right in front of us, before it was even time for our reservation, and before speaking a single word to anyone in our party.Instead of making any effort to make things right, he argued with us about how he was right and he knew what he was doing and that we were wrong and knew nothing. By the way, his two solutions to the problem were for us to sit outside, in the cold, at an even smaller table with very thin foldable chairs OR to sit an an even smaller 3-top table in the lounge area. Again, despite the fact that THREE 6-top tables were currently open and despite him giving away our reserved table BEFORE even discussing anything with us, he refused to do anything at all reasonable or practical to correct the situation, just repeating to us that 6-top tables are already reserved for parties of 6 or more. I know what Im doing. You know nothing.A waitress looked on, laughing so hard she had to pause from serving food, as the manager gestured for us to leave so that he could attend to all of their important guests.I guess I could have summed this up by saying that Ive received far superior treatment from just about every fast food joint Ive been to in my life than I have in the 10 minutes I spent inside this nightmare of a restaurant. If youre in the middle class, or dont feel like throwing on your cuff links, diamonds, and pearls to cut into a steak, dont expect any of the staff here to go out of their way to make you feel welcome at all.

Made a reservation at noon for 2 people for dinner service at 7:30pm. We arrived at 7:28pm and were greeted by the friendly hostess and sat promptly. Unfortunately, we sat for 20 full minutes without anyone greeting us. Many servers, and even the manager walked by our table which was right in front of the butcher counter several times. Anyone that had to get food had to walk by us, yet we did not even get a hello. For a reputable restaurant that offers high end cuts of steak at a high end price point I expected more. Yes we did inform the manager and his response was I wish you could give us a chance At this point, we just didnt want to be an inconvenience or force someone to wait on us. So we ended up leaving.

A friend recommended TB. I have to say that after 3 years in Wilmington and searchings for the best place for a steak. I have found it. The staff is attentive. The Steak is on point. Excellent dinner and drinks. We had the filets and they were grilled to perfection! We also recommeded this place. I enjoyed every single bite. Perfect with a side of roasted brussel sprouts. Has outside dining, which faces The Forum parking area. Must try

Chicken and steak were not cooked completely. Over an hour wait for our food. Will not be going back.

Restaurants in NC require a mask to enter the establishment, then when seated, you can take it off. Makes as much sense as allowing liquor stores to remain open and shutting down AA meetings ⁉️Four of us who attended thoroughly enjoyed our steaks. The flavor was out of this world, and cooked just the way we asked.The salads that we started with could have used more dressing when served, but otherwise good.True Blue has a very balanced and affordable wine list.The wait staff were very attentive and friendly.I highly recommend it to anyone for a very enjoyable visit.

When the location first opened I went regularly. The food was really good and service was too. Price was on point for what you got as well.In 2019 I stopped going.They were doing great deals but the food quality kept going down. Went on Valentines day and the service was pretty bad even accounting for the busy day but the food was off too. I like salt, nine out if ten times Ill choose salty over sweet. I add extra salt to popcorn and will scoop salt off the bottom of the bowl with the last few kernals. Well my steak was so over salted I chose not to eat much of it, extremely salty.About seven times in a row on different occasions I ordered the once delicious single serving chocolate pecan pie and despite my best efforts they microwaved it each time. In 2018 they would bake the chocolate pecan pie and it came out warm and crispy, so good. Microwave made it congeal onto a gel with rubbery crust.I requested the last four times for the pies to not be microwaved but they were. The last time I explained in detail to the server what my issue was with the microwaved pie and asked for him to check with the kitchen to see if they would bake it. He came back and said no so I asked for a cold one to take home and bake. He brought out a pie that had been microwaved into a puddle of goo. I think we left it on the table out if frustration.

Food was good but service and atmosphere was outstanding

True Blue I have heard this name several times about it being one of the best dinning experiences here in Eastern Carolina. Joel Knopp our waiter who was outstanding and explained everything to us in detail hooked us up with a very rare treat a waygu burger yes! A waygu beef burger! I will be going back im a burger fanatic and out of the 100s of restaurants Ive been to yes Ive traveled to other states for burgers this place has astonished me and I will be going back for their steaks and other entrees. To think the best burgers on the east coast the best protein location destination has been at my back door this whole time Im upset I havent been sooner! Dont hesitate make a reservation look at their website and check this place out Id give 10 stars if I could.

Celebrated my husbands 80th birthday. Made to feel very special with personalized menu for him and knowledgeable waiter (Don). Food was excellent, they even cooked lamb riblets for me which were not on the menu. I supplied the cake but they had the candles and served it for us. Cant wait to go back! And the meat box #1 he received as a gift is amazing. Will be grilling the beef tenderloin medallions tonight.

Was very excited to try this restaurant I suppose I should’ve made a reservation but I was fine with waiting or coming back later I was told they were fully booked for the night which has never happened to me anywhere I wasn’t even offered a wait time, a later reservation or outside seating (which was all open btw and there weren’t any people waiting)I get it it’s a very popular restaurant having a special but you shouldn’t advertise that walk in seating is available if it’s reservation only but what really upset me was that after leaving I checked the open table and there were reservations available for later that night so I was just outright lied to and refused service needless to say I won’t be returning.

Without a doubt the best dining experience in WIlmington. Staff was friendly and the food..... outstanding.

My favorite place to go not only because the steak is the best but because the staff is amazing. Thanks to Matt for always giving us the best experience. If you’re looking for a good meal and some great wine/cocktails please stop by. You will not regret it!

The brunch fare is simply amazing here. I loved the steak and eggs but my absolute favorite thing to get is the crab cake Benedict. Its one of those meals where you savor every bite and cant wait to come back.

Havent had the food here yet, but Im giving it five stars for the stellar bar staff and drinks. Good people.
