Visiting my son in Maine. He desperately needed a new tire but no time to take care of it. I stopped by Stroudwater Tire & Auto on my way back from a tire store in Portland who couldnt help me out last minute. Just passing through on a summer day, with a tire that was leaking way to much air and I pulled in to see if they could take a look. Took only 40 minutes to get it replugged and back on the road. A friendly crew who could charge more for their great service. An honest garage, in my estimation.

Was driving home tonight around 930pm down Congress street and an ambulance was coming the opposite so me and the 2 cars infront and beside me stopped, Stroutwater tire and autos tow truck driver started high beaming us want everyone to go and ignore the ambulance. We turned into stroutwater street with their tow truck driver on our bumper and as he turned into their drive way high beamed us again. Great impression for your company.

Terrible experience. I recently moved to Maine from California, and as part of the vehicle registration process in Maine, I needed to have my car inspected. I have an older Lexus SUV, California car, no rust, ran like a champ cross country. After assessing the vehicle last week, Stroudwater Tire & Auto told me I needed new rear brakes and nothing else. They estimated $300-400, and I said fine. I set up an appointment the following week and dropped the car off as planned. These guys did the $300-400 work today and THEN called me to tell me I needed additional work done based on a dashboard warning light.I should now explain for the Mainers reading this review that there is no vehicle inspection in California (or any western state to my knowledge), and this same dash light has been on for the past 2 years. My mechanic in CA assured me that it did not adversely affect the car and posed no danger. But I digress...My complaint is that this warning light was on when these guys assessed the vehicle and recommended rear brake replacement last week. Only after they completed the brake replacement today did they inform me that I needed additional work (up to THOUSANDS of dollars) in order to pass inspection in Maine. This is an older vehicle, and I am not willing to put thousands of dollars into it. I am now faced with trading the car after paying for these clowns to replace the brakes!Where Im from... this is called some BUUUULLSHIT. Whether it was intentional or not, I recommend steering clear of this place.
