This company has been the most frustrating place to deal with. Started a kitchen remodel through Home Depot since April of this year still not done may not have it by thanksgiving. Constant wrong information no follow up had to check on permit status myself even when it was ready we had to call them . The guys that come out are amazing and are credit to their profession, but the people who are in the office are the not. Never again with this place.
I ordered a new door with installation through home depot and this is the company they contract out to; from the permit to the actual installation I had no issues! Door was installed without issue and the permit closed out with the city with no problems.
J & G Carpentry, Inc was awesome to work with while remodeling my kitchen. Their knowledge and expertise really put me at ease while completing the job. They got it done quickly and I could not think of using anyone else for the job!
Poor businessman never showed up not even a phone call explaining why they were not here wouldnt that recommend anybody
Their work was very high quality and they were punctual and always on time. Eric, Willie and Rick were all top notch and get an A+ rating from me
J&G remodel my kitchen, bath, electrical, hot water heater and more. All of their sub-contractors were courteous, respected my property and made friendly with my condo neighbors. They did outstanding work and answered my numerous questions. Every step of the process someone kept me informed, including the permit process. I found them through Home Depot. Yes, I recommend J&G Carpentry.
Had door installation done through J&G. easy to work with, great follow through. Customer service rep Derrick was on point with his communication from start to finish.Installer Freddy provided high quality installation. Highly recommend for you next job.
The waiting time is terrible! I purchased my patio door in August and this was not installed until nov. the installation process was smooth. Two months after install, we had a week a bad rain, the water came somehow (company still unable to figure problem out). This damaged my wood floor. I have to put a claim through Home Depot as the response time and customer service of this company is despicable. HD claim management company sent the installing company to assess the situation. After a month of debate, their conclusion that they didn’t do anything wrong and the problem was my broken kitchen pipe where there is no damage to floor or adjacent floor. Avoid this company. You will regret doing business with them. The latest is that the claim company realized the mistake and ask me to send it a quote to have my floor replaced by somebody else. I attached pics from the install day. The floor was great with a 40yo patio door. Now 3 months after install of hurricane aine proof door
Very good service and good attitude of those I spoke with or dealt with. I would recommend them.
J&G installed a door for me a couple of years ago (subcontracted through Home Depot). Recently the door started to come loose from the hinges, my fault for not putting a wind chain on the door. They replied within an hour of an email request to get a price to get the door fixed, and they were out and had the door fixed all in a few hours. Highly recommend. Fair price, prompt service wins the day.
I would definitely recommend J&G Carpentry for any door installation! Everything was done properly, handled efficiently and was a pleasure to deal with. Highly recommended!
Had a very good experience with this company. I dont know what all these other people are talking about. First I had to wait for Home Depot to order the product (doors & windows) and there is obviously a wait time for the product to be shipped. Once permits were issued, J&G called immediately to schedule the installation. Yes, the installation schedule takes a while because theyre already booked with other jobs. My install went very smoothly. I was happy with the installer and how knowledgeable and particular he was with his work.
Horrible customer service. They were supposed to come out to my house to measure door for replacement (subcontracted by Home Depot). They called and asked about coming out the very next day (weather forecast was accurate for the next day). I took the day off work, and shortly before they were supposed to come to measure, I received a call that because of the weather, they wanted to reschedule. It wasnt raining. They had installations they couldnt do in my area, and because I was just a measure they didnt want to come from their area. I took the day off work for this. If youre not going to honor commitments that are not weather-based because of OTHER jobs, you should limit your work to your immediate area.
Great quality product and most importantly they had great customer service. I had an issue at my house and they provided a competitive quote that same day and helped me through the whole process. Highly recommend them!
Take a look at Dee Petras other reviews on Google before taking her word for anything. She has three (3) reviews and they are all one (1) star. This is apparently someone that cannot be pleased. I had a kitchen remodel done by J&G Carpentry and they do excellent work. They are detail oriented and project came out great.
Sloppy trimwork. We had these guys do all of our interior doors through Home Depot. What a mistake. The guy who did the case mouldings obviously had zero clue what he was doing. We have vertical legs that are not plumb, head casings that are not level, and tons of nail holes right through the detail work. All it takes is a couple extra minutes to trace a few straight lines with a compound square to get this stuff right. No, sorry, cramming caulk into gaps does not make up for poor carpentry work. Now to make up for it I have to cut all kinds of crazy angles for my baseboards to take up the gaps - or rip it out and redo it all. I contracted with Home Depot because I didnt have the time to do it all myself, but now that I have all this extra work to do, I guess I should have. There is a minimal level of competency that you would expect from a carpenter. Everyone should beware of this outfit if you contract through Home Depot for any kind of carpentry work.
J&G installed my kitchen cabinets in one day. The work is high quality and the kitchen was left clean. The knobs were expertly installed. I wonder if not so good reviews can be blamed on bad cabinets. I will use J&G again.
They did a Fantastic job installing my impact windows and doors. One of the most professional and knowledgeable companies I have ever come across. Will recommend them to all family and friends.
These guys were sub-contracted by Home Depot. Great to work with, explained the processes perfectly. If I need any other work done, Id contact them directly. Thank you guys for the amazing work.
Could be 1 star but giving them the benefit of the doubt. Finding a door installer is impossible so we were left with Home Depot and J&G is the only door installer they work with, Erwin comes out because of the measurements (lead test and paper work was later because of process problems) and he is overwhelmed. We feel bad for him (and others if there are any). The office is buying time by lying to the customers (about permit, progress, saying they will call back and never do, etc). It has been over 2 months since we started the process. Alexis at Home Depot has been very helpful but this is getting to be real bad. We feel bad for Alexis too. Along with all the other customers waiting. If they let the customers know that they are overwhelmed and we all could or would be more understanding but instead being treated this way is wrong.
I dont even know where to begin. If I could, I would give zero stars. This is my first time ever writing a review. I worked in customer service for 20 years, so I definitely understand how people in customer service positions are supposed to conduct themselves. My experience was absolutely horrendous, and all Ive had done so far is having the door measurements taken.Heres what happened. My roommate and I called Home Depot to have interior doors replaced. I told Home Depot my roommate would be the one handling it and to please have everyone contact him moving forward. I explained that he is easier to get ahold of because Im dealing with serious health issues that have me at medical appointments and tests, on calls, and very busy most days. Home Depot said theyd make sure to have my roommate be the one contacted. Home Depot made an error and contacted a different contractor at first when they were supposed to have contacted J & G Carpentry. A person from the other company came out and measured the doors. Apparently, J & G was also contacted and was trying to contact me. Of course someone had already measured the doors and was handling things, so why was I going to call J & G back? I figured Home Depot called a few places and that the first place to get back to us was who wed be dealing with. When this first company gave us the runaround after the measurements, we contacted Home Depot to tell them what was going on. They admitted they made a mistake in sending out the first company. The first company shouldnt have been called in the first place since Home Depot is contracted with J & G. Home Depot told me that J & G tried contacting me, and I AGAIN explained that I already told them that everyone is supposed to be contacting my roommate. All I did was make the initial call. All subsequent calls were to go to him to coordinate scheduling since he has more availability. They apologized for all the inconveniences and confusion, but they apparently didnt inform J & G or give him my roommates number. My roommate wound up contacting J & G to do the measurements. My roommate also explained to them that Home Depot was supposed to forward HIS contact information as he would be the one handling it. Home Depot dropped the ball, yes, but the way J & G handled it was even worse.Fotis came out today to do the measurements. My roommate answered the door, and they start talking. As I walked past Fotis, I said, Hello. He ignored me. I brushed it off but couldnt understand why he was so rude. My roommate and him discuss everything, and they come back downstairs. This is when it got worse. Fotis looks at me and rudely exclaims, I tried calling you...SEVERAL times. When I tried to explain there were major mixups because Home Depot dropped the ball, he shut me down and refused to even listen! He turned to my roommate and flat out ignored me! I couldnt believe this was even happening! I had NO idea why this guy was being so rude! Even though he was ignoring me, I managed to say, I told Home Depot to pass along my roommates number to handle everything because my plate is already full. They were supposed to give you his number. He barely even acknowledged that. I couldnt even explain that Home Depot sent out the wrong company to begin with and that I didnt even think anyone needed to call J & G back because the doors had already been measured by another company. I couldnt believe how unbelievably rude, condescending, unprofessional, and disrespectful Fotis was. I contacted John (the owner) about what happened. All he did was tell me hed talk to Fotis but that he has never had any complaints about him before. Even my roommate couldnt believe what happened and how Fotis treated me! He was like, What just happend was crazy! I cant believe he acted like that and treated you that way! J & G should be extremely disappointed at how Fotis acted. For Fotis to be so rude (a complete jerk really) was totally uncalled for and inexcusable! I do NOT recommend J & G Carpentry AT ALL!!
Loved the work done by J&G carpentry. Order my doors and then had them installed by them. Great work! Would definitely recommend their work!
Great overall customer service. Reliable and dependable door installation in my new home. Highly recommended!
This review is for the Tampa office. We purchased a door to be installed from Home Depot. The gentleman who came out from J & G measured, and installed our door was nice, knowledgeable, and did a good job. The door was inspected on 8/18/17 by the county, and just today 2 months later the job was just finished (framing to be completed). Why? Because the office staff would NEVER return our calls to schedule an appointment. When you did speak to someone their attitude was terrible. I had to go thru the Expeditor from Home Depot to get assistance. Finally we got a phone call from the appointment setter whos tone of voice was gosh awful, and actually fabricated to my husband that your wife told us the job was complete. NEVER HAPPENED!! Why would I keep calling to make an appointment if the work was complete?? Bottom line is if you want good work and be treated badly and your calls never returned from the office staff, this is the company for you.
My experience (and still current experience) has been similar. First off scheduling took weeks to setup because they dont call, rarely any voicemail and I have seven different office/installer numbers but no one picks up and no one returns calls. Quite the unprofessional bunch. Secondly the work is deplorable. I had hurricane doors that I purchased from Home Depot (never again do that) to be installed but the door measurements arent accurate so the door doesnt fit. The reviews about storm doors ARE right on point, a light wind comes thru will pull the storm chain right out the door. Very poor installation work and customer service. Stay away!
I have no idea about the quality of their work because they dont show up or call. Home Depot sold me the doors but use J&G for installation. It took HD exactly 4 weeks to receive two special order doors but J&G has had the doors for 6 weeks and still no indication as to when they will be installed. Im ready to find another installer just to get this project done. It also appears HD has no control over their installer so I probably will not be using them again.
Jose Santillan is sub contracted with Home Depot for J & G carpentry, he was scheduled to arrive & measure btw 11-1, he arrived before 11 & is personable, professional & willing to answer questions...if his associates at J & G are any example of Jose than Im hopeful renovation will be a gr8 experience. Thanks JS
Horrible company !! Avoid at all costs !! Beware if you need doors or windows installed Hope Depot contracts them out. It took them six and a half months to do a simple front door install. It was like pulling teeth to try and get an install date and was even more difficult to get them to inspect and close our permit. Not to mention the office staff had bad attitudes and could not follow through with simple paperwork. My experience was absolutely frustrating and aggravating. So much so this is the first bad review I have ever given a business.
They installed a door for me and the inspector knew their work and told me, Oh, J & G, they do good work. The job was done efficiently and timely, would highly recommend them.
I REMODELED MY KITCHEN AND BATHROOMS BACK IN JUNE AND ICOULD NOT BE MORE PLEASED. MY KITCHEN HAS SO MUCH MORE USABLE SPACE WITH ALLTHE RIGHT COLORS THAT BLEND TOGETHER AND MY BATHROOMS CAME OUT JUST THE WAY IWANTED THEM. J&G TOOK THE TIME TO MAKE SURE THAT MY CABINETS AND ALL OF THECUSTOM WORK WOULD FIT SO THAT I WOULDNT RUN INTO PROBLEMS DURING THERENOVATION. AND JOHN, THE OWNER EVEN CAME OUT HIMSELF. THE WORKERS WERE ALLTIMELY AND PROFESSIONAL. THERE WERE A FEW HICCUPS HERE AND THERE BUT YOU CANEXPECT THAT IN CONSTRUCTION. J&G HANDLED THEM AND GOT THINGS ROLLING AGAINLIKE WE DIDN’T MISS A STEP. THE OFFICE GIRLS, ANGELA AND KAREN PULLEDEVERYTHING TOGETHER AND WERE THERE TO ANSWER ANY QUESTION I HAD AND I HAD A LOTOF QUESTIONS. IN A WHOLE J&G HAS MADE REMODELING MY HOME (WHICH IF YOU HAVEEVER DONE IS NOT A PLEASURABLE PROCESS) VERY TOLERABLE AND THE FINISHED PRODUCTWAS BEAUTIFUL. I WOULD RECOMMEND USING J&G FOR ANY OF YOUR REMODELINGNEEDS.
OMG! Where do I even begin..... I bought doors from Home Depot and wanted to have them installed. The Home Depot uses J & G Carpentry and unfortunately no one else. I have to say J & G has got to be the worst company I have ever had to deal with. I took them 2 months and a lot of emails that were ignored just to get the N.O.C sent to me. I signed and had it notarized sent it back and months later waiting for the install date they tell me it was lost. Countless phone calls and emails to them trying to get and install date. My permit was issued Dec. of 2017 and the install was finally complete April of 2018. but they still had to schedule the inspection . On the date of inspection we waited and it was a no show. J&G had sent the inspector to a different county. We were told to reschedule. A few emails later with the threat to take legal action to get another inspection and the permit about to expire in june. Jami of J&G emailed me to wait between the hours of 8am to 5pm on inspection day. I said hell no!!! I called the city and got a respectable time he would show. Finally the day before the permit expired we were inspected. 6 months to have a set of doors installed. Thank you J&G Carpentry!! FYI the people giving 5 star rating are employees of J&G such BS!!
We purchased several home improvement items from Home Depot and J&G is the contractor they use for installation. The guy who came to measure was gruff and condescending, but anyone can have a bad day, right? Soon after the measuring we received paperwork in the mail from the company that had obviously been a copy of a copy of a copy so many times it was illegible and badly skewed (do they not own a printer??). They insisted that I had to sign a statement saying that I acknowledged that I was bound by an HOA even though there is no HOA for my neighborhood. On the phone they were rude and unconcerned about my issues. If they cant handle small problems like these in a professional manner, I cant imagine how much trouble I would have if God forbid there were any real problems with the installation of our home projects. In the end we hired someone else who did a fantastic job without the hassles of a staff who doesnt care anymore.
TERRIBLE. STAY AWAY FROM J&G Carpentry!! I’m working to have Home Depot drop them. Read the other one-star reviews in 2016 and 2017 regarding storm/screen door installation out of their Tampa office through Home Depot sales. My experience was similar. No-show for scheduled install that took MONTHS to achieve. No calls, no apologies and no compensation for my trouble and inconvenience from these inconsiderate unprofessional people. They don’t return calls and their scheduler (Shelly) doesn’t even bother to listen to her messages, even though her recorded greeting promises a return call within 24 hrs and asks that you not leave multiple messages. She will not return your call!! They are short-handed and do not have the staff to handle the volume of business supplied by Home Depot. Consequently, the completely IGNORE small jobs and do not keep their appointments. Home Depot does nothing either... had to get a refund after 3 months and start over elsewhere. This was a $600+ storm door. Don’t buy doors at Home Depot!!
Customer service is poor!!! Company did not show up for their appointment. I had to call 15 times for someone to pick up and tell me they will call me back. 5 days later and no response. This has to be the most unreliable company I have ever encountered.
