This was our first time visiting here and both my wife and I were very satisfied with the doctor we had and the staff was so polite and helpful. Our visit was very thorough and we did not feel rushed at all. The only thing is I wish that they offered more frame options. They do have a decent selection and I think that the space may limit this for them. Overall positive and not really a big deal we were both able to find frames that we are happy with. I would highly recommend this place to anyone.
I’ve been going here for several years now to get my daughter glasses. She’s 11 now, so we thought we could try contacts. When the gentleman came in for the fitting, my daughter kept blinking and was a little scared. After about 5 minutes the guy looked at my daughter and told her that he doesn’t have all day to spend with her, he has other things to do. Sad to say I will not be taking her back after this.
I have no complaints about Dr. Evans, but it almost seemed like the rest of the staff was working their first day.Went in a little over 2 weeks ago for a check-up and Dr. Evans wanted me to try a pair of contacts. He wanted to see them on my eyes. Unfortunately they did not have my updated prescription on hand which is understandable. But the staff had me put in contacts that were not my prescription. Made no sense to me to just waste a pair. Dr. Evans seemed to also believe it was ridiculous. When I told him the pair they gave me to try was not correct bc they didnt have it on hand, he rightfully seemed irritated and advised me to take them out and throw them away immediately and to come back in about a week so they can get the correct ones to me to try out.So then I go to check out and they seem clueless on the amount I owe. First it was $10, so I paid and then they said oh wait its $60 because you had a contact fitting/evaluation. I mean not really actually since they gave me some random prescription to try out....So then they say they will call me in about a week when they get the new/correct lenses in for me to try. We are now at over 2 weeks and no one has even called me to update me on a delay or anything.
Dr. Evans is so knowledgeable, professional, and has expedited my ability to see specialists. Best optometrist Ive ever seen. Ive had multiple appointments in just a few weeks, and his staff have been wonderful every time. My husband and I have both purchased glasses there as well, and the selection is great. 10/10 definitely recommend.

I used to go here as a kid. Got my first pair of clunky 90s glasses from this place. I dont remember lots from way back then, but I do remember lots of smiles and happy vibes.Now, as an adult with my own insurance, I recently was able to return to get a few new boxes of contacts, and it was I never even left. The staff is unbelievably helpful, and the smiles and happy vibes never faded with the times. Over the many years and changes in prescriptions and doctors, I am glad I cam back. I truly feel this is the one place I can trust and feel at home with when it comes to caring for my eyes.I appreciate the great work and care you guys have for your patients, and Im always happy to call you up for an appointment, or recommend you to friends and family.Thank you! :)
Dr. Evans has been great when he has seen my son, and I would recommend him if he was not at Eye Care of Iowa.Unfortunately, his administrative staff struggles to keep records of patients clear, store their insurance information, and most critically - reschedule appointments appropriately.We had to reschedule my sons appointment and everything was normal during that process. When we showed up for the appointment we were told there were no appointments that day, and that his original appointment time is what was in the computer. This is on top of two requests prior to the original appointment to send a confirmation. Their inability to do accurate record keeping wasted part of my day, and will see me take my familys business elsewhere.
I love how every doctor that we come in to see takes the same great care of me and my family as the next. You always know when going in what to expect and the doctors are great with my kids. sets their minds at ease before checking out their eyes and really explains the process and what he is doing to them. My kids love knowing whats coming and why the test is being done. We have been going to Eye Care of Iowa for over 20 years!
If you get the wrong prescription, you do not get a refund. My insurance paid $1061.20 for my progressive lens and I paid $678.96. The company that makes the lens replaced them for free but Eye Care of Iowa refused to help me with any kind of discount for new ones. The new ones are also not the right prescription so I have to go to another optometrist and pay for them out of pocket.I was told that they have never had a problem like that before. Well, I have never had a problem getting the right prescription before either. Ive worn glasses since I was in grade school.Now Im stuck with expensive progressive glasses that makes me nauseous and causes eye pain.Follow up-I got a phone call from Eye Care/Iowa asking me to come back to the office so they could check my prescription. After speaking to another Dr. he made a change to my left lens and assured me that they would make sure I had a prescription that worked for me. My left lens was replaced quickly and now I can see without any side effects.
My family switched over to Eye Care of Iowa at the end of last year and got new glasses. Just this past week we had our first yearly checkup at these offices. I find them very professional. I actually got contacts for the first time. They were very informative and helpful. They had what I needed right there so I could start with contacts the same day. So far we are pleased with Eye Care of Iowa.
I have gone here for many years because I feel comfortable that Im getting the best care possible. Being a diabetic eye site is very important and I wouldnt go just anywhere. Ive moved father away from their offices - but still go there. Would love them to have an office in Ankeny.
I had a medical eye issue occur and had to see an eye doctor immediately. Eye Care of Iowa was able to fit me in at very short notice and accurately diagnosed and treated my eye. I was very impressed with the follow up and service that I received. I would never go anywhere else!

My initial routine vision exam visit was turned into medical exam where reason for visit was just annual check up. This became insurance/billing nightmare. They are clearly greedy, wanting more money from you!According to Medicare Carrier Manual, Part 3, under Coverage and Limitations 08-94 section 2323, the coverage of services rendered by an eye care provider is dependent on the purpose and presenting chief reason for the examination rather than on the ultimate and incidental diagnosis (es)”. Therefore, if a patient presents to a provider’s office for a routine examination, and during the course of the examination a medical diagnosis is discovered, the examination is still reported as routine.
I have been going to Dr. Nesheim for years and I absolutely adore him. Hes very thorough, friendly and personable. He explains everything in terms that you can understand and I highly recommend him to anyone looking for a new eye doctor.
While searching for a specific eye glass style, it was recommended I visit this location. I found a pair and, although this location was extremely busy, the staff did everything they could to help me with my purchase. I would recommend others to Eye Care of Iowa.
I went in for what I thought was a relatively simple issue, but when Dr Jason Nesheim discovered that I had a potentially dangerous eye condition that needed immediate attention, he treated me with a level of professional care and concern that was very reassuring. He has continued to follow up and monitor my progress, and the entire staff has been very friendly and helpful. I have been impressed with everyone at Eye Care of Iowa.
Eye Care of Iowa is efficient and works well with my VSP vision coverage. The staff are always pleasant and my appointments have always moved right along. I really enjoy their selection of glasses and the attention that I received picking out glasses. Most of all I really appreciate their knowledge of my VSP coverage so I know that I am getting what I should out of my eye care insurance.
I have gone to Dr. Nesheim for at least seven years. I have never felt rushed or treated like a number. They take the time to explain everything to me. I have, in fact, recommended this practice to other people.

Dr Nesheim and his group do an excellent job. They take care of the client afterwards too. If you have any eye issues or just need an exam I would highly recommend them.

The frames at this place are ridiculously expensive. The service is TERRIBLE! I have been dealing with them since mid February and still do not have my glasses. Apparently if you dont have specific insurance than they send your order to a random lab somewhere it will take 2 months to complete. Basically go spend your money elsewhere because these pompous people will NOT appreciate you and have no idea what proper customer service is...never again! I will leave you with the e-mail sent to me yesterday (3/9/17) from one of the owners.Hi Brey,Hopefully Heather from my office was able to get ahold of you this afternoon to explain the reasons as to why your glasses are not ready yet. It does look like things were ordered on the 22nd of February, and for a single vision pair of glasses we should get a turn around of 5-7 business days. When you add things like anti-reflective coating and such though, it can take more like 10-12 days. This is completely out of our hands unfortunately based off what labs we have to use, which is insurance dependent. We have an in-house lab in Des Moines, however certain vision insurances don’t allow you/us to use that lab, as they have their own lab contracts to adhere to. I understand this is a frustrating process for you, as it is for us on our end too. Heather has already added another rush on your glasses. Hopefully they will pass their final inspection tomorrow and get them shipped out for next day shipping.Thanks for understanding.Best regards,Dr. BlascoBeen getting glasses for the past 18 years and it has never taken this long for an order. Easy-to-find location, very accommodating when making appointments, very friendly staff with clear explanations of the tests and care needed. Ive never had to wait!
They tried to up-sell contacts to me. They gave me a six month supply and informed me it was for a full year. They switched my brand to the most expensive one they sell and my insurance only covered a third of it. Then a year later they called me multiple times to schedule a yearly check up that I never scheduled. They called several times during the day (business hours) and even interrupted a meeting. I never asked to come back and they harassed my by calling multiple times. I will not be returning to this office.
I needed new glasses. No waiting and the attendant was courteous and knowledgeable. The glasses were delivered as promised and were as expected.
