Won’t take a car there ever again, gave one price & charged me almost $400 more then I was quoted. Two days after picking up my truck it’s broke down again & now getting towed to another shop. Sad that Harry (manager) don’t back up what he says & unprofessional.

Wonderful service, they took care of me and my car and I had it back within three days. My car is my baby, shes old and beat up but shes still my first car after eleven years, and had some issues with shifting gears and the transmission sensor was malfunctioning. AAMCO got her fixed up and now she drives like she always did, smooth and easy. Im so happy, I definitely recommend them to service your car.

Harry was awesome. Never had a mechanic actually talk me through a decision making process and what he would do. This ultimately led to me NOT spending close to $300. He didnt try to sell me on anything. He put in over an hour looking in to what I told him was wrong and still didnt charge me anything. Great and honest place.

I had a great time dealing with Harry, he is professional and has a great sense of humor. If you take the time out for him to work on your car I know you would be in good hands. The price he charged me for my engine rebuilt was a great price. I have been at other auto mechanics and it seemed like I was always coming back for more problems that were not detected at the initial appointment. Most unprofessional business I’ve probably ever done business with! He is NOT “open” or available during his posted business hours. He sounds nice over the phone but once your vehicle is in his possession things change instantly. The price he quoted me for engine repairs was $1500 more than the actual dealership! Had I seen the condition of the vehicles on his lot before having my car towed there I never would have. There are vehicles that have clearly been sitting there inoperable for numerous months maybe even years as evidenced by the cobwebs surrounding the deflated tires, rust, and expired registration tags. I contacted him innumerable times FOR A WEEK (in person and via phone) to remit payment for my tow (which was less than $100) and he either wasn’t there (as in door locked and lights off), didn’t answer the phone, or when he did, (mind you it was around 3 to 4 pm on business days) he stated he was closed and I’d have to call back the next day. I finally had my vehicle towed via my insurance company and this guy had the nerve to threaten ME! I asked for a receipt to be sent for the payment and his reply?! He “does things professionally” but doesn’t have a scanner or any means to email me a copy and he “advised” me to come in to get one and then hung up on me! Professional?! It’s 2021. Electronic signatures and emailed documents are a REAL THING! I can buy a house with no in person contact but you can’t email me a copy of my receipt? Absurd. Absolutely absurd. Thank God my husband and I have numerous vehicles because dealing with this guy was a nightmare and anyone relying on him to service their only vehicle would be up a creek without a paddle!UPDATE: William (a sensible and courteous gentleman) from the Libertyville branch reached out yesterday to apologize for the garbage service provided by Harry in Waukegan. He offered to see if he can right the wrongs we encountered. His courtesy is greatly appreciated and my husband and I look forward to working with him. I’ll keep this post updated!

Harry is always great to work with. He recently took in my 05 Honda Accord on short notice and fixed some front end issues. My car is running better and is more reliable than before. You need people you can trust for serious repairs. Look no further. Strongly recommend.

I do not recommend this business. Tell you one thing and charges you another. I went there on two different occasions. The first time I was quoted 1500 dollars, then I was charged almost 4000. The second time I was quoted 200 dollars, then I was charged almost 600 dollars. Will never come back here again.

Cost me $1000 more than the original quote. the vehicle seems to be running fine, but I dont feel like I won taking the vehicle there. I should have just went with my regular shop.

Nice guy, but cuts corners and talks like a salesman at all times. Subpar work performed on my vehicle caused my RPMs to spike while driving causing me to nearly get into an accident. I will not return and would not recommend.

This is the second time Ive gone with Aamco Waukegan. Last time they did a complete transmission job for me and a great job. This time I had some squeaking belts which I needed fixed. Once again, manager Harry did a great job explaining everything to me and giving quotes before work performed. I especially appreciate him finding other issues that may need addressed and also explaining that thoroughly. They did a good job and in timely manner. I lost my job due to covid-19 and I was broken in every way possible when my car wouldnt move because my transmission broke. I Called Aamco and the manager Harry took great care of me. He communicated with me every step of the way. He did all the hard work by reaching out to my warranty company and getting them to cover the cost of the fix. Out of close to 5k I only have to pay under 300 bucks because of Harry taking care of the stress of working with the warranty company. I went there concerned that my transmission was slipping. The gentleman there was very nice and checked the car for me right away. He said the car was fine and that if I had any other concerns to bring it back and he would run diagnostics on it. He could have told me anything being Im a woman. My name is luis rivera i want to say that this was the best transmisson shop i hv been to harry was very helpful went to another shop before aamcco and they wanted to charge arm and leg to fix my trans i called harry and he told me to come in and he would test drive and put it on computer he found the problem i didnt need a new transmisson and it would be way cheaper than the other shop would hv been. im so glad i came to harry at aamco he was the best i give this shop 5 stars they were very very helpful and reasonable on price thank u harry for ur help ur the best .and guy they hv alk kinds of finacing if u cant afford it all .

Back in August 2019, I took my vehicle to a trusted family mechanic and I was disappointed with the end-results. I shopped around different areas of Waukegan, Gurnee and other surrounding towns for quotes on a transfer case repair. I looked at reviews too, and found myself trying AAMCO in Waukegan, IL. I was skeptical since I had already a bad experience with someone I trusted with my car. But a sales manager at AAMCO, Harry, helped me with understanding every detail of the necessary repairs including the control arm issue, that I was aware and needed to fix. The cost was much higher than I had anticipated and could only pay partial. After a few hours of Harry trying to get a loan to pay for the rest of the expense, I was able to take my car the same day it was ready. The service was completed on September 9, 2019. The reason I waited till today (November 27, 2019) to give my review, is to give feedback on how my car is running. It is going great thus far. Even though my experience was a bit bumpy, Harry and his team gave great service and handled the repair request in a professional manner.

Let me start, when one buys a used vehicle they are getting issues the previous owner had. Its good to be able to find and trust a shop where repairs can be done both well and quickly. Every car owner wants a my mechanic, to me that would be Harry. In the four years Ive owned my 05 Escape hes replaced a transmission, an engine, and had exhaust work done to my vehicle. I believe the $8000 Ive spent on a $6000 vehicle was worth it. It not Harrys fault the repairs were needed, but Im glad I had him to turn to when they needed to be done.Thanks Harry.

My car broke down and my husband brought it to AAMCO Waukegan. Harry was amazing! After all diagnostics, he let us know right away that its the transmission that was causing the problem and when he found out the actual issues, he gave my husband a call right away and told him the exact things to be done and what needs to be replaced and how much its gonna cost us. My 2003 Hyundai sante fe need a new transmission called aamco they came and pick it up that day, call me the next day to tell me the.
