You can find an excellent cup of premium Ethiopian coffee here. My favorite is to mix the light Ethiopia Yirgacheffe coffe with the Ethiopia Yirgacheffe medium, it makes a perfect cup of coffee. They roast the beans on site. The coffee is fresh and hot. Great customer service as well. Check the hours before you go, they close early now post Covid. Enjoy!
Im new to the Park View neighborhood, but this has become my go-to coffee shop. Simple store, friendly staff, and delicious coffee - and strong, which I like. :) I have only done takeaway to date, and look forward to hanging out at this place when conditions allow. Great shop with great coffee - Ill be back!
One of my favorite spots to stop by in DC. I just moved to DC and love the home-like atmosphere. Great coffee, and it’s always great to chat with the owner who is so warm and welcoming! Totally recommend stopping by- if you want to support a small, black-owned business, this is the place to be!
Amazing price on their freshly roasted beans. Delicious coffee. Owners and staff are very nice. Great neighborhood spot.
Amazing coffee and the lady running the shop was really sweet. Atmosphere was really quaint and cute. An absolute must visit!!!
Amazing cold brew, definitely want to go back and try their pastries!
Very small with limited seating. Coffee was ok.
This is a nice little coffee shop that provides really good coffee and roasts their own beans. The lady working at the counter was very nice, and I bought some bags of coffee to go. It is very good coffee.
Coffe is great, people here is SO nice! And their sambusas, almond croissant and ham and cheese croissant are unbelievable 🤤
Small batch roastery and barista .. really nice and strong!!
Wonderful cute little coffee shop with quick and friendly service. Almond milk latte was perfect for a a fall morning walk. They even have a self service printer if you need to print a page or two for .19. Will be back for some whole beans soon!
Various flavors of Ethiopian coffee: Harrar, Yirgacheffe, Limu, etc. They roast and brew coffee infront of you. I enjoy the smell of fresh roasted coffee always before sipping my favorite Harrar Coffee. Superb friendly service looks to be the standard!
Delicious coffee and fresh green beans if you want to roast your own
Great coffee, you could tell it was fresh. This place is way less crowded than some of the other breakfast places around!
Great fresh roasted coffee. Seriously tasty.
You will certainly get quality coffee variety!
Great coffee and quick service. Their iced coffees aren’t watered down which is rare
The coffee is delicious and the customer service is great! They responded promptly to my email and were flexible with my online order change.
Friendly staff, great drinks. Great local staple
This is the best coffee Ive had in DC. I keep it simple with their cold brew and it never disappoints. The staff is friendly. Its a no frills kinda neighborhood spot situation. They also lowkey have bomb baked goods.
My go to neighborhood spot, owners and staff are awesome. Fresh roasted beans everyday. Nice little pastry selection too. They host traditional Ethiopian coffee ceremonies (thats not the right word, but you know what Im saying!), and do a discounted fresh bean subscription option too, so could subscribe your office so the coffee at work doesnt suck like usual
A small coffee shop with delicious coffee. The desserts are yummy and huge. The almond croissant is better than most Ive had with a really food filling. Service is friendly.Theres wifi and 10 or 25 cent printing
Delicious coffee and smells incredible in there.
Small/local spot w great fresh coffee and a few pastries. Space to sit and enjoy a cup of coffee as well
Great little local coffee shop, though little is the operative word. Its kinda cramped, but the coffee is good and reasonably priced. Its not somewhere I want to sit and work on my laptop (though I see people who do) but its great when I need coffee quick. They also roast their own beans which is pretty cool!
Was in here randomly when I was helping my sister move. The coffee was OK. I would prefer going here over Starbucks, but I think the latte was too foamy and it kind of ruined everything for me.Good place to talk to a friend while waiting.I feel like their coffee would be better as just straight espresso.
Those lucky enough to call this coffee shop their local have my envy. Behind this unassuming façade on Georgia lies a true bastion of quality coffee. Leave it to Ethiopia to provide the benchmark for coffee transcendence, and Harrar executes in both variety and excellence. Lined against the back wall are a dozen simple samovars, all filled with fresh brews ranging from the delicacy of tea to the strength of gasoline. Take your pick, marvel and the unfathomably low price point, and enjoy multiple cups.
Good place to get a quick coffee. They have a variety of coffees with tasting notes ready to pour.
One of my go to spots for hot beverages. They also roast the coffee beans in house, which adds another positive dimension to the overall quality of the coffee. The shop is always extremely clean, and the staff is very friendly.
Best dark roast (Harrar) in the city hands down! The quality of this small Ethiopian roastery is 2nd to none!
Kinda fun and unexpected. Small yet good use of space. Two small tables outside with a view down hill towards Washington hospital. Not far from Howard. Ethiopean and a favorite of taxi drivers who are always friendly. Pretty baristas and good coffee. A roasting machine sits in one corner. One one wall a giant picture of Einstien and near the entrance a paint of the Coffee gate In Addis Ababa. Newspapers on the counter. Interesting pastries and sambousa sort of spicy chick peas in interesting flaky pastry. Love them. Good bathroom. Some easy chairs at the back. I use to do physotherapy and then scooter to Harra where the side walk has place to park bikes and scooters. Possible street parking in all directions. It is a busy street. Ive seen little children hold mom or dads hand and they get lots of attention. Stop have a coffee and a samosa.
I brew my own coffee at home and this is the best beans Ive ever! I think because they roast the beans at the shop and everything is fresh makes a huge difference. Ive even tried going back to whole foods and buying coffee there, but nothing compares! Love this place!
Honestly speaking, their coffees can’t just be labeled as ‘good’, it’s great! They serve coffees at any kind that is ethically sourced, thoughtfully roasted, and brewed to perfection. How can I be sure about such things? Their friendly barista had told me the secret and the truth about their coffees.
This has quickly become one of my go-to places. Sitting area isnt huge, so this is best for a to-go cup, but there is always a table open if you want it. Coffee is superb, and the prices arent bad. As it heats up, the iced lattes have become a staple on top of brewed coffee. Plus I love their muffins - not a lot of selection, but they always taste fresh. Great addition to the neighborhood!
Delicious house-roasted coffee, pleasant people working there, and a teeny but comfy seating area. There are also a few tables and bar seating in the front -- its definitely not spacious but Ive never had trouble getting a seat. They have WiFi and a limited pastry selection but no kitchen. Its a cute spot that theyve obviously put some real effort into making nice, and Im really happy to have it in the neighborhood. Bonus points for being open later into the evening then most coffee shops in Shaw/Bloomingdale/Columbia Heights/eastern U Street.
Small space with limited baked goods but a pretty extensive coffee menu. They surely have something youll like if youre after a decent cup.
A great addition to the neighborhood. Harrar roasts in house and sends an intoxicating scent of roasting coffee through the air for blocks. The beans are mostly Ethiopian that produce the most complex (& floral) cup of coffee Ive ever had.
Best coffee in DC. No hesitation.
Came to D.C. for vacation. Stumbled upon Harrars looking for a coffee shop first day in and Im thankful I did. The staff are excellent and helpful. The coffee is out of this world and the prices are very reasonable. I stopped there every morning while I was here and it was always an awesome start for the day. Even bought a bag to take home. 5/5 stars.
I live right next door so it is so convenient. They have great freshly made coffee and ground organic coffee for sale. It is very comfortable inside and they have outdoor seating as well.
Amazing people good coffee
BEST COFFEE I HAVE EVER HAD IN DC
Smaller coffee shop with a very home-y vibe that looks like it could be the hole in the wall coffee spot youve been looking for. However, the coffee is very mediocre and the pastries are pre-made. Still, the barista was very pleasant and the shop looked clean and orderly.
The coffee at this location is horrible. No flavor or milk choices and most times, the coffee is left burnt. The food sucks and the staff, even though they are all Ethiopian, are very unfriendly to black people. The place seems like a social club for their after hours businesses. Go to Starbucks...at least you know where your money is going....or do you?
Ethiopia especially Harar is well known in coffee production in the world. you know that Ethiopia is the origin of coffee? The test is really amazing. You will drink this organic coffee in a uniquely ornamented tradition of ethiopian coffee ceremony and served by a beautiful and culturally dressed women. Please go and enjoy your day.
Great coffee and selection and I really appreciate that they roast it in house. Whenever Im in the area I try and grab a bag of their beans to use at home.
Solid little coffee shop with a great freshly roasted coffee subscription program. The staff is super friendly and they always have amazing coffee.
Great coffee and a community gathering place for Ethiopian and eritrean community, lovely to behold. The sambusas are spicy, and the custard Danish divine
Nice and small coffee shop! I appreciate the friendly staff and cleanliness of the place. Thank you.
This is the place to get perfect coffee... with my long experience in coffee testing, Harrer coffee is the place where you enjoy the look, the smell, and test of Ethiopian coffee.
It has been for about 3 years, since I knew Harar Coffee. they have the best one coffee and great customer service. For me, it is my Favorite place.
Even if their coffee is good, the cashier gave me stale sambusa. It wasnt even from the hot holder machine; all sambusas were in the oiled old brown bag. When I ask her its freshness she lied to me, and I realized it by the time I ate it.
I think this is what many would seek in a third wave roaster/cafe—serious about quality but unpretentious
Good place, prices are pretty fair for this kitchy shop. I had thier iced coffee, was good but not very complex. Atmosphere is great! Jazz music playing
Ethiopian coffee is the best, hands down. This quaint, unpretentious shop does its mother country proud and the service is extremely friendly.
Extremely Friendly Environment. The coffee is amazing. The best Ive ever had.
If you know about how a coffee should be then this is the best place to come and just enjoy your coffee and a great customer service as well.
A nice quaint cafe with an at-home type feel.
Cool little coffee shop on Georgia Ave, in the Columbia Heights area of DC. They have baked goods and good drinks!
The best apple danish i have had in My life
Best kaffe in Columbia heights.
Great local coffee shop. Get the dark roast; its phenomenal.
You can get the best Ethiopian coffee here depending on your choice dark, medium roasted...
I am not a coffee fan, but the freindly and informative staff, as well as the well described samples to help the uninitiated nubile caffeine fiend made Harrar a wonderful experience..
Great on site roasting. Wonderful service
Best coffee I’ve ever had and a wonderful staff!
Always nice and pleasant service. Drinks are made to perfection...
Good coffee and nice desserts as well.
They earned this only because their service, atmosphere, and product is top notch, plus they have a customer rewards type of program. I like that their coffee is super fresh since they roast their coffee in small batches right there and that they sometimes use more rare or unheard of varieties, like heirloom varieties of coffee beans from Ethiopia. I also like how they have organic coffee as well. Since I moved out of the neighborhood into Tenleytown, I have missed being able to go here as much in the mornings. While it looks like a typical, nice coffeeshop, it is very highly recommended by me - Im a coffee snob too, used to roast coffee professionally in Baltimore and was a barista.
My favorite coffee shope . Love the workers like a family .
The coffee was good.
Very nice atmosphere, coffee from Kenya, Ethiopia, and South America, delicious pastries!
The twisted almond is good and Yergechefa coffee
Harar coffee is really a place to take a try, I would say zis is a place where u can rest, relax n enjoy a wonderful coffee of the town which one can temporarly get away from z busy n stressful DC life. I usually go to zis coffee shop whenever I have something to read in peace of mind(u can spend z whole day wz a feeling at home) n of course enjoy z aroma n tasteful Dark Harar n Yergacheffe coffee.
Cute! Very little seating but somehow that adds to the appeal
If you want authentic Ethiopian coffee roasting and ceremony place then this is it. Love the setting and atmosphere!
Delicious coffee, small place but large selection!
Nice atmosphere! Welcoming and cosy!
Wonderful coffee and people!
Very friendly staff and delicious coffee.
