The tattoo artists were really nice and accommodating to my friend and I being walk-ins. The shop is also very sanitary and I was impressed with how thorough they were with cleaning.I was however a bit disappointed in a couple of things:1. We werent told the shop minimum being $100 before we got the tattoos. My friend and I both got a matching tattoo that took the artist no more than 20 minutes to complete for us. I didnt feel the tattoo itself was worth $100.2. As my tattoo is healing, I am noticing that the details of my tattoo arent the way I wanted. Lines arent straight, the color wasnt fully colored in in so parts of the tattoo look weirdly faded, and some lines werent finished.Im unfortunately going to have to get the tattoo fixed at some point to fix the lines as well as the coloring in the tattoo.

100% loved Brians work. I asked him to design a cover up tattoo for me and he told me he was confident in his work and I was not disappointed. For my 2nd consultation, I ended up getting the tattoo because it was so good and he was such a good artist and he offered good customer experience. At the end of the day, he also offered me a very competitive price so I would definitely go back and recommend for any person.

I went to ECS in October 2020 and had the best experience with Sarah. I knew exactly what I wanted, so consultation via email was easy. The entire experience was great. Due to the nature of tattooing, I knew the space would be totally clean and disinfected. Sarah was SO nice, made me feel comfortable, and was patient when I was deciding exact placement (and gave me some forewarning about how the tattoo might blur because of its location). On top of it all, conversation with her made the two-ish hours fly by. I would recommend ECS to anyone and will 100% be returning if I ever decide to get another tattoo!

I had heard wonderful things about this shop and stopped in this past weekend for a helix piercing and my first tattoo ever. Mantis did my piercing and did an incredible job. Ive never had a piercer take so much time to explain why he was piercing it at a certain angle. This is the third time Ive had my cartilage pierced. The other two times it hurt like hell and got infected and I had to eventually take it out. Today is day #2 since I got it pierced and it doesnt hurt at all! Love their jewelry options as well.Sheila did my tattoo which was my first tattoo ever. I got the Deathly Hallows symbol tattooed on my wrist. It looks incredible and she was so patient and helpful. She first put a temporary tattoo on the area so I could see exactly how it would look. I wasnt nervous at all by the time we got started.I will definitely be back for more piercings/tattoos. Its so nice to have a neighborhood spot that you can trust for excellent work! Very cool, nice people as well.

I love this place!! Super clean, friendly, professional and overall great vibes. I got a little triangle tattoo and the lines are so fine and perfectly aligned in the center of my bicep. Sheila did a fantastic job and was incredibly passionate about her art and her job! Cannot emphasize enough how great Sheila is and the whole shop! Definitely my new go to tattoo parlor!

One artist in particular was very rude, I think I would’ve been satisfied with my experience had said artist chose different wording when telling me my tattoo design wasn’t good and that they won’t tattoo me. Everyone else was extremely kind, pricing was good and the artwork was amazing. I recommend this place just wishing the experience wasn’t drowned out with poor word choices.

I went to two other tattoo parlors in DC before going to Electric Cat Scratch for a consultation, and Electric Cat Scratch was the most helpful during my consultation. I got my first tattoo today at Electric Cat Scratch and I couldnt be happier with the results and the whole process.They were very understanding and accommodating and my tattoo artist, Sarah, made sure I was comfortable and constantly asked me how I am feeling. The parlor is extremely clean. My friends and I had a great conversation with Sarah while getting the tattoo and that made me feel more relaxed. I 100% recommend Electric Cat Scratch!

Sheila was my tattoo artist and she did such an amazing job. She also very kindly cut the price for me; even if she hadnt though it still wouldve been a reasonable price. I cant say enough good things about this place. The shop itself is very clean, relaxed, and laid-back. I felt comfortable as soon as I walked in. Brian, Sarah, and Sheila are professional, friendly, helpful, and really really good. They really work with you to figure out what you want and how to do it. I went in with a very abstract idea of a tattoo I wanted (my first big piece), and Brian nailed it. It took two sessions, and Brian made sure I was comfortable the entire time. I am so happy with how it came out and will definitely be returning for any more I get.

Very clean and professional shop. I stopped in for a new piercing and it was placed exactly as I described (conch piercing to add on). My previous piercings (conch, daith, and earlobe orbitals) were all done in California, and Ive been looking for a new shop in DC. So far Im healing without any issues and I look forward to business with this shop again!

I got tattooed here by a guest artist so I can’t speak for the work of the resident artists here but their hospitality was great. Sheila brings a really great energy to the shop and during my six-hour session there, I was asked numerous times by Brian, Sarah, and Sheila how I was doing and if I needed anything to eat or drink. They made sure I was comfortable even though they weren’t tattooing me and I appreciated their concern for my well-being at their shop. Thanks guys!

Could not be more pleased/happy/all the positive emotions with my experience today! I spur of the moment decided today was the day for a tattoo I have wanted for a long time. I came in with 3 ideas, 2 of which im not totally sold on. Sara talked through each idea with me and gave great feedback (i drew them) and I ended up going with 1 ive really been wanting. She was SO nice, SO accommodating to my type A self, and just a wonderful human being! So excited about how it turned out, and more excited that Ive found my spot. Will def be going back and highly recommend you check them out!

Absolutely love this place! Went with a friend to get her tattoo and check out the place before I got mine the next week. Brian, Sarah, and Sheila are all super funny and helpful. The place is clean and all the artists work with you to get exactly what you want. Sarah suggested I come back the next week so she could have time to draw me exactly what I wanted. Went back the next week and it was perfect! They even lowered the price for me when they heard it was my first tattoo. Wish I could give 10 stars!

Went in today without an appointment. Sarah and Brian were amazing to work with. Both were informative and patient. This was my first tattoo and Brian was a pleasure to work with. Making sure to ask how I was doing during the session and explaining what he was doing. The tattoo came out better than I could have hoped.

Brian did a touch up on a photo realistic piece I got a few years ago. He made the tattoo pop; his style complimented the soft black and grey ink that is there. The two shop owners, Brian and Sarah, are very nice as well. I will definitely be back for another tattoo!

What can I say about the fantastic experience I have every time I am hanging out and getting tattooed with Sarah and Brian. They are two fantastic artists who are the most accommodating and laid back tattoo artists I have been around. There art is great, their place is hip, and they have some of the best prices around. I went to Sarah at ECS two weeks ago for my first tattoo, and I can honestly say that I could not have asked for a better first tattoo experience. The staff is friendly (and hilarious), the vibe of the shop is easygoing and not intimidating for newbies like me, and the quality of the work is INCREDIBLE. Got an amazing Washington Capitals Stanley Cup tattoo from Brian. Him and his entire staff and so friendly (which is the very first thing you want from a tattoo artist) and extremely professional. Electric Cat Scratch was such an awesome experience for my first tattoo! Walked in with my mom, sister and grandma for matching tattoos and we were lucky enough to be able to get them the same day. I rarely write reviews, but had such a good experience here that I want the whole internet to know!I got my first/only tattoo here. I walked in and had no idea what I wanted to get. I just told them something small and simple. Brian laid out a few books for me and patiently waited while my friend and I went through. When I had decided on my design, Brian, Sarah, and Sheila all did a very good job of explaining the process to me. Brian was extremely patient in waiting for me to decide on placement and encouraged me to keep on telling him where to replace the tracing (idk what this is called but the outline they put on before you actually get inked) until I was completely satisfied. I don’t know much about tattoos, but I would say his lines are really clean!! My tattoo only took about 10 min, but he would take about 30-45 second breaks on and off which reduced the minimal pain. I ended up coming back to the shop the next day because there was some minor detailing that was on the design, but not on my tattoo. I didn’t end up getting it because Brian told me that it would be too crowded and that 10 years from now the dots would stretch/sag but was also willing to do the detail because he wanted me to be happy with my tat. Their policy is very much “my body, my rules” as it should be, but what I really appreciate is that they will give honest and genuine opinions/reccomendations even if it may be something you don’t want to hear. The shop is cozy with a great color scheme and decor. Brian and Sarah are a very cute couple and really make you feel at home (Sheila was also great!!). Everything was professional and sterile to my knowledge. Bonuses: Free candy(and the good kind too), free stickers, great music, and they let me see their very cute puppy. I most likely will not get more tats, but if I do it will definitely be here!

Except that they look the part and are great at what they do, ECS is probably not what you think of when you think tattoo parlor. This shop has a dad joke sammitch board out front and chill, friendly artists inside. Theyve been invaluable in helping me flesh ;) out my ideas and bring them to life. And Sarah did an amazing job on a multi-session coverup for my wife. I cant recommend them highly enough.
