Absolutely excellent!My hybrid bike gearing got wrecked in a windstorm, so I needed a new rear derailleur, shifter, chain installation and all-around tune-up. After taking the bike to another mechanic in town who did a shoddy repair, I reached out to Omar, based on a recommendation from a good friend and mountain biking enthusiast.I ordered a few replacement parts on Amazon and scheduled service through the Nomad Bicycle Works website.Omar was super reliable, professional, friendly, trustworthy, and supportive and had a great passion for bikes. I was back up and rolling in about an hour, all before my morning meetings at work.When the job was done, Omar suggested I take a test ride and to push every gear of the bike pretty hard, just to test things out. The thing rode perfectly, even better than when the bike was originally built, and the gearing was flawlessly dialed-in. Im a commuter and had an urgent repair to fix. I called Omar, and he was able to squeeze me in. He was responsive to my text, and gave a follow-up call to ensure he knew what he was dealing with when he arrived. Highly recommend hiring Nomad for your bike fix. Omar responded to my appointment request immediately and only required a few pieces of information about the bike and that was it. He showed up early and was able to quickly assess the issues. My bike is a few years old and had quite a few issues and he was able to fix it all in under 2 hours and even provided a complimentary tune up and cleaned the bike up to look as good as new. He did the best he could to improve the bikes safety (poor Amazon purchase on our part -- cheap, shoddy parts and design) but didnt charge us because of his legitimate lingering safety concerns. Tipped him anyway for his time, skill, experience & honesty. He even provided a recommendation on a reputable American e-bike dealer. Punctual, reliable, knowledgeable, honest, fair. Omar was great - I booked him a day in advance for a 9am as he had an opening in his schedule. He came early, and finished ahead of schedule. He completely cleaned my bike and did a bunch of maintenance on it (and as a novice, a few things I didnt realize you could do) in about an hour. Afterwards he was nice enough to teach me a few a things about general at-home bike maintenance as well. Omar is definitely knowledge, I would recommend and will be using him again!

My last buddy mechanic saddly moved away and Nomad has so far more than filled my void. I have already had help with a custom build and the advice and knowledge has been invaluable. He came to my house (and was even early for the appointment!) pulled out and set up his mobile work station, toolboxes and a stand from the trunk of his car. And had my bike on there for a tune-up within minutes.After an hour or so he asked me to take it for a spin around the block to make sure the problem with the derailleur I was having was fixed properly. He even fixed a few things I didnt mention, including taping the handlebar and replacing a missing end plug on the handlebars.After a few more minor tweaks based on my feedback and it was working good as new. He then put the bike back up on the stand and explained the full scope of work he did. And perhaps what I appreciated most was that it wasnt mansplaining, it was a sincere and thorough walk through of what he did to make sure I understood it, while not talking down to me. Its clear he knows his stuff and is passionate about bikes, and that translates into trying to make sure I understood, too.Omars knowledge of bikes and his professionalism definitely set him apart. The fact that he was a nice guy on top of it all sets him apart. He was done in about an hour, just like he said, and took venmo as payment so it was a super easy transaction. 5 stars. I purchased an eBike and Omar made the building of the bike painless. Since he lives about a 30 min walk from where I live, I worked out a plan with Omar to receive the bike and build it and I would walk down to pick it up when it was ready. This saved me the hassle of trying to store a boxed bike and coordinate a build time once it was delivered. This worked out great as the bikes delivery was delayed by a day.When I picked up my bike, Omar spent about 30 minutes going over the bike, final adjustments on the bike lock, rack and seat as well as explaining standard daily/weekly maintenance.I will be seeing Omar again for my 750 mile tune-up and highly recommend his services as a bike mechanic.

Omar is a rock star. Although I purchased a road bike that was 80% preassembled, he spent 45+ minutes carefully installing all of the parts. He tested everything multiple times and provided guidance on how to properly maintain the bike (e.g. when to check tire pressure and how to adjust specific widgets). Responsive, honest, and an all-around good dude.

Omar is truly amazing!! He is prompt, knowledgeable, professional, courteous, and kind. He arrived at my house a little early and had his mobile work station already setup to start working on my bike.My bike was in pretty rough shape: very dirty from traveling, rusted chain, squealing disc breaks (EEK!). I wasnt quite sure what all was wrong with my bike, but Omar diagnosed everything and tried his very best to fix it all!!Prior to me going back inside to continue my workday, Omar made sure to ask if I would be on calls and we made a plan on how he could reach me (e.g., texting me when he was done and/or had questions) --SO THOUGHTFUL!! After an hour or so he text me that he was regrettably unable to finish and that I would likely need to take it into a shop. HOWEVER, he explained all that he did (and my bike looked SOOO much better than before) and a full recap of what was still wrong. Turns out my aluminum rear derailleur hanger was likely bent (leading to some shifting problems) and that my front brake pads need to be replaced.Because he was unable to finish though he still spent so much time and effort on my bike, he refused to be compensated because he was unable to completely finish the job. It is VERY clear he is passionate about what he does and takes pride in his work. I cannot put into word how much I appreciate his assistance and the work he did with my bike. Furthermore, he informed me that if I was able to get the parts he would be able to replace them on my bike.THANK YOU OMAR! 5 stars, I 10/10 recommend. I will definitely call again!

I dont write reviews very often, so...let me start with the appt process. You go to the website, upload pics of your bike, set an appt. Omar, who owns the business, reviews the pics and then calls - yes, an actual call - to talk further if he thinks he needs to know more or additional parts might be required. He is very clear with his questions, confirms what parts he has and which you need to purchase ahead of time, and then - he shows up to do the work. I am an in-between cyclist - not casual, but also not a racer. I like bikes tuned sweetly but I dont care about the .00001 calibration. Omar hit the sweet spot for me. He could do more to fine tune, but as we discussed, it simply wasnt necessary for me (and from the beginning I didnt want to spend the money on unnecessary gear). I love that between the call and the arrival discussion, he takes the time to figure out your sweet spot - if you are getting your kids bike up and running, it is different from when you are getting your racer tuned - and then he operates from that knowledge. Omar is able to perfectly complement your needs. The prices are exceeding fair and after a long bike ride yesterday, I can say the work is outstanding. Im really glad to add Omar to my list of trusted go tos.

Omar came early and worked hard on my mountain bike and gravel bike. Whenever I asked questions he would thoroughly explain to me what he was doing and why. Omar was incredibly helpful bleeding the front brake and replacing the front brake pads on a VanMoof S3. He was very communicative in the lead up to the appointment, guiding me through brake pad selection and managed around the difficult design of the bike. He returned a fully restored front brake to me in a short time and I appreciated that I didnt have to leave home! Will definitely be back when the need arises!

Cost, timeliness, service/communication, quality -- in D.C. I feel like you have to be willing to settle for two out of those four, typically. Omar and Nomad, however, nailed down all four.I really gave Omar a run for his money. A surly LHT Frankenstein project I had undertaken that quickly spiraled out of control. A quick exchange of emails and a phone call later, Omar showed up. What we thought would be a bit easier of a fix from my photos turned out to be far more of a bike resuscitation than originally thought. But heres the thing: Omars clear communication and check-ins meant I was never surprised. Four hours later he somehow salvaged this trainwreck of a project, at a cost that was low enough I thought he had forgotten a digit.Cant recommend this service enough.

Arrived right on time, finished early, and took the time to explain not only what he did but what to look out for in future. Was expecting (from previous bike shops/mechanics) to get shamed for my poor bike maintenance but didn’t get a scintilla of that attitude from Omar. I ordered a bike on line. When it arrived the packaging warned it had to be assembled by a professional and it had no instructions. When I called a bike shop the response was that it would be a wait of a mont to six weeks. When I sent a text to Omar he responded immediately. I dropped the bike off at 7 pm and at 10 am the next morning. He explained all about the gears and brakes and adjusted the seat. Great service. Great price. And right next door!

Omar is great. Highly recommend his services. He helped me out ~ a year ago to assemble an electric bike. He was fast and efficient and everything worked out great. He also did a tune up and helped me hook up front wheel locks and a U-lock (which would have taken me a while to figure out how to do). In both cases, he came to my apt and worked outside- very convenient and scheduling is a breeze. Really professional and easy to work with. He also explains what he did during the service. Omar was fast, professional, and responsive. And his prices were better than tune-ups I’ve received at shops in the past. My 10 year old bike rides like it’s brand new! I don’t think I would have thought about in-home bike repair/maintenance if it hadn’t been for COVID, but now I don’t think I’ll be going back to hauling my bike into the shop ever again.

I have a dinosaur bike, but it still gets around nicely. Ive taken it to two other bike shops in the area for maintenance. The tires and inner tubes replaced, but they kept going flat. Neither shop, even the shop that installed the tires could figure out why the tires kept going flat. I found Nomad BicycleWorks, read the reviews and gave Omar a call. He was very responsive. I sent photos, explained what was going on with the bike and dropped the bike off. Omar gave me a call with an assessment of what was going on with the tires and he would be able to not only fix the issue, but get the bike back to me the next day.When I arrived the next day, he once again explained what was happening with my tires. Ive already referred two other people to him (not sure if theyve called yet), so Im definitely recommending Nomad and Omar if you need bike repairs/maintenance. Great service!

Omar and Nomad Bicycle Works are great! I would give a sixth star if I could. Omar is super nice, meticulous, and highly skilled bicycle mechanic who is able to tackle repairs in the comfort of your own home. He changed the shifters on my road bike today and it rides better than it has in ages. Omar was a pleasure to deal with. The online booking was super easy, I received an email confirmation, and next thing I know hes right at my door on time. The ultimate in convenience!

Never go to a bike shop for a repair again -- have Omar come to you! Omar is fantastic -- setting up an appointment was easy. He came to my home, was careful and respectful of my rugs and walls while working, and fixed my bike in little time and did a great job. I was having a rear derailleur issue and Omar diagnosed the problem quickly and has me back up and running. He also cleaned my drive train, frame, and handlebars to boot. The cost was totally reasonable.On top of that, Omar was really a pleasure to chat with during his visit. Super friendly. I wont hesitate to call him again with my next repair issue.

I replaced a flat myself for the first time and I noticed something wrong with the way my wheel spun. I reached out to Omar and asked if he had a service option to check on my self repair since I wasn’t 100% confident. Omar was very personable and easy to work with and his prices are right on. Scheduling was a breeze. Very user friendly website. No problem at all communicating the pickup and drop off. Conveniently accepts pay pal and Venmo. I lived nearby but he will also come to you. I had a bag rack installed and a tune up. He walked me through everything he did and told me things I didn’t even know about my bike. Very informative. Also recommended things to do that will prolong the life of my bike, since it is older. Great for someone like me that knows very little about bike mechanics. I highly recommend. Will definitely be back.

I had such a great experience with Omar and Nomad Bicycleworks and cant recommend enough! Because Nomad is not a traditional brick and mortar shop, the experience isnt commercialized and I didnt have to compete with other customers who were trying to make purchases or feel like I was being treated as a transaction.Omar is incredibly personable, knowledgeable, and customer service oriented in a way that I have not previously seen in bike repair shops. It is important to know that your concerns are being heard and to feel comfortable asking questions of the person working on your bike. Omar gets top marks on all fronts. Just by being available for questions put him ahead of most repair shops in my experience but he understood my concerns and was completely transparent and communicative in answering questions and offering his expertise. I really appreciated the education and the good conversation. The prices are fair and even more so considering the quality of the service.I was immediately drawn to Nomad because of the Mobile Repair option, knowing that getting to a bike repair shop when your bike isnt rideable can be particularly difficult if its not near where you work/live. Though I did not use this option on this first visit, consistency is key and its an option that makes me feel comfortable that I wont need to use a different bike repair shop every time something comes up.Thanks Omar!

Omar faced a challenge with my 1985 Schwinn. It belonged to my mom and has a lot of sentimental value, but was in pretty bad shape. A number of things needed to be repaired and replaced including the tires and breaks. It also needed a bell and reflectors. I told Omar I wanted to keep the vintage aesthetic of the bike and he found a perfect retro shifter. He was very easy to communicate with and always made sure I was up to date on the status of my bike. He even forgave me when I didnt realize I personally needed to buy all the replacement parts after he made the trek to my house. (I still feel really bad about that!!) But he was incredibly nice about it. The bike came back looking great. Im so glad I came across Nomad BicycleWorks and I cant recommend Omars services enough!!

I recommend Omar for anyone in the DC area who needs all things bike repair. He was super professional and allowed me even during trying times to drop my bike off at his home office while taking all precautions to keep a safe social distance.I had a higher end bike shipped down and had parts in a box. He put it together in about an hour and sent pics as soon as it was ready. If you’re a transplant like me and don’t have a “go to” bike shop for repairs, or even if you do have one, check Omar out instead!

Omar was great! Very nice and thorough in his work and explanations. He comes to your house which makes it much easier. I appreciate his honesty about what repairs were worth and not worth it for my bike. I would definitely go to him again for future repairs and definitely recommend him for anyone wanting a great service!

Omar was knowledgable, reasonably-priced and FAST! I had grown accustomed to paying hundreds of dollars every time I went in for a tune up (including parts etc - our last one cost us half as much as the bike) and then having to wait as much as a few weeks to get my bike back, but Omar did an AWESOME job, charged me $75, and I didn’t have to spend ANY time without my bike. FREAKING AMAZING! Definitely recommend.

Omar is awesome! I normally take my bike to a shop, but I got a flat tire that I didnt discover until I got home. I dont live anywhere near a bike shop and dont have a car, so I needed a solution that could come to me.I snapped the required pictures and emailed Omar, who responded almost instantaneously and quoted me a price by email. He came one hour later with all the tools he needed to fix the tire. He was fast, professional, and very kind. He also gave me some tips for how to avoid flats in the future. While working on my bike, he discovered a more significant problem. He gave me advice on what was wrong and how much a bike shop should charge to fix it that next time I go in. I am extremely pleased. Thank you Omar! I am a huge fan and will definitely use Nomad again.

TOP OF THE LINE. I dont write many reviews, but Nomad certainly deserved. First off, its important to know that I was asking for an ENTIRE bike build, not just a tune up. My bike was literally completely disassembled in pieces. Instead of having to drag all of them to Nomad, the Team literally came to me and assembled the entire bike in my home....for only $85. You will not fine that kind of quality service or pricing anywhere else in D.C. Nomad....thank you!!
