Best place to buy craft beer in DC. They have a wide selection of local brews, craft beers from across the US, and international beers as well as cider, wines, and craft liquors. The staff are super helpful and are always happy to answer any questions or help you find something as well as give recommendations.

I come here to satisfy my need for beers that are typically not well stocked elsewhere, or are only available elsewhere seasonably. To my surprise, for a specialty and bottle shop, prices are competitive. When stocking up on my favorites, I like to support a locally owned franchise, rather than a grocery store, so its nice that they reciprocate with hanging prices the same or close to same as big competitors. Give this a shot if youre a beer drinker!

Amazing place, and always a joy to visit. Very knowledgeable staff that is always willing to help you find new beers based off of your tastes. You can buy single cans to try things out, or get a 4/6-pack for those you love. They have a great selection of local DMV beers, as well as other large and small craft breweries from across the US and the world. They also have a fantastic selection of ciders and seltzers.

When all hope to find single beers to buy was lost I found this beer paradise with a helpful staff that was patient enough to let me choose a few beers around their closing time. Now I know for the next time Im in DC. Too bad I just found it on my last night here.

Honestly don’t consider myself a beer person, but the ability to buy speciality beers one at time to taste test makes a huge difference to me as a consumer. I’ll happily pay more for one to see if I like it before I’d buy a 6 pack.Also, if you want help they’ll help you, if you go in minding your own business they leave you alone.The way retail should be!

Great selection and service. Staff personally helped me maximize the quality of my choices within 8.5L pre-duty allotment to take back home across the border. Only place in DC that sells singles as well supposedly...Super convenient.

A fantastic selection and knowledgeable staff made visiting here from out if town very enjoyable. The shop is laid out in a very manageable way, from east to west, with a good selection of local stuff as well (and a couple shelves of imports). Highly recommended!

Love this place! They have a great selection of craft beers and ciders as well as some liquor options from local DC distillers. My favorite part is that you can make your own 6-pack. It’s honestly fun just to walk around, look at the “can art”, and ask the friendly staff for their recommendations.

They’re not a warehouse for sure, but they aren’t overly precious either. Really cool selection. Staff is genuinely helpful in helping you through styles or regions you’re not familiar with. Great place to pick up gift beers, especially fun, unique, high quality bombers. Wish I had different commuting route to make stops here more frequent. They are even very generous in packaging up your purchase for walking it home.

The thing to remember about craft beer cellar is that the beer is fine: they often have big release beers fresh, and they have some oddities. but everyone who works there is the biggest NOVA tool of all time. They think they know a lot more about beer than they do, and they never believe you know anything about beer--unless you are also a NOVA tool. Its worth getting much crappier beer across the street to not have to deal with the folks behind the counter.

Craft Beer Cellar DC looks fancy enough to over charge you for beer, but dont judge this shop by its store front. Its one large room with beer and cider organized by the region in which it comes from. A few reasons why this store deserves a four star rating:1) They have a large selection of beer from all around the country and nation. If you like craft beer, youll find some great options here.2) You can buy beer by the bottle and mix and match anything in the store.3) If youre on a budget, you can find options that are reasonable.4) They have a bigger than normal cider selection! If you like sweet, I recommend Austins Honey Texas Cider.If you know youll frequent the cellar, sign up for their rewards program!

Good selection of beers and several ciders with a friendly, helpful, and reasonably knowledgeable staff. The store is broken up mostly by region, although not exactly, so if youre looking for a specific type of beer it may be next to something completely different on the shelf. Its not particularly cheap, and there are some offerings where youd get a better price across the street at the Giant, but the low end is still around $10 for a six pack. A big plus is that you can mix and match together a six-pack from the entire store, so tasting a lot of different beers is easy.My chief complaint would be that the pricing system is a bit of a mess. Handwritten numbers written directly on the shelf are not easily legible, and due to the number different bottle/can sizes, 6-packs versus 4-packs, it is extremely difficult to compare prices without closely checking each product. Since the store is sorted by region, not by type, its quite cumbersome to compare the price of a Belgian ale from Belgium with a Belgian ale from the East Coast. Pricing per ounce would be extremely helpful. However, they have just opened recently, so I can only assume that a more sophisticated labeling system is in the works.

I used this place for Bag BNB storage. But the staff was great. Communicated really well. The shop was quite beautiful as well only downside is that they close at 8 I think.

Selection is superb. Almost the whole store is mix and match. They set limits for limited releases, which increases your chance of trying some really great stuff without the restaurant mark up. You may think up to $4+ for a can of beer is a lot, but think what you would pay for a rare craft beer at a bar!

Some might be disappointed. But I felt it was extremely well curated, with many hard to find selections. No they didnt have every rare and obscure thing there, but they had a lot. This place is the best place to buy beer in the DMV. They will match prices (but I havent seen better pricing elsewhere), they have tastings from breweries near and far most weekends, and have a great selection and knowledgable staff!

Nice little shop on H Street that has beer, cider, mead and a little hard liquor. Kind of a boutique beer store, with attentive, friendly service. They often have brewery reps giving tastings (3 out of my last 3 visits).One nice touch is that they allow breaking up 4- and 6-packs, so you can get just one or two of something to try (which I quite like). They also can log your purchases by phone number, so can tell you what youve previously purchased, allowing you to either re-purchase or avoid things depending upon how you liked it.The one drawback is due to the small footprint, they have a somewhat limited selection. Not their fault; they cram it pretty full (reminiscent of the Village Pump in College Park). Id like to see them in a space 3-4 times larger!
