We were surprised to find such a nice zoo here on our way to Dallas from Austin. Exhibits were well taken care of and mechanical areas were well hidden. We spent 2 hours here just walking through and taking pictures. Look out for giant school field trip groups during the week. That was a bit annoying as they kept our kids from being able to see things well. This day was so windy that tree branches were breaking left and right and flying all over the place. I wont take a star away for this because it was not predictable, but the zoo staff was nowhere to be found and nobody showed any concern for guests safety. There was no clean up, warning signs or anything. I didnt think of it until a branch flew right into us during a big gust.Aside from the random wind storm, we thought it was a really nice zoo. Like a smaller version of the Dallas or SA zoos, but just as well kept.
Perfectly sized zoo for my 15 month old. Takes us about 2 hours to get through at a medium pace. But that can easily be sped up or slowed down.I havent been since 2009 so it was nice to come back and see how it had been upgraded. Still very enjoyable. All the animals were moving around when we went since a cool front was passing through.
One of the most beautiful Zoos I have ever been too! Me and my wife try to make it a point to visit the zoo in every city that we visit. This is thus far the most beautiful and the design is great as it gives you an opportunity to see all the animals even as they hide. On this particular day, the animals were active. If you didnt know there is also vultures roaming around as they call the park their home!!
Took my son to the Cameron Park Zoo today and we had a great time! It’s small, but they have a nice verity of animals to look at. It took us around 2hrs total to go through the whole zoo, and we felt it was worth what we paid, but it did feel slightly lacking in certain areas. Overall a great experience and would recommend if you’re in town and looking for something fun for the family!
The Cameron Park Zoo was an extraordinary experience. The exhibits were very diversified. Lions, Bison, Sea life etc. Animals seemed to have very humane habitats and are well taken care of. The only downside was the lack of maps and exhibits such at the ocean life and night at the Brazos being hard to see. The night at the Brazos exhibit was unmarked and nearly missed by my group and others around us. The door appeared to be locked with a pad lock but wasnt upon inspection. The door wasnt labeled as an entrance ether which is a shame because it was an amazing experience. Overall, the zoo was a great day trip and well worth the time spent. Just be sure to see it all!
Probably one of my most favorite zoos Ive visited to date. Lots of animals that I havent seen before, and I love the interactive classes they do. Its fun to listen to the zoo keepers, and they answer your questions so friendly even though you know its probably the hundredth time its been asked this week! Loved the paved walkways that were mostly covered with shade trees or awnings. Some of the exhibits werent open & some of the food places were closed as well when we went in January because of covid. Really liked the way the kids could slide through the otter tank! Theres a gorgeous trail & park right outside the entrance, so bring a picnic lunch & be prepared to have an incredible family outting!
Cameron Park Zoo in Waco is a nice place to visit. Its got plenty of animals, including lions, tigers, bears, giraffes, elephants and plenty of others. One of my favorite is the Otters. I love watching them swim and play in the water and on the land. I can sit and watch them for hours. There is also plenty of shade in the zoo so on warm and hot days there is always some place to cool off. Definitely one of my favorite places to go for a relaxing afternoon.
For a relatively medium size zoo this is excellent, especially for the price. We drive from Austin because its that good. Decent exhibits with excellent views from multiple directions of the animals. The restaurants arent great but their reusable souvenir cups are worth the purchase price. We particularly enjoy the Texas Native section of the zoo. Also, they have Bison, which I havent seen in other local zoos.
Such a wonderful little gem hidden away in Waco . Ive never been to this zoo, but I had always heard good things. I very glad I was able to experience it with my family. Not at all crowded. The animals here have much more room to roam in compared to other parks Ive visited. Only complaint is the Eagles cage. Kinda hurt my heart to see such a specimen in such a small cage. 90% of the walking area is covered by trees so there is plenty of shade for those hot summer days. Most of the indoor displays are air conditioned so that was a plus. Over all 2 thumbs up from me
My experience at the zoo was a pleasant one. The staff was helpful and friendly. I took mom and rented a chair for $10.00. I do not think that there should be a charge for a W/C after paying a fee for the visit. The chair had one functional break and wasnt very clean. I requested to have it cleaned and the staff was happy to assist. Many places that offer a W/C will have a charge associated which I think is unreasonable. After visiting a safari at the Mabula lodge in Johannesburg, a zoo seems weird.
We met up with our cousins at the Cameron Park Zoo in the early part of March 2020 right before the pandemic. It was a wonderful zoo and very easy for all of our toddlers to walk or ride in a wagon. For lunch we had a picnic that we brought into the park. The playground was amazing and it had a wonderful and fast slide that all the kids enjoyed. The park was well laid out and easy to walk and enjoy.
Love coming to this zoo. It would be awesome to see more staff around talking about exhibits and animals. Very excited to see the expansion with an new exhibit. By the way the scavenger hunts are amazing. Loved participating in the Disney Scavenger hunt.
Nice zoo. Clean. Animals looked well kept. Staff was friendly. Affordable! Restrooms clean and stocked. Plenty of things to do with the kids throughout the zoo, like a playground area with splash pad, snack snacks, and more!
A small zoo but wow! It’s great to walk and see the animals. And they have great animals. It’s not like the big city zoos but that’s ok because they do it right. I really enjoyed my time. The staff was nice. It got busy so get there when it first opens especially on the weekends.
This was a great little zoo. It was well kept and there was a nice selection of animals.
Great place for kids and grown ups.. 😊 Very nicely maintained and clean place. Animals are also very nice and healthy.
Had fun today at the zoo, not as much animals as it did years ago but it was cool and the aquarium there was new to me; a lot of shade which was great in this heat; I do wish there were hand sanitizers at the indoor stations but we had our own regardless. I can check this one off the list as another outing out the house!
Its not huge, but its well laid out and well maintained. The animals were fairly active (it was a 70° day in February), which was great. The staff was helpful and professional. Its definitely worth visiting, especially if youve come to Waco for the Mammoth park. Both sites fit in a day easily.
Loved this zoo perfect size for little ones, did the whole place in about 2 hours comfortably.
Loved the zoo and so did my 2 year old. We will definitely be back very soon and the price is great.
I was so hyped to come here! Unfortunately it was a huge disappointment. Those poor cougars are in too small of an area, they have literally worn a path with their pacing. The elephant and the dikdik need friends! They are HERD animals! I will say the lions and the tiger were awesome and the Orangutan who covered itself in a feed bag to take a nap was super cute, but for the most part I wont waste my time driving 2 hours to get there ever again.
This zoo is definitely one of my favorites! The animals are in a more natural setting with less concrete.
I took my granddaughters to the zoo yesterday. While they had a good time a couple of habitats had only one animal and my 4 year old made comments about them being all alone. It was kind of sad.I was also very put off by the black bear exhibit. There was one bear and 20 or 30 vultures. It felt like they were waiting on him to die so they could pick his bones. Finally, one of the coyotes was obviously stressed. He panted and paced vigorously through out its enclosure. I wish there was something that could be done for it. :(
Great park. Lots of shade and places to sit. Variety of animals. Even a Emo Nemo.
Wonderful small city zoo! Well laid out. Most animals were easy to find and many close up. Several play areas. The small splash pad was not working on our visit. Loved the glass tunnel through the otters. Lots of animals to see.
I went with my cousins and had a blast. All the play area are clean and the animals are very happy.
Well we have been before to this zoo and this most recent time I thought it would be busy but it wasnt, even for a Saturday. We got our tickets promptly and went in, you have to download a map, but we didnt need one. Most of the animals were out, eventhough it was hot. Some were more active than others, but no zookeepers except 2 that we saw near the front discussing the different vultures found in Texas and the United States. After that, not a single zookeeper in sight! Well, one did walk by us as we were stopping toget drinks and we asked him about the tortoise being stuck on one exhibit. He assured us that was normal for that particular enclosure but would let someone know what was going on in that area. There was only one watering trough for the bison, that concerned us as they were panting. One of them finally walked on the other side of the enclosure to get some shade and a drink...We only saw one elephant too, which was odd. The orangutans were active! And showing off for the visitors, so that was cool. Not enough areas to get drinks and food but its a smaller zoo, except for vending machines. They have two dining areas.
It rained us out about half way thru but it was very enjoyable. The animals were very active and it was fun experience. Bathrooms were clean.
This was my first time coming here. It was a pretty cool experience. I came with my sister and her family. I would definitely return; plus, we didnt get to see every exhibit.
One of my favoritest zoos in Texas!!! Lots of shade and beautiful areas to sit!! So many areas designated for the kiddos to run around, play and get that energy out!! Even a splash pad! Our family has gone several times now. Its just one of those places you could spend the whole day there.
We had a great day at the zoo. Its a great size for the kids to walk without a stroller and not get too tired. There were many people there and an abundance of horribly behaved kids, which wasnt the zoos fault, but still detracted from our trip. We would definitely go back though, overall we had a good time.
We had a wonderful time. Small zoo but perfect for a day trip. Kids loved it. Super clean. Love the nursing pods available!
Very nice zoo. Lots of trees and shade areas.
I love Cameron Park Zoo! You cannot find a better zoo in this price range. I have paid almost twice this amount and not have the same quality. It is perfect for a family outing
Great place for the kiddos, lots of different animals. Loved the aquariums. Family really enjoyed it had a great time. It was very busy place, masks are required indoors and in some out animal exhibits.
Very nice small zoo with a great layout and landscaping. we went to see the ocelot but they must have taken them of exhibit.same with blackbears. Still a great visit and would come back to visit again.
Cute affordable zoo. The layout of the zoo is easy to navigate and not miss any animals.
Visited this small zoo with my grandkids. It was hot and humid but a pleasant experience. They have a small splash pad on the playground.
Awesome Zoo arrived around 11am left at closing 5pm entire family enjoyed. Wife and kids could have stayed longer without our own animal responsibilitys. 😀
Fun zoo with plenty of animals. We spent two hours walking around and viewing. Fed a giraffe for a small fee.
Lots of fun. Take your time going through it though. Also make 2 laps around to make sure you see all the animals.
Love this zoo! Wide variety of animals, easy stroll and can see everything in a couple hours.
Loved this zoo it took bout 2 hours to see everything with our 2 kids. They have a lot of animals to look at. My absolute favorite thing though was they had a nursing pod it had 3 suits in it. It also had a beautiful rocking chair and ac which really helped as it was hot and normally I get all hot then have to pump all sweaty then feed my baby. This was a great addition to the zoo I wish more places have a nursing pod or a nursing room which most places dont and I end up having to pump in the bathroom which is super uncomfortable and inconvenient since most places dont have outlets to plug my pump.
I took my date here today and I gotta say I was not expecting this place to be so big! What a wonderful place to bring friends and family too in Waco! I think they need more advertising because I had no idea this place was so well stocked full of animals! I had so much fun today and saw animals I thought I would never get to see in my life! The staff was fun and friendly and the place was relatively clean and kept (considering this years challenges). I will be coming back and I encourage everyone to pay this wonderful place a visit.
We enjoyed the trip to the zoo. The animals were not as excited as us. They seem to be asleep or haft asleep . But overall, i had fun!!!!
Fun zoo! Poor rhinos enclosure is WAY under sized & yall need hand sanitizer stations....other then those 2 issues it was a great zoo day!
We all loved it there had a fantastic time
Great small zoo takes 2-3hrs to get through so many fun and entertaining animals to see in great habitats
It was fun jus me and my boyfriend went I figured it was goin to be alot bigger and have more attractions but overall it was ok
Wonderful zoo for a quick morning trip. It takes about 3 hours to get from start to finish.
Great place with a wide variety of reptiles, African and Asian animals. Kids enjoyed a lot
Ive taken my kids here since they were babies, its definitely been some years since weve been and it was bitter sweet taking them today and seeing how much they enjoyed it.
Gorgeous landscaping and thoughtfully designed exhibits provide excellent habitats for animals and enjoyable viewing for humans! Welcoming and knowledgeable staff. Keeper comments and updates inform visitors about the animals care and show concern for the health and well-being of all zoo inhabitants. I could visit every day!
Wonderful family trip to the Waco/Cameron Park Zoo. Too bad we couldn’t stay terribly long with the little one - but lots to see!
Great zoo. Well-laid out, with lots of shade.
My granddaughter and I enjoyed visiting the zoo yesterday. She has been before on field trips and did so well as a guide. It was hot outside but there are plenty of areas to take a break and even cool down. A very well kept zoo and lovely animals and pleasant employees.
Lovely, well organized zoo with a lot of shade. It was so hot when we went, I was afraid we wouldnt be able to enjoy ourselves. Between the shade and bomb pops purchased at the concession stand, we did great. The animal habitats are often large and spacious. The animals appear to be in good condition and have plenty to keep them occupied in the enclosures. If there is a quirk to the zoo, its that black vultures have decided this serene, shady place is an excellent place to roost. They were in the bear enclosure and just about everywhere you looked. Still, they added to the experience.Im looking forward to going on a crisp fall day next time.
Decent zoo for being in central Texas.
Nice little zoo, not too big not too small. We went during Thanksgiving week and the animals were all out It was a cool day only in the upper 50s. We had 5 kids and grandparents, everyone had fun. Food is not overpriced. Dinner was hand sanitizer and you had to wear masks indoors only.
I didt have time getting into the Zoo, only walking on the trail, enjoyed this very nice and beautiful area.
Took my 15 month old and he loved it.The zoo was so clean, and had filtered water fountain throughout the whole park, which was very convenient for 100 degree weatherLooking forward to my next visit already
Nice place. Their aquarium is the bomb. Loved the wide mouth fish. I liked the wild vulture s theyre a great addition to the zoo I think. Should get rid of white tail deer and put wart hogs.
The zoo has a nice layout. Not so big that you are worn out, but plenty of variety of animals. A lot of shade and wide paths.
Proper size and variety for small kids. You feel closer to certain animals but this also means some animals need bigger habitat. The zoo has been performing good pandemic precautions, so just remember wearing masks. Pleasant visit in a Saturday morning.
Nice and shady but some animals werent out to view. Could be weather related, however still a nice visit and easy to bring kids. Like it enough to have season pass
Awesome place. Really lived it. Lots of cool animals to see. You can tell they take good care of all the animals
Great Zoo!! Bigger than I expected and way more animals!
Nice place for children
Awesome Zoo!!! Cant wait to go back!
My family and I love this zoo!! It is very shady and have many benches and seating all around the entire zoo. We loved all of the animals and the zoo employees were very nice. We will go back again!!
Amazing place .kids will have a great time .outdoor fun sight seeing and lots of walking .great for family fun
Had a great time with my family
Best zoo I’ve been to! So glad I got yearly membership pass, very affordable and provides year-round opportunities for us to have weekend fun! It’s not so big that’s it’s overwhelming, provide lots of shaded areas and indoor exhibits to cool off, a kids play area and splash pad, very clean and well-maintained. We love it!
This is a very nice zoo. They have 49 exhibits & they are adding a penguin exhibit soon. It took us about 3 hours to do the whole thing, but we do like to take our time. The Orangutans were my favorite. They seemed to be showing off. They are so smart & playful. Their habitat there was enormous - they had so much room to move - and they enjoyed every inch of it!In my opinion, it is not wheelchair or walker friendly because of the steep inclines & declines. We didnt bring our son today because we didnt know what to expect & Im kinda glad we didnt. Hes an adult & 135 pounds +/- and it would have been difficult to push him through this zoo. Everyones different & this is just my opinion. The only complaint I have is that there were parts that smelled really, really bad. Like old, rotten &/or moldy smells. Im not talking about the poop or anything youd expect at a zoo, but these were like faulty pumps or unclean ponds or inadequate ventilation. Maybe there is not money for upkeep right now - Im sure attendance is not what it normally is during COVID. Hopefully attendance will pick up & these issues can be resolved.
Great zoo. Well maintained. Animals dont seem in distress. Plenty of places to sit and things for kids to play on. Theres a splash pad and a playground. Very friendly staff. Theres a concession stand and often vendors on the walk for snacks and drinks. Today we stopped at a vendor for floats. Plenty of rest areas. Well worth the yearly membership.
Little bit of vulture infestation..was little disturbing to me as I am scared of them. There was hundreds of them all over the zoo. Other than that, my family and I had a good time.
Almost every cage had its animals out playing, great place for family, friends, or even a cute date, they also have spots for you to throw a birthday party! Ma family and I just went this Saturday for our Family reunion, and we had the time of our lives! Great place for making memories! Gift shop prices arent so bad either!
Great Zoo for the preschool age group, takes about 3 hrs which is just right. Bathrooms are well kept and the Zoo doesnt feel crowded even when the lot is full.
As good as it can be during Covid. It was fun to see the animals and the costumes for Halloween. I like the Spooktactular scavenger hunt except my phone died before we were done. The food truck pizza wasnt worth the price though. The gift shop was great!
Nice park. Plenty of different animals to see
It was a really fun experience to see the animals and it is great if you want some exercise or want to spent some time friends and family.
Really enjoyed our visit here. Didnt get to see the entire zoo because of the heat but we really liked what we seen. Son had a great time at the splash pad. We will be returning to see what we missed.
Wonderful well laid out zoo. Staff were friendly. Lots of fun things for kids to do although the small splash pad wasnt working on our visit.
