Discover the jungle by boat or on foot and get to know the elephant family. Spot rhinoceroses and giraffes up close during your truck safari across the savannah. Visit the new Raccoon Creek, go on a polar expedition and come face to face with polar bears and penguins.Besides being a Zoo, its also a great place for kids to play on the several huge playgrounds they have. The biggest playground is indoor and my guess is the most dad’s might wish they were young again to climb the obstacles. The park is big! We were there around 11 and left when the park closed at 6. We could have spend more time if we wanted so make sure you are in time.A great Zoo to visit with or without kids. Nice themes and well setup. There are food and drink facilities around every corner. (regular theme park pricing..)This is more than just a Zoo and worth a visit! You can park your car for free at Parking Oost, and then walk for about 8 minutes to the entrance of the park. You can also park your car closer to the park but costs around 10 euro.Have fun! We sure did.
Very diverse park, with good rides! This park isnt like any other zoo, as it has a couple of rides you would expect in an amusement park. However, I cannot call the park COVID-safe.The amusement park has three main themes: jungle, savanna/desert and water. These themes all have their own areas which you can explore. In all areas, you will find tiny playgrounds and mazes. These are aimed at the little ones, as the whole park is aimed at 6-12 year olds. However, the grown-ups can also expect extras from the park, like a rollercoaster, or a 4D cinema experience. I really liked both of them, as they really gave me a break from the walking around the park and let me enjoy it in other ways. I enjoyed the safari ride in the savanna area the most, as it gave you an opportunity to marvel the animals up close. Those rides really add for a more diverse and fun experience. As for the zoo itself, there are a lot of animals. The information about them is informative while being enjoyable as they list short facts at every field. Because the paths walk around every habitat, you are able to view the animals from every possible angle. The only negative thing about the park are the COVID-19 safety measures. I could acces the park from the very beginning, the very first timeslot. At that time, we could keep a safe distance from everyone. But at 12:00 the park was extremely crowded to the point that keeping a safe distance was not possible anymore. In the butterfly house, I could not turn my back or I would hit someone, something that cannot happen during these times. This is why I give Wildlands 4 stars. When all COVID is over, it deserves 5 stars.
The best zoo safari/experience Ive been so far and my family goes to a lot around the world. I love the way they accommodate so much space for the animals. Fun factor is also 5 stars. Super highly recommended!
We had such an amazing day at the park that it deserves nothing less than the perfect score. The normally fully accessible park now had a mandatory walking route, but it never felt restricting or intrusive. The enclosures were beautifully themed and decorated, with lots of happy animals living together to marvel at and enjoy. An absolute gem!
Pros: This is a nice and modern zoo to visit and a great place to bring young kids. A full walk-around takes about 4 hours on a healthy pace. Theres a very nice indoor playground with insufficient lighting. Still, the kids like (the dark) playground a lot. So a shorter visit during rainy days is also definitely an option.Cons: Theres a very misplaced roller coaster (!), it should be sold to a theme park and the money should be invested in more animals and some tweaking. For instance, the new aquarium is nothing more than a budget fishtank and contributes nothing to the awesome little aquarium next to the playground. I was expecting a reclocation of those animals.Parking is too expensive, go park somewhere else.
Nice Zoo with two Rides (Short Roller Coaster and River Ride). It is very convenient that in front of the Zoo entrance there is a Center Area and Shopping mall.
Great zoo and very big, have a lot of animal sorts and every thing in included the ticket price .. parking paid alone but its 9 euro for the complete day so its very cheap.. and the worker there also very helpful and so kind and can know any thing from them .. there are also smoking areas and there are toilets every where and this is very helpful.I recommend this zoo very much.
Stunning adventure zoo. Our kids loved it and so did we! Impressive playgrounds, especially the indoor play jungle, but also throughout the park. Safara theme is very thoroughly executed, and the animal areas are big and setup well. River boats, safari truck, the rollercoaster and the jungle trail were all big hits!
Place is a bit crowded and there are barely any measures against COVID-19. Overall, the place is nice for kids to release some energy. There are a lot of things for them to climb on and to go sightseeing the animal kingdom.
Wildlands is not a Zoo but an adventure park. You can walk among the wild (but not to wild) animals, visit the amazing indoor playground and take a ride in the roller coaster. You can easily spend a day here. The prices are very reasonable.
A nice animal park/zoo. If you are taking children, there is lots for them to do and keep them occupied. Plenty of places to eat and get snacks. Went in the day time, but apparently the night time is amazing as they have all lights on.
Awesome! How a zoo should be. Inbetween walk routes they have attractions for kids. This takes the bore out of endless walking for them. 4 different routes to walk. Jungola is cool thanks to the boatride. Very good!
Fantastic place loads to do and see!!! Really good value for money! A great day out
This zoo is like a theme park with live animals. Truly an experience unlike other zoos in The Netherlands. Especially the real game drive and boat ride through the jungle are amazing.
Nice zoo, good variety of animals and environments.Wildlands is a relatively new zoo and everything about the park shows this. Modern style areas for the animals with plenty space for them to roam whilst still allowing the public to view them. Attractions in between vary from a rollercoaster to a 3d ride.Nice variety of restaurants and shops complement the zoo.Was a great visit even though the weather let us down that day
A beautiful modern zoo theme park with spacious places for the animals. Right after the entrance is the central square from where you can discover the several areas.Dont forget to visit the rollercoaster!
On first hand it looked like a zoo like many others: you have some animals in a recreated habitat.Upon a few minutes within Wildlands it became clear that the classic image you have from a zoo is incorrect. The habitats are surprisingly big and offer a variety of shelter and activities for the animals. But when you continue the difference between a traditional zoo cant be more obvious. Here the animals are really the stars. When possible the animals can roam freely within their zone, even between the visitors. It is immediately clear that we as visitors are guests in their domain. This makes the Wildlands an incredible experience not just for kids but for everyone. Definitely worth a visit and even a revisit.
Nice place. Well maintained. Specific walking routes as Covid measure. Using rebate codes the pricing is OK. Otherwise quite over priced
Great zoo with all kinds of animals, you can enjoy a boatride, with a train across the park, or even in a rollercoaster.Lots of eating places.A nice place for a day out.
Beautiful place with lots of space for all species. Nice indoor playground, as well.
A great experience for our corporate event. The behind the scenes tour with knowledgeable guide, was excellent amd the food service for our large, private group was also delivered and enjoyed.
Great zoo with extras. A safari bus ride and also a roller-coaster! Fantastic! 😄
For me, a fantastic park 🤗🌷🇳🇱
This is the closer zoo which we can visit, entree price is 35euros and for 75 I bought an abonament for all year. Parking cost a lot there .. 2euro per hour and you need to be in the zoo like 5h to see it all. My kids love this place but I have to be careful during walk there with my 2 years old one because is a lot of places where she can fall down, especially by elephants. The fences are made from wood with huge space in between.. and never come on the weekend if you want to use all attractions, otherwise u have wait in the queue like 30min .. with 2 kids no possible .. I cant wait when there will be some kindergarten for small kids .
Super place with kids to spend a day .
A very nice park where most animals have lots of habitat space.
Amazing area! Special: feed the Lori! Fun going by boat through the jungle and with a truck through the savanna. The Rollercoaster is so much fun - but heres also the reason for not reaching 5 stars... Wed been there on a day with almost no visitors and asked if we may ride again (2 people waiting...) and the girl working at the coaster was so inpolite and unfriendly that no 5 stars can be reached.
The visuals of the park are amazing. It really has a nice atmosphere, almost has a feel of a theme park. The animals looked happy and have each a nice area. Park feels big. You can definitely be there more than 3 hours! They have a great selection of animals.
This zoo is awesome! But it depends on your family situation. Having 2 small kids, we totally loved this zoo. Not only is it visually stunning, has a nice selection of wildlife, and offers them some of the largest space to live in but everywhere you go there is stuff for kids to do / climb on / play with. There are also lots of indoor activities for kids, usually combined with coffee / restaurants. Especially the big indoor playground with water / sand playing area was a big hit!So they had the time of their life playing here and learning about the animals. The zoo also decided to drop prices, so its a better value going there, and it has ample parking space nearby. Staff was very friendly and good with kids.
Great family day out! You get to see so many animals and I think the best part is that they try get as close to the animals habitat as possible. Little jungle with a boat tour, a safari with a little safari style ride and even off to the cold for a sea lion show and a polar bear.
Great park! The main areas are very nicely themed and look great. The park is clean and has enough restrooms. Price-wise it is a bit on the high side, but with coupons you can shave off a few Euros to make it a very fair price. The animals seem to be handled with care and seem happier than most Zoo animals. The amount of animals was on the low side but still fairly OK. Hope to see a few more species on my next visit.
Probably the best zoo of the Netherlands! The animals have great enclosures with lots of space!
The zoo has been upgraded a while back and I hadnt been to the new park. I really loved the new feel, especially the jungle and desert parts make you feel like youre actually somewhere else. Also the addition of special rides are great. The Rollercoaster is one thing, but I really liked the boat trip through the jungle. Very happy with the new park. The only thing I found a little strange was the entrance which really doesnt give away the nice feeling the rest of the park did.
Excellent place. It is a zoo but also has attractions. There are different stations; they look like little villages. Is these stations you will find snacks, toilets and things to do. Really well organized. It really feels that you are in different countries in these place. The food prices are ok for a park. They have a lot of variaties. Waiting lines are not that long. You dont have to pay extra for the attractions. They have a bote ride in the jungle, also a safari bus, a roller coaster, etc, etc.
First and foremost, this is not a standard zoo. It’s like a cross between a theme park and zoo. It might not be for everyone but our kids and my wife and I really liked it. The theming of the areas is excellently executed with a real attention to detail. The animals have spaced and as visitors you really feel like you are amongst the animals. My reservations are there, sure, around polar bears in zoos but that aside a great day out with kids. Will definitely go back if in the area.
A really nice place to spot wildlife in their naturaly habitat! The animals looking really good and healty!I wonder why less people discovered this animal kingdom?🤔
Best ZOO Ive ever been
Wonderful place for the kids to play! We went on Dec 31st and felt like we had the runnof the place!
Wildlands has become a mixture of largely an interactive zoo with a little bit of amusement park thrown in there. The park is clean, has enough accommodations and the animals looked healthy and active. Also, waiting lines werent unreasonably long which is always nice. For me, its a definite recommendation if you have grown a bit tired of traditional Zoos.
Great mix of adventure and zoo. Should visit at least once in your life. Seriously worth it.
Beautiful park, lots of details in decoration, some areas youre between free roaming animals, animals seem happy
Decent evening out. The night visit in winter had its own charm however Ive not been to it in the day. Allegedly the largest in Holland or something along those lines; its big but not That big. The animal varieties are less of an attraction than the whole set up in itself with different world climates such as Jungle being a section of the park.Good sealion show, poor magic show (notwithstanding the language barrier), decent mini roller coaster (go on both tracks, they differ slightly with the right hand side being better) which you can seemingly go on as many times as you want.. also a mini boat ride (on a track really on water) which takes you to see the elephants. All in all not a bad night out even for 3 adult lads - excellent for kids and especially in Emmen as there is literally nothing else aside from the football stadium (which we all watched a game at).
The Wildlands Adventure Zoo is an excellent modern and atmospheric combination of an adventure park and a Zoo. There are at least three major settings in which the animals can thrive in semi-natural habitats: an arctic setting (Nortica), a savanah setting (Momma Dunia/Serenga) and a jungle environment in an heated hall (Jungola). Each of these themes has been worked out very well with extensive thematic decorations. Then there is an extensive indoor playground (Animazia), an outdoor Rollercoaster (Tweestrijd, which means something like In Dubio) and an indoor animated thrill ride, and last but not least a nice boat ride in the Jungola dome. Throughout the park are a wide variety of sit-down restaurants and food truck style outlets, ensuring there is a continuous and varied offer of food and beverage. Two major gift shops make the thing complete. A couple of parking lots are surrounding the Zoo location. Tickets are not cheap, but worth it - moreover, there are quite often special offers through Wildlands own website, discount websites and Dutch lotteries such as the Postcode lottery.
Very nice zoo. More then a zoo really, they really try to give you an experience with decor and rides. Due to this not all animals you would find in their zoo in the past are still there. But all the animals have plenty of space
The Zoo at the center of Emmen has moved permanently to the outer skirtWhich also changed the name into Wildlands Adventure Zoo to attract tourists as wellHaving significant reduced price tickets it was time to visit the renewed parkIt was an enjoyable day with trendy mechanical attractions, but lesser animals, reptiles, insects than it used to beNonetheless it didnt bother us26 & 27 May 2016
Awesome zoo with 3 distinguished areas/environments (Ice, Dessert and Jungle) along with animals that would live in those areas. There is a ride in every area. I enjoyed the Jungle themed indoor part the most. With a boat ride which is awesome because it takes you through the whole Jungle, you can get very close to the elephants if youre lucky. It also has multiple climeable towers which are connected with rope bridges (like the real thing). This part also has a restaurant so parents can rest for a bit and their children can go about doing their exploring safely indoors. So it was a very pleasant day at the adventure zoo. Would definitely recommend going here. But I wouldnt recommend eating in the restaurant near the exit. Which is open 1 hour longer than the park itself, the food was terrible. After waiting for 30 minutes we asked when could expect our meal, we kept hearing about 10 more minutes In the end we waited 1,5 hours before being served our meals which werent hot, but rather cold to the touch. The french fries were hollow as if they were baked a second time. Try explaining that to a toddler which is hungry and is getting bored sitting at a table doing nothing for so long.So great park especially for small children but our experience as whole ended less pleasant because of the restaurant not serving proper meals in a timely manner.
This is the best zoo ever! So comfortable and adventure. So many kinds of what to do for kids. Just amazing!
Thats was a day full of fun
Nice adventure experience park with lots do to for all ages. Multiple regions (arctic, jungle, desert) and lots of different animals. no cages, no stressed behaviour so a perfect way to watch wildlife. parking expensive and can be a long walk when parking at the parking lot near the entence to Emmen
What a great zoo (or as dutch people say: Dierentuin!). We already loved the first zoo in Emmen which was located more in the city center. However, we always criticized that the zoo needs to be more outside to create reservoirs for the animals which are as natural as possible. And finally here we are! The animal reservoirs are very open which may cause that it take some time to see the animals but that is absolutely fine. On the other hand there are reservoirs in which the animals just can cross your way, we loved that! The service and staff is very friendly. The reason why i only can give 4 stars is because of the polar bear (no need for that in middle western Europe and the naked mole-rat for which the colony seemed to be half dead :(. For the rest the zoo is very structured and we definitely will come back!
Although the park has amazing scenery and the overall experience is great, the steep entrance price is hard to justify.Definitely worth a visit on a quiet day with discounted tickets, but on a busy day the attractions are not worth the wait.
I realy love this zoo its in a naturale scenery the pictures you can take are amazing because of the freedom the animals have. The food is nice love eating there there are a lot of things to do also for childeren. It was inspired by Animal Kingdom i have been there a few times in Florida.Ok its not even close or as big but i life close by Wildlands and i am happy to go there when i want yo visite a zoo close by.
Great combination of theme park and zoo. Plenty of animals, not many exclusive ones but the ones that are there, great to see. A few attractions that can be quite fun especially the tweestrijd is a great Rollercoaster.
Absolutely stunning place to visit, highly recommended, beautiful, themed areas, was a honner and a privilege to be there, fantastic friendly staff very cheerful you can absolutely see they love there job you can see it in there faces. Lovley looked after animals and a dueling roller-coaster where you can choose your own side, so many happy faces on there lots of laughter and happy faces.. Over all a beautiful zoo to visit we will absolutely be recommending it to people, dont judge a book by its cover as one inside the zoo the whole place comes alive.. Thankyou from me and my family for a beautiful day out 🦋❤️ oh and if you love butterflys this place is has a lot rooming free, lots of them free to land where they choose, and they do on your head ect, absolutely wonderful experience.. Our autistic children was engrossed in them, highly recommended for special needs children 🦋🦋🦋🦋
Wildlands is the best of the zoos that I have been to. The children have so much fun.
Great place. purchase the ticket online less money
When I had to pay 30 euros for the entrance I thought it was exaggerated... So I began the visit like I was fooled ... instead it wasnt so this zoo has only been opened since last year as the old zoo was closed ... And here you can see lot of tropical species ...and in their natural tropical habitat where you could go in to and feel the tropical humid weather conditions.... Some people go there because it treats as a sauna and medicine for their needs ... A must to see if you are around Emmen or Groningen. It is worth money and dont forget to visit butterflies and birds ...thats awesome ;)
Awesome animals and really cool mini roller-coaster.
Nice and big place good for children but some animals are hiding 😁
Was alot to see and had a good time. The food at the restaurant was good
Nice Zoo, its very different setup then it was before. They tried to create more natural setups by imitation of normal Living envoirement. Its an okay zoo for me.
Very good to reach with ample parking space at 5 minutes walk. Park consists of 3 main themed areas where a good balance has been struck between freedom for the animals and opportunities to see them. In several areas you can walk amongst the animals. Most animals have fairly spacious and natural and realistic habitats, with the exception of the baboons, that is quite small.
Beautiful zoo in emmen
Wonderful and unique zoo. Friendly staff. I adored the indoor Jungle most. I was at first a little surprised by the relatively slim number of (large) species, but I figured that that is the price a zoo pays to have animals that are happy and comfortable in their large and well-designed enclosures, and it really shows on them. And theres still plenty to see. Really worth a visit.
Great adventure for the whole family!
Fun zoo! Lots of different animals and big enclosures. Fun 4D movie and a great place for chikdren and adults!
Very nice park/ zoo. With a real-life Safari-experience, to see the animals is a maximum natural habitat. So sometimes you’re just not seeing the elephants, becauseThey are just 2.5 km away.
Great atmosphere, good selection of animals, nice attractions, good visuals. Id love to come here again.
New park tot replace old zoo EmmenClearly in build up state, but getting thereGreat new attractions with boatride, safari and 4d showBig spaces for the animalsTot much for one day!
Nice place to spend a day with the kids.
Brilliant city zoo
It is the nicest zoo I have been. Just really nice.
Wildlands Zoo is absolutely amazing, its like Europes answer to Busche Gardens, the quality of themeing and immersion is second to none. The park does suffer with first impressions, it looks like an office abd even if you know theres a zoo there, the entrance suggests that its not anything special, how wrong that is, most of us would kill for something just half as good in the UK, please get out there abd visit this place, its a GENUINE hidden Gem
Awesome and beautiful place. Great for kids, clean and good coffee
Had a great experience, our son loved the visited, worth while the 2 hour drive, not sure if we felt the same if we needed to pay the full Entree Fee but its a very well build zoo, great eye for detail and some attractions to give it a next level experience to an normal zoo
Great place to visit
It is great to see what they have done to the open space.
Nice place for a day out whit children
Nice new Zoo, but its fairly small though 3/4 hours and youve seen and done everything there is to do. Other than that I had a really nice day.
Super!
Spent five hours in this zoo, liked a lot! Since have a feeling that some things can be improved give four stars only. By the way, all guides are in Dutch only.
This park is great if the weather is too. The park is divided in different themes whats makes it really fun and feels like travel around the world. The zookeepers are friendly and you can ask them anything because they know there stuff.
Very enjoyable, not a typical zoo. It even has a (choose your side a double battle) roller coaster
It was to much decor an to little animals. Also it wasnt weelcher friendly. You cant see the animals verry wel.Bud the animals you can see are verry nice.
Best zoo ever. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Great zoo with lots of space for most animals. We loved the theme park vibe. Everything is designed and build with a lot of detail. We forgot we were in a city zoo 99% of time.
Smal but great
Nice place to take your kids.
Its a good zoo. At times it feels empty, lacking animals. The bird enclosure is wonderful and the Jim show is very entertaining. It has a lot of playgrounds for children
