I like Silcotts because you get old fashioned service and attention of being able to try on different sizes and styles before you buy. The people are great there and know what your feet need. I get my New Balance running shoes there. There are so many good shoes and work boots and it’s really comfortable in there

This place is pretty amazing. I have a large, wide foot, and a weird walk. For years Ive been ordering my shoes online, because I can never find my size. Never! Last week I went with my daughter, and happened to ask if they had my size. I assumed theyd have to order it. Not only did they have it, they had several different pairs for me to try! But the absolute best part was their knowledge, and commitment to getting me into the best pair of shoes. I havent seen a store give this kind of attention and service since I was a little girl. They only carry high quality shoes. The staff is super friendly. They took a lot of time with me, and I never felt rushed or pushed. The owner seems to be a perfectionist, and I was glad to be the recipient! He clearly has set a high standard for his store, the shoes he sells, and the employees he hires. My New Balance shoes are the perfect fit,and my daughter loves her new Hokas! So, thank you!Hey, while youre there, try out the socks! I bought two pair, and want to throw all my other socks away!

First of all the selection is excellent. The photos are just the part of the store. Most importantly is the service. I was assisted in finding shoes to perfectly fit my needs in both form and function. The staffs knowledge was so good that I ended up with TWO sets of shoes, equally good, but different for me to choose. To top it all off was the fit. I didnt realize how badly I had been fit for shoes in the past. I didnt know shoes could feel this good! I will be coming back for my winter boots, work boots, and many more walking shoes. I cannot recommend them enough! Work with them and you wont be disappointed. I live on the north side of Chicago and coming here will be worth every trip.

I went to Silcotts last week on the recommendation of several friends. I had posted on Facebook that I needed some inserts and didnt want to spend an arm and a leg. A few friends said this was the place to go and they were right! Savannah and Mona helped me find the inserts that worked for me. I found out more about proper fitting shoes than I ever knew before. I was looking at the shoes and Savannah measured my foot, which is something you just dont get at the big box stores. Keep in mind I have a HUGE foot so I figured she would come back and say she didnt have anything for me to try on. Well, she came out with 5 or 6 pairs! She was very patient with me and listened to what I was telling her I liked or didnt like about each pair. I found a pair I really loved but needed them in black. No problem! She ordered them for me. I am very excited to finally have a pair of shoes that dont hurt my feet! While I spent more than I usually spend on a pair of shoes, the quality and service is worth every penny. You MUST give this little gem a shot. You will not be disappointed!

This is the place I go for shoes that really fit me, customer service that never stops, and the kind of one-on-one attention that is lacking in many stores today. The selection of shoes is just right, and there is a sale wall that takes every bit of willpower not to just ask for fits of everything-- EVERYTHING.Some people may prefer to be independent shoe-seekers, but Im the kind of person who needs shoe-supervision. I dont know what my feet need, and I walked around with shoes sizes too large for me because that is what I could fit my feet into without adjusting anything. I went to Silcotts, and I discovered that the shoes that fit me werent the ones I could initially stick my foot into. Wait for it-- the sole was my problem. Change the sole and POOF-- heavenly shoes that fit.It was magic. Pretty sure they are like Ollivanders for shoes.The best part is that Im never unacknowledged even during busy hours.Ive worked retail. You have to greet everyone you see-- but how many places actually do it? Ive walked out of places if Im not greeted by someone in 5 minutes just because I feel its important. Going here, theyll look up and wave or say something even when busy. This place is truly full service, and in a chain store dominated world, this place is golden in its people, the quality of the shoes, and the fact its a local business.I couldnt ask for better.

Brent the owner has remembered my name from Day 1. The selection of shoes is fantastic and Brent is willing to order any shoe you need whenever he is able.

We took my sister who has edema and very wide feet to Silcotts for the first time. Brent spent an hour with her, getting the correct shoes she needed, the best fit, and also talked to us about better socks that he has for the swelling. Overall, wonderful experience and my wife was so amazed, she is going to buy her shoes from him from now on!

Was in here a few months ago, bald guy, who I’m guessing is the owner was kinda rude/condescending. Argued with me over wanting a boot a size bigger (I work 10-12 hour shifts and a looser boot is much more comfortable). Then proceeded to tell my girlfriend in an extremely snarky tone that the shoes she was looking at aren’t covered by my companies store discount... which is common sense. No need to have an attitude about it. So after getting my work boots, we ordered her hunter boots online instead. Don’t think I’ll ever be back

I am not a person with loads of shoes in my closet. I say that because when I buy a pair of shoes, I want to make sure that I will wear them and they will be comfortable out of the gates.I do not buy shoes anywhere other than Silcott’s. Period. The owner is an expert and takes time to make sure that the pair you are looking at is something that will be comfortable. I am at that age...lol.

Waste of time. We walked in and found what we were looking for. The employee that eventually came to help us measured my boyfriends feet a size small. Even though he insisted he was a 12 she brought him boots in an 11.5. He tried them on and they were small... who would have guessed. In the mean time she had walked away for several minutes and some guy walked up (acting really strangely) and took one of the other boots we were looking at. He got side tracked by another customer who was looking at another shoe. He kept insisting to measure her feet and she kept insisting she had been in the store several times before and didnt need to be measured. He rudely told her that there was no way he would sell her the shoes she wanted without measuring her feet. In the mean time we had been sitting there for 10 mins or so with a pair of shoes that didnt fit and no assistance. After another couple of minutes of sitting there waiting for someone to come back and help us we left. We will take our business elsewhere. At least the lady that was helping a customer on our way our said have a good day on our way out the door.
