Go have a cup! I am so happy this place is downtown. I am actually glad that currently, during the Covid crisis, that service is only outdoors. They have some cool outdoor furniture. An Italian friend told me, that this place has the best cappuccino in town. I agree. It is very creamy and tasty. My wife loves the jasmine green tea. I had a cinnamon roll that was excellent. It was not so big that it would choke a horse, but it was just right. They have some great procedures to keep you safe. Each table is sanitized after use. And of course, since you are outside, it is relatively safe. We will be back.

Would recommend. Very nice vibe with good space to socialize or enjoy a solo drink at the bar. I got a delicious Almond Milk Flat White made with Onyx Monarch espresso base.

Everything here is of a really high quality. The cookies and pastries are some of the best Ive ever eaten. I love the pop tarts. The avocado toast is to die for. I love the teas. I think they have a professional chef behind the scenes. They are good enough to be in some hip or major city like San Francisco, New York or California.

Really enjoy Monarch. They are in walking distance of our offices and we frequent them too much! Coffee is of great quality. Baked goods are also top notch. You should try their seasonal offerings as theyre usually quality and creative! But, if youre not in the mood to be adventurous, their Americanos are superb (hot or iced).

We were looking for a trendy coffee bar that offered food and could not be happier with Monarch! Extremely friendly staff, excellent food (we tried the almond butter toast), and a nice espresso! There are tons of tables to sit at while you enjoy your coffee. I do wish there were some additional outlets for laptop charging, but other than that, it was a really nice experience. We will be back again!

Monarch is such a great coffee shop. The staff is super cool and have done a great job creating an environment that makes you want to come back. They also have some amazing coffee beans from Onyx Coffee Roasters in Bentonville, Arkansas. I just wish they were open on Sundays!

We absolutely loved this place. I dont know how, but they managed to make a big space feel cozy without it feeling cramped. The coffee was delicious and the latte art was so cute! We also tried the avocado toast and it was so, so delicious! We will definitely be coming back!

Stopped by on the way from Chattanooga to DFW. Due to COVID-19 they had the store closed but you could order through the window. I ordered an iced The Parker with oatmilk and it was perfect. Smooth and not too sweet. Would recommend the extra seven minutes it takes from the exit to the actual coffee shop.

They use Onyx coffee for all of their pour-overs and espresso which, if you know coffee, is a standard for quality in the coffee community. The employees at monarch were also very friendly, personable, easy to talk to but also not invasive. I only wish they had more seating because it’s been pretty packed every time I’ve been there.Side note: Onyx Coffee delivers their beans directly to Monarch so, if you want a freshly roasted bag of Onyx w/o paying for shipping - this is a good place to pick one up.

This is my favorite coffee shop in town. The coffee is incredible. They always have non dairy milks which I love and the avocado toast is to die for. The atmosphere is super cozy and I love the community tables as well as sitting at the bar. The staff are amazing, genuine, and fun!

My favorite coffee shop!! There is always a friend insight and it has a very home like feel. Bring a friend and stop in for your favorite coffee drink and a treat from the box. My recommendations are an iced cuban latte with a fresh cinnamon roll. Monarch is my favorite coffee shop and Im sad that I dont live in Ttown anymore because I cant go to Monarch for my after work pick me up or to catch up with friends.

They do not have decaf coffee except for pour overs. :(

That coffee shop is really a hidden gem! They offer great, real Italian style espresso in an awesome place. The inside looks so cool with the brick walls and seating is really comfortable. We hadn’t expected such a cool place in Tuscaloosa. Will definitely come again!Just one thing: some more sofas/armchairs would be cool. But anyway: best coffee place in the south!

This was loveliest coffee shop! There was a lot of seating with nice long wood tables for work space while enjoying their delicious coffee and fresh made pastries or cookies. I wish I could have taken a picture of all the table space and seating, because it is just as gorgeous as it is functional. I didnt want to impose on the privacy of the many people at the tables. Yes, they have healthy options such as almond milk and splenda. I love that their to go containers for their decadent treats are little boxes, not invasive styrofoam! The music playing overhead completes the perfect ambiance for this gem of a coffee shop. I went there by accident my first time in Tuscaloosa, but I will be returning on purpose.

The menu has a variety of tasty healthy meals. It was a pleasure to locate a place in Mobile with healthy vegan and vegetarian options. The waitress is very helpful, polite and friendly. This will become a regular stop for me in Mobile.This little restaurant in back of a health food store is actually a sit-down place, not a carryout window as I had guessed. They offer a menu of vegetarian-friendly (et al.) eclectic health food.

Great people, interesting and unique coffee products, and even snacks and cocktails. The atmosphere is usually pretty chill but it can get noisy sometimes. The aesthetic is very nice, kind of a bare-bones warehouse-meets-hipster vibe. As a friend of mine described it, its authentic Portland in Tuscaloosa. Definitely worth a visit, and a great place to hang out or meet up as well.

I come here at least 4 times a week. The staff is great, and the atmosphere is perfect to visit with friends or hunker down on some work.The coffee and baked goods are second to none. Im always happy with a latte or their drip. I had the blueberry lemon scone the other day. Life changing.

TO GO ORDER: I ordered a Sea salt bagel w/avocado and butter = $6.38 (including $0.38 for liquor, I dont know what that was for). They were all out of Sea Salt bagels and I was offered Everything bagel. I opted for the Avocado toast (no egg). It was tastey. Ill have to try them as a dine-in to give a fair assessment.

This is one of the most consistently good coffees I’ve had in the world. The cold brew and pour over are both full of flavour, service is always friendly and fast, I only wish this place was open when I was in college. For now, I’ll just always have to stop by when I come through Tuscaloosa.

One of the oddest places Ive been to in Tuscaloosa. Nothing wrong, just isnt my scene. I was not expecting the cherry flavor in my coffee. It was on the menu, I just didnt read it before ordering, so thats on me. The atmosphere is very... Portland. I was on a business meeting and there was no place to hang our coats as the backs of the chairs were oddly shaped. Again. Nothing wrong, just wasnt the right place for our attire. Or vice versa. I didnt finish my coffee so I ordered a mocha and it was heavenly. It saved the trip.

Best coffee in Tuscaloosa. Monarch is a craft coffee shop, which focus producing a quality cup of coffee and a traditional European style espresso drinks. Most of the baked goods and treats are made from scratch. If youve been to a third-wave style coffee shop like Revelator/Octane in Birmingham/Atlanta, Monarch is in the same tradition.

Spacious and usually very quiet. Great place for working over coffee. Quality of coffee is good too unlike most places in Tuscaloosa.

Finally, a much needed third-wave/specialty coffee shop in Tuscaloosa!I ordered a pour-over, which came out to $4.09 after tax. Monarch looks to exclusively brew coffee from Lyons Coffee Roasters located in Florence, AL. They brewed me what I believe was the Ethiopian Hambela, which is a natural processed coffee that is grown at higher altitudes, which should be somewhat fruit-forward.Monarchs brewing process is right on the money. They brew in a chemex, and take care to use Fellow Stagg kettles for their water. My coffee was fruit forward, leaning more towards blueberry and currant. Overall, I think the only thing that could be improved is the roast itself. For what I would expect, the coffee couldve been more tart and juicy. Ill be back here often!

Changed to here from my previous coffee spot for my walks around Tuscaloosa and the staff instantly made me feel welcome. Coffee was also very good and not over priced.
