I have not been to this store since my student teaching days, but a great spot for projects, educational toys and more.I needed some brown paint for a project. I was painting a tree for a Trunk or Treat event at my church, and Lakeshore had the size of paint I needed and was just the right cost.I was able to find what I needed, even though I havent been here in a long time. What made this shopping experience so great, was the nice man that assisted me with my purchase. He was so helpful and kind. I mean he made me smile. That I was overjoyed that he helped me again when I returned the 2nd bottle of paint that I didnt use.He surely must of heard of the saying, Be the reason someone smile!I hope Lakeshore will keep this sweet guy around and wish other places had people like him. I give him 10 stars for the best customer service.
I came here during the day and the store was fairly empty since this is a teacher store, all the teachers are working. The store was moderately stock however they use to sell classroom furniture and in the past I got an amazing deal on their chairs which online sells for $39 but I paid around $10 or $12 each however since the pandemic they havent had any furniture. The clerks were very friendly.
Always fun, always friendly.
Lots and lots of great things, especially for elementary school kids. Very friendly and helpful staff. Very clean and well organized.
I am really sorry to read some of these one star reviews. I have to say over the years I visit this store I have always had nothing but fantastic customerservice and all the employees have been eager to help. I was just there today for 2.5 hours and we could shopped longer. Even the other teachers that shop at Lakeshore were very friendly. I think Lakeshore just has a great reputation of selling quality materials we are just so excited that we live so close and are able to visit frequently.
I am a first year teacher and I decided to visit this educational store with excitement, because I’ve always heard so many great things. However, during my experience at Lakeshore, I was very disappointed. I’m a young African American woman and when my sister and I entered the store neither one of us was greeted nor asked if we needed assistance with anything. The employee walked past me on at least three different occasions and nothing. There were only maybe 4 customers in the store at that time. So there was no excuse for that kind of customer service. Even with that, I was still persistent on buying a couple of thesauruses for my classroom. As I was still browsing, I can hear the conversation of another customer that was at the register, who happened to be an older Caucasian woman. The conversation, of course, was very pleasant and amicable. So when it was my turn to be checked out, all of sudden the cashier became very cold and stoic. No conversation took place at all. I will never spend my good, hard-earned money at this particular Lakeshore Educational store, and I would not recommend this store to anyone. This is very disappointing that I have to write a review like this in 2018... This purchase ended with a return of the items and reimbursement.
I came in to buy coloring books for my niece and nephew. It was the middle of the afternoon, and there was only one other customer there. I walked in, but was not greeted by either one of the two young ladies working there. I walked around the store for about ten minutes, and still hadnt been greeted. At that point, a customer came in, who was promptly greeted and asked if she needed help finding anything....I should mention that Im a young, African-American woman, and the customer who came after me was White. The two sales associates were also White. I hung around for about a minute after that, just to see if either sales associate would recognize the fact that I had not been greeted and fix it, but neither did. On my way out the door, one of them said, Have a good one. I did not respond.Do I think this is a case of discrimination? No, absolutely not. Do I think this is a case of poor customer service? Yes. Yes, I do. This store, from my experience, usually has excellent customer service. But, to be honest, I was disappointed. Im now on my way to another merchant. Please, let this be a lesson to anyone who works in retail. They tell you to greet EVERY customer for a reason... will not be coming back soon.
I visited this store with my sister who is an elementary school teacher. We walked in the store and were not greeted. We looked around the store and we came across two sale associates and still had not received a greeting. At one particular moment, we were browsing and a customer needed help finding an item. That particular item was directly in front of us. The sales associate got in front of us, without saying exsue me, and showed her the product. Even then, we did not receive as Hi, how are you? Welcome to our store. Can I help you with anything? My sister and I are young African American women who do not look like the age we are. However, that is not grounds for being respectful to your customers who are interested in buying from your store. I work in retail and I know you are trained to greet EVERY customer. No matter how late or how early it is in the shift. My sister and I continue shopping and as were nearing the end of our trip we hear the same associate check out a customer, who happen to be an older white woman. The conversation between the two was very light and warm. It almost seemed liked they knew each other. However, when we checked out the associate was the exact opposite. She was very short, cold, and stoic. It was rude and unprofessional. My sister bought her items, but returned in minutes to return them. The associate didnt even bother to apologize for how she treated my sister. My sister will NOT be returning and I urge my other peers who are educators to not shop at this location. Horrible, horrible, experience.
Awesome collection of kids activities items. Great bargain and sale items to choose from.good collection of teaching and learning materials for teacher and schools.
Amazing place, friendly staff, wide variety of inventory! I had a blast for their summer Back-to-School meet & greet with Michelle Ferré. During this particular visit, I want to thank Bill and Sierra for their help while I was shopping and trying to operate the laminator!!
The must shop place for toys worth buying to help your children learn. The employees are knowledgeable and helpful. Teachers will love their materials as well.
A little pricey as Im concerned but they always had a variety of things for students as well as the teachers. Great place for ideas as well
Weve ordered from their catalog numerous times, but their store is an experience. The staff was nothing but helpful and patient, and the kids were free to run around and play with the tons of samples they had out while the adults shopped. A fantastic shopping experience for the whole family.
Friendly staff! Its like the Chick-Fila-a for teachers! Super polite and always willing to accommodate you! I rather shop at no other teacher store! Just wish the prices were a little cheaper.
Great store for parents, teachers and therapist. Has lots of educational and therapeutic toys and poster for children.
Lots & lots of great, well-made educational toys and other learning activities. Staff was friendly and knowledge.
After reading the negative reviews from other African-American females I had decided not to go here. However I happen to be passing by today so I decided to stop in. I was not immediately greeted and they were not busy at all, but after about 5-10 minutes of browsing the cashier did ask if I needed any help, as well as somebody who I think was the manager. They checked in a few times to ask if I needed any assistance and I also saw them assisting another African-American woman. So maybe their customer service has gotten better. They were friendly and even helped me to my car with a large item. The sales are definitely valuable, and otherwise the prices are what you would expect from Lake shore. If you are looking for something specific that you have not found in the dollar store or target or Walmart or the Goodwill or Amazon they probably have it. Right now there is a sale on furniture that’s marked down 75% so if you need something for your homeschool or classroom the next couple of days it would probably be worth going.
Wonderful ideas for young minds. Great deals and the employees are very helpful and friendly.
Lakeshore has a wide variety of borders and classroom decorations that work across all grades. Unfortunately, when it comes to actual teaching resources and materials, us secondary teachers are out of luck as it primarily caters to elementary.
Great little store that you can find all kinds of good learning toys.
Great, great selections. Big sale now. Friendly service.
The store carries great materials for learning. It is spacious, clean, and well organized.
Great resource for teachers, but the only one of its kind so can be pricy and can have lines out the door.
