Fantastic experience. The instructors were knowledgeable and engaging. For the basic pistol class, the instructors had us (the class) interact with a variety of pistol types, gave us live fire range time, and taught us how to safely use a firearm, clean it, and about local firearm laws. The instructors gave very good advice which helped me aim better, such as practicing trigger pulls to avoid pulling the gun one direction.
Man at the front desk turned me away for the way I smelled because he thought I smoked weed before coming in. Staff can’t tell the difference between cigar smoke and weed smoke. As far as I’m concerned I think it’s perfectly legal to come in after smoking however many cigars I would like. Pretty sure I was just judged as soon as I walked in for the way I look.
Great prices and the range is very “relaxed”. You can double tap and brig your own ammo even for shotguns (they will have to inspect it). The place is a bit run down but that’s just the entrance. The range is a range and great to shoot at. Lots of space behind the shooter. I would definitely go again.
Ive shot here dozens of times. Not sure why people are leaving bad reviews....no offense, but its a gun range not a dating site. You pay your money and they give you a lane to shoot. If you are interested in an inexpensive place to practice, this is the only option in south bay. If you are looking for a place to make friends go to match.com.
This is from my friend about his experience at Sharpshooter:On March 30 8:30 am, after paying 280 dollars, I was ready for my first class which starts at 10:30. The main instructor looked at me and instantly doing racial profiling and marking me to be cut from the program. Looking for any excuse on how I hold my weapon and my body posture, he said I may have to be cut you from the class. He must be forgetting this is a class for learning not racial profiling. He tried to talk me to buy the concealed weapons certificate for Arizona, Florida and Utah, which costs 65 to 70 dollars each. I first refused but paid 30 dollars for the fingerprints only anyway to avoid troubles. On 3/31 Sunday, I went to my second class located at 33954 San Francisquito Canyon Road, Saugus Santa Clarita, CA 91350. There, he continued profiling me on the way of my body posture, the way I hold my gun. I did make 7 bulls eyes. He made 4 other instructors stand at my back and sides to criticize me all the way to lunch time, although I was doing the same as everyone else. Then he pull me aside and said I am not giving you your certificate because you are too much of danger. I can send you to a beginners class but you will not get the concealed weapons certificate for California. So I said I am taking my weapon and going home.
Loved it here... on our anniversary my husband and me went there and they educated me on how to load and handle a gun... great first time experience...
If you a first time owner of a gun. Call them. They will be glad to set you up and help. They have been in Torrance for a long time. If you need to sharpen your skills or send bag to rifle. Lets getter done. Not expensive
Cant get enough of this place a great place to unwind. Come to practice or to unload its all good
Nice, no hassle place. Very shooter friendly.I will definitely go again. The price is reasonable for fee and target. Looks like a family owned and run facility 😁Just follow the safety rules and mind your own business. 😁
SoCal Sharpshooter is a professional, safe and family friendly place. Their customer service, advice, patience and knowledge is great. This is a very good range. They have classes, targets, ammo, cleaning equip, etc.
I have been hearing mixed results, a couple of people that I know said awesome things about this place, but will find out for myself.
Been going here since I was kid great safe indoor range
Took my FSC test here and came out with my certification. And more information on there services and programs. Definitely will be coming back.
Excellent facility. People are kind and caring, and provide top notch service.
Great place to shoot! Staff for the most part is very nice. Ammo always available. Just need better ventilation. Gets a little smokey when crowded.
We love that the place is open.
High Competence; High Cordial. Rare combination. 5 Stars.
With the exception of parking, its a good facility. The staff is knowledgeable and helpful. The pricing is reasonable as well.
Its convenient and close by. Just wish they were open Mondays still as thats my off day. Not all the lanes target holders work but they werent full so it was easy to find another lane
For everyone who dogs this place and its staff, I just dont see it. Yes the place could use a good cleaning and some upgrades but who gives a carp. Its not like you live there. Plus, judging from the looks of some of the homes in the surrounding cities, Im sure your houses arent much nicer. Youre there to shoot, not eat dinner. As far as the staff goes there is one older guy with long Gray hair thats a little moody but thats it. Im fairly new to the gun world as an owner of a firearm but in the short time that Ive been to ranges here in L.A. and a few other states Ive met a lot of jerks that make these guys look like customer service gods. I purchased a handgun from them, it was a little pricey but since I live close by ill chalk it up to paying for convenience. They were very helpful, nice and didnt treat me like a pariah as other stores did because i may not have been fully versed in handguns. Also, the few minor issues that I experienced with my handgun were immediately attended to by their staff. So get off your high horse and stop acting like some snobby b@$_h from a beach city. These guys dont kiss your a$$. If that is what you want go shoot in Beverly Hills. Do not judge a book by its cover!
Compared to other shooting ranges this one is better. Its not too expensive, just make sure you take your own ammo theirs is expensive. The staff is not the friendliest, the parking lot is small, but overall its a good place.
Keep it simple. First time visit, it was great. Good clear instructions from an older gent. Nice, and we really dont want to pay more for painting on the walls etc. = Value for money.
Good place fun gun shooting and training good prices and has vending machine
Great range love going very helpful and reasonable staff
I have a good time at sharpshooter, Im a frequent customer and had plenty of different people with me when I go and they had a blast as well. Just updated the machines and the place would be perfect. Love it here and I do have other choices but I feel more at home with sharpshooter
Service is always great here. Fair prices, good people. Cant go wrong to shoot here. Gets a bit busy sometimes but not that bad.
Real peaceful vibe to it if that makes any sense..
Very convenient out of the way place. Staff is knowledgeable and helpful. If you’re looking for fluff this is not your range.
Checked the website (it said it was OPEN) so I could take my son shooting and get our practice in. Website says open but when you get there, there is a sign with new hours and restricted entry with appointment only access. Shooting Range is closed. So, thanks a lot for the wasted afternoon of prepping my gear and driving over to Torrance.....
I’ve been a Sharpshooter customer for almost 25 years. I’ve purchased firearms and have been given excellent advice by the owners. I’ve always found it a pleasant place to focus and get the trigger time in.
Great price $24 shared lane for me and the wife. Brought my own ammo, eye, and hearing protection. Didnt have to rent a thing.Staff was all about business. No BS, straight to business. Some people may not like this but I didnt mind. Super convenient and economical.
Horrible customer service. Rentals are scary dirty. It was very obvious that they dont care about the guns they rent. They were more concerned about the video they were watching then anything else. The prices were cheap for the lane, but the ammo cost was ridiculous. And the rental cost was ridiculous. I will never return again. Spent more than $80 for lane and a box of ammo. And the lane was only $16 plus the $8 for my brother. Also no control in the lanes, there were a bunch of idiots shooting and none of the workers were on the lanes to correct the idiots, not that the idiots that worked there would know the differences.
I love this place. Roy was super nice with explanations about guns, and teach me gun disassembly. The range is cozy and nice. Good local place to shoot your gun
If you are squared away these guys are cool.If your looking for hand holding this is not really the place.I shoot here frequently and love the fact that I can rapid fire and double tap (not allowed at many ranges).I have met lots of good folks here as well.
If youre squared away, they are too. Makes sense to me. Ive seen them be very tolerant and patient, so long as you mind the rules of safety. They expect you to be an adult and responsible gun owner. Not too much to criticize really.Ive known Fred since his hair was black and neither of us wore reading glasses. His sense of humor can be weird, but hes solid. If the SHTF I wouldnt mind having him at my back.Ive been going to So. Cal. Sharpshooter since they opened and Im going there again tonight with my girlfriend.
Ive taken multiple classes here. The staff is always courtesy and patient. As a new gun owner I really appreciate their knowledge. Thanks again
Great place and great staff 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
For Torrance you are lucky to have any indoor shooting range at all. However the facilities are old and run down as their is no competition as you have in other states where ranges are ultra modern, well lit, have huge range of rental guns. It is what it is.
My wife and I went to the range for a date night and we had a blast! Yumi was helpful, showing my wife how to load the weapon and finding the right gun for her. We had fun!
If you want to shoot, sight in a firearm, or teach someone the basics, this is a great range. The length of the range and how wide it is helps with the echoing effect when shooting especially when others are there. I wish they would update their target hangers with something less jerry-rigged, but they work. The staff can come off as a bit rude, though understand youre dealing with machinery that kills living beings. You dont joke around guns, especially when theres liability at hand.
Its OK. The older gray haired guy is a dick. The younger one is not bad. Im sure they get a lot of yahoos in there. Ive seen a few over the years. Its not too bad if you just want to send a few down range and arent looking for 4-star service and opulence. They usually have a good supply of reloads available in all popular calibers for decent prices. Mostly dirty old Glocks and 1911s to rent. I buy a prepaid card, 5 visits for $60, otherwise its $16 per.
I WANT to like this place. Ive been shooting since they opened, through at least three ownership changes. I have to say the attitudes of the staff are somewhat better now. But I dont think theyve spent a nickle on range maintenance in the last twenty years. The place is dark and dingy, making it hard to see targets. And the target holders were dilapidated two decades ago. Theyre a joke now. The original target clips are long gone, having replaced by an odd assortment of binder clips and rubber bands.I would gladly pay a bit more per visit to cover the cost of a coat of pain, a few light bulbs and real target holders. Common guys... get it together. Make me want to continue being a customer.
Went there to shoot and get some help cleaning. Roy is the greatest. Not only foes he kbow his stuff but he is helpful and reasonable!
Nice cozy facility to practice your shooting skills
My first time here was a great experience, safety first, buy or rent your gun and amo and release some frustration during target practice.
Very unprofessional staff. Very out dated facility. Dont wast your time nor your money here.
Came here on Friday had a good time nobody gave me a BS attitude. They took care of me in the front desk had no problems getting in I will highly recommend this place to a friend.
A bunch of EX Cop know nothings. Rude if your not a cop. Although they couldnt answer my question due to ignorance rather than simple bad attitude. Gotta just love it when Mr. Snot nose backs a wrong answer with that attitude. The guy would use the same attitude to argue they sky is not blue if he didnt know the difference.
Easy process, about $20 per lane. Never had a poor experience. Not a huge selection of guns to rent, so better have your own. Pretty decent re-loads in most calibers sold as well. AAAAA++++ in my book.
I am VERY happy that Sharpshooter is open and providing me a safe environment to shoot. There are issues with equipment but none that disallow my ability to shoot. Those who continually complain clearly do not remember 40 years ago when there were almost as many gun stores and shooting ranges as Phoenix here in Southern California. Now there are damn near none.Be thankful for what you have in this liberal anti-gun state when so many rights are be taken away daily.
Fine courteous enough. They didnt serve me a cappuccino. I sign in, pay, pick a lane, observe proper safety firearms handling and go relieve some stress.
Good spot to shoot. Be sure to check their website before you visit. Lanes are almost as cheap as they get. Friendly staff.
I recently purchased a firearm from this store for $2400. Today was my pick up date, and the employee at the store tells me tough luck Im not certified to use the DOJ website, you wont be able to pick it up today. So I politely ask if Ryan, (the store owner who sold me the firearm, which I paid for in full already - my mistake) is there to speak to, and all he says in response is no, you cant pick it up today. Ive experienced poor customer service from the guys that work there, but this is outrageous. When a customer purchases something, and is legally entitled to come pick it up, you are obligated to give the product theyve paid for, given it is during normal hours of operation. I would never use this business again to purchase a rifle, or anything else for that matter.
First time shooter the guy there was friendly and very informative. I had a great time.
So I have shot my AR 15 here a couple of times. The last time I came with my friend they said that I need to take a class to get a permit to shoot rifles at their range. Which means its only a requirement for their range. So in other words I gotta pay for some made up class just to be able to shoot riffles. Ammo is pretty expensive to buy here. Other than their weird rules its a pretty nice range. Would not go back.
Have been to this place couple of time and its an OK place. But the last time I try going. I call before to ask some questions. they just have the worst customer service. Really rude and sarcasm over the phone about some questions I had. Will be taking my business to LAX shooting range better . They have better price and staff.
My husband was threatened by an older man behind the desk, we assumed he was the owner, my husband asked a simple question of how to get in (it was our first time there we didnt know how to get in) he then threatened to shoot my husband in the head if he tried to open the door. Honestly the man is lucky my husband isnt crazy...one who talks to someone like that? And TWO who knew (if my husnand was crazy) he wouldnt have gone loaded up and went out and shot this guy?? Well... called Torrance PD and now calling better business bureau. Let see how he likes that.
This is a straight forward old school range. The rules are simple, allows shooting your own reloads, the staff keeps out of your way. For the few that complain about attitude they perceive here: this is not Baby Gap or the Ivy. The staff is not there to cater to your whims. Think of the endless train of clueless numpties they see that know nothing about safely shooting a weapon and everything about broadcasting their own opinions/specialness. Just go into this range prepared, pay your fee, and shoot your ammo. Like Gekko said years ago, if you need a friend get a dog.
Guy from joker stream was cool af KEKW
Ive been there about a dozen times and have no complaints. Its always fun. I recently used them as a FFL for a handgun transfer and it was easy and pleasant.
Close to home, and the staff are nice.
Its one of the few remaining indoor shooting ranges left. Its an old range, popular with locals. No other choice lol. My last visit was ok. Just needed to sell my 1911 to guy from the Post office (JK). I did do a gun transfer and the transaction was a little slow but the gal that helped us was nice and friendly. Parking sucks. The lot is small and street parking on weekends fill up fast. Not full size truck friendly. And lock your doors, be look over your shoulders. Bad good would love to take your unloaded locked gun from you as you walk back to your car on the street. Hope this helps.
Relaxed local shooting spot. Five stars if it was air conditioned.
They let you use your own ammo.16 entrance fee 8 for second person1 dollar targets, eyes, and ears.Staff is rude and come off with the I know everything kinda vibeBut just pay them and blow off some stress and have fun!!!!!Safe shooting and fight for your 2nd amendment right.
Take the basic firearms class there. Great if you are a novice.
Decent facilities. The management/owners are a little curt, but nothing major. Ammo and targets available for purchase.
A year ago, my experience was 5 star. My last few visits have been disappointing. Wouldnt recommend it for your first time shooting a firearm.
Those guys who work at this place are rude and dump. I checked the web and came for what I saw in their site. The guy at the front counter not even know how to say hi to customer. I asked for the product I want to purchase, he said: I do not have it. I then told him that it listed on their own Web site. He nodded and repeat again I do not have it, did you hear me. By this time, I know that I should get the hell out of there before these serviceless people put the bullet on my head. Hope you learn something from my experience before you come here.
Nice staff, decently clean environment. Pretty much the convenient place to go shooting in Torrance area.
Not crowded. They leave you alone. Some of the owners are not very friendly, but I do not care about making friends.
What a bunch of arrogant jackasses. The heavyset gentleman behind the desk could care less about the people that go there to shoot. If you live close to Sharp Shooters I would recommend saving up money for gas and going out of town because this place is not worth it.
Ive been going to Sharpshooter for over twenty years. Ive also sold firearms there on consignment and received firearms using their FFL for a reasonable fee. There are generally two staff who must often deal with many customers going in and out of the range. Sometimes one of the staff can seem pretty grumpy but hes down to business and doesnt gladly suffer firearms knuckleheads and know-it-alls. If youre squared away and follow the rules, its all good. Sharpshooter is not the best range in the world but Sharpshooter is convenient, has reasonable range fees and memberships, offers training, and you can use your own ammo.
The staff was helpful and the price for future use is reasonable.
My first time going to a shooting range. Asked to rent a gun. He asked for my id and took my money. No instructions on use of the gun or safety. WOW. Dont want to be there when an accident happens.
I like it a lot!! I had fun shooting my CZ P-01!! Highly recommend it!!
Great friendly range. I will go again.
Very nice staff
Been here twice and will continue to do so, I have no complaints. I just go in ask for ammo and start shooting.
This place lacks a real detailed listing of range rules and policies. I went today to fire off my new Ar15 300 blk out and was then asked if i had a rifle pass. I looked at the staff cross eyed because i was told after calling that i could fire the rifle and no mention of a rifle pass was made. Aparently you have to attend a safety course for handling a rifle before they grant you a rifle pass. Laaaame. If you look at there website, no clear set of rules is displayed. Thats why i gave them one star. For wasting my time and gas. Definitely out of date range. Needs to streamline there operation.
Best place to go for target practice.
I am not sure why there are any bad reviews of this place. The guys who run the place are cool enough. They are probably a little stressed seeing as how there are often some low lifes in there that look like gang banger types. But most of the patrons are squared away, God fearing patriots who wish our govt was more interested in securing our border from terrorists, than stripping us of our right to defend against terrorists. It is not a bar, or lingerie shop, it is a place where grown ups go to celebrate their heritage by putting some rounds down range. I think their DROS fee is too high, but I like shooting there and it save me the gas of driving to Turners. Why else would you go to Turners, when you could drive a bit further and hit Ammo Bros? Anyways, I am glad they are close to the South Bay, which is where I live. Semper Fi.
Took the time to answer a few questions about CA law. Very helpful.
Staff was great! Not much selection of guns though.
Easy. The paper work was all of a signature and an address. Got a shared lane for 3 people and fot a free target for each person.
A nice place to develop your skill
Worst customer service. Lack of communication skills 👎
Clerks are rude and unwilling to answer simple questions without attitude. not enough parking and the facility is run down.
This place is old and maybe it is just run as someones hobby. No real business person would employ a man who goes out of his way to find insulting things to say.
Great place very convenient
It will be closed every Monday from now until further notice.
Very strange and unfriendly staff
Its nothing frilly, but hey its an F-n gun range, what do you expect?? Always a spot open!
Would help if you were open when you say you are. Waste of time
Good pricing lots of fun
