Awful awful experience. First 2 times I went, service was decent.Last time I went, was the last time. Don’t trust that they do a “multipoint inspection for free” any time you get your car serviced.I went to get my oil changed and they said they did their “inspection” as well and that everything looked good.A month later, my tire pressure light came on and they said that one of tires had a broken belt and that I needed to replace it as well as most likely all 4 of my tires.They said my tire pressure was way too high and that is what caused it. Well since I had gotten my car, I had only gone to *them* for an oil change - which they checked my tires during their inspection AND I CLARIFIED THAT THEY DO INDEED CHECK TIRES. Then the second time I got my car serviced, they again stated on the receipt that they performed an inspection. This “inspection” was supposedly done just a few weeks before my “belt broke”.So the two times that I had gone, no one told me my tire pressure was not right. I’m assuming they just didn’t perform the inspection they claim they do every time.I was so upset the entire time. I asked the service guy to send me a picture of what was wrong. He said “yeah yeah I’ll email you the picture.” Never did. Called him on the phone to remind him “oh yeah I’ll get that over to you.” Never heard from him. Such awful awful service and I’ve told all of my friends who own VW’s to steer clear of themI started driving an hour away to a mechanic who is a family friend and very trusted and he explained and showed me what was wrong and told me straight up that I got scammed by the dealership. If they were truly doing inspections they would’ve corrected the tire pressure immediately and my tire would’ve never had a broken belt.Never going back there.
We had such an awesome experience here. Josh and Dana were extremely helpful! My husband and I were extremely comfortable, didn’t feel pressured and left satisfied. They also helped with our follow up questions a couple of days later after purchasing our car. I will continue doing business here as well as recommending these guys!
Service dept is horrible. 1st oil change they were 3hrs late on a scheduled oil change. Car wash ripped my license plate and bracket off. They said it happens all the time and proceeded not fix it right so I had to when I finally got home. 2nd oil change my car leaked oil as soon as I got it home. Looked and found the drain plug hand tight. Called and complained with no response. 3rd oil change today I got laughed at in my face after they told me to bring me car up there for a walk in oil change. They told me once I showed up at the service dept they did not say that but had all my information to schedule one for Monday. Which I did not do. Please watch what they say and do because they clearly do not care about there customers or work!
Have nothing but great things to say about this dealership. I purchased a new car from them in March. Landon and Dana were amazing through the whole process. Dana also helped me tremendously shortly after the sale as well. He worked quickly and made sure everything was correct. Highly recommend doing business with them.
Not very knowledgeable place. Took my car there for a check up and oil change. They recommended I replace my DPF filter on my exhaust. Not sure what they were checking but the service manual says to check it and replace if necessary after 120,000 miles and my vehicle was at 50,000. Had it taken to a different dealership and they said it was good. Dont know if they just dont service the car they also sell or if they were trying to get me to pay extra money for something I didnt need. Glad I took it somewhere else and saved a lot of money.

My husband and I bought our first car from Garlyn Shelton VW Temple, and we truly could not have asked for a better experience. We are moving from Chicago to Austin, and had to do the car buying process from Chicago the entire time at the start of the holiday season (Dec 2020). Dana and Alec were incredibly kind, transparent and patient throughout the entire process - sending photos, walking through financial documents page by page over the phone, and working with my parents who were able to go physically see the car as well on our behalf. They were easy to communicate with, provided a high-quality of service, and made us feel supported throughout every step of the process! Be very careful if you decide to purchase a vehicle from them. Salesman was trying to scam me; I wanted to finance the veliche I was interest to purchase, and the salesman print me a sale sheet with an offer...he intentionally omitted the APR but tried to convince it was a 2.9% APR. When asked him to print the full financing detailed sheet he tried to bully me and raised his voice to the point I had to leave. That was his desperate attempt to force me to sign the contract, since the alternative was for him to show me the full financing information and disclose the true APR, which was an astonishing 5.5%....he would have lost me anyway. Fortunately I can count and add numbers together and I understood his game immediately...the monthly payment was higher than what I have quickly calculated...and that’s why I insisted to see the full financing contract.That’s embarrassing and incredibly unprofessional and ultimately illegal. Stay away.
5 STARS FOR Caitlyn my salesperson was excellent. She has a wonderful personality and she is very responsive. Anyone looking to buy a VW I suggest working with Caitlyn and to get pre-approve financing before going to the dealership but do not tell them you are pre-approved for a loan until you have agreed on a final price.0 STARS - for Dana Harris, who is the general sales manager and is a rude, disrespectful, obnoxious, deceitful, and conniving human being. Also, I contacted the salesperson on April 5th, 2 days after purchasing my Atlas, about puddle lights that should have been installed on the vehicle as noted on my window sticker but was not and requested someone from management to contact me. Two weeks later and I still have not heard from anyone on the management team. At this point I do not wish to talk to management because if they wanted to talk to me they would have done so already.Also, once I made a deal they would not let me use my own financing and got upset because I was taking my time to review my paperwork and ask questions before signing anything. When I pointed out some wrong information the finance manager called the sales manager into the opened office and humiliated me because I wanted to read my documents I then ask to speak to upper management. Brian was very helpful and he spoke with the finance manager about my sales and authorized him to let me used my own financing. Once I restarted the paperwork to complete the sale it took about 5 minutes to complete.Update, April 21st - The new General Sales Manager contact me about the puddle lights asking for me to schedule and appointment to have the lights installed but my salesperson has already scheduled an appointment for me so clearly management doesn’t know what is going on.

Garlyn Shelton Volkswagen does not treat you like you are just another customer or like other dealerships they treat you like an individual. We felt that we were treated as if our deal was the most importance. The General Manager Michael Lindberg, Alec Skirvin our Finance manager and our sales professional Landon were absolutely amazing and made us feel that no matter our situation they would get us into the vehicle that would work for our family this team made my husband and I feel like we knew them for a very long time by making us feel comfortable and taken care of. I dont know where to start but the best advice that I can give is dont buy a car from them, We bought a 2015 GMC Terrian. I was very happy with the Salesman, He was very professional but 2 months later (today) we had some problems with starting our car so my husband took the car to get checked. They said that we have to pay $430 to get the problem fixed. We just bought the car and when they sold it, They said we would have a warranty for 3 months but in this case, the issue wasnt covered. The battery had a dead cell and was filled with corrosion that we didnt notice until we had to jump start out the car. Garlyn Shelton said that they had checked the battery and it had passed their inspection. If the battery was covered with corrosion on the black cable, I dont see how that could be truthful
Will no longer be having my car serviced here. This place, from the people who make appointments all the way to management, is full of inept people. Dont believe a word any of them say, especially the women who make the appointments at the call center. Ill be taking my car to an independent shop from now on if required and Ill also do my own maintenance and repairs.

I had been looking for a new-to-me car for a while, and found two identical Hyundai Tucsons, one at Garlyn Shelton VW and one at a dealer in Austin. I told both that barring any problems I found with the test drive, Id purchase the car from whomever gave me the best deal. OV, Dana and Carlos made it happen. They listened, they were proactive without being pushy or aggressive and they were fair and honest. I would highly recommend working with them.

I will never buy another vehicle from this place again. We bought a truck that we love, however as soon as they made their money, they did not follow through with our registration. They were supposed to mail it to us and never did. Now the registration is almost expired and we have made mutiple calls to resolve it. No one will call is back and the front desk keeps telling us they will leave a message with someone and they wont let us talk to anyone that can help us. It seems they are deliberately avoiding us. It is very unprofessional.

Real shady work here, after wasting 8 hours of my day on... nothing, I signed paper work with the shady finance manger who whipped though the paper work. Turns out they added an extended warranty without telling me. In fact he said couldn’t add the extended warranty due to the bank. Awesome shady work. But gets better, turned in the cancel warranty paper work for a refund..... still waiting on that refund.. 3 months now. Save your self the head ack and go to BMW were they treat you like a customer and not an idiot.

So I put a deposit this morning on.a low miles Toyota RAV4 at 9am after Amanda Meeks called me back and we agreed to see the car between 11-1130 am or so.I live in Austin and just before I stepped out, I called back to ask one last question about the color and convenience package options since Autotrader was showing Grey while it was Blue in the pictures and I wanted to be doubly sure.To my surprise, she called back. said saying the car was sold.Unbelievable:1. My deposit did not mean much.2. Had I not called up, I would have made a drive to Temple and back for nothing.3. They may have bait-and-switched me to another car. Who knows ?I called up their Internet Sales Manager/DIrector and have to yet get a call back. It is12:30pm.I feel slighted and as if my money is not green enough for them. is this customer satisfaction ...Maybe you need to have someone on the inside to get a low mileage car. Or their left hand does not know what the right hand is doing ?Either way, not happy at all.

What can I say about this dealership but WOW WOW WOW, Im not one to write reviews, but my experience was phenomenal OV ( salesman), and Daniel Harris( sales manager) are great people. I began my search for an Atlas at an Auto dealership in Killeen ( we all heard of it ends with MAX, and no, its not Carmax). They overpromised and underdelivered the salesman there was focused on making a quick sale rather than customer service once he ran my application and saw my credit score ( not the best but its climbing and getting better) he stopped working with me Im still waiting on a text from him. Thus, enter Garlyn Shelton Volkswagen, after speaking with someone over the phone I knew this might be the place to buy my Atlas, I asked if I could bring the car home so my wife could look at it and test drive it, OV immediately found a brand new 2020 Atlas with all the amenities I wanted and allowed me to take it come for 2 days. Upon bringing it back to the dealership there was no pushy salesman, no sales manager asking if I had made a decision and if not what was stopping me. All OV asked was if we liked it and that when we are ready they are there for us. I explained my credit situation to both OV and Dana Harris they said no problem we will work with you. I told I wanted my payments to be and they delivered they didnt just stop working with me like with the other dealership they said they could work with me and they did, they got me in the car I wanted with the monthly payment I wanted. Garlyn Shelton VW will always have my business, and I will always recommend this dealership to anyone I met. Best customer experience I had ever. I have been in this business for quite some time and these folks are perfect for executing the right kind of service that everyone needs and wants. It was very easy to find out facts fast and they offer more than fair prices right away. I know as consumers we all price shop and this VW store was just as good as anyone else, but the service was the difference. Ronnie Collins and Danny Jones did a terrific job with the entire process and made this very easy. Ruben Gayton handled the finances and he was right on point. Thanks to the friendly staff for bending over backwards to make me truly happy with my purchase. They explained the entire process from purchase to service very effectively. When my vehicle was ready, I came in to sign the paperwork but, unfortunately, finance was at another dealership. Instead of making me take my old car and come back the next day, they allowed me to take my new car which took any sting out of having to come back to sign the papers. Great service and am very happy with my purchase.

I was pleased with the service I received. Each person I interacted with was pleasant and did not talk down to me in any way. Which is my biggest concern when going to any shop. I appreciate the helpfulness and answers to all my questions even the ones not related to the visit at the time. They also gave me a ride to and from work and I enjoyed my talk with the shuttle driver. Everyone was professional and helpful.

While searching for a new car I decided to give Garlyn Shelton Volkswagen Temple a try. As you can see from the 1 star and the decision to take time out of my day to write this review - that was a mistake.If you believe buying a car is a major financial decision, then please, read on! If not, then this place is probably perfect for you :)We had discussed a decent price on a new car, then they offered me a laughably low offer on my trade in (no worries this isnt the part that caused this review) I said no thank you, and said I would think about it. Then - this is the part that frustrated me - the salesman talked to the manager, then told me the price is for today only (I came in at about 6 p.m.). What... What? You want me to make a major financial decision in the span of less than 2 hours. You want to force me to make that choice in only a couple hours time? Excuse me, but that is not the way business should be done, and I do not believe I have ever had ANYONE present a deal to me in that form. I politely said no and walked out the door.Please do yourself a favor, and do not give this dealership your business unless you enjoy making quick decisions that will impact you for years.

Incredible experience! My husband and myself were looking for a new SUV after my Honda CRV was totaled in an hit and run accident. I was looking at getting another Honda but also wanted to look at other vehicles before we committed to a major investment. We decided to visit Garlyn Shelton VW in temple. When we arrived we were greeted by OV. We shared with him our story of the hit and run of our Honda and how now we were looking for a vehicle where we would feel safe in. OV was excited to explain to us how VW is committed to safety. He showed us the VW Atlas and from the engine to the bumper he showed us how VW vehicles are superior in safety from the crumple zones of the engine to prevent being crushed by the engine, to the steel beams in the door to protect against side impacts, and the extra spacing between the seats and door to maximize protection. He had us sold within the first 10 minutes of walking through the door. But as with every major decision we decided to sleep on it. The dealership was supportive of our decision and loved that the staff was not pushy towards us. They won us over and the next day we purchased our new VW Atlas. Overall, incredible experience.

I would like to thank EJ and the whole team over at VW for making my experience so fantastic. They took the time to keep me informed and up to date on a long repair and went the extra mile to make sure my car was returned to me in better condition.When I noted that my car had a lot of water spots from the courtesy wash they immediately rectified the situation by having the vehicle detailed and even provided me a loaner for the mean time so my Memorial Day plans weren’t interrupted.It’s a level of customer car rarely found when dealing with larger auto groups. I drive 30 extra minutes to take my car to Garlyn Shelton and it’s this level of care that makes the trip worth while.

Very disappointed with the unprofessionalism in their service department. I leased my first Jetta with this VW in Temple and my current Jetta with VW in Waco. Living in Nolanville, it is more convenient for me to have service done in Temple. I called in advance and specifically requested to schedule service when I could get a loaner so I could get to work on time and be able to run errands if needed while my car was being serviced. I was assured a loaner would be available for me. When I arrived I was not greeted nicely, the man in the service department was rude and unprofessional, and they had no loaners available for me. He didnt even apologize for the inconvenience or misunderstanding and I now have to reschedule my service appointment. Huge waste of time. In the future I will save myself time in the long run and just drive to Waco. I will never use the service department at this dealership again.

I wish writing this in ALL CAPS would let people know to stay away, but Ill let their inaction speak louder.I have tried to get my new VW serviced at Garlyn Shelton twice now, both with the same MISERABLE results. Both times I had to take it to my trusted, reliable repair shop to fix the problems they created.This time, after an oil change, I noticed the car was leaking. Turns out the Garlyn Shelton service folks not only put the oil filter on wrong, but also nearly forgot to tighten the oil drain plug. My repair shop said they removed it with only their hand!Twice is enough for me. Dont even give them one try. Its not worth the bother and you will only be looking for another repair shop to fix their damage.STAY AWAY!!!
Two thumbs up from me! I hate car dealerships... I dont like to haggle or waist my time there. Caitlyn and Parker made sure that wasnt a problem for me. Caitlyn was more knowledgeable and better able to explain my new vehicles features than any male salesman I have ever encountered, and Parker was on top of the financing. Drive to Austin and save your time. Attempted to have a vehicle serviced and purchase another with cash. They left my to be serviced vehicle sitting on their lot for 4 days and didnt so much as touch it, yet called me twice about coming in to purchase the other vehicle. When I came to pick up my to be serviced vehicle I got griped at that I should bring it back another day and buy the vehicle I was looking at from that salesman not the saleswoman I had spoken with. Garbage. Have an appointment in Austin for Monday that they will fix my service vehicle within an hour and take payment for their 2016 ZL1 Camaro as soon as its finished. This is why Bell county dealers are a joke and we all go out of town to buy cars. Guess you thought I was kidding about the $25K in cash down?

Absolutely terrible! Weve always had problems with them, even back when it was Tranum, before it was Garlyn Shelton. Seems like same people, different name.This time, we took my vehicle in to get a fuel door and AC fixed. Took weeks for them to make a complete diagnostic of my AC. Replaced some wiring and that still didnt fix it. At week 1, I told him to go ahead and fix the fuel door and lets wait to hear back from the home office to see what they say about the AC since they couldnt figure out what was wrong. They had to call home office and they told them to replace the compressor. At $1200, no thanks. Especially since they didnt know for sure that was the problem!On the day I said No on the compressor and I wanted to come pick it up, I found out the fuel door was still not fixed! So, they had it for 3 weeks and all they did was diagnostics. RIDICULOUS!

I had my car serviced here. When I picked it up the back tail light was dangling by its wire. I inquired what had happened and was met with a very hostile It was like this when you brought it here While I am no mechanic, I would notice if my back light was dangling.Additionally, I was told I needed to replace all the drainage tubing leading down from my sun roof as my back seat had been flooding. No explanation was given as to why they needed to be replaced until I persistently asked, I was then told they had severe dry rot. I took my car to a close friend who is a mechanic, we inspected the tubes and found that they were simply clogged.All in all 0/10 would not recommend.
The service department was great. the customer service rep said take a few snacks for the road as we went to leave.
I just recently bought my 3rd vehicle from this dealership. Our 1st experience was OK. But, the reason for the five stars is for this last experience. They offered me different options to help me in my personal financial situation and what suited me best for my family. I am now in a 2017 Passat R-Line and I love it. I love the VW care and VW care-plus package that you can purchase to cover all your cars maintenance needs for us to 50,000. When this car is paid off, I plan to return for a new one!

Garland Shelton VW charged seven thousand plus $$$$$ to put in a new engine. The second day the undercover guard came loose at 40 mph and was dragging. I called the dealership and asked them to fix the problem since they are the ones who didn’t fasten the guard properly after installing the engine. A very nice gentleman put me on hold four times while relaying the information to his supervisor. The gentleman picked up the phone without his supervisor being aware; and over heard the supervisor tell him that I didn’t purchase no “blankedy, blank, blank, under guard and they were not going to honor the warranty..
I can honestly say this was my best experience buying a new car. Caitlyn in sales at VW was extremely knowledgeable of the vehicles and found the exact vehicle I was looking for. Parker in finance was very easy to deal with and helpful explaining additional products offered. At no point did I feel pressured or annoyed by anyone at the dealership.UPDATE: I received a call from Caitlyn informing me that I actually overpaid at closing and they are giving me a REFUND! Never in my life would I expect a car lot to tell me I paid too much and give me money back. They have definitely earned my business.

My Jettas A/C would not blow cold air when the car came to a stop but had no issues if it was moving forward. I took the car to Garlyn Shelton to get it repaired because I assumed the dealership would fix the problem easily. Payed $80 for a diagnostic check and they gave me a $1900 estimate for repair. Essentially, they recommended I change most of the major components on my A/C system which sounded suspicious to me. I paid the $80 and went home to look through some online VW forums to see if anyone else had a similar issue. It turns out that the issue was a 40A fuse which I bought for $5 at a different dealership. It took me less than 10 minutes to remove 3 nuts and swap the fuse out. A/C works like new again. This wasnt the first time they try to push major component repairs on me for something minor but it is the last. Dont trust them and will not go there again.The customer service is mediocre to okay but they have constant turnover in service reps.

The mechanic department took a week to not fix my vehicle and charge $200. They were unprofessional and my car still has an electrical problem. I do not recommend.

Went there and both katlynns were disrespectful. Heard one of them call an employee slow poke and the other she used profanity towards an employee. Mr Shelton really needs to take time to evaluate his employees cause it is unprofessional hearing two ladies talk as such. I would not recommend anyone to buy a vehicle from there with their behavior cause they do not respect a business. I did record them and posted how professional they talk to people on facebook so it can be shared
Bought a car here only because of the deal I got on it nice cars here but the manager was rude when his offer was declined at first, lacked professionalism.

The whole family of garlyn shelton auto dealers are just awesome. Customer service is patient and accommodating. The sales reps are polite and knowledgeable, the service dept is the same way. We bought a used truck from the Buick dealer and that was actually a pleasurable experience, then a few months later after 2 visits to the VW service dept the sales dept took the extra step forward to help us out of an unreliable used car and into a brand new car. Both dealerships where never pushy or impatient, all around good experience would definitely deal with them again if given the chance
