I must say it was a neat job. James and his family are the people who will take that extra mile to make the customer happy. Thank you Smith family for being the best doctor for my car.Part 1This is my first part of the review as I have just given my car to Smith Family. I am waiting for the car to be returned by tomorrow. Anyway, my cars bumper needed to be fixed. Before Smith I had gone to my car dealers who suggested replacement and had given an estimate of 800-1000$. I did not want to spend so much as the bumper was not damaged to that extent. James, the owner here gave one good look and suggested just repair as the bumper bracket and clip needed replacement only and then the bumper needed some touch up paint. He gave a very good estimate of cost and I said yes at the same time. He made a couple of calls to get the paint matching my car and made sure the same color is bought.Ill be posting another review once I receive my car.

Smith’s Family Auto Care is the place you want to take your vehicle for repairs. I was stranded on the road when my car broke down. I decided to look up shops near me and three shops popped up. I chose Smiths because of the positive reviews that I read. I called and Mr. Bradly answered the phone. Not only did Mr. Bradly hear my plight, he came out to where I was located. He explained to me what the problem might be but wanted to be sure after a diagnostic test first. They towed my car to their shop and the fair price they quoted before any repairs were made was awesome. I thank the Lord for Smiths Family Auto Care, because they were truly God sent. These guys are the best! Very upfront and honest- reasonable pricing too! All the guys in the shop are very hard working and arent sneaky about selling you things you dont need. I bought the cutest Mazda from them awhile back for an amazing price and to this day I havent had an issue with it since they took such good care of it!

I talked with James. Straight forward with everything. I needed a transmission rebuild on my jeep. I shopped around and not only was this shop quoting the most reasonable prices on everything, but I got my vehicle back quickly. Always friendly. He isnt one of those mechanics that find more and more wrong with your vehicle and your price gets out of control beyond his initial diagnosis.I also took my family members pickup to him, after another mechanic quoted all kinds of stuff wrong with it. James let us know it was a simple fix with a belt. Saved a lot of money and the truck has been running great. He also fixed the inside handle on that truck for no extra charge, because we had the replacement handle with us.I recommend him to everyone, even if they live outside temple. Its worth getting your vehicle there and knowing your being taken care of.

I recommend this shop due to its honest and experienced mechanics in addition to their fair no BS mark up prices that your typical car dealership gives you. James and his crew worked diligently on my vehicle and finally resolved the vibrations coming from bad suspension and a bad tire. He gave me a nice discount and even re-aligned my hood for free after seeing it was off center due to the last mechanic shop (C&M automotive) re-installing it poorly. By poorly I mean it would shake violently as if it was ready to fly up and smack my windshield driving down the highway like in the movie “Tommy Boy”. All in all I got excellent service and paid $650 in total to have 2x upper front control arms, 1x rear control arm, 2x rear shocks replaced. Definitely recommend paying in cash as well.

I read all the reviews before deciding on a company to trust with my car. Because of recent immobility i was unable to drive and funds were little. I was sure these were the right people to fix my car! First, they offered to pick up and drop my car off when it was done!! They found the cause in a timely manner of my car not running! They never tried to sell more or try to make extra money. They were very helpful finding the cheapest way to fix my car!! They kept us updated with the status of our car! We saved a couple hundred dollars and received the best service i have seen in all my 37 years! If you want someone reliable, trustworthy, affordable and kind to fix your car, this is the right place!!

I promised James, the garage owner, Id write a super honest review so here it is: I was recommended to this place by a friend who had good luck with his cars so I thought Id give it a try. The place is pretty small and grungy. My first thought in my head was, well here we go...this might suck. However, I was pleasantly surprised by my experience despite my first impression. The receptionist was courteous and nice, James was very professional and seemed sincere. They got me in and out super quickly and fixed my car problem. I already knew roughly how much I should be charged for the fix beforehand and they didnt charge me absurdly more than my estimate. For that I give a thumbs up.

Customers beware!!!!! My car has been at this shop for almost 5 months for insurance claim. I have been given the run around by owner James Smith over and over again. He is dishonest and does not do quality work and he will drive your car for personal use along with letting a dog ride in the car as well. This is the worst experience I have ever had dealing with a so called professional business. Do not believe his reviews because obviously they are not true. James please get my car repaired correctly as you promised. Classic example of a woman being taken advantage of!!!!

They do good work. Had a truck transmission rebuild and although they did a great job, they didnt rush the job, yet we got it the day after it was supposed to be done. I think its because the owner is very detailed about getting the job done right. Only peeve is they left the truck filthy inside with grease marks everywhere. I mean everywhere. On the dash, our brand new steering wheel cover, interior door handles. Id advise the owner to PLEASE have a chat with the crew to be more careful with peoples interiors. But the truck is running great.

We live in Austin but we were buying a car in Temple. We had called them on the phone to see if they could do a quick check over. I wasnt sure that they could work us in but they said just drop by and we can do that while you wait. Great service and friendly people. I highly recommend James and the Smith family!

I stopped in at Franks with a weird leaking issue. James the owner let me leave it with them overnight, had someone drive me home and kept me updated with the repair the entire step of the way. When they were finished with my car, James sent someone to pick me up and explained clearly what had gone wrong. I moved to the area recently, and my truck started having radiator/water pump issues. So, I did some research and found Smiths Family Automotive Care. They gave me a quote and I brought them the truck. Along the way in the repair, they called me. Apparently, a few hoses were having were also having issues, causing further coolant leaks. James told me that the hoses added to the original total, but that he did everything he could to keep them as close to the original quote. Got the truck back the next day and it runs great! These guys did quality work, kept me updated as unexpected things occurred, and were 100% honest with me every step of the way!

Ive lived in Temple for 4 years and had to do multiple repairs on my vehicles during that time. I would always call all the mechanics in Temple (about 15-20 different mechanics) to get estimates before getting the work done. Franks garage was ALWAYS the best priced. They do great work for competitive prices and their service is always great (including rides to and from the shop, warranties on their work, and friendly service). They are always honest and wont overcharge you for parts or labor and they wont tell you that you need to fix anything that isnt broken. Plus they do free diagnostics. I always just take my car in to them now. Most recently I had to have it towed and they did diagnostics, called me with an estimate, and finished the work in a single day. So if youre having vehicle problems, do yourself a favor and go to Franks garage.

I can not say enough good things about Franks Garage and James Smith the owner. James purchased the business but kept the old name. Fair prices, honest mechanic and friendly service. My Sentra after a 100,000 mile tune up on it runs like a new car! Their prices were extremely fair. I was told by another place that I needed to flush my brake fluid for only $174. James looked at it and said it was still good and did not need replacing. That is the kind of person he is....honest. All I know is this, if James tells you it needs to be done, it needs to be done otherwise he would not tell you.

This is the shop that any city/community would be proud to have serving its residents.

Franks Auto. The best damn garage in Central Texas. Period. I can not praise this garage enough for what they have done for me and my Mustang. My baby needed quite a few parts replaced when I calley James. I really wasnt sure of everything that needed repair, but a blown motor was a possibility and I was very nervous. I brought it into the shop, and even though I rushed the guys to get it done for me, they were totally cool about it. They were able to identify exactly which parts needed to be replaced in seconds, and got me on the road the same day. These guys stomp competitors because they are honest (possibly brutally if you need it), they bust their asses for you, and every mechanic in the shop treats the customers car as though it was their own. I live in Fort Worth, and I would willingly drive down to Franks to work on my car because they are that good at what they do. Thanks for everything guys!

We were referred to Franks Garage by someone who had used their services before. I am so happy to now know a wonderful, honest, reliable auto repair shop in Temple now that can really be trusted. Our first experience was with an older model CRV that had been in an accident and was driven after that accident, but should not have been. As a result the head gasket was blown, so this created a very major repair situation. James, at Franks Garage explained fully the damage to the automobile and the repair choices. We elected to have it repaired and were very satisfied. The second time this same automobile was taken in was because the timing chain now needed replacing. This was also a major repair, but James pricing was more than fair and the work was done very rapidly. This is the ONLY auto garage in Temple that we will ever use. We would encourage everyone to take their automobile to Franks garage!

In a recent to trip that had me passing through Temple, Texas my car required a new battery. Franks Garage was recommended by a local resident. After a jumpstart, I took my car to Franks. I pulled in and noticed the garage was FULL of cars, all of which Franks team was working. I asked James if they could quickly do the work on my car as I needed to get back on the road. Without hesitation, Larry was on it. They noticed another issue with the vehicle that required attention. As that work would have required more time than I could allot, I asked if it was vital to have that work done OR if I could get back on the road and have it repaired upon my return home in a day. Many auto repair shops would have taken that opportunity to leverage my ignorance and rack up charges by suggesting I not leave without having the additional work completed. Not James or Larry. They said that the new battery would be fine to get me back on the road but that the additional work warranted my attention in the near future. Owner James Smith and his team member Larry operated on a level on honesty and integrity that is often difficult to find in the auto repair industry. IF I lived in Temple, Franks Garage would get my auto repair business every time. Theres a saying, when people show you who they are, believe them. I will be posting as the work goes on; full transmission replacement (2000 honda). This review is on the overall first impression and customer service. I took a day off work to get a few estimates I was not able to find anyone that could do the estimate that day. Franks Garage was the only one that asked where I worked and offered to give me a ride to and from (its only 10 min drive). I was actually able to leave it there so he could do the diagnostic and estimate. So, found out my case was cracked (no wonder the fluid went right through it), this caused the clutch plates to go out, and I had an overdrive solenoid out :( sad day. *New transmission* needed. I told him the history I knew on Honda transmission issues and he said he would find out if there had been any updates on the one he found. Week later I was able to get the money together. Through out the week anytime I called someone picked up and was able to answer my question. I was not able to get there before 5 so I called him and he offered to wait so we could do the paperwork and drop off the keys. Basic services and Customer Service this shop is top notch; and I researched a month before taking my car anywhere as I do not trust many mechanics. James made me feel comfortable and confident my car was going to be in good hands. #great customer service #excited #honda

Okay service, there were several times and I had to wait almost a week and I had to call to get my estimate. Also, some of the work were done but I felt that even though what I asked to be repaired, the shop could of saved me money and told me that in the long run, that repairing the problem would of been a waste of money. I believe they could of save me a lot of money if they just would of told me instead of doing what I wanted. I understand that mechanics got to get paid but the advice would of help me decide if it was worth repairing instead of wasting my hard earned money. When I took the car to another mechanic, he even told me that Frank Garage should of given the real truth about my vehicle. Make sure you get the real diagnosis before blowing your money because you are the one losing money, not Franks. Btw the engine blew a month later, what a waste of money and time 😠

I called Smiths in an effort to get my car repaired cheaper tgan the dealership quote tgat i recieved. Fortunately the cost was at least 1500 cheaper through Smiths. The employees were very professional towed my car from my house to their garage and gave us a loaner car. My car was fixed 3 days later. Now with that being said they are human and not everybody is perfect and I did have to bring my car back because the seal was still leaking; however, they still were vary professional and honored the warranty on their work and took to fixing the seal without trying to charge extra or being dishonest. Unfortunately, when fixing the mistake they did not have a loaner car which left us without a car for a few days. The only thing that i would say they could do better is have loaner cars for people whose cars will be there for 3 or more days. In end it is a great company with great employees and i would definitely refer anyone to use their services.

Franks garage helped me out, I called them trying to find someone to replace the rear differential on my truck, they not only did it for me but they got me a great rate on it and managed to do the replacement in just 2 days so I wouldnt be without, thanks guys great job and will definitely use you again!

If you every are in need of auto repair in Temple, head to Franks. These are the nicest and best people I have ever dealt with. A few weeks ago I was stranded in Temple and my roadside assistance sent me here. I called and told them I was coming in and what happened. When I didnt show up after a while they called me back and asked if I was still coming in, when I explained I was still waiting on a tow, they called the tow company and got them to hurry up. When I showed up everyone was extemely friendly and even though it was Friday afternoon and they were cleaning up to go home they all went to work on my truck right away. It turned out to be a minor issues, and they were able to fix it right then and there and get me back on the road in no time and a better than reasonable price. Absolutely the best experience I have ever had at an auto repair place, especially when out of town like that.

Not a bad idea.I brought in a company truck while traveling across state, simple brake job ( I would have done myself if I was near the house) They gave a straight price and didnt try to hit an out of Towner like most places do.I dont live close, but they will be saved in my phone if Im having issues on my way thru here agai.

This place screwwed me bad paid them $4600 to rebuild my motor took months n months kept tell n me was still at machine shop then finially got it in n took weeks n still never finished it ended up having it towed to another shop after parts were missing or stolen off itnew shop could never get it running cuz too many missing parts and ended up being wrong motor all together then wrong fly wheel wrong heads and they found hands full of leafes in oil panjames never wanted to refund my money or make right ened up cost n me another $5000 for the right motorfound out later he did this to 2 other peoplei will be file n law suit on himDO NOT go to this guy he is a crook n lier n theif

I went here recently. My heater coil/core busted en route to san antonio. As the child of a mechanic, i dont take my vehicle just anywhere. I was en route to another garage, and saw this one.... James the mechanic, came out there, bypassed it so i could keep driving safely, and charged me a very reasonable rate. The manager was not very personable, but JAMES was AWESOME, would HIGHLY RECOMMEND HIM! He has been working on cars for 20 years, young guy grew up in a shop. They had me in and out in 30 minutes.
