A very small yet very quaint and accessible Zoo. Its mission is to work with rescue animals. They nurture them back to health and provide food and shelter. There is also a small store offering tons of choices for scrumptious chocolate treats. Also a few very tasteful choices for gifts! The staff is eager to assist and answer all your questions. Theres a shaded patio with several tables; you may bring your own lunch and drinks! This would be enjoyed mostly by toddlers and children up to 10 years old.
I had read some of the negative reviews on here but decided to give it a try anyway. Unfortunately, the negative reviews are accurate. I came with my boyfriend and the first thing we noticed was how the animals almost looked like zombies. They stood and stared blankly ahead. They looked lifeless. Many of them stood and faced into corners. I understand animals probably don’t like being in captivity, but I’ve never seen such depressed looking creatures. The enclosures were small and dirty. It was honestly just sad to look at it and we both felt sad when we were there. It’s $10 to get in per person and there’s not much to see. We stayed maybe 5-10 minutes. Then we went inside for the free chocolate (size of a marble) and it was average at best. I’m giving it 2 stars only because the staff members were very nice. They were certainly a lot more upbeat and happy than the animals seemed to be.
I cannot even begin to recommend this place enough. So worth the money especially if you have little ones! These were some of the sweetest most loving animals Ive ever met. Unlike most petting zoos with limited animals and most of them are hiding or only tolerating the petting, they have a large variety of sweet animals who will come up to the edge of the enclosure and happily take pets and pester you when you stop lol. They have brushes to brush the animals and you can go in with the tortoise and the guinea pigs and bunnies. Such an amazing experience. Truly such amazing kind gentle loving friendly well taken care of animals. 12/10.
We were in San Diego wanting to do something different on our vacation, we went to the zoo it was nice but this petting zoo was awesome the staff went above and beyond to make sure we got to see all the animals. Sure its small but it’s worth the trip the kids loved petting the somewhat shy zebra and the camel it was full of life. Thanks for having us out. Oh yea the chocolate is really good too!!
Loved visiting today! I will definitely be back, especially to see the owl since it wasn’t there today :(We went for my daughter’s birthday and had a great time. Arrived at around 10 am with only 1 other family there. We were done in an hour. By the time we’re done there were about 2-3 other families that just arrived so we made good timing.Didn’t get to eat at the cafe since we already had lunch plans back at the house. Hopefully I can give a review for next time. Other than that, animals were calm and friendly. Perseus seemed to love me and gave me a piece of his food as a going away gift! He is such a cutie! The price is definitely affordable and worth it for the different animals they have. Also, I believe we should be supporting local animal sanctuaries.
Wonderful little zoo to experience amazing animals that are friendly. The kids loved interacting with the animals and good info on the brochure about the animals. The owner does a great job of telling kiddos about the animals and general rules before going out to the actual zoo. At the end of the tour, there is a hand washing station and you get to sample some delicious chocolate. The drive to the site is beautiful as well.
What a fun place for children and adults! We all enjoyed visiting the exotic animals and petting them. I loved the zebu and the tortoise. The view is incredible too. The staff is friendly and very welcoming. We all loved the chocolate as well. I was happy to purchase the wonderful truffles and soaps for gifts.
My grandson loved the animals. This is a great experience for kids as well as adults!
Great fun place in Temecula next to the wineries. Enjoy learning about animals, getting to play with them and eating chocolate. They make all of their chocolates in house and theyre delicious. Too good that we are them before I couldve taken a picture of them. Once youre done head over to the wineries for some delicious wines
Very nice experience. Extra parking in the back. Keep in mind that this is dirt parking. When entering visit the front barn where the chocolate shop is and check in to pay $10 per person for the zoo portion. There are clearly labeled enclosures for which animals are appropriate for petting and which ones are for viewing only. All animals have names, there is a wide variety ranging from birds to sheep and even a Zonkey (Zebra/Donkey). Lani was very kind and gave us an overview before we began our tour.
Took my 2.5 year old son here today and he LOVED every second of it! Really great place to take kids and all of the staff were super nice and helpful. Will definitely be back!
Ive had a great experience here both times that Ive came and thankful to have such a fun place in Temecula. You can easily see everything that the petting zoo has to offer in about an hour or two, so dont expect to spend a full day here but the affordable prices and adorable animals are perfect for those days when you are looking to have some fun with the kids without needing much planning.Me and my sons favorite part was feeding the little goats and mainly found ourselves rotating back between the goats, the camel (which is just awesome and surprisingly friendly), and the small animal enclosure that lets you go into a small area with guinea pigs and a big fluffy rabbit where my son could not stop laughing about the cute noises the guinea pigs made. When youre finished playing with all of the animals, they have an outside sink so you can wash up before heading into best part - the chocolate shoppe! They have a wide assortment of chocolates, fudge, truffles, and plenty other treats available and while this is likely to be the most expensive part of the trip, the proceeds help pay for the food and upkeep for the animals so I was happy to buy some. Dont forget to check out the owl whos likely to be sleeping in the corner while youre inside too.Overall, I would definitely recommend this place to anyone thats looking for something to do for a couple of hours in Temecula and will definitely be coming back myself in the future. The only thing that I would recommend is to bring some hand sanitizer as I dont remember seeing any dispensers on the property. Thanks and keep up the great work! 👍
Cute, quaint little farm.We got there at 9am on a Saturday, had it to ourselves for a good 30 minutes before people started to show up. Ashley was our guide and she was awesome. My parents have a mini farm of their own so we havent attempted this place for fear our 6 children would be bored easily because theyve grown up around a farm. NOT THE CASE.The kids absolutely loved it. We spent about a hour here, they have a great selection of animals to see. You cant pet all of them but thats ok. Not all animals want to be touched but it was so fun to see the different types of animals they have. All in all, wonderful experience. Id even pay more. The chocolate was a hit as well.Would recommend to anyone looking for a little adventure.
Cute place to go to. They charge to get on the farm before you get to the animals $10 for adults and five for kids. Small to a certain age are free. Not a bad price. There are a couple of the cages you can actually go into. Some animals that you dont normally see were there. I saw a zebra and we got to pet it!!! I thought that was pretty cool. You can also touch the bunnies and chickens. At the end you get a delicious chocolate sample and theres a cute little shop. Theres also a little cafe and nice outdoor seating. I spent about 45 mins there but can easily spend more time there if wanted. Very cute family friendly farm!!! I highly recommend
Was a cute little farm for the family. And they have a chocolate store. Was yummy
I found this place randomly on maps. I am happy that I did. The staff and volunteer were knowledgeable and friendly and the animals were also super friendly lol. The free chocolate at the ending was he icing on the cake.
AMAZING.I went to Sugar Plum unplanned with my boyfriend during a trip. The petting zoo may not be the biggest but it was the highlight of my trip thanks to the workers! They were very kind and really seemed to care about enjoying the animals. There was a worker in specific ( I wish I remembered his name! but he was an older gentleman) that saw that Zeus was not wanting to interact with my boyfriend and I not matter how much we called him and he actually brought out a jar of Zeus treats so we could feed him and get some cool photos! He also talked to us a lot of the other animals and gave us brushes to brush the zebras/donkeys. It was a really great experience. And its super cheap! Just go!
Nice place to bring the family. Friendly staff members and very clean areas. Animals are adorable! You can stay as long as you wish on your visit ❤
Looked at website and were very excited, but as we drove into the parking lot and witnessed the small cages of animals that should have been roaming in open yards laying down and looking dehydrated we felt sick. Even my eleven year old said they should be reported. I just dont know what these other people are seeing that deserves 5 stars. They obviously have never been to a real farm that cares about the animals. We turned around and left.
Nice little outing for the kids and an opportunity to see animals which proceeds help support.
I visited Sugarplum Farm on Sunday, January 27th and spent several hours there visiting the animals and talking with the owners. An impressive privately owned animal zoo with most of the animals being petable, even the large ones. The animals are well cared for and fed. All are friendly, adorable, and have extremely sweet dispositions that love being around people. The most affectionate being the camel and the water buffalo. Most are actually rescue animals that the owners took in to give them a better life. The owners also provide a wealth of information about each animal and there is an obvious loving connection between the animals and the owners, its fun to watch them interact. This is a wonder place for children to be up close and personal with animals. The zoo is also a work in progress and the owners have great plans for improving the experience for the animals and their visitors. Oh, I almost forgot to mention the chocolates, which would be a crime. I brought some home to my wife and she hasnt stopped talking about them sense, keeps telling me that I need to get more.
Such a cute place with LOTS of interesting animals (considering you’re in wine country California). My 1 1/2 yr old had a great time. Their chocolate is also DELICIOUS. $10 per grownup can get pricey, but I love supporting locals and understand how expensive animals are. Fun local spot, we’ll be back!
Cute, very nice Santa great animals.
Cutest little place!! Friendly adorable animals and the cafe was actually a little impressive for what they offer. The chocolate was very good! I see people complain about the amount they give but it is called a “sample” and it’s the size of a small candy it was so good though we bought more!
We really loved taking the family to the Sugarplum Farm! Highly recommended!
This place is super fun!! The staff is very friendly, the animals are fun to pet (especially Daisy the pig) and the chocolates are delicious! Definitely a fun place to take your family!
So cute! What a sweet gem right in the middle of beautiful wine country
The place is awesome and the people running it are amazing for doing it. If you are in the area make sure you stop by, pet, feed and play with some cool animals and dont forget to purchase some absolutely delicious candy in their store to support these people and animals. This is one stop I will always make when Im in the area!
We love this place! So much fun!
Cute place and cute animals. People are friendly and take great care of the animals.
Staff was wonderful! Informative and friendly. The animals were so entertaining. Theyre well taken care of, no flies in sight. I felt like a kid, again! Definitely will visit, again.
Yummy Chocolates ... really yummy.. buy carmel filled chocolate for me!!! ENJOY!!!Cool quick visit between hot air ballon and wine tour 😌
Best experience ever!! I loved all the animals n the chocolate is delicious 😋😋😋
It was lovely amd relaxing cute animals and great chocolate the staff are amazing definitely will visit again
Love it!
Interesting petting zoo! I thought it was a bit pricey for what they offer but the kids enjoyed petting the animals
Great pettIng zoo. Very friendly staff!
Lots of fun animals the owners and workers are super nice
Very very very small enclosures for the large animals! There is not enough space for them to get proper exercise, no grazing, no foraging, and no toys for them to play with. The bunny and Guinea pig cage was a ok size but they had no chew toys to play with and no clean source of food. The Hedgehog was also very sad looking with no toys, no large wheel, just a hide and food/water dish. Please do your research first
Started out good with the woman in the front, followed by an older gentlemen who was very kind. The price is a little steep to see the animals.. My daughter ran around the back to see the camel, My wife followed her to get her back to the front of the petting zoo.. and an older lady said “Can you not go back there?” (Which I completely understood, but it was the irritation in her voice) My wife was already walking my daughter back towards the front of the petting zoo when she asked them to stay out of that area. The reason I’m giving 3 stars is the rudeness of the employees. Felt like unwanted guests the entire time we were there.. My 2 year old was where the guinea pigs are, and the lady who cleans the area came over and rudely said “yeah she’s gonna have to get out of there I have to clean it.” No manners or anything. Grabbed our free sample of chocolate and left. Most likely will not be coming back. All in all the animals are cool.
Great Hospitality and Good Sandwiches and our Friends with us Enjoyed seeing the different Animals.
Horrible and just sad enclosure no food no water so small. Small rodent going insane and pacing back and fourth around little jail its in. Do NOT give these people your money the “workers” are nice but the animals are just laying there lifeless and it seems like the goats are being starved so people can “enjoy” feeding them.
We went on a Monday and it was so peaceful, (the person that works there says weekends are a lot busier). The worker was very welcoming and informative. The animals are used for special needs children in the area. You can spend maybe an hour max, so if youre in the area, its a cute place to stop by. Theres also a little chocolate/gift shop (chocolates are okay). My 5 year old enjoyed it.
They just remodeled the place and did a great job! Such a great place to go and see animals! The chocolates are delicious!
This little zoo is alot of fun. I would definitely come back.
Great place for kids of all ages!
Our first time there. Clean stalls for every animal. Staff was very informative & so polite. Great experience.
Very nice and clean petting zoo. The lady was very nice they also sale chocolate.
Fantastic farm with a wide variety of animals and all very friendly and an awesome selection of chocolates in the shop
This place is small but cute they have some animals that you can pet. Their chocolate store has a great selection definitely a plus.
Awesome little slice of heaven
We had a great time! My little one loved feeding the animals, and everyone was so nice to us there. I will definitely recommend coming here.
Cute little farm. My kids enjoyed it and the staff is very friendly
Adorable place with the cutest rescue animals. Staff is upbeat and friendly and they give back to the community.
Great staff, very cute animals
We had such a great time here today ! We took our 20 months old and she loved being able to touch and feed the animalsIt’s $10 per adult and kids under 3 are freeThe animals were really friendly and we spent around an hour thereThey also provide a sample of the chocolates and they are delicious, we had to buy some !Great way to entertain the kids and the staff and owner are really nice
Great place for kids. There are a few animals and all are petable. It is great that they are rescuing the animals and helping the community. Oh...the chocolates are delicious.
MUST GO! I loved this place ♥️Rescued animals, they give you a tour and you can stay as long as you want. You get a chocolate sample and they are very nice.
A great experience for my daughter to get to pet a zebra (shes had one since she was 7 days old) and the water buffalo brought back so many memories for me. The chocolate was amazing and supports a great cause.
Super cool place to visit!
Great hands on experience with the animals. Go Artemis!
My niece and I visited the farm for the first time today and we really enjoyed our time there. There are signs on pens that encourage visitors to interact with particularly friendly animals... we brushed a cow and a super sweet water buffalo. We petted a zebra and an adorably friendly donkey. We both went into a chicken & turkey pen. We also petted a bunny. We were allowed to feed goats and lamas. We got a kick out of the loudly snoring pig. There are a few other very cool birds at the farm and a big camel. The owners cleaned pens and watered the animals while we were visiting with their animals. The owners answered questions and were very friendly. They seem to care very much about their farm. At the end of our visit we washed our hands at a hand washing station. They also sell delicious chocolates, honey and sell soaps and lotions. Overall, we were there about 1 hour and had a lovely time. The animal pens are clean and I think they are doing a wonderful job with animals that were injured in nature, are old or needed re-homed. We will definitely visit again.
It was cool ... nice to look at the animals but wouldnt go out of the way for it
Saw add on FB. took my nephew and mom. Too pricy for what is on site. 25.00 for 2 adults and a 3yo. They say an hour we were done on 20 minutes and that is walking slow. Adults should be same price as kids. Not worth the $$ the candy shop is very pricey as well and nothing really for kids all adult gourmet candy. Couldnt eat at the Cafe it was closed. Id go again if the prices came down. But at this time not worth a 2nd trip. Staff was wonderful kind and when you ask questions they responded otherwise you were on your own.
Fun place for our young kids. Friendly staff. Tasty chocolate.
Really cool place, animal rescue where you can pet some and feed some, plus great chocolates!
I really had no idea what to expect for our first time. I took my two little ones and it’s just a short drive from from Rancho California. There was a steep hill I had to drive up that was a little sketchy, but once we got out of the car to see the animals, Lani was there to greet us. She gave us a personal tour and was very informative and took her time really letting my two little ones pet the animals. All the animals were friendly and well takin care of. The animals had such a strong bond with Lani, you can tell how much she loves them. After the tour she took us in and gave us some samples of her chocolate it was absolutely delicious, not too sweet. Needless to say we had a wonderful time. I would suggest wearing comfortable shoes, bring a hat if it’s a sunny day, and have a positive attitude!
The kids loved it! So close to touch and a very safe environment.
Great time exploring with the kid!! We loved petting the chickens, pig and bunny!! Feeding the animals was equally as fun. My son would have loved to stay there for hours! Shout out to Lani and Valerie for being fantastic hosts!! To top it off... the chocolates were divine!!! Thank you again!
Such a fun place to go with or without kiddos. It is on the smaller side but the price is great and the chocolate shop is a must!
Way over priced for staring at animals.$10 per adult, $5 per child and the chocolate sample they advertise with the price is the smallest piece I have ever scene. The kids had fun but if we knew what the price was we would have gone to bates nut farm instead.
Great place for kids. Highly recommended. Friendly staff
This is such an amazing place. Everyone here is just so nice, warm and inviting. The animals were all so cute. We cant wait to go back in the future.
Friendly staff...The entrance is a little to much for what it is..
Great farm, friendly people.
We always buy local for Christmas Gifts. This year we are buying chocolate for family. The truffles are amazing here!
Perfect place for a family trip...
$10 for adults, $5 for kids. They sell great chocolate too.
Adorable! Great prices! All the animals have cute names. Can feed some of the animals too. Extremely friendly staff and you even get a little chocolate treat at the end.
Loving animals! Beautiful owners!
Loved it, perfect little mini Zoo experience for the family. And chocolate too!
Love the animals, and the people were super nice!°
Super friendly owner and employees. But you can only pet animals while in their pens and if they come to you. Not like a regular petting zoo. Over priced for whats available. But super cute animals and nice people.
I came here with my family and we absolutely loved it. The animals are adorable and Valerie was so amazing. Lanis chocolates were delicious! Cant wait to be back.
What a beautiful farm! The animals are so friendly and you get to feed some of them! Such a fun experience!!
Super cute little place. Staff was very friendly and I like that they woke with the community as well.
